Decided to try out this local spot since I always see it packed. The fresh fish department is closed they say because of COVID but the restaurant part is still open and busy! The gentleman at the counter was very friendly and helpful- customer service on point! I let him know my son and I were newcomers and he explained the menu and made a few suggestions. I asked about the fried blue crab and told him I wasn't a fan of the regular crab because I'm from Cali and we have the most amazing Dungess, but he told me that fried soft shell was a good choice. So I chose the Combo with one soft shell crab, shrimp, fries, coleslaw and hush puppies- about 13$ (not too terrible). My son got whiting and shrimp combo and we both got canned drinks for a total of about 26$. We were given a buzzer thingy and told we could wait in our car and come in when our buzzer went off. The 5 minutes we were inside 3-4 other customers came in and it was obvious locals because the man at the counter and the customers chatted freely and the man asked "How's your mama today?" " Did your daughter like the fish?" Etc - the interactions were kind and genuine. I appreciate that! We got our food quickly- waited until we got home to eat (only 5 minutes away). It was a large serving of food. The hush puppies were perfect. Fries just right amount of salt. The shrimp was yummy and golden. The soft shell crab wasn't as good as I hoped for but I didn't have high hopes anyways lol. I think my taste buds just prefer DUNGESS or Snow crab. Overall- we were happy with the food. I definitely am not a fried seafood person so I would love to go back and ask if they have steamed or grilled items. If so- it will be a go too place!

Got fresh blue crabs here a week ago. They steamed it and seasoned it with Old Bay. The crabs tasted so sweet and the price is great. Less than $25 for a dozen of them when we got them. It was the best blue crab I've ever had. If you are in this part of Virginia, the area is known for fresh blue crabs as they are locally caught.

The food is really good. The shrimp and catfish is fried to perfection. I eat here 3 days a week for lunch. Best found place.

Well, I found my new favorite crab spot! Recently moved to Suffolk from VA Beach so I would drive allll the way back to get crabs from my favorite spot. Thank goodness I was lazy yesterday because WOW! These steamed crabs were amazing! The fried was good too but I only got 1 because everyone can't fry crabs lol. The place was clean and service was great. The crabs were steamed FRESH.

I like the way the food is cooked but the flavor not so much. It's not nasty but just a little bland to me. I'm not an Old Bay user. I prefer Tony Chacere's, Zatarains, Slap Yo Mama, etc. I'm from NO. We season our seasoning with seasoning. We even season our flour andddd the to-go container it comes in (lol). Yes, I know all that sodium is not good for you but...I digress. I wasn't impressed with the fresh seafood. I ordered a pound of filet fish and there were bones all up in that thing. If it's one thing I hate is fish with bones in it. I won't order fresh fish from here again. I give this place a 3 rating because it was okay. Maybe I'll go back, maybe I won't. Like I said, it's not nasty just not my preference. I've accepted it though. I meet someone from NO and she said this is as good as it'll get, they (VA) don't cook food like us (LA).

The owner is honest and friendly :) speaks perfect English and Korean and plays mean game of pool

Best seafood in VA. The entire state! Always fresh, and cooked to perfection. Everything is good there. The management friendly and from South Korea, so hard working family owned Asian business. Prices are very reasonable. Hidden gem. All their customers are word of mouth. They dont advertise cuz they dont need to. enuff said. :)

And downtown Suffolk is just beautiful and quaint, it feels friendly and idyllic. *Ambience: Extremely comfortable, super approachable, but also refined with lots of wood and brick, but open and airy, and lots of light. You walk in to a cocktail and bar area, with an incredible painted sign on the brick wall behind the bar, that is a total throwback. The bar is incredibly comfortable and open and warm feeling. There are hardwood tables and beautiful booths along with a private dining area in the back. Really couldn't ask for or want for a more comfortable environment. *Service: absolutely stellar, super friendly staff, our server could not have been nicer or more genuine, or had more of an "ownership attitude" as if the restaurant meant everything to her, and so did us being there. She knew everything on the menu, had great recommendations, and insured we were consistently taken care of. She truly missed nothing. Harper, the owner, came over to check on us and ensure we were enjoying ourselves. He couldn't have been nicer or kinder or more humble. Service was outstanding. *Food & Drinks: The food! The drinks! Oh man! I've been a "Yelp Elite Member" for almost 10 years and the food here at hT is near the top of all my reviews, hundreds of them. The highest quality ingredients, impeccably curated, ingeniously but simply paired, created with a true love for the art of cooking and the true joy of the consumer. This was obvious. We started with a Mainstream Manhattan and Old Fashioned from the bar. No ordinary bartender, she's a true mixologist/professional. Both drinks were excellent, no "simple syrup" used here, raw sugar cubes melted into the finest spirits, yummm! We order brussels sprouts from the appetizer menu everywhere we go and compare them. None have ever come close to our favorite, for a dozen years, until now. These were crispy on the outside, but juicy inside, flash fried to an al dente bite and finished (almost injected) with a cherry vinegar glaze that permeated every bite with sweet, tart perfection. We also started with the vibrant Camden County May Pea & Truffle Toast which was like a celebration of spring with a fresh, grilled baguette topped with fancy Italian truffle cheese (insane!), sweet tender may peas, and fresh pea shoots, all drizzled with olive oil for a fresh, earthy, and simple bite that captured the essence of this farm-to-table cuisine. For entrees we ordered the Ben Johnson's Soft Shell Crabs with remoulade and the Brown Sugar Brined Porkchop with pimp cheese, grits, and chard tomatoes with a side of hand cut fries with roast shallot mayo. Everything was stellar, no exceptions. I can honestly say this was **the best pork chop I've ever eaten, ever.** Tender, sweet, meaty and paired perfectly with the creamy cheese grits and the tang and smoke of the charred tomatoes. Ridiculously good! See my photos, too bad they don't come with "taste-o-vision", because, wow! The hand cut, skin on, double fried potatoes and roast shallot mayo were fantastic. As if that wasn't enough food, they also brought us stone ground cornbread, with a massive slab of rough salted butter, steamy, warm, soft, buttery perfection. I'm ready to go back now! *Value & Overall: I posted pictures of all menus and all prices. Their spirits and mixed drink selections from the bar are incredible. The food, service and ambience simply couldn't have been better. Prices, as you'll see, are exactly in line for what you get and an excellent value. Portions on everything were excellent and we ended up taking home quite a bit of food, which was also stellar the next day. I absolutely cannot recommend Harper's Table highly enough. This establishment, all parts of it, truly earn a five star review across the board with no exceptions. Have no hesitation, make a reservation, go, it will become an instant favorite.

Service was on point, quickly answering questions and providing great recommendations to the menu the varies slightly throughout the seasons. The picnic plate was perfect for a small group to enjoy and the flounder fish and chips was great! The shrimp and grits were perfectly cooked and very flavorful as well! Bit of crispy brussels were a great table share for our party of three. This is a casual and comfortable location with plenty of seating. Didn't need a reservation for an early Saturday lunch, but available via Resy to secure your spot if desired. If you are looking for a cozy space to enjoy a small or large party (back large family table style available) highly recommend Harper's Table for some fresh farm to table comfort foods!

Some friends and I ended up here after realizing the Gourmet Burger Bistro closes early on New Years Day (oops), but honestly it worked out in our favor. I've been seeing Amici's floating around online for YEARS and just never got around to visiting ... but better late than never because babyyyy the food was hittin'. Y'all do NOT judge a book by its cover. From the outside it definitely gives a little "divey neighborhood spot," but the food? FYE. Way better than you'd ever expect walking in! Now I gotta talk about this Caesar salad. When it hit the table, I made a face at my homegirl because why did I see tomatoes in my Caesar salad!? In all of my almost 34 years of life I've never seen that before. But listen, I took one bite and had to humble myself because it was honestly one of the best Caesars I've ever had. Got me right together. We also got the hot caprese queso appetizer with foccacia bread and it was absolutely delicious. My chicken parmesan pasta was also amazing. I put the leftover caprese queso on top of the pasta and it was a wrap from there! Me and all my friends agreed that the food was really good despite our first impressions. I'm officially adding Amici's to my list of places to visit whenever I'm in Hampton Roads.

Besides, the customer service was friendly and I interacted with a patron while I waited for my order, and our interaction was pleasant and informative. I drive by this place quite often, but never know if it's open or not. Well yesterday, I saw cars parked out front and I had time... I pulled right on in. There is another restaurant located next door, but I have yet to see the doors swing open. Nevertheless, I arrived about 3pm give or take a few minutes and two others were already inside. I checked out the menu for several minutes before deciding to order. Luckily an older gentleman was present, I was able to ask him "what's good here" - he likes the fish and mac n cheese. While I was not in the mood for either, I will keep them on the radar on my next visit. Everything is fried here, unless you opt for the crabs or shrimp in which they can be prepared steamed. Well, I always love to try one's crabcake... so I ordered 1 crabcake and I have been longing to try someone's crab egg rolls... so I ordered 1 crab egg roll please. While waiting, I learned about the restaurant's history and other staples in Suffolk. This man was super friendly and even picked up my vibe... "you're not from Suffolk, are you" - no sir. He could tell. Evidently the people from the area can be spotted easily. I waited maybe 5 minutes, and my order was ready. The restaurant has some protocols in place to limit interaction with others and the employees. Which is completely understandable. I ended up trying my food about 20 minutes later. The temp was still warm... a good thing. I bit into the crab roll... I really couldn't tell if it was actually crab or just a regular egg roll. After two bites, maybe three, I determined, this may be crab. Nevertheless, it wasn't too noticeable... not sure if I would try that again. I may have to order a regular one and a crab one to really tell the difference. Onto the crabcake... Well...it definitely has a lot of filler. In this case, I am not surprised by the cost anymore. I thought the price was a steal for a crabcake... but now I see, the price is right. You get what you pay for, but I was hoping for a steal. Overall, I wouldn't count this place out, but next time, I am looking fwd to trying the fish and scallops. Again, everything is fried, so I must be in the mood to try it, because if not I will not be able to give my totally honest review. I so prefer steamed seafood, broiled, blackened even, but I will keep you posted. In the meantime, check out the hours, because they are very limited. Take care of yourself and enjoy life :)

There were no menus, and I was expected to order using the pictures on the wall, some that had no prices. While ordering, I was informed that the majority of drinks were out; the only choices were diet Pepsi, lemonade, sweet tea and orange. How is this possible. Anyway, there was some confusion on how many sides came with each meal, leading me to end up with more sides. After ordering, I waited a while for my food. I asked for hot sauce, ketchup and utensils...I was given a few unwrapped forks from a cup, and told they didn't have packets. They pointed me to a table with a few bottles, including Franks Red Hot. Not sure it was supposed to be that color so I skipped it. On to the food. First up was the sides of mac and cheese and collards. At $4 per side, the containers were tiny. I would complain, but the sides were so bad, I'm glad I didn't have much to eat. The collards were dry, had no taste, but were somehow spicy. The mac and cheese was okay, but runny. Next was the fish sandwich; they were out of lettuce and tomato, so that wasn't an option. The portion on this was good, but it was simply bread and fish, no sauce. The fish tasted a bit plasticy, so I tossed. Now comes the fried chicken. Holy guacamole, the chicken was great! Top five in Hampton Roads!!! Overall, the experience at this location sucked. I won't be returning, but I am up to visit other locations.
