I bought an $800 electric lawn mower and the first time using it I found the self propulsion was defective. I brought it back to the store within 2 weeks of purchase and was told that because it was used I can't exchange it. I said, "of course it is used, how else could I have found out it was defective." Then they said they wanted to take it in the back of store and test it out. I agreed. 40 minutes later the manager came back and said the machine and box is covered in oil and so it wasn't returnable. I told them it can't be covered in oil it is an electric mower and they don't use oil. Then he said, exactly you must have put oil in it. I adamately denied this accusation and they then said well we won't exchange it and I would have to go through the manufacturer. When I got home I inspected the machine and the box and there was no oil. So clearly they are too lazy to take care of their customers because they don't want to do the paperwork to send it back to the manufacturer as defective.

I was pretty much uneducated on this topic (ours in our home were installed by our trusted contractor). This is sometimes a not-ideal knowledge situation to be in entering a Home Depot (as you can leave with a sour taste in your mouth from an employee talk). But in our case, we got help from Daniel, and we left the Depot with satisfaction that comes from a good, honest interaction. Daniel identified that we needed help, and spent a lot of time with us. It was clear he was educating himself as well, and was easy going as he looked for the right parts with us. That attitude definitely rubs off on consumers, and left the store better educated and with parts that we knew we could return easily if it didn't work. And yes, we learned that these hinges comes in different 'sizes' anywhere from 1/4 inch to 1 1/2 inches, and that a typical kitchen set of cabinets uses most of them.

If you know a Home Depot you know them all in terms of layout and product offerings. I had been…read moreavoiding going into any Home Depot, but especially this one, for years but its been over a decade and we needed some gardening supplies so we figured this location would be the best. While there were no familiar faces, I was both amused and irritated by the blatant customer-avoidant behavior the store associates displayed that day. I watched one gentleman turn into the aisle my friend and I were in, look up and see us, did an immediate about-face with military precision and quickly retreated as fast as he could. Another walked by us, made brief eye contact, and then pulled out a piece of paper from his apron pocket staring at it as though it was the most interesting paper in the world. We checked out in the garden department with our bags of soil and little pots. The soil we bought had one of those easy to open tops that you just have to pull on. The cashier lifted the soil bag right at that spot tearing it open. My friend saw it but I didn't until we were loading the bag into the car. I shouldn't be surprised but I am disappointed.

When I was struggling to mount a shelf, I got advice from one of the employees who was super friendly and explained to me exactly how to screw in the L brackets I was struggling with. He walked me over to the aisle and showed me exactly which screws would and wouldn't work for my project and explained to me how the screws would interact with different wall materials. Most recently I dropped by just before they closed to pick up drywall paste and a pallette knife. Despite me walking in ten minutes before they were supposed to shut, they didn't make me feel rushed at all and helped me find what I was looking for. I always prefer supporting a local business and I love having a neighbourhood hardware supply store I can count on with employees who feel kinda like family.

I'm in here all the time for the essentials: gloves, those foam paint thing for stain, foam pads (also for stain.. can you tell I like to stain things?), tarps. All kinds of consumables you don't want to overpay for. They're consistently stocked, easy to grab, and priced right. Where this location really shines, though, is staff and tools. The staff are great, always helpful. Harbor Freight has come a long way, and the value is hard to beat. Especially for air tools! Solid performance at prices that make it easy to expand your setup without overthinking it. I recently picked up an orange rolling tool chest on sale and honestly couldn't be happier with it. Sturdy, smooth drawers, and an incredible deal for what you get. Also worth calling out: the Apache hard cases. These things are fantastic. I use them to keep gear dry, protected, and organized, and they punch way above their price point. No frills, no nonsense. Just good prices, useful gear, and a store that makes it easy to get in, get what you need, and get back to work. This place can be a reliable staple if you're building, fixing, or tinkering with just about anything.
