    hummus
    Maria M.

I stopped by Olba (@olba.me on Instagram) in Brookline and was impressed by how flavorful everything was. The hummus was my favorite, easily a 9/10, creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned (get it with the shwarma). The muhammara pita cup had great flavor (id recommend getting their party pita cups if you cater with them!) and the Fajita Lebanese sandwich was juicy and packed with garlic flavor. The spicy potatoes were a bit oily but still totally addictive, a solid 7/10. The kibbeh was golden and crisp on the outside with a savory filling that hit the spot. It's definitely more of a takeout or catering spot than a sit-down restaurant, but everything tasted fresh and homemade, the kind of food that makes you want to go back for more. 1383 Beacon St, Brookline, MA 02446

I really enjoyed my meal at Olba. My friend and I wanted an authentic Lebanese meal, and I have to say that this is probably the most authentic shawarma I've had in Boston. It was bursting with flavor and reminded me of home. I also have to give a shoutout to the tabbouleh - it was so fresh and delicious. The portions were huge and the food was filling, and it was very well priced as well. As for the ambience, it is quite small and crowded - but it is cozy. The servers were so lovely - they are all Lebanese, which really shows the authenticity of the place. They made us feel really welcome and it actually felt like we were in the Middle East! The food did take a while to come out though - but other than that no complaints. I'm so glad I tried Olba!

Small place inside, only a few chairs to sit, it's mostly for takeout. They serve the food in to go containers even if you eat there. Food is pretty good. Limited vegetarian options.

First time trying Olba- cute little spot, very homely and clean with plenty of seating. You order at the register - no servers. I got the beef shawarma plate; the meat was a bit dry but good flavor and the fries, pickled veg and sauce were really good. I also had the mint lemonade which was delicious. I will be back to try more!

The tartness of the lemon was balanced perfectly with the savory elements of the dish. The homemade phyllo dough is to die for. Baked to a perfect crisp, and full of bready aromas. Tsoureki (9/10): This sweet bread was also amazing. The whipped cream was delicious and tasted homemade. The maple yogurt was also delicious, adding just the right amount of acidity to cut through the sweetness of the dish. Breakfast Hilopites (7/10): Very unique dish. Our waitress described it as a "breakfast carbonara." The sausage was the best part of this dish. The pasta was tasty as well. Saganaki (3.5/10): The fried cheese is way too greasy. It comes in the pan, so there's a pool of grease still at the bottom. We had this dish last, and it felt like a bad way to finish the meal. The cheese itself was delicious (the nuts too), but the dish still lacked something to cut through the grease. Loukanikopita (8/10): The sausage was really good. All their phyllo dishes are awesome. The yogurt was good as well. Hortopita (7.5/10): Also a great phyllo dish. Yogurt was great. Loved the addition of dill. Souvla & Eggs (8/10): Lamb was very tender. Cooked and seasoned well. I think it was a tad too salty, though. The salad was light and refreshing, with a nice touch of acidity. Strapatsada (7/10): Solid dish. Not a must-order, but I did enjoy all the flavors and textures melding together. The sourdough was solid. We also had the Vlacha Cola, which was crisp and refreshing. Service is very friendly. I would definitely come back. I would say it's better than their sister restaurant, Krasi.

The beef cheek, on the other hand, had a mild but good taste, and the meat was very, very tender. The 6-dip spread was a fun experience and probably one of the more memorable things to order if you are with other people. The feta was definitely the best dip by far, while the others were okay. One thing to keep in mind is that you have to order bread separately, which is worth knowing before you commit to the dips. Overall, I still enjoyed the meal, but it felt a little mixed. There are some dishes I would gladly get again, and others I would skip.

Hands down, one of the best things I have tasted, period. It's crunchy, creamy, sweet, salty, savory, amazing in every way. The restaurant is worth a try for the cornbread alone. Unfortunately, everything else we tried was way over-salted, and I usually love salt! It was so salty that none of the other flavors stood out. The duck was cooked well, but a bit challenging to slice with the butter knife provided. The carrot puree was quite tasty, and everything was very beautiful and appetizing based on appearances. Such a shame that the flavors fell short, this place could be truly amazing if they dialed in the seasoning a bit. I will return, but just for drinks and cornbread next time. The cornbread truly is spectacular! Deducting another star for service as our waitress was a bit short with us. She seemed to be spread a bit thin so I understand being in a hurry, but for a meal over $100 (not even including drinks) we are used to more attentive service.

The rolls were stuffed with halloumi and were dense in the best way possible. Coupled with the louza charcuterie, the appetizers were a hit. The two entrees were small but mighty - they were packed with rich meats but also featured microgreens, herbs, and other tangy, bold flavors that really balanced the dishes. We got some glasses of Greek orange wine that I can't remember the name of but it paired excellently with the food per our waitress's recommendation.
