Ok...it takes a lot for me to give an airport restaurant 5 stars but I had a fantastic dinner from OHSO in the PHX airport. I will say, seating is super limited (a couple booths that are fenced off from the airport walkway) so keep that in mind- I ended up having to take out and eat at my gate. The food came out within 5 mins tho so that was nice. I tried the Pilgrim sandwich for $16.50. I will say, 100% worth it for the price (we're talking airport prices guys). The croissant bun was BIG and fluffy, and it came with a solid serving of fries. Tons of sprouts, a very hefty serving of turkey, and lots of cheese too. There isn't any sauce on the sandwich, just cranberry sauce on the side (which tasted and looked like jam so I skipped out) so keep that in mind (grab some mayo or something before you leave). There are not many choices in this terminal so when I am flying United Airlines, this is the place to stop for a cold brew and food. The beer is great and the food is above average. It will depend on what you get. Fries and a burger you can't go wrong. The Chinese chicken salad was also tasty but one can tell the chicken was not grilled themselves and is they type where you get at a Costco. Nevertheless, the food portions are above average and since the airlines don't give you food, it is perfect for a sit down if you are early and grab and go if you are running to your gate. This place knows how to handle airport flyers! We approached at about noon and it was packed. Our party of 3 was placed on a waiting list. The instant another group left, they called us over and cleared the table. Within 5 minutes, we had drinks and our orders were placed. Food came out about 12 minutes later. My husband had the BBQ burger, which looked great. The bread looked especially good. I had the kale and pear salad with added chicken. It was a big salad, but not too big. An entire chicken breast was sliced atop; it was perfectly cooked, not dried out at all. Everything was fresh, with the dressing as a nice complement. So this was a gem! I enjoyed my food so much! Pescatarian life is always difficult finding a good quality meal! But, I ordered the veggie burger and It was divine! I must say, I was kind of nervous. Most places that make veggie burgers, have burgers that taste like straight vegetables. To most maybe that's not a good thing, but for me it was delicious! It had more of a bean burger taste to it. The patty was cooked well with a nice spicy kick to it. But, last minute I ended up switching toppings that it cones with to the AZ Burger toppings and whoaaaaa! I found a winner! My daughters pizza was delicious, looked similar to NY style, she ate both slices! My oldest daughter had a basic burger with cheese and she usually doesn't finish the whole entire burger but she finished the entire thing! After an arduous morning shift at the morgue (I keep busy on Fridays), nothing sounded better than a nap or a relaxing weekend at home. Behold! Neither option was available because I had an evening flight to catch for a weekend of international travels! Without my homely comforts, I am no less cantankerous than the next person, and I decided that the surest means to soothe my poor mood was a pint of alcohol. After our patriotic song and dance with the TSA, a quick scan of the Sky Harbor Terminal 2 directory pointed us to OHSO, apparently the only restaurant in the corridor with a full bar: they serve their own line of beers (along with classic, domestic options), wine, and cocktails. Their menu is standard fare with burgers, sandwiches, salads, and shareable appetizers. Anticipating that our wallet would take the obligatory hit that accompanies most airport dining, we aimed for our bill to not exceed $30 - a nice, arbitrary goal for a meal for two. How well we did. My girlfriend ordered a tasty Crispin - she's keener on the sweeter side of things. I went with OHSO's own Brite beer (Pilsner, 4.5% ABV). I've lately been on a pilsner kick in light of leaving my IPAs behind; plus, I find they go well with just about everything. Thus, for an appetizer to share, we ordered chips and guacamole ($14). As expected, our bounty did not take long to arrive; they were seasoned tortilla chips with adequate sides of guacamole (with bacon), pico de gallo, and - much to our approval - queso fresco scattered about. This simple interlude was just the right medicine to bring peace to my day. With each gulp of beer, and consequently, about 85% of the ladyfriend's cider, I found myself gradually less concerned about the impending busyness of our weekend. This is why we drink, isn't it? We got the bill - it was $30, so we hit our mark. I was pleased with our visit; OHSO fulfilled the expectations we designated, and for that, I am most appreciative. Unfortunately, our server did forget the water we asked for. Airport foodservice staff - you mustn't forget the water. Since we're not allowed to bring our own through the security checkpoint, you'd best believe we'll seize the opportunity for free H2O if the opportunity arises. I knew that O.H.S.O. had a brick and mortar location in Phoenix, so I was glad to see a version of this at Sky Harbor Airport. Usually when I travel, I close my eyes and pick a place... a lesser of two evils, if you will. This time I think I went to O.H.S.O. because it had decent reviews on Yelp. Gotta trust my fellow travelers, right? There's one main reason I gave O.H.S.O four stars, and that's customer service. It's clear that this place is ALWAYS insanely busy, and it's nearly impossible for staff to keep up with the demand. Walkways are crowded with suitcases, and it's a relatively big restaurant for an airport. I'm sure everyone gets a workout as an employee. The pork spare ribs caught my eye (in addition to an IPA of course) and I ended up getting those for lunch. What I love about pork is the texture and how it cooks. Slather some BBQ sauce on that, and I'm in heaven. Getting my order in and food to my table took awhile, but the wait staff was apologetic. That meant a lot. The ribs were so good, especially the sauce. It also smelled amazing, to the point where the woman across from me asked what I ordered and wanted the same thing. Stopped here on my way home from Phoenix. Just needed a bite to eat before boarding. Ordered the AZ burger and a "Hoppy" beer (their west coast style IPA). Beer came in a 22 oz glass, which is a win in my book and the beer itself was a solid IPA. Burger was decent, but the bun was not toasted in any way... why?? A burger with a cold bun off the shelf is just a sin... every time I get a sandwich like this at a restaurant, I'm always surprised. Fries were ok, a little thin and boring. Halfway through my burger, my server stopped by and set another 22 oz beer in front of me and said, "bartender accidentally poured 2... want another?", I was like "sure!". My flight was running late, so whatever. I ended up focusing on the beers in front of me at this point. All in all, the food was good, not great, but damn. Man, OHSO's getting some flak on here. We've traveled a good amount, and airport restaurants are usually overpriced chains with poor service (probably due to overworked waiters who have to serve hundreds of people per day in a small restaurant setting) and less-than-stellar food. Phoenix's airport has done a great job of setting up local businesses in the place of the usual food joints. Although Airport OHSO doesn't serve up the same dog-friendly lazy weekend vibe as Main OHSO, it still is way better than the alternatives. Pro tips: 1) Don't try to eat here with 30 minutes until your flight. If you want to eat a relaxed meal in an airport, eat a relaxed meal in an airport. Give yourself 60+ minutes until boarding so you can chill. 2) The Cobb Salad is delicious. My husband and I were really just there for drinks, but we decided to split a salad, and our server was awesome and showed up with two cute Cobb salads on separate plates that looked like their own dishes. 3) Roll with it. We ordered a bloody mary and a beer. We got a bloody mary and two beers. Waiter realized he was serving us an extra immediately as he brought it over but still gave it to us, saying the bartender probably just messed up. We were happy to help the bartender correct his mistake. ;) Overall, OHSO put up stellar service and reasonably-priced food for an airport... and of course, great beer. It's pretty bad but it's the best option in Terminal 2, especially for gluten-free eaters. I think most travelers don't even realize this restaurant exists because it's further into the terminal. I got the Breakfast Bowl, which is filled with premade scrambled eggs, super greasy potatoes, cheese, pico de gallo & mediocre guacamole. I added bacon, which was the best part. My son was excited to try the Chicken & Waffles -- two of his favorite foods together! The chicken was too greasy to eat. I think it's premade and then re-fried. He had one bite of the chicken and one bite of the waffles (tasted reheated) and gave up. Again, the best part was the bacon -- thick, crispy, meaty and fresh-cooked. My one knock with some of the other restaurants is that they offer limited menus and aren't always as good as their original locations. What I love about this OHSO location is that they offer quite a bit of food options and have a pretty large beer selection. The other thing I love is that they are open late. My wife and I dropped into this place on a recent trip, while waiting for our flight out of Phoenix. In a nutshell, the food was good but the service was absolutely terrible. When we strolled up, we stood at the hostess stand like we were supposed to (there's a sign indicating at such), but it took quite a while for someone to finally help us. Our would-be waitress was too busy chatting it up with the bartender. Both of them had the personality of a fruit fly, and it was clear from the get-go that we were impeding their precious morning rants (about customers, tax cuts, etc.). When we finally got seated, menus were more or less checked at us, no recommendations, no friendly greeting, no interest whatsoever from the server. How can you be that burned out 30 minutes after starting your shift? Wow. We did finally order, including the biscuits and gravy dish and their classic breakfast. The food came out in short order, but service continue to be poor. Nobody asked if the food was okay, no drink refills offered, basically just ignored us until the plates were all but empty. The chatter and personal conversations kept going the whole time, so nobody at the bar got any service either. At one point the bartender even went to a table and just sat there to eat, where the lone server stopped numerous times to continue conversation with him. Apparently neither of them gave a shit. Also observed a couple of disgruntled workers wander out of the kitchen into the terminal, just out front of the restaurant, and proceed to bitch about work, including numerous f-bombs, right in front of the open patio. Keeping it classy, right? The food itself wasn't bad, and I actually really liked the bacon and the amount of kick in the gravy. I would definitely eat it again, although not at this airport location. That's the only reason this place gets 2-stars instead of the 1-star it probably deserves. If the server had been even remotely pleasant or given a single refill, I could have easily given a couple more stars, but service matters. Can't recommend this place. Didn't grab any food, this place seems the best for a beer aficionado, considering it's the only place tied to a brewery I could find. I'm an IPA fan, and their HOPPY beer, a NA IPA, was delicious - smells of citrus hops and orange soak the aroma but pine takes the taste, which is amazing.
