Well well well, coming back from the last Ole Miss playoff game (Hotty Toddy), I somehow got lucky to be at the Terminal right beside Wildflower. I had ventured for a place to sit and do work in other terminals but nothing caught my eye. So I walked to my gate and lo and behold there it was. I wanted soup and they had a couple of choices, the sweet man let me taste them before I picked. When I finally got my meal and checked in, I saw the rating and whoa! It's rated high, an airport restaurant rated high? Unheard of! Service was stellar! These people really love their job! Claps loudly! There are a few tables and chairs to dine at. I sat by a groovy couple and talked about the OM loss. Fun to sit by strangers, turned friends, for a few minutes. Some people enter your life with purpose; a spark that changes your direction, a season that leaves you warmer than it found you, a lifetime that feels like home, or a brief encounter that still lingers long after they've gone. I was leaving the Phoenix Airport and was looking to take food on the plane. I found Wildflower off Terminal A gate A9. When I walked up to the counter everything looked so fresh. It wasn't fully packed but there was a sample of each item to show you what it looked like. I was having a hard time choosing between the BLT Plus and the spicy Cuban, so I asked for a recommendation from the person behind the counter. They suggested The BLT Plus, so that's what I went with. They also had a great selection of soups and I thought that would be very comforting, so I asked them for their suggestion on that as well and we decided to go with this spicy tortilla soup. I was able to wrap this together in a soup and sandwich combo for $14.50 which I thought was a great price, especially in the airport. After about an hour in flight I decided to bring out my dinner. I started with the soup as it was still slightly warm and as soon as I took off the lid I could smell the delicious spices. My first bite told me everything. This was delicious! It tasted fresh and had great chunks of corn and black beans. It was rich and had a great texture and a nice kiss of spice. As for the sandwich, it came with turkey, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado all on a soft baked fresh bread. This again was delicious. It had great flavor and was moist, and didn't taste like something you would get out of the airport. I was very impressed. Next time if I have time, I'm going to try to eat this at their station just so I can have the soup hot. But everything traveled really well. Sometimes in the airport you're limited on the types of food you can choose from. Most come with a fast food feel and sometimes you want a little bit more. Wildflower serves both the needs. We tried the Wildflower Location at the airport in terminal 4. We got an oriental chicken salad and a spicy cuban sandwich. I was really surprised (in a good way) on how great the salad really was. It was filled with deluxe vegetables like rainbow carrots, shaved brussels sprouts, and rainbow chard. The chicken in it was also especially good. It was either poached or sous vide. The chicken was moist and flavorful. It would have been better if they cut up the chicken a little more but still it was good. I did think that the dressing had too much soy sauce and not enough peanut but it was ok. The roll they gave me was a bit dried out so I didn't eat it. My husband liked the spicy cuban sandwich too. This is my favorite airport stop in PHX so much so I will go out of my way to gate A9 to get the chopped salad. They've change the layout on the plate but it's still the same great taste year over year. If you are a regular patron of wildflower you know that weekends holidays like Labor day that breakfast runs until 2 pm, so since we were flying outst 5pm. We got to the airport way early to eat breakfast for the 3 of us that were traveling to plan my father in law's funeral. Not knowing what we were heading toward when we go across the country we made due we were going to a long stay in the terminal and it being one if my kids 1st time on a plane. The menu was much completely. There was no cesddffslf option oh protein such as salmon I ended up getting chicken which was out barely visible. There was more chick peas than lettuce which was kale ldont think I had any I got an extra dressing, which I should have been notified that I did not need. I also ordered a scone, which was hard as a rock and non-edible two hours later and thrown away. My son got a kids sandwich and an extra cookie and a flavor he did not order, but since we were running tight on time and there was a line, I did not complain to Management I also ordered a pecan loaf since it was Christmas time and the Christmas loaf or pecan loaf was very very very dry. Overall, it was a poor experience compared to experiences prior at different parts of the airport that were just for pick up which I utilized on my way back and I came back at dinner time and got the cow romaine salad with adding chicken and it was a very good salad with extra dressing. My family and I have been regulars of Wildflower, especially on Sundays and when we go up to Sedona. So overall, I was disappointed by the airports experience, especially considering the price being much higher because you're in the terminal.. and we ended up sitting next to the pilot of our plane and he did say that the quality of Wildflower has gone down, especially when he has more than three hours between flights. We just know now not to go to Wildflower or pre-order via the app.. we will only use the app for Wildflower at the Glendale arrowhead and Litchfield Park locations. Ordered a breakfast egg white tomato feta sandwich which was pretty decent. I was able to share with my husband. Very light and yet filling-the egg whites were moderately seasoned with good amount of tomato. I got a hint of the feta and a good taste of basil as well. Coffee was good. Glad they were able to offer a variety of milk options like oat milk, cream and regular milk. I opted for the oat of course. Our last trip we also got a lunch sandwich but I don't remember what sandwich I got but I think it was good. I'll come back for convenience and service. read more
