Get the green machine - it is so good! Every time I'm in terminal 4, even if I'm not at a D gate, I try to make the trek to Sip for this smoothie. It's protein packed, and delicious. If you're allergic or not a fan of nut butters they're also able to make it without the almond butter (I like it better w the almond butter but last time I went they were all out). I also tried a chocolate banana muffin (warmed) and it was good but honestly a little too much on the salty side for my preference. (This place is by no means cheap but it's good. If anyone knows what protein & supergreen powders they use please let me know cause I'd love to recreate it at home when I'm not traveling.)

I had a connecting flight in phoenix, and during that short layover I decided to grab a drink and sit down. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I stumbled across Sip Coffee & Beer, and it was a lovely reprieve from waiting around in an airport[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The layout is fairly open, with limited seating, but you can always take your order to-go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are two main sections, the coffee section and the bar (alcohol section). They are both connected, but both have slightly different vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have coffee store type foods as well as bar type foods The staff were friendly and helpful. I only ordered a beer, but it came out quickly. I came in a plastic pint glass that looked glass, but I was disappointment with the plastic feel in terms of weight and temperature Some tips: They have local beers to try, and if you're just passing thru it's a great opportunity to try local phoenix brews Cheers!!

Service was very fast. The empanadas were great- very warm. I do wish they served breakfast later than 10:30 on the weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is in the nicer, lighter section of the southwest terminal[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

Hadn't been to the D gate in terminal 4 for a while and was excited to see all the new spots! I've been to the sip location in Acadia a couple times and have liked it. I got a cold brew with oat milk and honey and just a cup of milk for my son. I did have to clarify like 5 times that I wanted a cup of whole milk and then they forgot about it and I had to ask again haha. But I got it and the coffee was pretty good! Not overly milky, felt like maybe the honey didn't mix in too well but otherwise it was really good and I'd stop by again if I fly out of this gate in the morning!

My go to spot when I'm working. I love that they have free refills. All the staff are very friendly and informative. The food is tasty too. I love their avocado toast and their tamales.

Somehow, everytime I have a flight or layover out of PHX, my gate ends up right next to Sip Coffee and Beer. It doubles as a coffee/breakfast spot in the morning and drink/dinner spot in the afternoon and dinner. It's not the best option in the airport but it's always been convenient to my gate. On my last trip here, we had a layover in Phoenix. If you know this airport, you will have a nice long walk to your gate. This works up that hunger and thirst. I needed coffee and a quick breakfast before boarding. Sip has a pretty basic coffee list. There's really nothing that stands out or unique. Vanilla latte was my choice drink and they charged a whopping extra dollar to substitute my dairy choice. You already know how overpriced airport grub is to start with. I also got a Breakfast Sammie which just comes with scrambled eggs and American cheese on a bun. They charged an additional 3 bucks for some protein. All in, my very simple breakfast was over 20 bucks. Highway robbery, but it's the going rate at any airport really. The wait for my items was awhile. Luckily I had time to kill. The latte was ok, nothing to write home about. It was basically almond milk with a splash of coffee and a bunch of vanilla syrup. The sandwich was not impressive. It was totally something I could create at home quickly. They did have a decent selection of pastries and empanadas which I should have went with. Sip is definitely not something I would trek across the airport for, but in a bind, it will do.

Breakfast bowl with turkey sausage and guacamole $18

Came across this place in the airport looking for a decent breakfast that wasn't processed food from the convenience stores. Got the breakfast bowl. The eggs were definitely microwaved, none of it tasted fresh. Very disappointing.

    Breakfast bowl

Ordered a breakfast bowl and coffee $20. Coffee was good, but due to the breakfast bowl, I have to give it a "0" I was able to eat the bacon and cheese, but there is no way these eggs are real. Could not bring myself to eat whatever this is

A nice place in terminal D, right in front of 12-13. I got an americano and the breakfast burrito. The burrito was okayyyyy, it has so much potential!! The potatoes in it are so good. The eggs however were not. They were half rubber half burnt. Almost like they came from the side of whatever pan they were cooked in. If the eggs were good this burrito would literallyyyy be so good. Even if they were chopped up more and not burnt it would have been so much better. Price was good considering its the airport. $20 total with some tip in there. The girl with the pink hair took my order, was super nice and such a nice energy to be around at 5am. I will come back but probably wouldn't get the burrito again.

Service was quick and efficient, as they had a good amount of employees behind the counter. Anastasia provided service with a smile. I stopped in around 4pm since my flight was delayed was delayed by an hour. May as well get a draaaank!! lol The place is pretty busy, but they called my name out for my drink before I could even walk that way from the register! There's ample seating in a casual environment, and the bar seats face some of the D gates. I wanted the Michelada, but they ran out of Modelo, so I had to go with my 2nd choice, the Blue Lagoon. It's right up my alley. Perfect amount of ice and vodka, with my fruity twist! At $16, you know you're at the airport, but whatevs. Nothing can change that. It was well worth it, though. I also got a Beef Empanada which was delicious! Not a dinky size, either. They have 6 kinds, but my stomach only had room for one. I'd definitely try more next time. If you have time for a drink or two, pop in! They also have breakfast items and non-alcoholic drinks for the kiddos. =)

Had time to kill before my flight home and was desperate for something that wasn't fast food aka BURGERS (normally I am the biggest burger lover, but I I wasn't the biggest fan of the options in the terminal). I took a chance on this place and ordered 3 empanadas: - Spinach - Ground beef - Chicken The pastry had no flavor and everything was reeeaaaallllly salty, especially the spinach. I didn't like that the chicken was shredded (would've been better in chunks), and it was missing spice. The beef was also missing spice. Save yourself the disappointment and just get a sandwich somewhere else.

The chicken tenders were fire!!! What is lacking on this occasion was service. The server that we had was so unattentative. I have never been in a cocktail lounge in my life and had to beg for drinks. Our server would wait until every drinks was made for all of her tables before bringing out drinks. It was ridiculous. She was nice but seemed high. I ended up only having 2 drinks. We would have ordered more but they have 90min max seating and we didn't event get drinks for the first 30min. No exaggeration. Also one of my drinks I had to send back. My apple martini tasted like soap. It was like they did clean the glass after giving a soap bath. No bueno. So they need to get their service to match the vibe of a true cocktails lounge. Yes it is a 70s vibe but doesn't mean the lackadaisical style service. I would come back and try again. The music, the atmosphere and the food was good. They gotta get these cocktails together and service. We ended up walking to nearby competitors and that was money lost for DDG.

From the moment we arrived, the restaurant had such great vibes. There was also a subtle, almost secretive animal theme throughout the space that added a really cool touch. The hostess and waitstaff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The drinks were good, but the food was definitely the star. The milk bread was absolutely delicious, and the pibil dumplings were also really good. My only complaint is that they only came with three pieces, which felt a little expensive for the portion. The beef tartare was another standout. It was delicious on its own and paired really well with the banana chip, which added a nice contrast in texture and flavor. I would probably skip the white oak grilled skewers, though. They were pretty burnt, and unfortunately, they didn't really stand out to me compared to the other dishes. The ribeye was cooked to absolute perfection. We asked if they could prepare the two halves of the ribeye at different temperatures since my wife prefers her steak closer to medium, and they were more than happy to accommodate us. They even comped our milk bread because it took a little longer than expected to come out, which was a really nice gesture. Overall, an excellent experience from start to finish. Great atmosphere, fantastic service, and some really memorable dishes. Definitely recommend checking this steakhouse out if you're in the Phoenix area!

But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. If the service were better, Killer Whale Sex Club would easily be a five-star experience.

Back then, the cocktails felt intentional and creative, not just rushed out for volume. The staff remembered regulars, conversations flowed naturally, and the whole place had this warm, eclectic energy that made you want to stay for hours. Even on busy nights, it somehow still felt personal. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, the vibe has changed quite a bit. The drinks just aren't as consistently good as they used to be, especially considering the prices now. Service feels far more transactional and impersonal, and the atmosphere that once made this place stand out has faded into something much more generic. It feels less like a neighborhood gem and more like a stop on a nightlife circuit.

Everyone was friendly, professional, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling overbearing. The service honestly matched the upscale atmosphere perfectly and made the whole experience feel even more polished. And OMG... the food. SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. Like genuinely one of those meals where every single bite makes you pause for a second because it tastes that incredible. I got the chicken orzo along with the lime icebox cake for dessert, and both were absolutely amazingggg. The chicken orzo was phenomenal. The lemon flavor throughout the orzo was bright, fresh, and flavorful without being overpowering, and the tomatoes were the PERFECT addition because they balanced everything so well and added a little sweetness and freshness to the dish. But the chicken... wow. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while still being super juicy and tender inside, which is honestly hard to do. Every component of the dish worked together perfectly. Magnificent is genuinely the best word for it. I received five very small slices of apple, and when the plate was set down the waitress said she'd get more if needed. I later noticed I was charged $2 for an additional five slices, which together didn't even amount to half an apple. Ironically, the bread that comes with the dish would have been far more substantial. The burrata was fine, but nothing memorable. My friend ordered the chicken and brussels sprouts and didn't even finish it before having the plate taken away. The flourless almond cake was the star, a bit salty on its own, but with the ice cream and whipped cream it was a delightful combo which were the highlight. Overall, this is a great spot for cocktails, ambiance, and photos, but the food is fairly mediocre compared to the setting.

Only downside is that…read morefor some reason Apple maps was not accurate to finding the location and parking was a challenge as it is right on Roosevelt Row. However as soon as I found it and immediately after entering Pretty Penny I was transformed to the cutest little restaurant. I was greeted immediately and had made a reservation so even though my friend hadn't arrived yet, they sat me down. They instantly offered water and menus (food and cocktail). I noticed that the menu seemed very small and the dishes were shareable -- I don't eat meat so I was hoping my friend wouldn't mind sticking with fish and seafood (which she didn't). As soon as I got to my table there was the cutest sign that said welcome to Sarah Sherman and guest -- it was such an adorable and personal touch, I loved that! As soon as my friend got there we immediately both ordered the cold brew old fashioned -- we thought about the espresso martini but this just sounded too good to pass up -- and we were not disappointed! This drink was so tasty and strong. We immediately ordered the bread (sourdough boule) to soak up some of the alcohol as well as some oysters and the salsa. The oysters were so well spiced and were absolutely delicious. But the bread, the bread, the bread -- the server mentioned that it took almost 9 months to develop the bread recipe and it served. It was the best bread and butter that I think I have ever had! The salsa was good but probably was my least favorite of everything and it was still super yummy. We then moved on to the octopus tostadas. Sometimes octopus is not my fav -- it can be too chewy but this was so amazing and incredibly flavorful. It was starting to be my favorite dish until we ordered the Hamachi -- OMG!! Talk about a mouth orgasm-- both my friend and I were yummming it up -- but seriously this bite was so complex with different flavors coming up with every chew -- it has coriander candied peanuts, fermented pineapple, avocado, pickled fresno, toasted coconut and aji amarillo yogurt -- The server mentioned that this was the chef's least favorite dish which I totally do not understand because this was off the charts in my book. We also tried the earl gray whiskey sour, which was light and delicious, and ended with the shrimp toast and the espresso martini. By the way the toast on the shrimp toast was like a little fried dough triangle -- sooooo gooood! The martini was good but the cold brew old fashioned really stole the spotlight for me. Other details I loved that just elevated the experience: Purse hook (very important to me), the little trays for your utensils, metal coasters, incredibly attentive servers, fantastic music, great ambiance and the cutest was the penny they put on top of your check. So cute -- was not expecting such an enjoyable all around experience!! Will be back 1000%!!!

It was pretty good but certainly not worth the titular pretty penny price--and we didn't even get…read morethe recommended 8 dishes, which is, like, the entire menu. To start, the menu is a bit puzzling. It's kind of like a handful of Asian-inspired dishes, a handful of Mexican/South American, and a handful of French or New American. But there's not enough of each to chart a course through one type of cuisine. So, basically you're gonna have a cultural melange meal. Hamachi crudo was really good and fairly unique. The halibut was excellently prepared but not particularly innovative in any way I could tell. Zucchini had goat cheese, which wasn't immediately clear from the description, so I didn't enjoy the rude surprise I got when I took my first bite, and didn't eat anymore, as I really despise the stuff. So that was a waste. Not a dig on the dish, just a personal thing I wish I had more notice of. There were other issues though. The wine list was exceptionally small, They were out of the bread, which is supposedly a must-try. And then we were going to get the steak but the folks next to us advised against it, showing their cut that had zero fat. They said it was leather. On that point, the tables are SUPER CLOSE. Like, a couple inches apart. You hear everything and almost can't avoid getting entwined into others' conversation. We liked the people we were next to, but be aware that it's an unintentionally awkward communal experience that's not well-suited to a date night. The service was pretty good, they put out a nice printed greeting with the reservation name, and give you a sparkling wine toast. But considering the price and overall experience we had, I'd pass and not come back.
