Dreamcatcher Salad (lettuce underneath). 5 Stars.

The Courtyard Cafe was a nice surprise. I expected overpriced, boring, and bland food typical of "venues." That is not the case at The Courtyard. The Dreamcatcher salad is absolutely beautiful, and when it is placed on your table, the salad's name becomes readily apparent. This $17 salad is big enough to share or to fill up one eater for lunch. The Fry Bread with Tepary Hummus is nice and light, not greasy at all. The bread is served in points with the Tepary Hummus in the center. This appetizer can easily meet the needs of two to three diners. The Prickly Pear Lemonade is very pink and good, mostly tasting of lemons. The Guacamole was very good and abundant, but the chips tasted factory made and were a bit salty. Service at 12:30 pm on a Thursday was fast and efficient.

Delish fry bread & tepiary bean hummus - very good.

Today our chicken lime soup was good. Sadly the fry bread was Not fresh and when I was offered another I believe the manager Melissa returned the same bread to us because on the bottom were the two pieces with the bites in them.that was very nasty to do.

After visiting the museum we were starving and decided to eat at the Cafe once we noticed there were some authentic dishes on the menu. We were seated immediately outside and ordered Prickly Pear Lemonade. We then started with the hummus and fry bread since I always order fry bread anytime I can. So yummy and delicious. Our party each ordered different things and enjoyed our food. Definitely worth visiting while at the museum.

Ambiance is wonderful! I had read about the Pozole soup being amazing but it sure wasn't! It was served Luke warm no avocado, just fair. Turkey sandwich with Brie said it was sourdough but it's actually sandwich bread. Guacamole was delicious! Fry bread and bean dip was also tasty. Nice stop after seeing the museum. Cerviche was very good!

I came here on a lunch date with my husband because they had two of the must-eat in Arizona items on their menu. The prickly pair cactus lemonade and fry bread. The prickly pear lemonade really was good! My husband usually can't have lemonade because the sharp citrus flavor catches his throat but he had no issues with this one. He actually had most of it himself! Subtle sweetness. None of that sourness and just an overall good drink. For the appetizer we got the Teparay Bean Hummus with Fry Bread. Asked for no olive oil because we wanted the hummus without the extra fat. This dish was a total win! Hummus was smooth and flavorful. I could eat it just by itself! Fry bread was also soft and fluffy and warm too. Everything was perfect about this. Another great part is that the fry bread was actually baked and not deep fried. Took away so much of the guilt I was going to have from eating fry bread. My husband liked his Birria beef Street Tacos. Fresh and juicy beef, good amount of portion size, and really fresh and good tacos overall. He got the sauce on the side which went really well with the tacos. Also got a side salad which he enjoyed. I asked for the Sweet and Spicy Mustard Chicken Salad with dressing on the side and this was not at all what I expected! VERY BIG NO ON THIS! I order salads at restaurants all the time and whenever I see a chicken salad it's always a salad with all the veggies and such and then grilled chicken on top with the dressing put on top of that or on the side if I ask for it. This was not at all like that. It was like one of those pre-made chicken salads with everything all mixed in. The server did bring some dressing on the side and until I took a bite It wasn't very clear that everything was all mixed with the dressing already. I called the server and asked about it and she said it was already pre-made. I asked for the veggies and chicken separate with dressing separate, or at least some mixed greens on the side so i could balance out the strong flavor. She got the greens but then the manager also came with and picked up my plate of salad and took it away saying that they would get me a new one. Server asked me if this was any better, and all I had in front of me was a plate of mixed greens and some dressing on the side. I didn't know what to say but said I would get back when I get my salad. I waited about 10 to 15 minutes but nothing came. Meanwhile my husband and I heard the kitchen cleaning up. Call the server and she said they were all done and there was no new salad being made for me. WHAT A SHOCK! I asked if they at least had some plane chicken left, but nothing. I actually ended up eating a plate of greens and dressing. Yes, the dressing was good but this was not at all a good end to the meal. The server was kind throughout, but that manager really did not provide the service expected.

The Courtyard Cafe is, aptly, in the courtyard of the Heard Museum. They have indoor and outdoor seating--I'd recommend outdoor if weather permits to enjoy the water features and ambiance. Front of the house is so friendly and the service is great. I've eaten here before and always stuck with southwestern fare. I tried the banh mi this time and was really disappointed. The shrimp were a bit fishy, the baguette was grocery store quality, and while the pickled veggies were fine, the whole sandwich was doused in sweet and sour. I'd highly recommend sticking with tacos, quesadillas, and the like.

Marisa our waiter was so sweet and her customer service was top notch. The food was fresh and portion sizes were very feeling. The place is located in a beautiful setting with trees and flowers and the breezy weather makes the whole experience absolutely perfect to enjoy lunch with the family.

Fry bread, beans, and tacos with side salads

This is a beautiful place to eat a meal or a snack while people-watching during your visit to the museum. We sat in the shade next to the water fountain while enjoying the tacos (comes with a side salad) and the fry bread with beans (best eaten right away when warm). The fry bread platter serves two (4 triangles each), or one person with or without leftovers (I took 3 pieces home for later); the kitchen also made me a side salad so I could get my veggies. The margarita on the menu was tempting, but I eventually decided against it. The server was nice and prompt, and we were back among the exhibits in half an hour.

This is my at-least-once-a-month spot for catching up with friends, popping in solo, or grabbing a "just one drink" that may or may not turn into two. The beer selection is massive, borderline intimidating, and the wine list rotates often, which I love. Pro tip: don't play beer roulette unless you enjoy surprises that might hurt your feelings. Instead, tell the bartender what you like and they'll work their magic, usually with a taste so you don't commit to something you regret. As a wine drinker, I especially appreciate when they suggest something I wouldn't normally order and absolutely nail it. The vibe is casual but a sort of kind of sexy (weird). The dim lighting, great energy, and zero pressure might be it. Bar seating up front, games if you're feeling social, and high tables in the back for groups or communal mingling. It's the kind of place where you can settle in... or pop in, pop out, and still feel satisfied without spending your rent money. They have small bites like grilled cheese and occasional cheese plates, but let's be honest, this is not a food destination, and that's perfectly fine. My beer-loving friends can happily sample half the menu while I sip a perfectly chilled Sauvignon Blanc and judge none of it. And finally, the real MVPs: the bartenders. Always friendly, always helpful, always down to chat, especially if you're there solo (hi, it's me again!). They'll listen to you ramble, offer great suggestions, and somehow make you feel like a regular even if you're just stopping in briefly. Reliable, fun, unpretentious, and consistently solid. The Whining Pig is a downtown staple for a reason.

I remember touring the administrative offices, the dining hall, the classrooms, the residence halls, and other random buildings, but the most memorable stop was The Pub, which was rooted in much Thunderbird tradition. Now, years later with a new building in place at ASU, I was delighted to learn that The Pub still exists but in a new space (on the fifth floor). I recently stopped by to see what it looked like and try one of their dishes. In the spirit of Thunderbird, at The Pub, it is said that "global flavors and local charm come together to create an unforgettable dining experience." This is a great place for a meal with co-workers, hosting a gathering for a special celebration, or having a low-key meal. I took a book and gave it a try on my own. The sides include chicken wings, chicken tenders, hummus snack plate, or various ways to prepare fries. They have soup, salad, flatbread, entree bowls, and many burgers and sandwiches. They also have all sorts of drink options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). It was national root beer float day (or something of the sort), so every burger came with a free root beer float. I jumped at that and got the Thunderbird Pub Burger (seasoned 6oz all beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, American Cheese, signature pub sauce Brioche Bun, served with Crispy French Fries). It was delicious!! In fact, it was better than delicious when paired with a free root beer float! They have regular hours of noon to 5 PM on weekdays (though they are open until 9 PM on Thursdays. They do have seasonal hours when they close early or entirely when classes are not in session. Happy hour specials are from 3-5 PM daily. While there are many great places to eat at ASU, I certainly recommend The Pub at Thunderbird.
