Definitely a good spot for drinks out with friends. The place is in a popping spot in the Chinatown area and got super lucky with parking. The vibe is pretty cool inside it's the music, the dim lighting, and the enclosed booths so you feel pretty much there with just your group. The staff is super friendly and super stylish, thought that they were cool *insert sunglasses emoji lol*. The menu is pretty core Korean restaurant item and we ended up ordering the Cheesy Tteokbokki, the Squid Bibimbap and the Short Rib Soup. The Tteokbokki was pretty ok, but just a little bit plain for me. The squid bibimbap was just what I expected and hoped for so I was happy with that. And the soup was honestly a huge amount of really really good meat, so def recommend again, but the seasoning cup that came with it was a little bit not enough so maybe I'd ask for more next time. Ohn is pretty much a staple amongst the younger crowd that ventures around the area. If you're under 25, into Asian culture, and don't know about Ohn, you will at some point, especially after a late night out. I've been back a few times over the years and the food is frequently good. The Kimchi friend rice is tasty, made creamy from the poached egg. The Yangnyeom wings are good and will satisfy your chicken cravings, albeit they don't really hold a candle to other KFC (Korean fried chicken) that specializes in it. I was told the Yangnyeom Belly's fried and was under the impression it'd be crisp, but it was actually a bit chewy in texture although the flavor is there + along with the palate cleansing pairings of the side dishes. Feel free to fight me when I say the corn cheese is the best thing-- I love corn and cheese, I love corn cheese, and I especially devour'd Ohn's corn cheese which has a great, slightly sweet flavor and charred cheese on top. Yum yum yum. I will admit that the environment is a little overstimulating for me, with its bright colors and k-pop playing on screen and k-pop blasting through the speakers. But hey, that's me and not the fault of the establishment. The egg was the one that amplified the kimchi fried rice. The bone-in yangnyeom chicken was GOOD! I think that was the best of what I tried tonight. We were looking for a Korean bar open late a night so we could do some serious soju drinking. Ohn was one of the only places in Houston that seemed to fit our needs. It still boggles my mind how early things close in Texas. We got in around midnight and stayed till close. In terms of food we had the brisket ramyeon and the squid bokkeum. Had Korean Fried Chicken and Kim Chi Fried Rice. It was pricey - $26 for rice and chicken. The eatery was packed. Close to ChinaTown. Chicken was spicy, sweet and crunchy. Fried rice was spicy but lacked flavor/depth and it was soggy. The ambiance is dark and "clubby" with TV screens playing loud Korean music videos. Servers only come by when you ring the service bell. They serve nonalcoholic and alcoholic drinks featuring soju. Drinks were even pricier. I had the Seoul Mule (soju, vodka, ginger beer and lychee) and it was very watered down. The ramen soup tasted right out of the package. The vegetables and meat didn't make it taste any better. A bowl of French Fries with special "sauce" (ketchup/mayo mixed together) was $5.50. This isn't authentic Korean food. It's westernized Korean food and it's owned by a Vietnamese chef! read more

The mozzarella complimented the rice cakes more than anticipated. Highly pleased! I think they should remove the "dumplings" bland and served no purpose. Wings were phenomenal!!! I LOVE how late Ohn is open. We came after a festival, and it hit the spot. Food isn't super expensive like many other Korean places, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. If I am going to be honest in my review, here it is.... we ordered creamy spaghetti (5 star), cream corn (2), chicken wings (1), bulgogi fries (1), and all the side dishes they prepare for you. We were a party of 3 and also ordered the gummy beer soju (which had no alcohol I'm sure because the guy told us they had a miscommunication). It's got just the right amount of spice and love the chewy rice cakes and fish cakes, but its a large portion especially if only a few people like it. Army soup - personally not a fan of spam or cabbage so this was just meh to me. A good filler soup but not amazing by any means. Soju - half off carafes on Sunday's! They think we brought in outside food so they told us not to open in the restaurant. And they do this to all of us who came in at different time point. We came for dinner the other night and ordered the short ribs, both flavors of wings, and the kim chi fried rice with pork belly. The short ribs were my least favorite, with sweet flavor wings being my preference over the spicy, but my favorite was the kim chi fried rice with the egg and pork belly. From the outside, Ohn doesn't look like much. Once inside, it looks more of like a bar, but with individual private bench tables and wooden wall dividers. It was also quite dark, which was deceiving since it was still bright outside when I arrived. I came here for an early GNO dinner. The most memorable dish our table ordered was the Army Stew. It was so comforting to eat, especially with the spicy kimchi paste mixed with ramen and spam. There was enough to feed our group of 5 people. I also enjoyed the tonkatsu because it was crispy and had a wonderful Worcester-like sauce on top. Now, I have to talk about what I didn't enjoy here. We ordered their watermelon soju pitcher, which was enough for more than 5 people. Well, unless your party drinks a lot. Lol. But, there wasn't sufficient watermelon flavor. It still tasted much like regular soju, which I wasn't not a fan of because it tasted like what I think gasoline tasted like. Also, at some point, it just tasted watered down like you were just drinking water. I think this pitcher was a waste of money. Another dish that was just ok was the fish cake soup, which paled in comparison to the army stew in depth of flavor. Now, my sister and friends really enjoyed the kream spaghetti, which was basically Alfredo sauce mixed with kimchi sauce over spaghetti. I didn't particularly like this fusion dish, but some people may enjoy it. Other than that, what I did not appreciate from this establishment was the fact that they had the nerve to slap an 18% gratuity to our party of 5, when they explicitly stated they'd charge gratuity only for a party of 6 or more. I think one of our friends came late towards the end of our dinner, and she didn't even eat or drink anything. So, mainly because of this, I won't be coming back here. Not to mention the fact that this spot is not in the safest complex behind the main Bellaire Boulevard. There was a cop car stationed outside, so that's a sign that this spot was sort of sketchy. I've been here twice now! The food is really great! The items that stood out for me are: kimchi, kimchi fried rice, tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), wings, kimchi fries, and corn cheese. Owner berates all his employees and he enjoys talking sh*t about his employees to his friends that visit him (they like to leech on him for free food). I was so excited to see that Ohn re-opened after a 1.5 year closure. It was one of my favorite Korean restaurants prior to closure. My recent visit was a bit disappointing overall. The food was not at its best as it was before. There was a price increase, which I typically wouldn't mind if the food was up to par. The most disappointing I would say was the corn cheese. It used to be amazing but I feel like they changed the recipe as it was incredibly thick (not in a good way) and lacked flavor. Please find the original cooks and go back to the old recipe! The soju "carafe" had shrunken and is practically just a normal drink size for $16. The Kream Spaghetti was a highlight and just as good as before. Overall my experience was ok. Tuck away in a small plaza in Chinatown. Before, I had no interest in checking out this place, but we were in the area. Also, we were craving Korean food, so why not? We love sharing the Soy Garlic Wings ($8.75) and Kimchi Fried Rice ($10.50 + $3 for pork belly) and snacking on the included tasty side dishes while we wait. Other things on the menu I'd recommend is the spicy corn cheese, it's popular for good reason and makes a great appetizer. My only complaint would be the soju, not the flavor but the price. For $15, I would expect it to be a sharable size but it's really more for one person. It would be better if they sold it for $8 a piece and it would be more justifiable.
