Korea Garden has been around for decades, and it's one of those places I keep coming back to. Korean food in general has gotten pricier over the years, and lunch here will run you around $20-$30, but the quality is consistently good. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Gal Neung combo (naengmyun + galbi). The naengmyun was excellent--chewy noodles, broth ice cold (but not watery), and a delicious flavor that hit the spot. Honestly, it's one of the better naengmyun options in Houston, though I'd still rank Dallas, LA, and of course Korea above it. The galbi was just as good: perfectly barbecued, served sizzling on a mini grill, sweet and savory with just the right amount of char. A couple notes: the lunch special doesn't come with rice (makes sense since the naengmyun is the carb), but you do get a nice assortment of side dishes. Don't expect dessert though--no fruit, shikhye, or yogurt drink that you might find at other Korean spots. The restaurant itself is quite large, with semi-private booths that work well for meetings. I asked for privacy and they kindly accommodated me with a booth in the back. The atmosphere is clean, dimly lit, and feels a little upscale. Parking is also easy, with plenty of spots right in front--no valet hassles. Service was generally good, though it was clear they didn't want us lingering too long. The check came out early, and even after paying we were asked several times if we needed anything else, which made it feel a little rushed. All in all, if you're looking for solid Korean food in Houston, Korea Garden is a great choice. It's not cheap, and it's not a place to camp out for hours, but the quality of the food--especially the naengmyun and galbi--make it worth a visit.

We've come several times- cook at the table or not- this round we got the bulgogi and Galbi, kimchi pancake, tteokbokki , cold noodles and seafood tofu soup. Great place to come with a group! Service was hit or miss but the manager was very nice- they made the wrong meats but gave us extra galbi- good news is that we. Discovered we really liked the chicken- so tender and a little sweet.

Good food and atmosphere. Service and ambiance: This is nicely decorated and organised restaurant. The booth was comfortable and the grill for meat cooking was clean. The service was good. All staff were attentive and friendly. Food and drinks: The menu lists many different types of food and dishes. This is no buffet style restaurant so you can't reorder meat dishes. You can instead order combos which normally serve 2-3 people. You can always order extra dish on top of the combo. The meats were well cut and seasoned/marinated. The side dishes tested well too and you can reorder those without extra charge. There are alcoholic beverages on the menu if you are interested. Pricing: $$$ good quality comes with price.

Came here for family birthday lunch and it was fantastic! First of all the flavors were all there. We are a Korean family so we are always looking for a place that satisfies everyone's appetites and this was it. The meat was delicious, the banchan was on point, and of course all of the stews were delish. My dad always get ggomtang where he can. None of us tried it because we don't like those organs but he slurped it down. The special grain rice was delicious and everyone ate that up as well as the bibimbap. My sister got the squid in spicy sauce and I got the mackerel lunch with the daenjang jiggae. I would write all of the Korean names for the foods but I am not sure if everyone knows them. They have a wide variety of stuff and they brought us barley tea/boricha and they also bring you a pitcher of it at the table so you can mix it with your rice as it cooks at the bottom to make this crispy deliciousness all Koreans know. Parking was easy and ample and there's also a sign at the front that says you call if you can't find parking.

I had not been in probably 20 years but after seeing them on Chris Shepherd show I figured I'd give them a try again. Yep... Good stuff. I went with the LA Galbi from the dinner menu that came complete with banchan, Romaine lettuce for wraps and the dipping sauce and it was perfect for a lunch on Friday. The place looked good in an, old school way, and when I left the tables were full.

    My man enjoyed his cooking.

We request a BBQ table! The meat cuts were perfect. We cooked ourselves but they offered to do it for you. They have Korean beer on draft, which was refreshing. The side dishes were satisfying and almost as good as the Korean ones. (Visited Korea last year) Music was soft and very universal. This place has been here since1983 but I was not aware. You should experience this yourself. Very friendly and the restrooms were clean.

Best Bulgogi in Houston! Last time I went, my waitress couldn't speak much English and it was really inconvenient when asking questions. But her attitude was great and same with the rest of the staff. My go to restaurant for BBQ in Houston Great atmosphere, great food

Amazing restaurant! The food is always good and I never leave feeling unsatisfied. I always get the naengmyeon, it is very authentic and delicious. The interior is very beautiful and feels cozy inside.

The food here is delicious freshly made the lunch menu is revamped and has kind of a bento box style to it, but obviously it's Korean restaurant with a variety of different options. The seafood is consistently fresh and well cooked. The kimchi isn't my greatest for my flavor profile, but the food has a large variety on the menu, and the flavors are well developed the Bonchon Taste good and seems to have a different variety throughout the year parking can get a little bit tight in this location so be patient in finding a spot or for be willing to park on the street or across the street. The service is attentive and the AC is extremely strong. Would highly recommend and definitely planning on going back. Note my rating system: 1 Star: I wouldn't recommend 2 Stars: Didn't hit my standards 3 Stars: Average (nothing special) 4 Stars: Above Average. Would recommend. Still looking for the 5 Star. 5 Stars: Top of their game. Great food. Great service. Would recommend and plan on returning.

A fave spot for Korean food in the area. I love coming here either for their lunch/dinner menu or kbbq. Plenty of parking spaces in a small plaza off of Long Point. Service is quick and friendly. We always get seated right away. Some of my favorite items are the soft tofu stew with seafood, bossam, and the LA Galbi. I always get the tofu stew every time I'm here. It's my comfort food and pair with the LA galbi makes a great combo. The large bossam could feed 4-6 people. We can never finish it especially when you're also eating all the sides and other dishes. I have also tried kbbq here with a group. We were seated in a private room. You can order off of their combo menu. I mostly prefer just ordering off of their normal menu versus doing the kbbq.

Food is fresh, full of flavor, piping hot, and delicious! There are a lot of options. I would say this is a really great place to bring someone who is new to Korean food. The staff is very friendly... actually, I forgot my purse in my chair and a staff person found my friends and I waiting to pull out of the parking lot. Super nice staff who will obviously go above and beyond! Thank you to that king!

We recently met up with some friends here for some KBBQ, was a great experience! Food: 5/5 the portions are generous, albeit a tad bit on the expensive side (not AYCE). The seafood pancake was amazing, and the seafood noodles were surprisingly good too. BBQ meats were fresh and tasty Service: 5/5 everything came out quick and our servers were friendly. My son loved seeing the robot servers go back and forth! Ambiance: 5/5 they have a little waterfall area on the inside that my son loved to play with. This seems like a great spot for families to take their kids, and we were surprised that the smoke didn't bother our little one so I guess they have great ventilation! Overall a great dinner, would come back!

I went with my brother, and the atmosphere alone made it feel like an experience, not just a meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely wanted us to have a great time. Ordering is done through an online system, which is cool in theory, though my service struggled a bit, thankfully my brother had no issues, so we made it work. We ordered the triple broth: spicy bone tallow, tomato, and chicken. The spicy broth definitely packs a punch (even for spice lovers-stay hydrated ). The tomato broth was rich, savory, and hands-down my favorite. The chicken broth was a little bland, but the overall flavors were still solid. While I wish there was a bigger meat and seafood selection (especially for seafood lovers like me), everything we ordered was delicious. Overall, Old Alley Hot Pot is a great spot for date night, a fun dinner with friends or family, or even a cozy solo outing. Highly recommend for the experience alone.

The food at Shabu En is so good! The service is very thoughtful also and they're very attentive. The decorations in the restaurant is also very nice and it's very clean too. There's plenty of parking so no need to worry about driving around to get a spot unless you're trying to be closer. When you walk in, there is a waiting area where you can sit while waiting to be seated. They also provide some water and snacks in the front while waiting. It also has a photo spot near the front. For the food, there is a big selection. They have lots of soup bases, and it's possible to switch soup bases if you feel tired of the one you started with. I tried a few and they were all good. The flavors start to mix after you put in your hotpot ingredients, so I would suggest drinking some of the soup beforehand. My favorite broth I tried was the duck broth. You can really taste the duck and it's the most flavorful to me, and someone in the group said you can really taste the five spice powder (I couldn't but I liked it a lot). The tonkatsu is pretty decent and tastes like what you expect. I tried the Shabu En special broth, and it tastes like dashi soup. Very standard and pretty good broth. In my opinion, the sukiyaki broth is good for short term broth and just dipping your meat temporarily. To me the sweetness overpowered the soy sauce flavor, but it's still very good. You get your meat by ordering with the server, but they come by very often and it comes out very quickly that you don't really notice a long period without any meat. At the center where you grab veggies and the sauce bar, there are sections where you can get drinks, such as tea and Vietnamese coffee, which is in addition to the drinks you can order off the menu. There is also a small dessert station but it's a must try! It has a snow shaved ice, and it has a toppings bar next to it with toppings and different sauces you can put on it. Overall, it's a really good AYCE restaurant that's definitely worth trying out.

I would say that would be a basic Chinese hotpot broth to try if this is your first time. I don't recommend the SUKIYAKI broth. The menu says that this is a popular broth for beginners. But you're basically cooking in sweet soy sauce. 5. Cleanliness - dining area was clean, buffet table would do better if they have an extra person manning the table. Tongs were sticky and food droppings on the table. The restrooms were humid and smelly. Something they can easily work on with a little more focus to cleanliness.

It is definitely spicy, but nothing that I couldn't handle. The Tomato Broth was delicious as well, but added a nice sweetness to our meal. We chose the Classic All-You-Can-Eat lunch deal, and ordered a plate of the Natural Prime-Aged Lamb, the Hand Sliced Beef Short Plate, the Marinated Garlic Beef, and the Pork Belly; I can't say I'm a huge fan of how they divided the meat selections, however, since I could get premium meat elsewhere without being limited. But overall, the meat was of decent quality, and the buffet offered various options. Compared to other hot pot places, they even had a section where you could serve yourself egg rolls, white rice/fried rice, and stir-fried noodles, though I can't speak to the quality... very much buffet-quality if you catch my drift, but still lovely nonetheless. Similarly, you can fetch your own iced drinks and dessert too. I do wish Happy Lamb's sauce station had special pre-made flavors or instructions for making them, much like Shabu Zone or Haidilao; sometimes I don't trust myself to freestyle my own sauce. There are some cross-contamination concerns as well, since there'd be about 4 tongs at foot/pants level, but at least 9 food options (e.g., noodles, dumplings, veggies) to choose from. Not sure if other people share the same sentiment, but I guess they all get boiled in the end anyway. Overall, it's a decent option if you're in Downtown Houston! But I wouldn't call Happy Lamb my go-to spot.

Sauce Bar: This is where shabu zone differentiates itself. The sauce bar is not your typical make yourself hot pot sauce, but they also have premade sauces that are delicious. The garlic sauce, black garlic, spicy ponzu, wasabi and corn are amazing. I just can't express enough how amazing it is to have the sauce bar and banchan bar. Banchan Bar: My favorite part of shabu zone and something that keeps me coming back. The onion jalapeno banchan is amazing, sweet and delicious perfect balance to the meat. The kimchi selection is great! I love making wraps with the white radish rounds too. Dessert: Good ice cream selection like their green tea and red bean flavors. Also, the coffee flavor is very good. The Vietnamese fruit cocktail che is also a nice touch that my parents love getting. Vegetable/Noodle options: Good options, I love the pumpkin and broccolli, watercress, spinach, enoki mushroom too! Lots of seafood options and different noodles. The hand pulled korean flat noodles are amazing. Broth: Broth is good, with sukiyaki being a favorite of mine along with Miso and Tonkotsu (vegetarian is nice as well). While the broths here are not as flavorful as rival shabu places like (Shabu En), it is good enough and does not hinder the experience. Overall, I will stand by my love for shabu zone. My friend said the veal and the pork belly were both delicious, I don't eat either so my review is based on everything else. OMG the flavors were so packed into the meats they needed nothing else. The spicy beef bulgogi was by far my absolute favorite (I polished off two full servings myself) the spice profile was so perfect that it enhanced the beef without masking the natural flavor and the use a good quality beef as well so any toughness is due to your own over cooking which still didn't happen. The shrimp and chicken came in tied for second place for flavor bomb, I'm pretty sure they marinate this stuff for days for it to taste so full of flavor! There is also a fully stocked "Sauce Bar" with so many different kinds of sauces and additions. The inside is very large, but not loud and they have a full bar for those who wish to sit there. If you haven't tried them yet GO! You and your stomach will thank me.

It is eclectic, decorated in an Asian pop culture theme with [sometimes promiscuous lol] music videos playing on a big projector screen. And, it is honestly loud (booths are in rather close proximity to one another and there's constant clatter & commotion from the table action). We had a few issues - the grill didn't stay hot (either malfunctioning or low on fuel), there weren't any hot buffet options (like other locations offer), and a few menu items were unavailable (ran out) - but we enjoyed our meal, nonetheless. Even with a few missing offerings, there is plenty of variety - meats, seafood, vegetables, soups, noodles & rice. The sauce bar has many condiments & dips; you can play mad scientist with your seasonings/marinade. And, there was a cold buffet that offered kimchi and a few fruits. They also had a long list of beverages that included boozy cocktails and exotic smoothies or teas. Kevin was an outstanding server - extremely attentive & superbly patient (bless his heart for accommodating our rowdy and very needy group of newbies lol). He was assisted by a hard working team of table runners and busters who kept us stockpiled and refilled. The crew made sure things were never amiss. Some tips for first-timers: -The AYCE pricing is applied to the whole table, so you have to make a group decision if you want to do bbq or hotpot or both ($5 add on). -Holidays and weekends are priced for Dinner all day. -They don't take reservations, so there may be a wait (especially if you have a large group). -It is booth seating throughout, with a max of 6 people per booth. -You have a 2 hour time limit (which seems like a lot, but you do have to wait for meat to cook on the grill). Venue: 4.0 Ambiance: 3.0 Food (Taste / Variety) 4.5 Service: 5.0

The restaurant was…read moreclean, well-organized, and the atmosphere felt comfortable for both small groups and solo diners. The broth was flavorful but not overly salty, which worked perfectly for cooking the meats and vegetables. The beef slices were thin and fresh, cooking quickly in the broth and staying tender. The vegetable platter was generous and included a nice variety like cabbage, mushrooms, tofu, and noodles. One thing I liked was the sauce bar--there were several options like ponzu, sesame sauce, garlic, and chili so you could customize the flavor exactly how you want. Service was friendly and attentive. The staff explained how to cook the ingredients properly, which is helpful if you're new to shabu-shabu. The only small downside was that it can get a bit busy during peak dinner hours, so you might have to wait for a table. Overall, it's a great spot if you're craving fresh hot pot and a casual dining experience. I'd definitely come back again.

I did try all of the meats and it was a lot of food but every cut was great! Nice open restaurant with plenty of seating and arranged so you feel as if you have your own space. The only reason I dropped it by a star was that there was only one person waiting on a large portion of the guests. She really tried hard and this is not a knock on her. But even though it was a slow night she struggled to keep up at times. I would have given it 4.5 if I had the choice.
