#5 Jap Chae #80 Beef Short Rib BBQ
Duyen T.

Was craving some Korean food so come here to eat. I was quickly greeted and seated by staff. I went on a Thursday afternoon around lunch time and was pretty empty. There was lots of table and seating. The server was super sweet and kindly explained and recommended me food option. I order the seafood pancake, jap chae, spicy seafood tofu soup, cha jang myeon, and short ribs. This all came with a bunch of side dishes. My favorites were the seafood pancakes as it was nice and crispy yet still soft then the short ribs were nicely seasoned and wasn't tough to chew. As for the other dishes, they were good and nothing special. Overall, just place if you looking for basic Koran food.

Solid, no-frills Korean restaurant. The side dishes came out fast, and the roasted fish to start was a nice touch. Nothing spectacular, but nothing to complain about either.

We came here for a friends dinner. The staff was very nice and quick. The food all came almost at the same time and they kept checking on us every once in a while to make sure that we're satisfied. The place is clean and not too loud. Their bathrooms are pretty decent. Now onto the food , I would order number 39 again. It had a strong flavor and it's very tasty The beef tofu soup was OK. I had it mild one so maybe that's why. We also have some free sides and fried fish, which I enjoy eating. Know that that the fried fish does have bones so you do need to know how to eat it. Parking is free out front .

This is a pretty standard Korean restaurant that's right in the heart of chinatown. They serve their food with a good variety of side dishes with each meal. I got their mandu kalguksu and it had some good flavor, but the soup comes out verrrrrrrry hot. Definitely had to wait a while before I could eat it -- but this could be the normal way to serve this dish as i've noticed the same trend from other restaurants that serve this soup. Service from staff can vary from day to day -- some servers are very friendly and others are a bit less integrated with guests. Dining area is minimally decorated but has a good amount of seating!

#8-1 Spicy Rice Cake and seafood pancake

I've been coming here for years but never paused to leave a review. It's been getting busier and I'm happy for them! The food has been consistent and tasting the same ever since before which is hard to accomplish! Even the sides and I love how they aren't stingy about it! There's a lot a lot of aunties that have been there for years and still there, which we love seeing familiar faces! I love getting the combo tofu soup with a protein, usually galbi! But the ddukbokki and hot stone bibimbap are some of our top as well that we must order as well! Love that they haven't changed the inside and continue to play kpop. It makes the place feel familiar! We go here at least once a week! The soup and rice just hit different here. Maybe the worn stone bowls? But it brings out more flavor! One of our top Korean restaurants in Houston!

Tofu Village has been around here for a long time- it's also been one of my favorites when I'm back in town to visit. I consider it a personal classic :) There's always a nostalgic hit when I come here with my family. Very nice and authentic felt interior, you have Kpop and a mix of other popular music in the background and on a couple of small TVs, and some posters of probably some of the classic idols. I found myself smiling back to the days my friends really pushed Kpop on me (sure, I'm a fan- just not at their hardcore level :P). I always feel so full and fulfilled when I leave. Portion sizes are incredible. Everyone starts with a little salad with their house mix sauce, and you get your rice served in stone pots. There's a constant flowing trail of banchan- I always love their potato, tofu skin, greens, and bean sprouts. I might as well just have listed them all. You can always pick your spice level for your meal, so this place is really for everyone. Service is always on point, quick, and they're kind. I'm always a fan of the short rib combo with the oyster soup at medium. What can you say, a girl likes to taste the sea- and the oysters are at a nice medium plump size. Go hit your protein goals! Super flavorful, they also give you eggs you can crack into the soup- it'll cook cause it's so hot still. Always love their flavorful short ribs, can't go wrong, they're super tender, juicy, and leaves you wanting to finish it all even when you're hitting the brim of being full. We got their rice cakes this time as well, my mom is a huge fan. Cooked perfectly with plenty of tofu skin. My dad really enjoyed their mul-naengmyeon (perfect for summer- let's be real, Houston has summer for about 75% of the year so really... good for anytime).

#7 Pan-Fried Dumpling (10 PCS)

Came here for lunch the other day with my boyfriend and we both ordered the spicy chicken combo and I got the mixed tofu soup which had a bunch of different meats and seafood in it. We also ordered the 10 piece pan fried dumplings and they were alright, very small and not a lot of filling to be honest. The chicken and the soup were both really good and had lots of flavor and service was very fast. Overall would definitely recommend this spot!

Tofu village is such a warm and comforting spot! Been coming to this place since high school. Service and food are still just as good as I remember. I always love the countless side dishes they provide with the meal. They are very generous when it comes to that. I got the bibimbap, and while it was yummy, I feel like the stone pot could've been hotter cuz usually the rice that is directly touching the surface becomes scorched. I didn't get that this time, and I look forward to eating that part the most. It's okay though! The meal was super filling and satisfying. My friends and I had a great time hanging out at tofu village & we ended with a Yakult. The inside wasn't loud or crowded. The parking lot was a bit crazy though and I had to park pretty far back.

mushroom tofu soup, sides

Food is pretty good for the price and portions are decent. We got the mushroom tofu soup and the kimchi jjigae. It comes out really hot and fast despite it usually being busy. The sides come out fast and they give you a wide variety. They also give you a salad with dressing and a small fried fish. I always go here for Korean food when I come back home to Houston since it's super convenient due to its location in the plaza (located around a bunch of cute shops and dessert places). If you're looking for a place to chat it might be a little loud due to the large amount of customers. Other than that service is really fast and the workers are kind/they give you free yakult.

Tofu village is a good place to go with friends. Whenever we're in Chinatown, this restaurant is one of our go-tos. The friendly service, cherry interior and spaciousness, despite the crowd, makes it a nice place to hang out- especially for a pre-karaoke meal. The food itself is very tasty. I like the seafood dol sot bibimbap. I like rice dishes, and the various seafood and vegetables that I get to mix make the dish fun to eat. The meat and seafood is well cooked and the portion sizes are pretty generous for the reasonable price. What really impresses me though, are the side dishes. A variety of kimchi and fish and other sides are given with each meal, which serves to enhance the experience. Our hostess also gave us all complementary yakult yogurt drinks at the end of the meal which were sooo refreshing. Now parking is pretty hard to find, which is a general difficulty with the area. This can sometimes make it hard to make it in, but it is definitely worth it!

I was here for the 713 day on 7/13. It's a day we should all go out to support the local restaurants. I chose Tofu Village because the lights were on for few days after Hurricane Beryl's power outage. I also love Korean food. I think this is one of first Korean restaurants in Chinatown. Being at Dun Huang Plaza is a blessing because of the parking situation. Especially, during weekday dinner time, I didn't have to walk far to find parking. Once I walked in, a gentleman greeted me and handed me a menu. I checked the prices. Wow. They were really reasonable. So, I asked to sit down. The waitress came so quickly, I didn't get a chance to pull out my phone to check on reviews. My seafood tofu soup was great. There were lots of bunchas and an egg came to my surprise. The price was reasonable for the amount of food I got. I would definitely come back to try other dishes with my friends.

Very nice place and the food was delicious. Bring your family and friends to visit.

Best food. Come check this place out for yourself, it's a very nice place for family and friends. Great customer service.

Cold noodles
Jessica N.

This place does the good for accessible Korean comfort food. I have been here multiple times as it is a staple in Chinatown and I would say it is pretty consistent. The side dishes that come out are satisfactory and nothing special but can fill you up. I would always start off with the Seafood Pancake, it is my personal favorite and it is huge. The Beef Short Ribs are also a favorite as it packs nice smokey flavor and has good amount of meat on it. I also like their cold noodles that they have to offer, it is very refreshing but on the sweeter side because of the daikon. Their combination meals are the most worth it as some of the items can be pricy. The interior is wooden giving off old Asian culture and the waiters get the job done, quick and easy! Overall, 7/10.

It is sweet and a bit soupy from all the sauce. The noodles are chewy and bouncy, and get coated in the sauce nicely. There is a good amount of meat that comes with it too! The flavors are great. 2) Jaengbanjjajang: This is my go-to and personal favorite noodle dish to get here. It is similar to their original jjangmyeon except that it is less soupy and has a bit of spice. The spiciness adds a nice kick balancing the sweet and savory flavors. There are also lots of different mix ins like squid, shrimp, beef, and vegetables! The play on textures and contrasting flavors is why I love this dish 3) Spicy Chicken Wings (Yangnyeom): For not being a chicken wing restaurant, Paiks sure does serve some banger wings. Juicy big wings with a slight crisp on the outside. The sauce is amazing. It is that sweet and spicy yangnyeom korean fried chicken sauce. 4) Tangsuyuk: I never visit Paisk without ordering their tangsuyuk. Perfectly fried with a great chew. The pork is not too porky or gamey which is nice, and the sauce is a sticky sweet and sour sauce. 4) Gunmandoo: Their panfried dumplings are quite nice too! I haven't gotten them in a while, but they were solid Overall, I don't think there was a single dish I disliked here at Paiks. Service is standard, not too fast not too slow. The ambiance is not really one for dates or anything. It's super casual with metal chairs. It can get a bit cold. There are restrooms and water dispensers.
