i love little random mom and pop shops! This one is nestled in fort street mall in the downtown district between coffee shops and other restaurants. Also check their posted hours as it seems that they're mainly open on M-F with longer hours and on Saturday with limited hours. Im sure they are more busier on the weekdays with all the office workers nearby! We got the tori nanban with salad for 12.50! what a bargain to get a big plate lunch for less than $15 nowadays. The chicken was very tender and juicy. I actually don't like to eat rice but i ate it all! it was soft and had a good texture. There is indoor seating available - it can be a little hot inside but there is fan in the front. just pick a seat that faces it so you can cool down. the downside? Stumbled across this place by accident while walking around Fort Street and have come back 4x since! It is cash only, and because it is in Fort Street Mall you will have to find parking in China Town, but despite all of this (and living in Kailua) my partner and I will go out of our way to still come regularly because of the amazing food. You wouldn't think much from its looks, but the food has been consistently delicious, especially the donburi and chicken plate lunches. My favorite is their chicken katsu which I felt was especially delicious with thick pieces of meat and a very clean, not oily or over-fried, taste. Whats most impressive is the price of their dishes with plates as low as $10 each and their most expensive being $14. I personally would pay more for the quality of the food but their affordable prices also keep us coming back. I went to Ft Street Mall to get some piroshkis from Rada's, but they were closed. I went by Ohana Dish and what caught my eye was that in addition to the chicken katsu, garlic chicken, etc. they offer oyakodonburi which I haven't had at a plate lunch place before. The mini was enough for a meal for me, and I felt stuffed after. I didn't realize just ordering saimin meant fried saimin but I wasn't disappointed. It was just like yakisoba but with less of a tonkatsu and more of a dashi taste. Lots of pieces of pork and crunchy bits of cabbage and onion. Again, a very hearty meal. walking by this place you would never guess that their food is really good. It's definitely one of those hole in the wall type of places. When I walked in it smelled like I had walked into an Okazuya shop. At the cashier was a really nice lady and I ordered a regular garlic chicken with mac salad. I only waited about five minutes until my food was ready for take-out. On the way home I could smell my food and even a lady in the elevator of my building asked what smelled so good! I'm going with a 3.5, very close to four stars. Staff are friendly, attentive, and clearly work hard. Tried the oyako-don and beef curry, both with sides of green salad rather than mac salad. Total was $15. What's not to like about oyako-don? It does not get its due as comfort food. Ohana's version was substantial and filling ($7). Loved the sticky rice. I had takeout and the sauce congregated to one corner and was absorbed by the rice there by the time I reached my destination. So, some parts had no sauce while others were fully covered. I ate the small portion of salad last and it had completely wilted by then. Taste-wise, I'd place it a close third, with Sunoya's version first (ask for extra sauce), and Nijiya Market's second. The beef curry had a good depth of flavor, but was sorely lacking in a key ingredient - the beef. There were two modest-sized pieces in the entire dish, which cost $8. Perhaps this was because I went around 5:30 pm and got the bottom of container. I will definitely come back and try other dishes. This seems like a great little place and I want to give them every opportunity to shine. Parking is in nearby garages or you might find street parking on Bishop or Nuuanu. Multiple buses stop at Hotel and Bishop, some going in both directions (1, 2, 3, 9, 13) and others, like the 52 and 62 and more only coming into town. Ohana Dish is great for days when you just want to have some comfort food. Don't expect anything fancy. I tried the oyako-don (chicken and egg over rice), and my coworker had the "garlic chicken". Between our two orders, we both preferred the oyako-don. The garlic chicken wasn't bad, but it tasted more like an orange chicken which wasn't what we were expecting. Although I wasn't particularly amazed by what I had, there are days when you just want to have comfort food and I'm glad I found a place I can go during the workday. read more

Great value for the quality of food. The food is freshly made, which is worth the extra few minutes. The fried chicken wings take about 6 minutes to cook, but fine with me to get hot fresh wings! The ginger pork is tasty and surprisingly tender. The chicken katsu and chicken nanban are also very good. All of their fried chicken is very moist, so they must marinate them before cooking. You can choose Mac salad or green salad as a side, plus white or brown rice (brown costs a quarter extra for the mini). I love that you can choose either mini or regular sized meals. The only time I had a less-than satisfying meal was when I ordered shoyu chicken near closing time. I guess I got the bottom of the pot because the chicken was over-cooked and dry.
