Pumpkin Pie Almond Croissant- 7/10 For a tasty croissant, this isn't overly sweet which is perfect. The almond and pumpkin seeds add a bit of texture but it's rather cooked down instead of warm. The pumpkin pie paste is good and has a good portion of breading and filling. We were seated quickly and our waitress was nice. Lots of tables and a bright and open airy space with cute decor. We've ordered from this bakery a few times in the past, mostly for their jamon buerre. I believe it was off the menu for a while (correct me if I'm wrong), but i saw it available once again so I decided to grab two today. Our previous experiences were great, however this time was extremely disappointing. For the price (~$16 per sandwich on Toast), you would expect more substance but this was how it was looking. One measly slice of ham and cheese, and the butter barely tasted present. I'm bummed that such a great recipe has been reduced to this poor excuse of a jamon buerre. This was indeed a treat that I rarely consider. I can't say that it was the best I ever had, but every part of the eggs benedict was tasty and perfectly seasoned. (Yes, that means not oversalted, too!) My friend had their Potato Gravalax. The potatoes were the perfect roast, and the salmon was tasty as well. Both were the perfect light brunch items. We also had their iced lattes, which had a remarkable flavor. The beans were subtly sweet and a medium boldness, just enough to be noticeable but not dark enough to be bitter or strong. The staff were present, as was the service, and this was indeed a nice brunch spot. From the entrance to the tables, everything was well decorated to provide a nice "under the sunlit trees in a cabin" kind of ambiance. Artwork hanging everywhere. Plenty of room at the tables and booths. They also serve wine and spirits and have live music on the weekends. Their brunch menu is fantastic. Very pricy, but typical for Pasadena brunch. I got the croque monsieur and thought the sandwich was really well balanced with the ham and cheese textures. Adding the egg was a whole $3, but it was fried perfectly to mix the yolk with the sandwich, and they added parsley as well. The breakfast burrito is also a solid choice too, and the chili sauce it comes with adds a lot more flavor without being too spicy. On the other hand, their matcha latte is mid. The taste of the powder was really bland and the milk had a hard texture. They present the matcha powder on top of the milk which you'd have to mix yourself. I'm not sure if the matcha powder was sifted enough or if not having a matcha whisk made for the texture to not be smooth at all. There were clumps of matcha powder floating in the milk. The pastries will largely depend on what you get. I tried their plain croissant, kouign amann and strawberry-matcha pastry, and the latter was my favorite. Texture wise, it was the best of the 3. It was crunchy on the outside and chewy inside. Couldn't really taste the matcha, but the strawberry slices were a nice touch. I thought the croissant wasn't very crunchy and the kouign amann too sticky from the sugar and not chewy at all, despite being very crunchy on the outside. read more

We chose to order at the counter since I wanted to pick out some pastries with my order. Staff was very friendly and patient with us as we pondered what to order. Food came out pretty quick. My family ordered a variety of items to try: Breakfast Burrito with Bacon - 2/5 Lacked flavor and was underwhelming. The salsa that came with it didn't do much to improve the flavor. It also looked so sad with no side that was offered with this dish. Brioche Eggs Benedict. - 4/5 This tasted pretty good, but the portion was small for being a $20 dish.
