Instead of the traditional long, continuous aisles, the beauty department is now set up with cute little "nooks." I only explored the makeup, skincare, hair care, and deodorant sections this time, but it felt like walking through a fun, mini maze. The new layout is much brighter, and the products are displayed right at eye level, which makes browsing super easy. Plus, I was happy to find the exact deodorant I was looking for! My only minor complaint--as always with Target--is wondering why there are so many checkout lanes built into the store when only a couple are ever open. Whenever I'm there the wannabe Martha Stewart in me emerges and feels compelled to take home all the beautiful things in sight. Oh the possibilities! Realistically though, I'd have no idea how to make use of most of it because I'm just not that creative in addition having neither the funds nor the space. Of course there are times when this store, or any of the others for that matter, won't have exactly what you want, when you want it. For example, you might find slim pickings on some of the Christmas stuff before you've even thought about carving your Thanksgiving turkey. Therefore, it's best to shop early and get seasonal items as soon as they hit the shelves. Also, it's imperative for those on a budget (and who isn't right now!) to take advantage of sales and/or coupons whenever possible. Much of the regular priced merchandise isn't what I would consider inexpensive and things can add up pretty quickly (especially if you listen to Martha!).

Week 4, I called to check on product as she never called. They already charged me mind you, and she said I never approved the logo so that's why it's not complete. I have email proof that I replied and approved the logo with in the hour of them asking if I like and approve the logo. Now she says it will take another 2 weeks. Very disappointed. I paid them to create a pdf of my logo. Either I keep doing business with Kathy and her bad attitude or I go elsewhere and pay again for pdf on my logo. Oh well. Just venting I guess!!

Today, that appreciation grew even more! I reached out to Jabo's on behalf of Reach Out Honduras as we were gathering donations for our annual fundraiser and Jabo's Ace Hardware was very generous in supporting our event. We are so grateful for their willingness to support a cause that is helping provide educational opportunities and a brighter future for vulnerable children in Honduras. The manager I worked with, Mr. Spalding, was kind, gracious, and genuinely happy to help! As an extra-special surprise, we discovered that he was actually a former Mockingbird Elementary student where I taught years ago! What a fun connection and such a small world! It great to have him back in Coppell. I know businesses often hear from customers when something goes wrong, so I wanted to make sure Jabo's heard from someone who had a genuinely wonderful experience. Betty and another store associate helped me with another purchase. They were helpful, friendly and fun! I have shopped there for 12 years, perhaps 2-300$ a year. I brought in a blank key I had purchased many years ago and asked them to make a copy of my house key. They told me I had to buy a new blank or they couldn't do it. People shop at places like Jabos to get the service you can't get at the box stores. The young man couldn't figure out how to operate the machine and wouldn't admit it. Then he got a lady who gave me the "you have to buy from us" routine. Neither were friendly. Then the manager finally came and gave me the same routine. Finally I asked him if he was going to be able to help me. I asked the question in a way that got to the point and made him decide. He stammered around and never did answer. At that point I did say "shit" to which he got immensely offended and started pointing his finger at me. "The new machine won't let us". Surely there is an override and in the rare event that there isn't, I hope the owner takes note. Needless to say, but I won't be returning to the local small business because of two things. Poor attitude and poor service. As the manager of a small store, you have to make big decisions. they made me feel as though I was at one of the big box stores. The sad thing is that I shop there because I had come to enjoy and expect the service, in a world that service is hard to find. Before you judge me, let me ask you. If it was your store which decision would you make. Make a key or 4-5$?

I said thank you so much and decided to try my luck at this location to see if they had any. I'm not sure what was going on with the store manager today but she had an attitude with me telling me that I need a box that it came in, and I told her this is what I was told. I don't like being lied to. And she said "I'm the store manager I'm not lying" in a very rude way. So If you are going to be rude to me expect the same results back to you. It's your job as a Store Manager to train YOUR employees yo give out right information. They have lots of items starting at 2 or 3 dollars. Make-up, hair care, skin care, crafts, home goods, pet supplies, snacks, wine, toys and other kind of other little items. The store isn't even that big, but it has all kind of cute and useful things there. Nadia, (I hope I'm spelling her name right)the sales associate, was absolutely lovely. She was pleasant, helpful and greets everyone that comes in the store. I believe the other associate there was the store manager. She was also very nice. I will definitely be back, I need someone to go with me and tell me to put stuff back that I don't need...lol It's an awesome place to buy gifts. The prices maje ir easy to put a bunch of stuff in your basket.
