I like to stop into Barnes & Noble from time to time. I looooove books, but I generally do my book shopping at half price types of places so I can hoard more of them and drive my husband crazy with the stacks that don't fit on bookshelves. However, despite my preference to lurk amongst used books in cheap and cramped stores, I just love to come here and browse amongst all the shiny, new books with their promotional displays and bright lights. I like to check out genres I wouldn't have thought of or check to see if any of my favorite authors have a new book I didn't know about. This location is in the mall, but has it's own entrance from the parking lot. You don't even have to enter the mall, so the only real downside is that the parking lot gets crowded. They always keep it nice and cool at a comfortable temperature, which makes browsing a more leisurely and enjoyable process. I've had limited interactions with the staff, but they have always been friendly and ask if I need help. They also have a café there. I've only been a handful of times, but it's tucked away and the employees are polite. The things I've tried have been tasty, but I haven't stopped in there in quite a while. On my last visit, I was approached in the aisle with a free sample of a latte and a coupon from the sweetest girl. The latte was a generous portion for a sample and delicious, reminding me I should stop in more often. What I love about this location is how they use their space. It seems so big and open, but there are still so many books. I like that their displays have the books facing out. Yes, that's less books on the shelf, but it makes it easier and faster for me, the customer, to see the selection quickly and find what I'm looking for. Well, more accurate to say it's easier to grab my attention with the cover art and make me pick up a book and look at the description... thus, slowing me down. Doesn't matter, still love it! Now, I've always felt that the only downside to shopping at half price locations was that you never know what the selection will be. Which is great when you are just looking for fun, but not great if you are looking for something specific. So for something specific, a Barnes & Noble seems like the best spot. On my latest visit I realized that was misguided. I was shocked to notice several authors missing from a section without even looking that closely. I also noticed another author with dozens and dozens of titles only had about ten on display. That gave me pause so I asked an employee if they had a kiosk for me to do a search. She said they didn't because they were too small of a location. That was surprising, but I looked around and she was right. This is a smaller B&N, but they use their space really well and maximize the books they do have on display. The only thing missing would be more seating to lounge and look over potential purchases. Anyway, she looked up my inquiry at the customer service desk and confirmed they didn't have one of the authors I mentioned. I thought that was odd, turns out their selection isn't actually as big as I thought it was. What it comes down to is they have a great selection of genres, but a smaller selection within those genres. They do seem to carry all the newest releases, best sellers and a lot of educational material, which is the most important I suppose. Still, it was a bit of a bummer to learn this isn't the one stop shop I thought it was. I'll continue my usual way of book shopping, but I'll still continue to come here. I enjoy the clean, organized setup, the easy browsing and that they have a good café all in one spot. They definitely make it worth coming to the mall.

I almost always shop at half price books, but sometimes you just need a good, new book. I really enjoy this store. It's bright, clean, and have a large selection of pretty much everything. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I think while we were there we had 4 different people ask if they could help us. They have a very nice selection of running books which is what I was after. There were 4 different books that I wanted which is very unusual. Prices really aren't that bad, and with a teacher discount my book wasn't much more than I would have paid at Recycled Books. They have a large sale selection too. I love small businesses, but sometimes it's nice to visit a huge store.

They have a VERY small and limited science section (1 aisle) but have several aisles of religion and fairy tales. Staff is rude.

And you create a space that honors the building and updating it with warm wood and fixtures, you're doing it right in my opinion. I loved the selections offered here and so did my daughters and granddaughter. Yes, I bought books here and my granddaughter was thrilled. There's a dedicated children's area with nice seating for them. There was a touch of magic there. Kids were happy and couldn't wait to get to the next book. That is what a book store is supposed to be about. I met the owners and both are genuinely nice and they care about their customers and their business. Both are very knowledgeable and more than happy to help in any way. If you're in Denton, you need to drop in and browse around - I bet you walk out with a great book!

Such is Patchouli Joe's Books & Indulgences. This is one of the most charming bookstores you will encounter. They have books for everyone, but I was taken back with the adorable children's sections I have seen in a bookstore. This Indie Bookstore really has a nice vibe to it. Part of that comes from the helpful people who work here, part of it from the other customers in the store. Altogether, everyone seemed to be relaxed and enjoying each other's company and the coffee/tea that they provide for their guests here. Pro Tips: 1) sign up for the rewards program 2) plan to spend a little time here because you will love it here 3) enjoy some of the delicious coffee!

Tons of old records in the back to dig through and they picked out the cream of the crop and put them up front so you don't have to look hard to find something great. They had great prices and with every 10 dollars you spend you get a free 3 dollar record as well. When I was digging in the back the lady who works there kept checking in on me to see if I needed anything and even adjusted the A/C to be more comfortable for me to dig in. They have 3 larger rooms of neatly organized records broken into sub genre and then alphabetized. It was extremely easy to find what I was looking for and the staff were very helpful. This place is essentially a secret 3rd great record store in denton. I highly recommend this place and will be coming back as soon next weekend.

The price quoted was a lot with a 10 week wait! But after they explained what repair entailed and what to look for when purchasing a BIble that lasts, I understood. I decided to just buy the kid a new Bible (one not glued, but sown together, her recommendation) but if I ever need a book repair service, they will surely get my business. If you want a quick-and-dirty commercial fix, this is not your place. But if you are looking for a European time machine that will take a beloved book back to what it was or even better, this is the spot for you. We came to the Book Doctor with a small devotional, quite honestly a lost cause with no cover or binding and several severely damaged pages. We were hoping for some sort of cover and binding to preserve it since it is of great sentimental value and over 90 years old. What we received back was a gorgeous gem, a true made-to-order family heirloom. Not only was the cover beautiful, the binding is a work of art and pages we thought were lost forever were delicately and expertly restored. We stand amazed. Again, if you expect to do it on the cheap and have it by next week, forget it. But if the book in question matters to you and you budget for time and money, plan in advance, make an appointment with one of their experts, then expect the best. These are artisans who will pour all their skill and experience into your valued piece and devote entire days solely to its restoration.
