Stopped in today, and was delighted. They have a nice selection of paperbacks, cd's, albums and posters. I was greeted by Kyle, who was so friendly and knowledgeable. He was immediately able to locate and pull several albums by the old 80's band for which I was searching. He was always ready to answer a question, but didn't hover or pressure a sale in the least. Such a nice experience, I look forward to visiting this jewel of a shop again, and often.

This has to be one of the best bookstores I've been to for romance, like, in my top 3, if not my number 1. There is an entire room of them that I could spend hours in just scanning through all the selection. I found books I've been looking for for years in this store because that's just how great the selection is! They also have a great selection of fantasy, sci-fi, and mystery! AND a great selection of records! I highly recommend this place to anyone in the Denton/Dallas area! And this is a must visit for romance readers regardless of where you are. Seriously, this one needs to be on your bucket list!

What a cool find! I take a random drive to find out about a restaurant at a local strip mall and I discover a book store that I never knew existed. Living in Denton, everyone knows where Recycled Books is. How could you not? It's firmly planted on the NE corner of the square and has been for years. But who knew that Books & More has been firmly planted in this city for 11 years. An eclectic array of books, records, videos, movie posters and lots of Star Wars swag. An autographed poster from Paula Abdul, yeah you know you want it. A framed Elvis record (the album that the Clash turned into their London Calling cover) and a rare Star Wars poster touting the coming of Episode IV(I think it was that one. The folks running the place were very friendly and not too surprised that I have lived in the city for over three years and not known about the shop. But if they have been around for 11 years people must be going there. I know that all books are half off the cover price and if you return the book you get 25 cents towards your next purchase. They have lots of vinyl and I saw everything from Bob Marley and Peter Tosh to Johnny Cash and oddball country music to Elvis to Kansas. Like Recycled, it's a place you can get lost in. You think it's a tiny corner sport, but the rooms snake back to more rooms and a hallway full of merchandise. Really cool. When I have time to kill and wander about I will get back over there and see what treasures I can find. Support Denton businesses!

Since then, Docs has been or first choice for vinyl purchases of all levels. We are not collectors, really. I'm fine with a $7 Led Zeppelin disc with some magic marker on it as long as the vinyl plays well. We try to keep it $15 or under per record, though we've broken this rule a few times. At that level, there are always fun finds here at Docs. The selection is large in all genres. We found all three Stealer's Wheel records in a single trip. My rare 70s rock like Be-Bop Deluxe, Crack The sky, and Sweet comes through regularly at reasonable prices. And don't forget to check the new arrivals bin. Highly recommended!

There is so much to browse, go through, and check out as you walk around. Organization of their inventory and labeling is top notch for a record vinyl shopper myself. I appreciate the clear and beautifully written (easy to read too!) labels for every single artist in their respective genre sections. There is no guessing whether they have the artist you want or not. You can even see, across the aisle from you, what artists are on the opposite aisle from you at just a glance. Doc's labels their record tabs front AND back! Oh what a dream for me who usually has a list of records I am looking for. Each vintage vendor and nook is worth taking your time in exploring. We saw such a wide variety and range of vintage clothing, memorabilia, shoes, artwork, purses, glassware, and knick knacks. I also saw several sale items that were worth a look through if you don't get enticed to just take it home. I found some cool vintage purses and 90's band shirts I had to have. Even though I was here for the records and bought well over a half a dozen of a mix of single and albums on vinyl I was super pleased with the variety of vintage and new/artisan stuff they had for sale here. The decor and even the Doc's merch are pretty unique and worth taking pictures of for remembering you came to such a unique and fun place. I love the mural and logo outside before you walk in this modern giant warehouse. Parking was super easy and overflow free parking across the street is just steps away from the front door. Don't hassle with trying to find parking in front.

Nearing the end of a brief visit to Dallas recently--from Saturday afternoon to early Sunday…read moreafternoon--I decided to check out Josey Records in Dallas. To me, as someone who fits into the record collector/record dealer/cratedigger and DJ categories, visiting a record store I've never been to before is always an exciting or intriguing adventure. Josey has a reputation for being a good spot to buy records, so I am glad I finally went here to see what's up. Just looking around the store initially, I could see there are several areas in which the store could be improved or made more interesting. My first observation re: genre sections is that the signage for aisles could be more prominent. All of it is placed rather low, but at great record stores, you're never left guessing where everything is. You just find the music you're looking for more easily. With the massive volume of music releases in the store, I would like to see better curation of what's in stock. For example there were lots of Brian Eno releases, but not the ones I'd be interested in. For Parliament Funkadelic, there were just 2 Parliament 45s, but no Funkadelic and no George Clinton 45s. I thought that was weird. I was also looking for a famous jazz guitarist who's listed on the website, but the guy working the counter didn't even know who he was. Overall, I think the selection is decent if you are willing to spend time just looking through various sections, but there's no help on the floor--so you're just basically on your own. It kind of reminded me of shopping for records in a warehouse, but the warehouse I usually go to has much better curation. I should also state I tend to like smaller stores which get the mix of old and new releases more right or perhaps even focus on a certain niche. On a different note, in addition to music, there are lots of other cool things at Josey: a stage for performances, books, posters, tshirts and other ephemera. So, it is easy for music nerds to get lost here. Also, the parking situation is really good here, and I thought the service was good--the guys here are friendly, and one of them did go back into the aisles to look for something. Overall, I would rate this store a 4/5.
