I'm a recent return vinyl consumer, having been fully on-demand for decades until my brother bought a record player and started buying all the records we got rid of after high school. Since then, Docs has been or first choice for vinyl purchases of all levels. We are not collectors, really. I'm fine with a $7 Led Zeppelin disc with some magic marker on it as long as the vinyl plays well. We try to keep it $15 or under per record, though we've broken this rule a few times. At that level, there are always fun finds here at Docs. The selection is large in all genres. We found all three Stealer's Wheel records in a single trip. My rare 70s rock like Be-Bop Deluxe, Crack The sky, and Sweet comes through regularly at reasonable prices. And don't forget to check the new arrivals bin. Highly recommended! read more

Music and vintage store lovers: this is a fantastic record shop and vintage spot to come and be ready to happily spend longer than an hour here. There is so much to browse, go through, and check out as you walk around. Organization of their inventory and labeling is top notch for a record vinyl shopper myself. I appreciate the clear and beautifully written (easy to read too!) labels for every single artist in their respective genre sections. There is no guessing whether they have the artist you want or not. You can even see, across the aisle from you, what artists are on the opposite aisle from you at just a glance. Doc's labels their record tabs front AND back! Oh what a dream for me who usually has a list of records I am looking for. Each vintage vendor and nook is worth taking your time in exploring. We saw such a wide variety and range of vintage clothing, memorabilia, shoes, artwork, purses, glassware, and knick knacks. I also saw several sale items that were worth a look through if you don't get enticed to just take it home. I found some cool vintage purses and 90's band shirts I had to have. Even though I was here for the records and bought well over a half a dozen of a mix of single and albums on vinyl I was super pleased with the variety of vintage and new/artisan stuff they had for sale here. The decor and even the Doc's merch are pretty unique and worth taking pictures of for remembering you came to such a unique and fun place. I love the mural and logo outside before you walk in this modern giant warehouse. Parking was super easy and overflow free parking across the street is just steps away from the front door. Don't hassle with trying to find parking in front. read more

Had the best time picking out albums from my past for my nephew. The selection was great although a few prime items were missing. I'm sure it was due to the Christmas rush. Prices varied and it allowed me to get several. The staff was friendly and efficient even with the Christmas crowds. A very pleasant experience. May have to repeat it. read more

Not greeted whatsoever as if I did not exist perhaps it's my dark skin as other were kindly greeted. Seen a couple things I liked and really wanted to buy I was not going to leave my money at this establishment. I was ready to spend spend spend based on reviews I had seen. Treating someone as if they don't exist and looking them in the eye doesn't work for me specially if I am dropping money in your wallet. This place is cool! We stopped in here after spending time next door at Blackland Distillery. This place is cool. It's really kitschy. They have a huge selection of: - Vinyl record albums - CDs - Cassette tapes - Vintage clothing - Vintage decorations - Much more I also spoke to some of the staff and they were really cool. First time here and I was overwhelmed by the massive selections of vinyl. So organized and the staff knows exactly what you were looking for. Vinyls were fairly priced new and used. I wished I had more time to spare. You need hours to be able to get through the collections. I came out with only 6 vinyls since my time was limited. The staff were friendly and very helpful. This place has been on my list for at least a year and found out it's right next to one of my favorite distilleries! They have a great selection of music with an eclectic mix of vintage finds right surrounding their collection and mere few feet away. I'd say give yourself some time to peruse both while there. I stumbled across the most interesting combination of miscellany today. I wasn't even looking for it! Life is funny that way. I see a sign that says Record Sho. I thought, cool. It also listed oddities. I thought, very cool. This place is BIG. It is also very well laid out. Media up front. Records are on display when you walk in, they also have a big selection of cds. Because...they're retro..moving on. They have booths set up, further in, antique store style. Man, the collection was amazing. I do not know how long we were in there, bit there was something to look at in every stall. We got your collection of pearl snap shirts, Mimi's old glassware, cameras, toys, books and yes... oddities. I will be back here. It really is what you always hope these shops will be. read more

If you love vinyl this is the destination. I prefer it over Forever Young as you don't have to pull out crates and figure their mystery system. Maybe Josey in Dallas has more if you include their purchase of Bill's inventory but those are not organized. Every store has their quirks but Doc's is worth the trip. read more

A cornerstone in Fort Worth collectibles, this store has all you could ask for. Great selection of CD's and Vinyl and all fairly priced. The back half of the store is filled with customized booths full of great gear being sold by passionate ppl. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and as evidenced by their concerts in the store, they know how to party. A wide array of different genres both old and new, vintage and reissues; superbly labeled and separated for easy crate flipping. Staff members were very helpful when pointing you in the right direction. As far as value, the prices are in line with what I pay in Florida when I go crate digging. With the huge catalog of albums, I had to exercise some discipline and be extra judicious in selecting my final purchases . Super cute record/vintage store. When you walk in you're immediately greeted by awesomeness. Theres movie decor all over the walls and a huge open floor of records, CDs and cassettes. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Everything was nicely organized and labeled. The staff was available if I had any questions. They had a wide selection. About half of the store is music and the other half is vintage clothing and knickknacks. There was also a comic book section and a small movie section. Been going to Doc's once a year for 5 years. Basically when I'm in town for an annual trade show. Mega sized store with deep inventory that is uber categorized. Love their 7" collection and always find some great stuff. If you haven't been there in a while, they have moved to a new location just off of downtown between 7th and White Settlement road. read more

I grew up in Fort Worth, but have lived in Austin for quite some time. So when something new comes out, I only had to take a few steps in any direction to buy it on vinyl. They may not have many copies of a particular record in stock, but they had both the brand new Local Natives that came out today and Tame Impala. When you walk in there are rows full of all genres of music, from new arrivals to older artists, everything from pop, punk, jazz, rock, house and so many more. I got a little overwhelmed by the amount of records and not really sure where the genre I was looking for was, and the staff was more than helpful and took me right to where I needed to be without hesitation or just pointing where I needed to go. Best collection of used vinyl I've ever visited (that includes Good Records, Bill's, Half Price in Dallas, Grimey's in Nashville, Amoeba in LA, Rough Trade in Brooklyn, etc). And very affordable. All records I purchased (6) were in excellent condition regardless of the mileage on them. Customer service was friendly & a lot of cool vintage items & clothing there as well. FYI - they've moved from their original spot to way out on West Camp Bowie, and if you're a believer (like I am) that sometimes the best way to get to know a town is to drive around and get lost in it, well, friend, then head on out. 'Cause it feels like Doc's is a little off the grid. Once you find it, though, it's a wax lovers valhalla, and the part of me that adores shopping for vinyl, rediscovering tunes, and rummaging in search of either heretofore noted will relish the ride. According to the guy I spoke with at the counter, they've been there for almost a half year at this point but there are still some things they haven't moved over from the previous location. What those treasures are I don't know exactly, but the guy seemed like the stuff they still needed to move was worth the wait. Prices on used CDs are pretty cheap (most expensive I saw was around six bucks), but Doc's is really first and foremost about LPs. 'Cause occasionally, there's really nothing like analog. read more
