    Ben The Umbrella Academy Pop

What can I say about this place?? Me and my husband were in town visiting friends here and I love Pop Figures and that kind of thing so we had to check this place out! I noticed they had some Umbrella Academy pops so I decided to try to look for Ben. Well, these two employees helped me search the wall of Pops for 45 minutes! I felt really bad because they have a couple of walls of these things so there's a lot to look through. Ultimately they discovered the Ben Pop was at their sister store More Fun Toys because it was an older model and they had mostly the newest ones there. I forgot to get the other guy's name but Manny, you're the best for helping me search! We'll definitely be back next time we're in town. This place is great!

I'm not sure how I've never been here before! Let's chalk it up to all the eye candy on the square, but we stopped in this weekend for the first time. This is definitely one of those environments that nurtures both your inner child and your inner nerd. They are located on what is arguably the coolest side of the square! They are next to Atomic Candy, a few doors down from Mad World Records and on the same side as Beth Marie's!! That's not even counting all the food. However, it's very convenient to both the inner children and nerds to hit up all those spots! There were shelves upon shelves of comics, everything was brand new and shiny. I don't read comics, so this is not my area of expertise, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't see any used/traded comics on the shelves. They had a wide variety of board games, RPGs and card games too. I don't know anything about RPGs but I saw some classics and party games too, so there were a lot of different types to choose from. I wanted to take a closer look at these, but it was fairly crowded. They caught our attention though, and we plan to return and peruse more thoroughly. There was also a huge, huge, huge selection of POP figures, action figures and there was a glass display with some old school figures and comics that seemed pretty cool. I found some novelty items throughout, like giant dice and spoof books. I saw a good array of Doctor Who and Star Wars memorabilia. My husband was completely enraptured by the Back to the Future hat- I didn't take a picture because it hurt my eyes and I wasn't sure how that would come out, lol! The entire store is really neat, but it's a bit of sensory overload. This is the kind of place that I would need to spend more time in to really gather how good the selection is, but I did see a lot of nice surprises. The problem is the layout makes it difficult to look at anything without being in someone's way. Then you feel the need to move on because there is only so much room. The back left corner is a nightmare if you are claustrophobic. The aisles are so small it is 100% impossible for two people over the age of 8 to pass each other. It also juts off and comes around, so it's set up like a maze; my husband and I nearly collided with each other coming around a corner, couldn't pass and had to go back and forth multiple times to escape because people kept blocking our various exits. The rest of the store is less of a hazard, but again, there's not a lot of room for several people to look at the same area. Since we didn't purchase anything, I cannot comment on the service. There were three people working (or perhaps two? With the maze, it's possible I was seeing the same person but by different shelves) on a Sunday afternoon and two of them (or maybe one?????) greeted us and asked us if we needed help with anything. We declined since we were just browsing, but it was nice to be asked with a smile. I wouldn't mind finding a time when it's dead in there so I could take a closer look at things, but hey, don't be shy, head over and take a peek! I also saw they have periodic events, if that's your thing!

More Fun Comics & Games is THE place to buy your comics-related dork swag. The inventory is surprisingly diverse, from weekly comics to indy graphic novels and RPGs or action figures. THE selling point, however, is the proprietor and geek-guru Tim. Usually in the store on Mondays and Tuesdays, Tim is a Wikipedia and Encyclopedia of comics coolness and buzz and recommendations. Surprisingly well-read across a lot of fantasy and literature, he is the fella who can hook you up with what you'll like!

If something is out chances are you can find it. They don't have a large collection of back issues. They do have super cheap Star Wars Black Series figures. I feel like they could really look at online prices and inflate the prices of their figures and make more money.. but they don't. I've gotten a few figures here for retail that sold online for 40-50 bucks. It says a lot about the integrity of the owners that they aren't marking those up. Great shop! Check it out!

After he looked at all the cards he was reluctant to give me a number. So I had to play the guessing game and just figure out what he was valuing it at. I had already done research on my cards so I knew what they were worth in my head. Well over $100. I asked him if he would trade for a $20 card and a $10 card. Making the value $30. I knew I was taking a loss but I didn't really Care, I figured I might as well trade cards I don't want for some cards I do want even if I'm taking a Loss in value. He said no way, It's impossible to get to that value, I'm valuing your cards at like $15. So I just laughed, Got on my phone and started getting screen shots of the values of all my cards So I can show him what I'm seeing. I finally get around to explaining to him the values of my cards with picture proof, And he says yeah but you're pulling that up on an app, Apps generate fake Sales too so it's not reliable. And then he said he goes off of eBay Instead. Funny thing is when you click on the links on the app it takes you to the eBay listing and it shows the price it was sold at. So I told him this is eBay, And by the way eBay is also an app. Then he just started arguing, And acting obnoxious. Saying he doesn't use apps, Blah blah blah. He also went on to say eBay is full of fake sales, but had just said he doesn't use apps, just eBay sales. I told him that everybody Uses these apps to determine the value of cards. He asked me who is everybody. I said other collectors, Other card shops. And he said are they running my business? And then he said when you order something on eBay can you get it in 30 seconds. And I said no. And he said exactly that's the benefit of retail is that you can get it in 30 seconds and not have to pay for Shipping and fees. I said OK well you're just making my point stronger than because that means people paid more than what you're saying my cards are worth not only on price, But they also paid fees and shipping. Got to the point where I just had to leave, When I got out to my car I realized I had forgotten my drink inside and went back in. When I went back in he said some smart comment to me, In front of another customer. Just more of his usual nonsense. This guy is an absolute clown, And to his question about if these other places and people are running your business, No they are not. And that's why they are bigger than you, And that's why they have more product than you when you have none. The only product you have Is what you buy at another retail store, because nobody is sending you anything. You're too small of a business. And it's probably because of how small your way of thinking is.

Anyhow! I was finally able to visit the store in-person and was pleasantly surprised by their incredible selection. They carry mainly romance, romantasy and fantasy books, but I ain't complaining since that's what I read. On the back of the store they have a private seating area that feels very speakeasy-type.
