Located in a historic building with exposed brick walls along the newly renovated square, they have a decent selection of records. I was impressed with their vintage Britpop selection. I wish they'd had a bargain bin of eccentric and random records at low prices. I feel like I always get a kick out of finding some weird little treasure in the dollar bin. Bring your wallet - prices are mid to high, but this is an expertly curated collection of in demand music, so you're sure to find something that you won't be able to part without. Forever Young is as massive as you've seen (or hey, if you haven't seen photos, it's a huge store!)…read moreFor this reason alone, you're bound to walk out of the store happy, with at least a few records. When you walk in, you'll get that feeling of 'where do I start?' Don't worry, it will be ok. I took my first left, skipped the RSD section (pretty big, FYI) and went to the Xmas section. It too was also big, and where it was after the holiday, I thought maybe I might be able to find some cool titles. I walked away with one record I had been looking for and another I didn't know I was looking for but surely needed. After that, I continued onto a 90s/2000s section that, from what I could tell, was a mix of multiple mainstream genres like rock, pop, hip/hop, r&b, etc. Again, we're talking about a lot of records so I made the strategic choice to only look for items on my want list. I did this for the subsequent sections (a 80s/70s combo and 60s/50s combo) and still spent most of my 2 hours in the store in this manner. It was after going through these sections that I looked to the ground with more attention, where I suspected other genres laid their claim. I ended up finding way too many records to choose from for my partner, and some other sections that again were so big that I wasn't even prepared to dive in and dig. When I was finally ready to checkout, my sister (who was also shopping with me) mentioned she had got a punch card, which gives you some money off as you spend a certain amount on used records. She offered hers up to me for my purchase. I didn't pay much attention to the exact parameters, but I got $40 off which was much appreciated (especially considering pricing, which I will get to at the end.) As I was checking out, I noticed the collector's room and took a look at that before I left the store. While there was some interesting stuff in there, none of it was anything I was really looking for (especially not at the higher range.) Back on pricing, I did have a little bit of a shock when I saw that basically every record I picked up was $30 or $35. That's definitely what I'm used to paying back home for new records but not so much for regular used vinyl. This wasn't completely surprising, as I had bought some stuff from them online before, and was certainly softened by the discounts I got at the register but something to keep in mind before you go. Also, I think the pricing is also a function of the store being a bit of one-stop shop with its size. Finally, there is stuff other than vinyl (in fact, A LOT of CDs, as well as tapes, 8-track, etc.) but I wasn't looking for any of that so I didn't shop it. However, if you're into multiple media formats it should be all the more appealing. Happy record shopping!

Also, the value of most records are great, I have seen a few that may be over priced but every place is not going to be super cheap. My boyfriend and I have purchased a few records from the knowledge and helpful owners. The quality of our purchases has been great - which is a pretty important factor in buying a record! Prices are very reasonable compared to a lot of the bigger stores too. Major bonus is the location. Fairmount is my neighborhood so maybe I'm a little bias, but there is so much to do. Plus, the store it's self is in the cutest little library that ever did live. So come to my hood, pick out your next favorite soundtrack, and check out a book while you're there! The people that work there are super friendly. The kids can play with some of their display toys. The place is clean and well organized. Lots of gadgets from the past and trendy toys too. It just feels good to come to this store and support local. They make it easy with their good prices, well made products, and welcoming and friendly attitudes. Highly recommend this place! While I did not buy anything, I felt very welcomed by the staff and they let me browse at my leisure. My first thought as I scanned their collection was "this is a thinking person's bookshop". It was refreshing to see everything from contemporary literature to biography along with everything in between. Add to that, they carry an array of journals, bookmakers, posits, etc. to help enhance the reading experience. If you are into reading and learning, I highly recommend checking out this shop. Had a nice chat with the employee about library and comic shop partnerships and was offered some stuff to give my students. Walked out with a statue I'd been hoping to find again after giving my first one away as a prize. Very nice, knowledgeable staff with a wide variety of games and comics and the prices on the statues were not marked up. It is a little out of my way, but I'll make a point of stopping in whenever I am in that part of DFW again.
