Front entrance / parking spots

As a vinyl collector I make it a point to go to one or few record stores whenever I am visiting and Black Cat Records N Comics came up on my search for spots to check out while I was visiting Dallas on a weekend. Easy and front door parking is offered here. If you can't find parking there is a nice lot next door that you can park in or along the side street. We got a spot right in the front of the entrance door when we came. We were greeted immediately as we walked in and offered assistance if and when we needed. I appreciated the small talk with one of the workers as we talked about live music, Die Spitz (an Austin punk band), and how the store is laid out. There is so much to go through here so be ready to hang for an hour or so, if you got the time. There are bins priced from $1 to full price on new, used, and gently used vinyl records here. The organization of genres is easy to navigate with the great signs and markers for artists to singles VS LPs (albums) so you should be able to get through whatever particular genre or artist you want easily. Vinyl pricing varies regardless of what record store/s you visit because of demand but I thought Black Cat Records N Comics was fair. I got a single California Love vinyl by 2Pac/Dr. Dre in super excellent condition for less than $12! I also found a used copy of Boygenuis and my partner got a Snail Mail LP he had been on the hunt for. Pricing will vary based on new, used, and maybe popularity or rarity of the vinyl but that is the case across all record stores / online stores / etc. who sell vinyl. Super happy we stopped in and next time we are in Dallas we plan on coming back in again and seeing what other gems we can find.

Really cool record store! Colorful and quaint! It's in a central location close to downtown. Lots of variety!

The perfect place to read a book or catch up with a friend!…read more I stopped by Wild Detectives for a midday pick-me-up. They have a lot of cozy seating options and a unique selection of books/vinyl records! I got the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Matcha and absolutely loved it! It wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of cinnamon. Will absolutely be back!

The Wild Detectives had been on my Dallas bucket list for years, so I was quite excited to finally…read moremake my way to the Bishop Arts District and experience it for myself. First of all, the Bishop Arts District itself is incredibly charming. Block after block of unique shops ranging from bookstores and bakeries to candle shops, candy stores, coffee spots, and little boutiques. It's exactly the kind of neighborhood I loveeeee exploring while traveling and if I lived in Dallas, I'd probably frequent this area often. As for The Wild Detectives, the concept alone immediately appealed to me...bookstore meets cafe meets bar meets restaurant. That combination will pretty much always grab my attention. I love to read, I love to eat. The space has a pretty relaxed, community oriented vibe, and during my Saturday morning/early afternoon visit, there were plenty of people working, reading, chatting, and hanging out both inside and on the patio. My one slight disappointment was that the bookstore side itself was smaller than I expected and didn't have quite as extensive a selection as I had imagined. That said, I still managed to leave with a few great additions for my ever growing TBR pile. Overall, this was a worthwhile stop and one I may revisit the next time I'm in Dallas.
