It seemed like there were a lot of older used books, i didnt see many newer items. I'll definitely come back and see if i can find things that interest me. Im happy to support local businesses. Lucky Dog is that for Oak Cliff. It's no Barnes and Noble and I think that's what I love most about it. You'll be launched into an incredible collection of books used and not. Every nook and cranny has a chair waiting for the right person to find the right book. It's a good quiet place for anyone who needs it. The prices are incredibly affordable and tango me you meet in there is as sweet as they come. I feel at home because of this bookstore and I cannot thank the owners enough for weathering through the undoubtedly hard times so that I can spend a bit of time in the store.

I brought by roughly 50 LP's for her to examine & returned a short time later to be surprised she wanted all of them except for a few. Offered me a decent price for them all & I know she got a few gems out of the bunch since I wasn't concerned about getting top dollar, just wanting to move a few of my sister's massive collection. Great store with quality over quantity, no CD's, but they do have cassette tapes, turntables & some nice accessories. I'll be back for sure.

It's a much smaller than the original one on Haskell, but they still have some of the best vintage clothing, antique housewares, and fun stuff that you never knew that you needed until you saw it. It's smaller and easier to navigate than the original shop, but one of the best shops in the Bishop Arts District. They've got a bunch of the weirdest stuff you've ever seen. They have stacks of vintage records, jewelry, and strange boots. The staff was real friendly when I went, but were cursing the air conditioning, which they'd been tasked with changing the air filters. They didn't like that. Parking is easy, with a bunch of spots up and down Bishop.

I'm a comic head, so comics are what I come for exclusively (though they have plenty of records, and other things). Really appreciate that they have smaller imprints like Image, Vault, and Boom along with a tiny section of indie publishers. Cute shop, and always a personable staff member up front. Four stars for me just because they don't have a larger comic selection. To me, as someone who fits into the record collector/record dealer/cratedigger and DJ categories, visiting a record store I've never been to before is always an exciting or intriguing adventure. Josey has a reputation for being a good spot to buy records, so I am glad I finally went here to see what's up. Just looking around the store initially, I could see there are several areas in which the store could be improved or made more interesting. My first observation re: genre sections is that the signage for aisles could be more prominent. All of it is placed rather low, but at great record stores, you're never left guessing where everything is. You just find the music you're looking for more easily. With the massive volume of music releases in the store, I would like to see better curation of what's in stock. For example there were lots of Brian Eno releases, but not the ones I'd be interested in. For Parliament Funkadelic, there were just 2 Parliament 45s, but no Funkadelic and no George Clinton 45s. I thought that was weird. I was also looking for a famous jazz guitarist who's listed on the website, but the guy working the counter didn't even know who he was. Overall, I think the selection is decent if you are willing to spend time just looking through various sections, but there's no help on the floor--so you're just basically on your own. It kind of reminded me of shopping for records in a warehouse, but the warehouse I usually go to has much better curation. I should also state I tend to like smaller stores which get the mix of old and new releases more right or perhaps even focus on a certain niche. On a different note, in addition to music, there are lots of other cool things at Josey: a stage for performances, books, posters, tshirts and other ephemera. So, it is easy for music nerds to get lost here. Also, the parking situation is really good here, and I thought the service was good--the guys here are friendly, and one of them did go back into the aisles to look for something. Overall, I would rate this store a 4/5.

I've spent hundreds of dollars here but have never once been able to use my cards. 1) Card can't be used the same day you spend $100, have to come back 2) If you comeback and have an older card, they won't accept, 3) If you have more than one card you have to come back to use them individually, 4) Actual discount is only 15% off ONE item (under $100) while every other store gives a set dollar amount off from points earned, so cheap! Both employees got mad at me for trying to use my cards, owner refused to reply. No respect for regular customers.

This great bookstore used to be the old Church building of Holy Trinity. They have taken good care…read moreof it, and the Church presense and Iconography is still present. They have not removed the crosses on top of The Church. If you are looking for theological books, Bible linguistics, or a great selection of Bibles, I would highly recommend this store. It is right by Dallas Theological Seminary, and right next door to a great coffee shop. The only draw back is that their hours should be longer. 9am-4pm, excluding Sunday.
