Today I stopped by Office Max after I had gotten a massage- looking for a 5 subject notebook…read more Previously Target didn't have the color I wanted and I didn't want the hassle of going to Wal-mart. When I first walked in I stopped to view the greeting cards. I could feel the employees watching me at the printer counter.(Mind you I was not greeted coming into the store) but I continued reading about 3 different clever birthday cards. As I began to walk the center aisle I was approached by a short hispanic woman who had come from the register, I assume she was the manager, asking if I needed help finding anything. I told her a 5 Star- 5 subject notebook. As she guided me to the notebooks I tried making small talk and she abruptly cut me off and ignored me. We walked in silence until we made it to the aisle. When we got to the notebooks she kurtly threw her hand up and said here are the 5 subject notebooks and walked away. They didn't have the color I wanted either. I was going to get a different brand but I noticed the priced was a bit high for a notebook. So I pulled out my phone to compare to stores around me and I found what I was looking for at a much better price. I began to exit the store, I notice various employees are surveilling me. I sat in an office chair to test it out. Since I work from home I sit alot and my back bothers me from time to time. I take a slip and exit the store. As I leave I notice there is a black male standing by the door watching me leave until I got in my car. I never shop at Office Max, but after the way I was treated. I won't be back.

Best Buy is still in the game, but I'm not sure for how long. The shelves are regularly sparse or…read morebare these days and selection is random or slim; hopefully not taking the same path as Fry's. I still come to Best Buy to try to keep the business afloat because I like having a store close by that has something I can get today rather than wait for shipping, but this appears to be a diminishing reality. Best Buy appears to be raising their prices rather than posting prices at the traditional "Best Buy" price, which was usually a reasonable local price (not beating mega-online stores, but close enough to pay extra for convenience). It looks like their model has turned into the 'high-price posted so you can haggle it down by showing that (fulfilled by*) Amazon has it cheaper' model. Quite frankly, I'm tired of that game. I hate haggling, but I also hate the visible expectation of it. If every other store has it cheaper, why are you the "Best Buy"? I bought something there today. It was $20 more expensive than Amazon where I could get it by tomorrow with free shipping. $20 more than on the manufacturer's site as well (also with free shipping). That is about the most I'm willing to pay for convenience. I'm still trying, Best Buy... but please stay competitive without the need for the customer to haggle, it makes it very hard to refer people if I know I'm sending them in to a garage-sale like experience.

NO compassion at all for the customer or the situation. It is completely unacceptable to charge this fee on an item that he informed me would not be "restocked" any way especially when the box was only opened long enough to realize it was not the correct product needed.
