I love this place the atmosphere is great the food is amazing and the oysters are so fresh. I highly recommend this place but tonight I was a little bit disappointed, Does not mean that I do not like the restaurant but one of my friends had a small accident. The bus boy carried too many dirty plates and dropped one of them on her back. This is not some thing that happened on purpose and we are not mad at the bus boy for doing that, But he left the plate behind her back and being she is not a big woman it kind of hurt when it fell on her , this also stained her jacket and her white shirt. We had to remove the plate we had to help her clean up which I don't think was right the bus boy should've at least remove the plate right away instead of letting it sit in the back of her and walking away with just a sorry.. ( he did not come back to help clean up ) The manager came to apologize very briefly which we could not hear him due to the mask he was wearing . He deducted her dish off the bill. That was not our concern, The point was how everything was handled, I believe that the bus boys should all be trained that if this happened they should react quicker and remove whatever has fallen from the customer instead of saying sorry and walking away. This is a nice restaurant to come to I highly recommend it and I am not downing it at all. But money isn't always important and even after our bill being over $200 , we just wanted a little more sincerity in this matter. The To management of off the hook if you read this please train your bussers to be more sincere when making a mistake. Thank you again and I will always return to the restaurant I enjoy everything. read more

Wow! Hadn't been here in 6-8 months. Live a few hrs away, and occasionally come for work. Anyway I digress. I happened to see the owner and the head Chef outside talking. She ended up tell me that their rather large family split the duties and run both. I had the Blue Prawn Pasta. I was amazing. Not a giant portion which is nice. The flavors were very balanced. The broccoli that is in the dish is subtle, which is nice. Nothing more annoying then getting these giant florets as the center of your dish. Up front I had the Heirloom Caprese, and paired with their "by the glass" Pinot Noir, which was equally balanced...not to weak and not too fruit forward. Desert was the Bananas Fosters. Unique presentation, not a giant desert, which again was delicious! I'll be back for sure!! read more

We have been coming to Off The Hook since they opened. My favorite is the cod sandwich , freshly grilled thick piece of cod with a nice bun and their signature slaw in it. I have been eating the same thing for years. But this year I have not gone out to eat as much due to the prices every restaurant have increased alit more than my liking. Today I had a craving for their fish sandwich with that beautiful slaw in it. I ordered for take out and was shocked that the price went up to $28. It was $16 for a long time. Ok so I thought let's just get it since I have never spent that much money for a fish sandwich to go. When I got home and opened it, wow, what a shock. It's not a grilled piece of fish but a deep fried piece of fish (like any other)with cheddar cheese, a slab of tartar sauce, a regular bun, NO SLAW, hard piece of brussel sprout piece, a couple of red onion pieces, nothing else!! The crust was lame, no crisp batter, the fish was dry did not taste as fresh as what I was use to with small amount of string fries. What's going on here....for $28? I truly felt cheated...they changed the recipe and added $12 ,no special taste and quality.....well that will be my last. A ripp off, very sad! If you go there, at least don't get the fish sandwich and double check their prices, it's not the same as on Yelp. read more

There is a great outdoor seating setup, with heat lamps and a nice band. Nice ambiance, and the food was really good, at reasonable prices. We had a nice time there eating dinner with our friends. I would recommend coming and would come again. read more

We usually come here for brunch but have come for dinner too. We have tried most all of the selections on the brunch menu which are all unique and delicious! Love the smooth brunch music and the servers are kind and professional. Patio-seating is always preferred as well. I highly recommend this spot for lunch and dinner! read more

Was missing this place, glad they're back! Food is terrific per usual, love their grilled cheese and the yellowtail sashimi. Wearing a mask to walk thru the restaurant is a little annoying but I get it. Sat on the patio and service was prompt and the tables were spaced to a comfortable distance. It's so nice to get a quality restaurant in the area, I'm hoping their success will attract others. I have made several visits and they all have been enjoyable--the food is definitely at a higher notch than your typical Los Alamitos/Long Beach restaurant and it's nice to go to a place that caters to a more adult clientele. Service is excellent and their cocktails are amazing. The wine list in my opinion is playing it too safe and could use a bit of tweaking. read more

Well me and my Dad wanted to see if this place was really "Off The Hook" and our waitress was super friendly and nice and we let her know if was our first time so we wanted to try a few things. I highly recommend their Lobster "sandwich" but it's not called a sandwich. It was so amazing I wanted more. I give this place 4 stars because it was kind of noisy and besides only some seating there isn't a lot of room for parties of 6-8. read more

It's pretty good place for fresh seafood lovers and American food lovers. Love the oysters. Definitely a place to go other than boathouse on the bay. However, comparing to the parents owned fish place, "off the hook" doesn't really off the tie. Price wise are similar. Personally I still go next door in the future. read more

Stopped by for a quick cocktail on a Saturday evening. It wasn't too crowded and we were seated quickly. Their ruby red martini was really delicious and not too sweet. The Caribbean rum cocktail (can't remember the name) looked and tasted like vacation in a glass - or coconut in this case. The service was not the most friendly but efficient so I'll take it. Tried this place last Saturday since the wait at the Original Fish Company was over an hour wait. And I am so glad we stumbled upon it. It is nicely decorated and very modern/upscale that you forget you're on Katella/Los Al Blvd. They are the same owners as Original Fish Company next door, menu is different but they offer the must haves, burgers, steak, fish with a nice selection of apps. The place itself isn't that big, seats maybe 40 people max and the bar area is pretty neat. I only got to try one drink off of their cocktail menu but the cocktail list looks very interesting and I will definitely be back to try more. Husband ordered the burger and said it was delicious and my son is usually very picky but he liked the sliders. I had their specials of the night, a skirt steak and it was tasty. Didn't really care for a better sliced jalapeños in my salad and I found that to be a little bit odd. They have only been open for 10 days when we dined there so the staff was a little bit slow and there was really no host at the front and people were kind of just looking around because no one greeted them. But I assume the service will get better just like their sister restaurant next-door who always offers excellent service. read more

Came tonight after a long day. Food was good, but service needs work. Our server seemed to be pre-occupied with other guests. Had to request items more than once. She took our order, did not split the entree as requested. No extra plates My daughter had requested her soup twice and then it was lukewarm. Never asked if we wanted dessert. Just drop the bill on the table. Also, music was not appropriate for the evening. The acoustic guitar player that was there a while ago played such great background music. So delicious! My husband and I came here for an impromptu date on a Friday night. There was only room at the bar but that was ok because the bartender and servers were so nice and quick. We had oysters and a wedge salad and an amazing shrimp pasta with a Meyer lemon creme fraiche sauce, it was heavenly! Their signature cocktails were sooo good too. They "say" a mask is required at ALL TIMES in the restaurant. I understand that, we only had one mask. So I asked her if we want to be seated outside, can one person go get seated and since it's outside they can pass me their mask and I can go through the restaurant to our seat outside (apparently you HAVE to go through the whole restaurant to be seated outside the patio even though the patio door is open). Ppl sitting outside HAS NO MASK ON. Ppl sitting on their tables inside HAS NO MASK ON. PPL WALKING OUT the restaurant has NO MASK, yet she says a MASK HAS TO BE ON AT ALL TIMES. She tells me it's because they're all seated already and they HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE WHOLE RESTAURANT TO BE SEATED (outdoor patio is open), yet she still says we need two masks because why? Once were seated we dont wear the mask because obviously ALL THE PPL SEATED INSIDE AND OUT HAS NO MASK ON (not to make this about race but yea, they were all white and so is she). PPL WALKING OUT HAS NO MASK ON yet it's such an issue to "have a mask on at all times". I'll call it as it is, YOURE RACIST ! And I used to love this place too. read more

The drinks at this place are really delicious! The latest one I had was the guava-tini. I'd go back for that for sure. The New England style clam chowder is very good & is the same one served at its sister store next door - The Original Fish Co. The raw oysters which are even on the Happy Hour menu right now are a real treat! The chicken with lemon rice was delicious as well. The wait staff really work hard but manage to treat the guests very nicely. Whenever we can, my husband and I enjoy Happy Hour on Off the Hook's inviting patio. read more

The fish market we normally go to was packed (Mother's Day) so we went next door. Really liked it. Waitress was super friendly and the food was excellent. baked Oysters for an app, my wife got lobster tacos and I got the salmon. Food was good. Service was good. Atmosphere is OK. Not happy that they do not honor gift cards from The Fish Company. They use The Fish Company in the name so that was a huge disappointment. Update: received a thoughtful response from the owner. She explained that they are separate businesses and can't honor gift cards from The Fish Co. I'm raising the stars from two to three as a result, because I appreciate the follow-through. But, given the shared branding and co-location, I believe that it is a reasonable expectation for customers to be able to use gift cards at both locations, and that the restaurant should do a better job of forewarning customers so that there isn't a shock when the bill comes. read more

Off the hook has been opened only a short while and already it is becoming popular. As part of the Original fish company this oyster bar continues the tradition of great service and great fresh food. The twist is in the small plates and the creative dishes offered. My wife and I have tried it twice ... once during happy hour ... and both times were super enjoyable. The place is organized, friendly and the food is great! Try the oysters during happy hour .. basically half price ... and the must eats include the jalapeno cheeze bread and the short ribs tacos. The menu is fun and very creative. We are longtime clients of the fish company and will continue the tradition at Off the hook! read more
