Whoa! YEEEEE HAWWWW!!!! This. Is. Great. BBQ! So searching through Yelp and the Internet for "best BBQ" and of course, many have their opinions. So I went with my wallet. All the other celebrated places were SO expensive! I was shocked at the BBQ prices here in Dallas. So looking at 4+ star BBQ restaurants, I picked this one. AND I'M SO GLAD I DID! It obviously has been in business for a long time. It's in an older part of Dallas, and quite frankly, I'll just say that I was glad to pass the police station! LOL Naw, but although the neighborhood is older, it's not sketch and seems pretty safe walking from the close by DART station. I had the 3 meat plate with ribs, chicken and brisket. Oh my. My first bite was the brisket. Heaven. Tender. Flavorful. Then the rib. Yep, it fell off of the bone. Then the chicken. Nice smokey flavor with a great spiced skin. The potato salad was good. The fried okra was amazing, it had a crispy thin batter that was perfect. The whole wheat dinner roll was good. My palate and tummy are in heaven! I'm so glad I came here, it was a good call! Met the owners, good peeps. The recipes are her grandmother's. The young lady who took my order was friendly. It's not a fancy place, but it's definitely a place where you would expect to have great barbecue. Oh, and on the way out, I bought their peach cobbler to eat later. And it is delicious! Some BBQ places just don't have good sides or good enough sides. You gotta have good sides! and better have good desserts. This is a winner! You must eat here. Ditch the high-end places. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

To die for ribs, green beans, baked beans, fried corn, fries, rolls, queso Mac and cheese!!! And can't forget the peach cobbler. So amazing!!! The sides were piping hot and ribs fall off the bone. Fast delivery to the Lorenzo hotel right to my door on DoorDash! Thank you so much

5/10 overall Our office placed orders here for lunch I ordered the ribs, queso, mac & cheese, and potato salad! Mac and cheese fair could have used a little seasoning, potatoes salad chunky 8/10.. ribs some were dry. I will try again for a second chance but this go around was not pleased.

So I had the 3 meats and 2 sides. The Ribs: Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection The Brisket: Juicy, and seasoned nicely The jalapeno cheddar sausage packed with flavor & heat. The mac & cheese & fried okra were good too. The TVs were great for watching sports and a friendly atmosphere & very Affordable for the quality & quantity of food. The only downside was the Lack of Smoky Flavor: While the ribs and brisket were delicious, they could have benefited from a stronger smoky flavor. Overall, Off the Bone BBQ seems like a good spot for satisfying your barbecue cravings. The ribs, brisket, and sausage are all good, and the atmosphere is inviting. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a good meal and catch a game, this might be the place for you.

Off the Bone Barbeque is a family owned barbecue joint in downtown Dallas that serves up barbecue ribs, smoked brisket, and all your favorites in a non-descript location. What was most surprising about my trip, however, wasn't the ribs or smoked meats. I discovered the Chocolate Chip Pecan cookie. My Overall Rating - 3 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food) Atmosphere - You'll find Off the Bone Barbecue south of downtown Dallas. Plenty of seating on my Thursday 12:30 PM visit. I didn't find the long lines at other DFW BBQ joints, nor did I find the same charm. But it clean and seating was not a problem. 1/2 Star. Service - The staff was very friendly. We placed our order at the counter, and later a server brought out our food. They were fast, efficient, friendly, and always smiling. 1 Star. Food - I ordered a two-meat plate with brisket and ribs. It was good but not great. The bark on the brisket had plenty of flavor and was tender on the fatty side, but I had to dip the rest in the excellent, tangy barbecue sauce. True to the name of the restaurant, the meat fell off the bone of my ribs. They were short - like St. Louis style ribs. Tender and when dipped in the sauce, my bite was superb. But both meats lacked a heavy smoke flavor that I've grown accustomed to and expect. To finish my meal, I had a Chocolate Chip Pecan cookie. Wow. This was not only the best item I ate at Off the Bone Barbecue, but the moist cookie with generous amounts of chocolate and pecan was one of the best cookies I've ever had anywhere. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - No. While there are better barbecue options in DFW, the Chocolate Chip Pecan cookie was fantastic. However, I'd rather return because of my meal, not my dessert. No Stars.

Was going to a place nearby for lunch recently, and when I got there I didn't like what I saw. So I pulled up Yelp to see what was close. Fortunately I was about two blocks from Off The Bone. Plenty of parking, nice looking spot, friendly staff. I asked the cashier what she recommended, and she said brisket and pulled pork. This surprised me, because ever since I moved from Louisiana to Texas, I haven't found a single place that did pork right... and Texas BBQ spots certainly don't typically promote their pork. I ordered sliced brisket, pulled pork, queso mac and cheese and green beans. Took my seat and waited just a couple of minutes before my food was brought to the table. Working my way through the plate, here's what I found: Pulled pork: Spectacular. Tender, seasoned, exactly how I cook it at home. Mac and cheese: It's made with queso, which offers a little kick. I had low expectations at first, but it's one of the best versions I've ever had at a bbq place. Green beans: Perfect. Cooked down, fresh, meaty flavor. Not mushy but firm. Brisket: First bite was amazing. The bark had a great flavor, and the meat was relatively tender. Unfortunately here's where OTB earned four stars and not five. The rest of my brisket was dry. All the bark had a decent flavor, but the brisket fell apart on my fork and crumbled in my mouth. Extremely dry and disappointing. For the rest of my brisket I just ate the bark. That said, I will definitely be back. Overall the meal was way above average and these guys have earned their high ratings. I enthusiastically recommend that you check it out.

Almost everything was great... minus the cornbread. I'm used to a buttery cornbread. This one was not so much. The food came to the table quick. We ordered the family meal. The mac+cheese and the greens were FIRE! Needed more of the sides. The meats (brisket, chicken, ribs, and sausage) were delicious. Besides a cowboys helmet on a counter, the restaurant had a great vibe. The rolls were slamming too

Back to heavenly roots. A week of seafood in Cali to the best BBQ in Texas! I remember when I first brought my sister here in 2020. We loved the fried corn and today we decided we would drive 45 min for lunch. Sooo glad we did. The corn is soooo dang good. But that's not all that's good. The ribs, as the name says fall of the bone and is seasoned perfectly. Not overly smoky with the right amount of flavor and tenderness. I just luv em'. Their ribs have just the right amount of fat to make them moist and tasty. I'm not a BBQ sauce guy but I really like Off the Bones. The potato salad, made in house is tart, sweet and so tangy. Again a must try. Their greens beans are freshly cooked and prepared and soooo good. I love the chunks of potatoes cooked in with them. Finally, the queso Mac n cheese is Devine. The colored greens were seasoned and so good. The right amount of pork and fat back warming my taste buds. Rarely, can you find such great food prepared with love and that warms your soul. Glad we ordered enough to dinner tonight or left overs tomorrow. The folks here are friendly and service is top notch!

After getting in a bit of sightseeing around Dallas, I had to deal with my appetite. While in Dallas, I had to get some barbecue. Off the Bone Barbeque was one of the restaurants nearby where I was, so I tried it out. The brisket was so tender that all I had to do was look at it, and it fell apart. That may be an exaggeration, but that was some tender brisket. The baked beans hit the spot. And the cornbread muffin that came with it was a bonus. I had a slice of peach pie for carryout and it needed a scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it. I'd have to try a few other items from their menu the next time I am in Dallas. My friends seemingly couldn't recommend any good barbecue restaurants. Well, I can, and Off the Bone Barbeque is on the list.

Quick and delicious ribs. The meat comes right off the bone - sorry could not resist. Friendly service and good variety of sides. A nice little spot for a quick fix of ribs or BBQ.

Ordered Turkey, Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage and Mac and Cheese on the 2 meat combo plate. First off, that was $27 which I thought was rather high but with the hype I thought it might be worth it. The turkey was tender and juicy and rather flavorful, except for the end piece of turkey breast (I assume) with the skin side which was extremely tough. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was okay, but it didn't really retain either the jalapeño, cheddar, or the smoky taste which I thought was disappointing. The Mac and Cheese had bacon bits on it which were nice and crispy but the Mac and Cheese wasn't very rich or complex flavor wise, which I found slightly underwhelming. The sauce was super runny and while it had flavor, I never think having to put sauce on stuff to give it flavor is the answer. All that being said, for $27 I wasn't going to leave anything on the plate. The service I thought was rather hands off and I'm surprised nobody came and checked on us although that may be just how things are. The ambiance was cool with old license plates and pictures along with some cool western themed things up on the walls to make it seem warm and homey. All in all, I was left with the feeling that there should've been more and I was kinda disappointed after all the hype I've seen and all the gravitas that the name Pecan Lodge carries with it. I'd say probably a 6.5-7/10 so that lands me at 3 stars because it really didn't feel 4 star worthy.

The pitmaster (a great follow on Instagram) continues to work his magic and create creative dishes that pair flavors from his home country with Texas smoke. My Overall Rating - 3 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Kafi has undergone a makeover! Gone is the mural with the Wagyu cow. It's been replaced with a natural wood wall that also extends to the line. At the end of the line is what you came for, smoked brisket, back ribs, and more under a heat lamp (more on this later). Kafi BBQ keeps the hookah friendly outdoor space, the red (and comfortable) booth seating, and the smell of smoked wood. 1 Star. Service - The staff is great. Once it's your turn, they will slice your meat to order. I forgot to ask for fatty brisket the last time I went, and they were nice enough to slice it for me. Once your meat is weighed, you get your sides and desserts. Great system - I hope they don't change a thing. 1 Star, Food - I think I figured out why each of my visits to Kafi BBQ haven't been as good as others'. Because the next day when I heat up my leftovers, the brisket is amazing. Kafi BBQ's food sits under a heat lamp. If you visit later in the day when the brisket and ribs have been sitting out, your meat will be dry. All my visits have been the same, and I had to dip it in BBQ sauce (you may or may not like it). Same goes for the sides, the fries sound amazing, but each time I ordered them they had been sitting out. Now, the next day when I reheat the brisket (put it in an oven for 45 min at 225 degrees), it's some of the best brisket in all of North Texas. Heads up! Wagyu brisket comes at a price. I usually spend $100+ for me and my son. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Salahodeen continues to hone this craft. Each visit continues to offer a new experience. While Kafi BBQ is only open Thursday - Sunday, it's still one of the most unique Texas-style BBQ joints (with a Halal twist) in all of North Texas. 1 Star.
