Happened on this location from an Instagram post. Their menu is as full of different variations of baked potato mixtures. The one I picked had links, brisket, ribs, and sausage inside a cheesy baked potato. These plates can be eaten by a couple. It was way too much for just me by myself. The bbq was cooked well overall and the rest was just overkill but you'll definitely get full. The average pricing was around $20+ to start so be prepared to pay for the food. They also have koolaid, it's extremely sugary if you're not big on that type of taste. I visited yesterday for lunch. I ordered 3 things to go. The stuffed potatoes are huge. They are very generous. The problem was the rib plate. I received the most fatty ribs ever which is very disappointing after paying $29 a plate. The sides were mac & cheese and potato salad. The potato salad was good. The mac needed a little more seasoning. They need to upgrade their plastic to go containers. The portions are too big for these little flimsy plates and encourage spilling. That Cake Daddy strawberry cake was good and worth the $10 for the size. This place was worth trying at least once, but I doubt I'll be back. read more

Called and asked if they take orders over the phone, she said yes and took my order and said I had a 20 minute wait. I get there to pay with cash and they didn't have any change ... then after I pay with Apple Pay, she tells me my order will be ready in 20 minutes and that they are other orders ahead of mine. If you don't not trust that orders placed over the phone will be paid for then do NOT accept them. But lying is absolutely stupid! And on top of that, the place is junky. This is my second time to this place but it will be my last! One thing I don't paid for is bad service and 40 minutes for a baked potato is not worth it. Easily the best loaded baked potatoes I've had in Texas in a long time. Reminds me of the Turkey leg hut in houston but with even more options! I got the turkey and shrimp in my potato and it was so Good I was completely full for the whole day and even ate it for dinner the portions are generous and fulfilling for sure! I didn't try the food. My boys had the barbecue chicken sandwich and only took two bites and left it In the car. They were out of fries out of nachos. It was so hot outside and inside the chairs were still up on the tables and it felt like we walked into the grill. They didn't take cards only Zelle, cash app or Apple Pay. I love baked potatoes and stopped here. The customer service could be improved as the workers did not offer greetings upon entering. While reviewing the menu, one lady in the back continued to sneeze/cough but eventually walked away to the back. I ordered a loaded chop beef potato and paid $21. The potato tastes like mush. My last review was in 2017 fast forward to 2022. I dont know who owns the place or why someone should have told them this is Texas and there's a bbq spot on every corner. Seems to be family owned and with this lil entitled attitude in the air. Calling in is a joke as well as the times posted on the door I remember calling a hour b4 closing and was told there not serving because of a family meeting. The bbq here is good. I would recommend it. However, they get 3 stars because of how they operate. The prices change, the attitudes change and you just never know what you're going to get, interaction wise. They also do strange things like charge $2 extra to put meat that already comes w your potato, on the side of the potato vs on top. $1 to put your bbq sauce on the side versus on top. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Call your order in because it's always packed and the space is very small. Don't expect to be greeted when you walk in and if you order via phone, go to the register vs waiting in the food line because you will be waiting a long time. Again, the food and desserts are good. Good Barbecue. If you're a fan of good smoked meat, then the atmosphere of the place as you drive up won't put you off at all...you'll feel right at home. Because, it is run down. Such are all the great pits. A couple of things of note: Gator refers to Florida Gators, not to meat. There is no gator available here. A Swamp Plate is just a gator themed way of saying "meat + 2 veggies". We got a variety and it was all good. Between us, we had sausage, sliced and chopped brisket, pork and chicken. The chili beans, green beans and collards were fantastic. When I say the collards were good, they weren't just good "for collards", they were probably the best thing on my plate and the brisket was plenty good. Short one star because of service, they're just slow. I don't mind because we weren't really in a hurry, but compared to most places, this one stands out as being slow - probably close to 10 minutes to serve a plate where all the food is already prepared on a cafeteria line. They could stand to improve their process a little, but it's really ok as you just get to enjoy the atmosphere more. read more

Let me start off with my chronic disgust I have for East Texas Links. I mean really really extra minced meat with a fatty chew and a rubbery skin with crackers is suppose to be a black staple. Black card revoked, right? Well Gatorpit definitely reissued my card. $5.25 for half a dozen. They cooked them a little longer which took away from the overall rubber texture of the link's skin. The extra minced meat was still fatty (not as much) but extra seasoned and passed the cracker test and bread too! I got spicy sauce in the side and requested off my chopped beef for my double meat baked potato. We'll talk about that monster briefly. Literally the best sauce I've tasted to date. My only wish is that the sauce was thicker. Consistency was slightly runny but I'd still drink it out of the oldest and nastiest boot you could find. Baked potato was big as hell. In fact, when I walked in, I had a picture of this item pulled up from their Instagram account. I laid it down on the counter and said, "give that big ass potato." David, the owner, laughed. His staff was full of humor and provided a comedic performance during my visit. You forgot about the second me I mentioned 10 sentences ago. Pork ribs! Not the best (Hard Eight), but still flavorful. Overloaded with chopped beef, so much you could have about to chopped beef sandwiches off the top and still have enough evenly distributed through the potato. I LOVE IT. topped with butter, sour cream, bacon, chives and cheese. I was a fat (not happy) camper. :) I'm all about local, small barbecue joints. Tried this restaurant by chance and glad that I did. I did not having a great idea at the available menu but was pleasantly surprised at the options! This is your typical hole-in-the-wall spot with delicious treasures inside. We ordered link sandwiches, a sliced beef sandwich, a rib plate, the pink cake, mini sweet potato pie and banana pudding. Everything was yummy in it's own right. For example, a friend stated that the potato salad didn't taste like her mother's but it was still very tasty and she ate it all! Sliced beef was tender and flavorful. Links were semi-spicy and juicy. Ribs were flavorful but could have been more tender. Banana pudding had real pieces of banana with wafers (as it should). It was delicious! They serve Kool-Aid!! (The red flavor of course) We purchased our food to go so I can't say much about the restaurant itself. Service was fine. I love Gatorpitt BBQ and I've been eating it for bout the last 3 years. I always grab the 3 Meat Potato with all Ribs which usually comes with 6 to 8 Ribs on it. This time my 3 Meat Potato had only 4 Ribs and 2 TINY 3rd of the regular Size Ribs that were barelyedible. I called to tell the restaurant that they had shorted me on 2 ribs and some lady answered the phone while yelling at kids in the Background to Sit down and put that down. I explained to her what happened and her LIE or Explanation was that they'd actually given me Extra Ribs because a 3 Meat Potato all Rib supposedly o ly co.es with 3 Ribs unless they give u extra. I said Ma'am I've had this Potato at least 20 times. 3 times in the last 2 months and I've never received under 6 Ribs so that means there's 2 Ribs per 1 Meat correct? She begins adamantly telling me No that's not there procedure. I said so if I order a 1 Meat Rib Potato, I only get 1 SINGLE RIB? She says yeah thats correct. Our first time here.. my kids loved it, I loved it! The nachos were great, the baked potato was huge! The service was fast. We went on a Friday around 7 which I just knew it would be a bit of a wait, well there wasn't. The young lady even walked our food out to us. We waited 10 mins tops on our food. Heard a lot of good things about this place and seen the Facebook page and had to make it over there. Walked in and smelled BBQ smoke, and that is a wonderful thing. Ordered (2) 3 meat potatoes for me and the wife and watched as they HAND CUT AND CHOPPED everything. Grabbed that and (3) pulled pork,chopped beef sandwiches($.99 each) made it back across town.
