The only thing I mean the ONLY thing that stops this from being 5 stars is CASH ONLY!! Bring cash ahead of time if you plan on going here because finding a nearby ATM is a pain in the butt. The 7/11 machine has been robbed so it's gone and the Wells Fargo machine up the street in front fiesta is hit or miss. Fiesta is the closest ATM. Other than that this was the best damn baked potato I've ever had in my entire 41 years of existence on this earth. Talk about full this held true to its name because after eating this I basically passed out and woke up in the middle of the night in a daze not realizing I had fallen asleep. I indulged in "The big knockout" it's a baked potato with ribs sausage brisket topped with cheese chives bacon bits and sour cream. I've been thinking about this potato for the last 4 days now and I look forward to getting another one real soon. Like this weekend read more

Food was very good. Even though it 20 minutes to get 2 baked potatoes. Overly priced but delicious. The place gave me an old school rodeo feeling. We paid $36 for 2 baked potatoes that had chopped links and brisket. Definitely worth trying! read more

I made it here just a little before they closed so there were no sides. That was an indication that the food was good to me. It was. The chopped beef and the ribs were really good. Sauce was delicious. Meat was not too smoky. It was perfect bbq. Service was fast and friendly. Cash only business. read more

When I first step to the counter, there was a lady standing there she said nothing to me. Hi can I take your order or nothing then I ordered the food even after I got such horrible service. I got the worst baked potato. I have ever eaten in my life, I asked for chopped beef and sausage. The beef was not chopped, and it was not tender. I could not eat any of the chopped beef that was in my baked potato ,I literally had to go through and pick the chop beef, out to the point I got tired, and I threw the baked potato in trash. The sausage wasn't even tender. I would never come to this place ever again I always try to support my black owned businesses, but not when they give half ass service and food. Ps. We the black community don't owe you nothing so stop acting like it and do your job and cook good food and give good service good day. read more

I have been hearing the hype of this place where and tried it out and I'm not the one that normally do reviews. But I went today and I'm going to take the rib s was dry they give you the end piece and I didn't like it at all I have way more better ribs than this I'm not going to tell no one not to go there because this is my opinion but I will say it's a two out of 10 on the rib. read more

Please bring back the jalapeños and pickles for the Big Heavyweight and Lightweight. Pretty please! Give us the option. The combination was stellar. The baked potato was cool, I got brisket and link. I did not care for the rib plate in which I got baked beans and green beans as the sides. The Texas toast is just regular white bread. Overall it was cool. I personally wouldn't order it again I'm sure they have their target audience that loves it. It just doesn't tickle my fanny. read more

First and foremost CASH ONLY. This place is definitely a whole in the wall. The portions are HEFTY. The prices are average. The only thing I didn't like is that everything is a la carte and depending on what you get, that's not a problem. I got the brisket sandwich. It was pretty good, full of flavor and tasty. Don't expect full service. You order your food at the counter, again, CASH ONLY. I love how they have their menu with visuals on the wall. It allows you know exactly what you are getting. I've eaten at Kooly's a hand full of times now and let me just say, they do not disappoint. I'm always iffy about where I get BBQ from because some restaurants do not live up to their name, but Kooly's does. The meat is always tender and juicy and their sides are great too! Also, you get enough food for your money's worth. FYI, since they've moved to a bigger location earlier this year, you can now eat inside. And, they only accept cash now. read more

I went back when they were in Bonnieview. Based on that viral video...yea you know which one. Some damn good bbq. They are now in Illinois where I grew up. The brisket nachos are insanely good. The big heavyweight is my go to and never disappoints. They have some really good sauce. That lip smacking kind. Can't wait to go back even though I live 30 mins away! read more

I purchased a heavyweight potato with chopped beef and links. I was not pleased with it. The beef was rubbery and fatty. The links was hard and dried out. I have purchased the heavyweight several times but it has been awhile. For $18 it was a waste of money. I would have taken it back but it was a distance to do so. Next time if a next time, I will definitely check my order before leaving. read more

On July 2, I went to Kooly's BBQ because I have heard of their fabulous baked potatoes from a friend. I decided to look up the reviews and saw that they were very well rated. Can you imagine a potato that over 1lb, and filled so much smoked GOODNESS that it'll take either a big appetite or you and a friend to finish it! So after reading about Koolys and finding out it was rather close we decided to give it a try. WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO FIND OUT ABOUT THIS PLACE!!??? Due to covid constraints, Koolys takes orders from a small window at the Restaurant, it's a small place and lines on Friday can get long but it's worth the wait. I being "greedy" ordered the "Heavyweight" the name says it all; it was a gigantic potato filled with butter, sour cream, chopped brisket, and smoked sausage, it's then smothered in melted cheese topped with green onions and covered in bacon bits. Whoa...it was AWESOME! The service was quick and courteous and I most definitely will be going back! Try it out you won't be sorry. read more

The shrimp basket was out of this world: eight jumbo fried shrimp served with texas toast, french fries, and pickle slices. I got some ketchup packets for dipping purposes, but they were ultimately useless because the spicy tartar sauce (?) that was included just owned everything. And the shrimp... likely the best I've had in my life. Those plump crustaceans were enrobed in the lightest coat of batter and fried to crispy perfection. The only downside to my meal was that the pickles were buried under the fries, causing some loss of crispiness to two fries. But I don't think this will prevent me from coming back, as all of the other fried goods I saw people getting looked equally amazing. Maybe some fried mac and cheese next time... And as a side note, props to the service. Before placing my order, I was warned that it would be a fifteen minute wait. Although this, plus ~10 min, is expected of the Klyde Warren food trucks (in my experience), I think that forewarning your customers is one of those small but considerate gestures, and completely necessary. So I took a seat at one of the nearby park tables, while customers of less considerate food trucks paced deliriously back and forth before me, checking on their orders every five minutes and totally exacerbating their hunger pains.

I'm so glad I walked all the way down to the end because there sat the Lab Food Truck, the name kinda of threw me off because I saw flames but had no clue what goodness was on that truck. First thing that caught my eye was poboy I love a good poboy and my decision was made, plus I had the option of spicy or regular? Well give me spicy. The portion was really a nice size for a food truck. The serving was comparable to any sit down restaurant and the flavor exceed many sit down restaurants as well. When they handed me my sandwich I hurried and walked back to my table protecting my sandwich from all the canine sniffing noses. That poboy was wonderful it was fresh shrimp and oh so spicy. The bread was buttery and toasty. The remoulade sauce was tasty but not even necessary. The fries were standard but it was all about the poboy. I cannot wait to try other offerings from the Lab Food Truck, one of my friends arrived late and she went and got the same thing and neither one of use were disappointed. This is a must try again.

My husband introduced me to Kooly's and let me tell you it was worth the drive from Mesquite! my husband got the heavyweight and i got a 2 meat plate and my mouth was drooling the WHOLE RIDE HOME! And sad to say that I lived most my life in Oakcliff and never knew about them.. my husband is from Pittsburgh, PA but he always finds the best places to grab some food. I will recommend this place to anybody that says they want BBQ. only reason it's not a 5 star is just the location, if you are not familiar with Dallas (Oakcliff) in particular you may not like to look of the place or the surrounding area but trust me its worth WHEREVER you coming from. read more

If you are baked potato lover then you are at the right place. This place has the best baked potato EVER. They have the Big HeavyWeight stuffed potato that comes with chopped beef, hot links, beans, chives, sour cream, and shredded cheese. You will need two hands to hold it because it lives up to it's name. Haven't found any other place to top it. Be prepared for a long line if you go during lunch time but worth it. If you prefer not to wait in long line then a good time is after 2pm. Have been several times and will be going back again as soon as tomorrow, Friday. Good eating. read more

Koolys BBQ is some tasty stuff if you like potatoes with cheese and hotdogs put on top. I love the sauce that is supposedly secret.... but we all know it is just mayo mustard and horseradish. A solid 3 star read more
