I was visiting my brother and his wife in Dallas. My brother told me I had to try TD's that it was the best BBQ he has had since living in Dallas. I'll start by saying that the place was friendly and welcoming. To be transparent, it was not the cleanest place, but it's the type of place that I'd like to visit to try out some BBQ! I ordered the rib plate with a side of potato salad, baked beans, corn bread, and a slice of pound cake. My fiancé ordered a rib sandwich, small baked beans, and a slice of strawberry cake with white icing. The ribs were very tender and the BBQ sauce was simply immaculate. There were a good number of ribs, but they were small and not as meaty as I would've wanted them to be. The potato salad was ok - the mustard was a bit strong. But those (vegetarian) baked beans were finger lickn' good. I'd highly recommend giving them a try. The cornbread was a bit dry, unfortunately. We enjoyed our cakes. The pound cake was the better choice out of the two. The strawberry cake had a "Captain Crunch" after taste that made us think it was more of a box cake than homemade. Overall, give this place a try and test it out for yourselves. My friend ordered the brisket sandwich and enjoyed it. His only grip was that he wish he would've asked for extra meat. read more

The only reason I gave this restaurant a 2 is because of the customer service some of them had attitudes, specifically, one of the male workers that worked there. I came to get 3 baked potatoes and in purchasing those 3 baked potatoes. He asked me, what type of meat did I want on them? One of them I rushed because I felt like he was rushing me. He even did the hand gesture of rushing like come on, the food is good. I always get baked potatoes, but I don't know if I'm going to continue coming here because of the customer service, sir. With all due respect, you need to learn how to be polite to your customers. And I can describe him, there's 2 men, there one has long hair and a little small stature. And one does not, I think he has like a tape of fade or something. And he's a little heavy set. The heavyset guy is the rude one. You need to learn some manners and learn how to talk to his customers. You shouldn't have to rush your customers. No one was there, but me and another person. I have been a fan for years because of the good food an warm vibe. Went into this establishment over the weekend and the staff was unprofessional as hell. I assume the former crew has all retired and now its been run by young people that have no clue on how to treat customers or how to speak to them. Truly disappointing and will NOT be going back. I finally got to try this place out last night after hearing about it for a year from my husband. (He's born and raised here in Dallas and I just moved here from LA a year and a half ago.) It is definitely a hole in the wall restaurant. When we entered it smelled of smoke and I could already tell that I was going to like this place. My husband ordered me a baked potato. Now let me tell you... this ain't a normal baked potato. They prepare a fully loaded baked potato. bacon bits and all. then they top it with chopped beef bbq and some of that delicious sauce. oh and the sauce, you have to get half mild and half hot. i have to tell you, this baked potatoe changed my life!! hahah.... as for drinks, i had me some of that kool-aid. they had strawberry and they make it super sweet. husband thought it was too sweet but i thought it was just perfect. i definitely recommend this joint! i need to go again soon.... i can't stop thinking about it! :))) read more

When I first walked in this little hole in the wall, the smell of smoke hit me like an uppercut. I knew I was in for something authentic and scrumptious. And---- I was right. It was everything I was hoping for. There are a lot of people pushing fake and often undercooked barbecue out there; more than the authentic joints if I had to guess. This place is AUTHENTIC. This man deserves a Michelin star for the greatest food I've ever tasted ! My fiancé had raved about this place when he first visited Texas ( we're from California ) and I can absolutely see why . Pros - Menu Choice - Menu Price Cons - Location - Taste While searching the infinite knowledge of Facebook I happened to come across a video of this location. It showed the most delicious looking baked potato combo, fresh with parsley, melted butter, cheese, the whole nine yards. So as a yelper, I decided I would dry by on my off time, and when I went here, my expectations weren't quite met. I by no means find pleasure in bringing down businesses or challenging the opinions of others, but this location is mediocre for me at best. The positives were the menu choices, in comparison to most barbecue places, they offer the exact same options. This is no Pecan Lodge, but it does have the basics of any decent barbecue location. The prices were also decent, nothing extravagant, however it kinds matches the taste of the food that they provide for customers. If you're hungry and just want something to survive I would say go for it. If you're comparing the barbecue to another location it might miss you mark. The taste just simply was not there for me and I believe that was the deal killer for myself. The location was also tough for me, it sits on the front street next to a DART train station. Literally if you drive past it, you have to fight around the track, back up the other side of the busy Oak Cliff street, and then U - Turn to try again. The people here are nice and it seems to be a local family business, I support them, however, I'm just not a fan of their flavors and blends on their barbecue recipes, go check them out! read more

So we really enjoyed this spot. We didn't eat there we took it to go. There are a few tables there but we prefer to eat at the house. Now onto the food! The food was delicious the meats were tender. We ate links and ribs both delicious. The sauce is a bit on the vinegary side and I prefer mine more of a sweet heat. The mac & cheese was OK. I prefer mine with cheese throughout versus just being a layered. But overall if you're in the neighborhood it's a cool little spot to get something to eat and have leftovers. The banana pudding was delicious. For me the peach cobbler was just OK. It really is about a delicious flaky crust. But if you're looking for some authentic barbecue made by some awsome people this is the spot! The portions Are ridiculous but then again the portions are ridiculous anywhere you go. Earlier this week I ordered their chopped beef sandwich late at night, that was mistake number one. As I entered the building I noticed that the workers we're not behind the counter but intermingling with customers and loiterers in questionable activity. The young man that helped me behind the counter he proceeded to build my chopped beef sandwich in front of me and I noticed that the barbecue sauce pot that he dipped out of look like it had a layer of sludge on the top. I should have left but instead decided to try it out that was mistake number two overnight I became very ill and the next day I have the worst case of food poisoning including throwing up and black stool. please take caution and do not eat at this establishment. read more

TD's has always been the place to go for great barbecue. We went there yesterday and ordered 2 rib dinners. When we arrived home and opened the containers we were extremely disappointed. One dinner contained four, fatty rib tips and the other dinner contained 3 ribs that had been cut in half to give the appearance of more food. The sides were delicious, as usual; but the meat portions were very skimpy and not what I have come to expect from TD's. I guess that I will have to find a new place for barbecue read more

Whenever Kooley's BBQ place is closed I find myself searching for their temporary replacement. Today I tried TD's and I must say, it wasn't too bad. The potato is big, the meat is tender, and has a good barbecue flavor. The potato comes with the usual Oak Cliff toppings, (bacon, bitter, choices, sour cream, etc.,), but I didn't get any for personal reasons. They drowned it in barbecue sauce, which is okay as long as you doubt tilt the bag. The sauce could be ordered mild or hot, and I got a mixture. It was fine. I definitely prefer this place over their competition down the street whose name is not worth mentioning, and they had many other favorites on their menu. Had the baked potato and a half pound of ribs. Pretty tasty stuff. The baked potato came fully loaded with bbq chopped beef. My mom had chopped sausage on hers. They were large and the flavors combined very well. All in all, everything was well seasoned, but not over-sauced. I will definitely re-visit TD's. read more
