    Brisket Sandwich
    Yvette G.

I tried this place for the first time the other day and it was absolutely delicious! I was looking for a good brisket sandwich and I found one! It was a nice restaurant seemed very clean the staff was friendly and the prices were low for high quality food. I would definitely recommend this place

Very dry brisket, I could hear a stovetop cooking probably was the brisket. $8.00 for a sandwhich. I work over here a lot. So I decided to try it out but very disappointed. I would not recommend at all

    It's 1:00pm on Monday, April 25.

I've never had the food. Everytime I pass by during business hours they are closed. Bad business.

The ribs are fall off the bone tasty!! Service was great, we will definitely be back!

Ray's BBQ has excellent food with good hours.

They have superior customer service and they have a mean pecan pie. Ooooo weee! Ain't nothing like good customer service, good food and good people. Ray's BBQ has the full enchilada! The artwork screams hometown pride and spiritual solidity. The energy in the building is awesome and Ray is a really cool guy who takes great care of every customer. My hard earned pennies only go where my friends and family get treated with respect. We will definitely be returning.

Arriving in I first noticed the art work and the family friendly atmosphere, I personally got the pulled pork sandwich and was not disappointed. The sandwich was large and filled be up, but the sauce was the real star of the show. Overall a great experience and would come back again.

Literally the best place in Dallas to get BBQ!! Their customer service is one of a kind. Nothing but great people and great food.

After seeing one come out of the kitchen, I quickly realized it was massive and way more food than I wanted, so I switched to the one-meat, two-side plate with brisket, greens, and potato salad. The first thing that stood out was the customer service. The young lady at the register was absolutely wonderful--friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely professional. She made ordering easy and set a great tone for the entire visit. Top-tier customer service is becoming rare, and she definitely deserves recognition. As for the food, the brisket was good, and overall the meal was enjoyable. For my personal taste, everything was a bit over-seasoned, especially the greens, which had a strong liquid smoke flavor. That said, I should also mention that I haven't eaten heavily seasoned Southern-style food in quite a while, so my palate is much more sensitive than it used to be. Someone who loves bold, smoky flavors may enjoy it much more than I did. One thing I absolutely loved was discovering that this is actually two businesses sharing one space with Soul Pizza Kitchen. I think that's a beautiful example of collaboration, community, and entrepreneurship. The pizza menu looked incredibly creative, and I'll definitely come back to try one of those soul-inspired pizzas. I always enjoy supporting Black-owned businesses, and it's even more inspiring to see two businesses thriving together under one roof. Wishing both continued success and prosperity.

As soon as I walked in, who I believe was the owner greeted me and was one of the kindest, most welcoming people I've met. He took the time to walk me through the menu and answer my questions, which I really appreciated. I ended up ordering one of their loaded potatoes with pulled pork and beef, and it was incredible (you get a good amount of meat) honestly this potato was big enough for two people to share. I also tried the mac and cheese and green beans soooo good! I didn't finish most of it, but only because I had to get back to work I knew if I ate the whole thing, I wouldn't get anything done after! That's how filling it was. The atmosphere was great too. Plenty of seating, multiple TVs playing NCAA games very welcoming vibe. There was a steady flow of takeout orders I can imagine this place gets pretty busy on weekends. As someone from Los Angeles, it was really refreshing to experience such genuine hospitality. You don't always get that level of care and patience when ordering back home. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to Dallas so I can come back and try more of the menu.

There's a huge yard out back with plenty of picnic tables, which makes it perfect for hanging out when the weather's nice. Inside, the space is small, comfy, and neat. It feels well put together without trying too hard. There's even a fireplace that adds a nice touch--no idea if it's actually working, but it fits the vibe. The staff here really stands out. Super friendly, very polite, and they keep things simple--you order at the corner, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Easy and efficient. I went with the brisket taco, and it delivers. This isn't a tiny street taco--it's loaded. You get brisket, salsa negra, avocado crema, and pickled onions. The balance works really well. The salsa brings some acidity to cut through the fat, while the crema smooths everything out. Every bite comes together nicely. As for the brisket itself, the seasoning is solid but not overly aggressive. Personally, I'd like a bit more bark--it was a little thin for my taste. That said, the smoke ring is very prominent, and you can taste that deeper smoke flavor. Texture-wise, it was very tender--easily cut with a plastic fork. I did catch it later in the afternoon, and the lean slices were just a bit on the dry side for me. Overall, the vibe here is awesome and the tacos are legit. This is a spot I'll definitely be coming back to--looking forward to giving the brisket another shot, plus trying the pork ribs and some sides.

Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if it cracks the Top 10 next time around. This place is exactly what you want in a serious BBQ joint. Small. No frills. Tucked off I-35 in Oak Cliff. A handful of tables inside, a few more outside, and zero wasted energy on anything that doesn't involve the food. That's usually a good sign... and it was. I went all in with the Texas Trinity Plate. Brisket, pork ribs, jalapeño sausage. No regrets. The brisket was the star. Deep, dark bark with a heavy pepper kick that hit right away. Perfect smoke ring. Tender without falling apart. Juicy without being greasy. Every bite had that rich, smoky flavor that separates good BBQ from the real deal. The ribs were solid. Great flavor, nice bite, but leaned a little heavy on the smoke for me. Not a deal breaker, just noticeable. Still very good and worth ordering. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was a win. Juicy, packed with flavor, and just enough heat to keep things interesting without overpowering everything else. Then the surprise... the sweet potato casserole. That thing deserves its own review. Rich, slightly sweet, and those candied pecans on top took it to another level. Not an afterthought side, this was legit. Bottom line... Smokey Joe's is the kind of place BBQ people talk about when they say "you've gotta try this spot." It absolutely holds its own among the best in Texas, especially outside that elite Top 10 tier. If you're serious about BBQ, don't overthink it. Go.
