OEB is SUPER BUSY! I recommend everyone to use Yelp or NOWAIT app to get in line. I think today the Yelp app did not work, if in doubt do both! That being said, even if the app says be there at X:XX time, and when you get there you will prob. have to wait for another 15-20 min. The wait is long but the food is worth the wait, ordered the upstream benny, duck confit, griddle cake, and a side of double fry potato wedge. We tried their match latte and orange juice. The smoke salmon on the upstream with the egg combo was amazing! Duck confit with the pirogies is very unique and is very savoury. The buttermilk griddle cake with maple syrup was good but was nothing special. If you love fries you must get the double fried potato wedges, very crispy and have a pretty good spice to it. Heard they are opening up two locations in Edmonton. Look forward to try it in Edmonton. read more

This is the worst restaurant in Calgary. Lady servers doesn't smile and are grumpy. The lady manager is worst. When we asked for a coffee refill she asked " how about the bill?" In straight face. When we paid the bill , she just tossed the receipt to my hubby and didn't even said thank you. Worst customer service we've ever had in Calgary. We regret giving tip. No idea how I haven't reviewed OEB in Mission yet. Every time my mom comes to visit me in Calgary she makes sure that we visit OEB at least once. On this particular occasion I ordered the Gold Digga, my mom ordered the French Toast Trifle, and my girlfriend ordered the Do Not Even Go There Crepe. I'm always going to go savory for brunch and the Gold Digga has to be in my top 3 favorite brunch dishes. I know I should try some other things on the menu but it's just so hard to not order that dish. Both the sweet dishes were amazing though. The Crepe felt a little bit better for you than the French Toast Trifle because it was absolutely loaded with berries. The French Toast Trifle was ridiculously good though, the Meyer lemon curd that came with the dish really put it over the Top. I've been to OEB on several occasions and everything that I have ordered has been deserving of five stars with the exception of the Wild Boar Spalla. Myself and the other diners I was with at the time just found it bland and dry. That is literally the only thing I've tried on the menu that has been below average though. So I'd say if you haven't tried OEB it should definitely be on your go-to list. read more

This is what we want out of OEB! We have visited one in Vancouver and 2 in Calgary. This Mission one is absolutely fantastic. The toast was crispy under the perfect eggs and amazing sauce. Everything was absolutely perfect. The service was on point, just the right amount of available without being overbearing. The food came out super quick but was also really fresh (how?!) I want to love it but I just can't recommend a place that charges $7 for potatoes on top of a $20 vegetarian omelette... oh, and the omelette had so few cheese curds inside it was laughable. You could literally count the cut lumps of cheese curds. I feel like I'm going insane.... There are always lineups and the long line of punters seem to have no problem handing over $70-75 for 2 people to go to breakfast. It's bonkers! I was really excited to try this restaurant after seeing the great reviews. I was coming with two young kids, so I emailed for a reservation (as they tell you to do on their website) two days prior, and I never heard back. I figured it's a Monday so it should be fine, went and waited for 30 minutes while others that came in after us were seated due to the yelp app. Once seated our server got us coffee then was MIA for a solid 15 mins. She was clearly too busy and not able to handle the size of section she had. The food was good. I had the braised beef poutine. I wouldn't order it again, not nearly as much cheese as I'd expect with a poutine. Overall, a pretty disappointing experience. read more

Great service, great food. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars it's because they were out of two duck dishes my party ordered, it was still during brunch hours and on a weekday. Have you ever had a menu that confused you like Biggs Bunny and Daffy Duck ? Made me feel like Elmer Fudd .. Rabbit season ! No Duck Season ! No Rabbit season ! Went on a weekday at about 10:30am and got seated right away. The room is quirky modern farmhouse and the atmosphere was pretty fun. Right away I noticed that the coffee mugs are very large, as are portion sizes. I really wanted to try one of the breakfast bowls (aka breakfast poutine). We decided to split the day's special, which was short rib with peppers, onions, mushrooms on top of the usual fried potato base with poached egg, cheese curds, and hollandaise - and a handful of sprouts to garnish. It also seemed like a good idea to balance things out by opting for the half-potato/half-spinach option for the base! We thought it was really delicious and well executed- highly recommend adding spinach to the potatoes because the bites of spinach, potato, cheese & sauce were bizarrely perfect. Next time, i'd be tempted to get an entire bowl to myself because it was so good, but the benefit of splitting one was that we still had a good portion size and also did not need to be rolled around the city for the rest of the day! read more

Very lovely decor, and the service was wonderful. I've gone twice, and the food was fairly consistent. I got the regular breakfast plate and the eggs are definitely delicious. The second time around I got one of their breakfast poutines, and personally I was nauseated by how rich it was. So, I woukdnt personally recommend the lobster breakfast poutine, but would definitely suggest you try it out. That being said - aim for a weekday. What the flip is up yelpers! Went here for breakfast and it was great. Menu was fresh, had their classics which were phenomenal. One suggestion is maybe try spicing up the menu a bit OEB! Work with a local bakery for your buns, maybe try something a lil different that will encourage customers to come back to try something new each time! Overall it was very delicious food though. We live in the area so come for a nice breakfast now and again. Very busy so plan your arrival based on the wait time chart in Yelp. Staff is friendly most of the time. Had the Canadian Eh! Beni. Sad to say I was a little disappointed. The pouched eggs were just a ball around the yolk. Any experienced cook knows to add a little vinegar to the water to keep all the white of the egg together with the yolk. The back bacon on the croissant was cold which made the whole beni unit cold. Came with a mixture of fruit on a side plate which was nice and refreshing. Had to ask for more coffee so not on top of that. Overall I give a medium rating as there is more potential here than what is delivered. read more

We asked for a table of five, put our name down and were told to come back 20 - 30 minutes later, came back and were told that wait would be another 15 - 20 minutes, came back 3rd time, table not ready, everybody was getting pretty "hangry", when I asked to be told specifically how much longer wait would be as we would otherwise go somewhere else the lady at the entrance was still not sure how much longer our wait would be and said "we can't kick people off their tables", totally unprofessional response, as a customer you want to get service and after over one hour of waiting that type of response is just plain rude! If a restaurant can't manage their number of guests waiting don't accept reservations rather than annoying potential guests, we will warn all of our friends about the unpredictability of wait times! read more

Ah but as these breakfast places open new branches, so too their fare seems to drop into mainstream mediocrity! You know, readers, I really want to give these places 4 stars or more, because I greatly appreciate a super breaky, but now it's impossible: I've experienced this with Dairy Lane's new Blue Star, and others have with Red's new 10th Street venue, and now my experience at the newest Calgary OEB. Bleh... It's located where Bocce in Mission used to be, and after ordering the plain bacon and egg breakfast, the 'test' results are in... 1. the ordered 'basted' eggs were 'over-easy' and instead were pasted together. Maybe the kitchen mis-read 'basted?' Although ugly to look at - presentation? - at least the free run eggs were pleasant enough and the yolks weren't broken. But what I got is more typical of a sloppy truckstop diner! 2. the 'double-smoked' bacon was just barely smoke-flavoured, and was quite fatty (the ham?). 3. the pile of herb-sprinkled wedge-fried potatoes that took up most of the plate were quite tasteless and as unimaginative as can be. 4. there was only one (1) piece of rye toast! Hmmm... maybe there's a flour-mill strike at Estevan and the bakery oven broke down! The place was filled with mostly upper-middle class folx who literally filled the large space. At that rate, OEB can't lose, financially. As well, the waitress - can I still say that? - smilingly proclaimed that they've even opened up in Edmonton. Perhaps quality dilution? Alas, the funky ambience and better brekky of the original Edmonton Trail diner is completely gone at this site! A strong suggestion? For those of us who want laidback funk, cross the street to The Purple Perk!! * The breakfast is much better. * The service less artificially warm. * The pies are homey and filled with fruit. * Their sandwichs are fat and fiesty. * Their mix of coffee drinks is better. * And you get two (2) thick slices of delicious toast with your eggs! I have a dairy allergy. I let the sever know and ordered the Classic Breakfast with the potatoes. There was pesto on the potatoes and I had an allergic reaction. When I asked the server if there was cheese in the pesto she was unsure and the manager came over. She said there was no cheese in the pesto but I was having an allergic reaction so I knew that she was lying. I was charged for my meal even though I was unable to eat it. If you have food allergies avoid this place! You will be gaslit and forced to pay for food that you are unable to eat! read more

I'm honestly extremely disappointed in our experience today. While the food was good, hot and the service decent the hostess and wait list management was horrendous, I've never seen any restaurant manage volume so poorly. I started at 830am requesting to be notified when I could put our party of 4 on the wait list for a 10am seating. At 944 I received a text and 954 I put us on the wait list which stated we were 29th in line and the wait was 30-40 minutes (perfect for us as our party was running behind). At 1030 the wait list stated we were 7th in line but shortly after this our wait list spot was deleted by the restaurant. After many inquires on where we were always 4th (yes for a whole hour we were 4th in line) we were sat at 1130. I'm sorry to say our party of four and their families will not be frequenting this unreliable location in the future. read more

I have a lot of love for OEB - they seem to have figured out the breakfast world... but had a subpar experience last week at this location. Server messed our food up and didn't really seem to care- or fix or offer any solution. Not looking for a free meal by any means. But when you are paying $18-$22 for breakfast I expect it to be on point and OEB is know for consistency. Asked for my hollandaise sauce on the side and it comes drenched in sauce and the Benny came on a croissant... never had that at OEB before- maybe it's a new thing but I didn't like it as it was dry and flaky. If it was soft and im going to say it... MOIST it would be enjoyable. My partner asked for waffle fires instead of potato, he forgot to add that in. We mentioned it as the food came but the food runner just said "I'll go ask". Server came back and said "hey sorry about that, sometimes it defaults to potatoes.... next time I'll get it right." I mentioned, "I asked for the sauce on the side and he kinda just looked at it and said "another thing I'll get right" anyways, we still enjoyed it. Probably just stick to the other locations but... Let's start off with the positives: the food here is amazing. It's good quality and to die for. There is pretty much no wait for the food, time it when you go. From time of ordering to service, it was 7 minutes till I had my meal. Sure it's only eggs but the food arrived before the juice did. Always a good thing when you're hungry, which you likely will be because you've been waiting 2 hours to get in. Everything else is basically a negative: They do use the Nowait app which can be handy for getting in line while you're still at home. I've used it on a not so busy day and the wait was 30 mins, I was texted in 15 that my table was ready. I sure wasn't as I was still at home. On a busy weekend, during brunch hours, I've been told an hour and showed up exactly an hour in but it was still another 30 min wait. There is absolutely NO seating area (or standing) when you show up for your reservation. The doorway is jammed and the servers are frantically trying to get through. The hostess will snap at you to get out of the way as you're blocking the menu/coffee/pay station but that is because there is no where else to go. This is a huge problem when the weather isn't nice outside because everyone is pushing in to stay warm. Also sucks for those sitting near the doorway, hope you like strangers rubbing up against you. The service is not good. Not because the servers are bad but this company is trying to jam as many customers in as humanly possible and the servers are literally run ragged. I completely understand why they are impatient and forgetful but I'm also not here to be treated poorly. They need to hire more staff for the weekend shifts. Overall the food is great but the atmosphere feels like you're in a Denny's right after church service has ended. No thanks OEB, I'd rather have a relaxed brunch somewhere else than being jammed into tables so small I feel like cattle being herded to the feedlot. read more

Oeb is my favourite new restaurant in Calgary - Perfection. The service was great, friendly and efficient.. The Eggs Benedict Florentine was the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had - so delicious. The grapefruit juice was dicious too. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality. There is free one hour parking available, underground. What a great place to accidentally find! I was looking for another breakfast spot with no luck, and OEB was packed. So, I figured there must be a reason. First, the coffee is good. I don't know what kind of blend or roast, I just know it tasted like good Coffee. I ordered the classic breakfast, free range eggs, potatoes fried in duck fat, and rosemary ham. Artisanal toast. My waiter suggested I try the hollandaise sauce, and put some on the side. The food came out fast, and was hot. Tasted good, I had never had rosemary ham, it was a subtle flavor, the eggs were perfect, and the fries were a perfect texture. Great experience. read more

Managed to catch it on a less busy day so not having to wait an hour for a table was great! The menu is a little more exotic than the typical breakfast place so it is a welcome change. My only complaint is the coffee is much less tasty than I recall. Maybe an off day or maybe they changed from the Italian coffee they used to use. That, and the waitress had the annoying habit of coming by and quickly refilling the coffee before she could be stopped. Throws off the sugar and cream to coffee ratio!
