I think Oddfellows does a good job capturing the spirit of Capitol Hill, Seattle. Great atmosphere paired with simple food. When friends are visiting from out of town, Oddfellows is definitely one of my go-to options for places dine because it gives my out of town friends a taste of what Seattle is like. It really shines in the summertime when the front area is open and you're getting that nice evening breeze. It's a great way to end a summer night. Their menu is relatively small, which makes my choices a lot easier to make. They offer a wide variety of meat dishes (from lamb to pork) that rotate depending on the month. Lastly, this place is very close to dessert options (Molly Moons, Yogurtland, and Cupcake Royale) and Cal Anderson Park. We love this place! read more

Went here for the first time after the last day of classes (Pastry student at SCCC) with a large group of classmates and friends. I loved the feel of the place - weird photographs everywhere, flowers, distressed paint, chalkboards - very hip. I ordered the Caprese sandwich, which came on a baguette so hard my teeth hurt after trying to eat it. I ended up scraping the inside out onto my plate and eating the cheese and tomatoes with the fairly wilted salad it came with, and used my friend's jus to soften the bread...so far underwhelmed. Also, when I ordered mimosas with my friends, they failed to mention the carafe as a more affordable option, despite the fact that the other members of our group had JUST ordered one. I was peeved about that, so I made them adjust the price for us. The staff was a mixed bag - some reaaalllllyyy bitchy Capitol Hill usuals (ratty hair, tattoos all over, smug and rude) and some very accommodating, nice individuals. I'm definitely not dying to go back, but I won't rule it out. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed my service and food. Their skillets are so delicious and the perfect size for an individual! All the servers are kind and happy to answer menu questions. The biscuits and jam are incredible - the best I've ever had! They have creative drinks, like rosemary lemonade. Plus, the cafe itself is so cute and comfortable, which creates a fun and warm atmosphere! It does get busy sometimes for brunch, so put your name down and go next door to Little Oddfellows, a coffee shop in the Elliot Bay Book Company to grab a coffee while you wait! read more

I've only been here for breakfast, but am hoping to get up here for lunch and/or dinner and drinks too. Oddfellows is in a good central location on Capitol Hill and the interior is just as hip as all the kids in the neighborhood. For breakfast I had a baked egg and ham dish with cheese and spinach in a cast iron dish. The eggs were perfect and not overdone. The coffee was plentiful and not burnt. I also got a side of toast, and with their strawberry jam combined with the butter, the toast tasted like a strawberry shortcake. It is kind of annoying that if you want to order something after you've already ordered and sat down you will have to get in line again. I'll get over it though. I look forward to coming back here! read more

This place rocks. The prices are low enough, the food is high quality, and the staff is quite friendly and pleasant. All of these things are VERY important to me. I've been here twice now, first time I had the caprese baguette, and my man got the baked eggs. Both were really yummy. Large enough portions to share and still be full (we shared both). I saw someone who got the chicken salad sandwich and damn - that bitch was HUGE! The sandwich, that is, not the person ordering it. The second time I went, this morning for my FIRST brunch (tee hee, so I had two brunches! Who cares!) The place was packed, line out the door, but that's cuz a gang of us had just come from the FLOW Equity Yoga event in Cal Anderson Park and there was a plug for Odd Fellows which sent us all running with our happy Odd Fellows food memories on. So, they got us through quick, this time my friend and I shared the beet salad and the lox. Neither had enough I would say to truly share. The lox and salad would maybe have filled me if I got both. The good news - the prices were $9 for lox which comes with a small pile of lox, 3 thick slices of bread (about 1.5 pieces given an artisan bread roll), some beets (little chunks), and some creme fraiche. The salad was $8 but I added chicken (thank God). The salad had beet chunks, hazelnuts (about 12), and chevre (goat cheese) which there was certainly not enough of, and greens. Both were yummy, but again, these probably could have been larger. I also got OJ, and my friend got a carrot and OJ. They were good, and priced fairly. Shocking and refreshing! The staff was friendly as heck, brought us water and a bottle for refills so we could serve it ourselves. I liked best that the water was sans ice. Who needs to use their digestive energy on heating water to body temp instead of digesting food? :) Good job Odd Fellas! See you again soon. Next time, for CUPCAKES. read more

Any restaurant that harkens back to the old simpler days sets the mood for me just right. There's something about the simplicity of space, food and service at Oddfellows that made me feel a little odd -- I tried their breakfast, lunch and dinner. WHY GO THERE? Back-to-basic American dining in a nostalgic space that's a character on its own. High ceiling, weathered tables and benches, faded flag and old portraits, period pieces and lighting -- all makes me want to be a film location scout while enjoying the free-range rotisserie chicken. Breakfast to dinner, the food is great tasting without going the Cracker Barrel route. WHATCHA GOT? For breakfast, they do homemade oatmeal right. Add fruit for a dollar. A pulled pork sandwich is filling for lunch. I had second thoughts about ordering free range chicken. Come on, a chicken that actually saw the light and clucked outside a dark, disease-infested, stinky coop! How odd can that taste? The rotisserie chicken is moist and tender! Don't forget the scones and cookies. YOU GOT SERVED. The service is friendly. Water comes to your table as soon as you sat on the bench. I love that soy and brown sugar cubes are available for coffee in the condiments corner. Oddfellows, I swear my allegiance when I have an urge for the basics. read more

Oddfellows had been our new Go-To breakfast joint in Seattle the past several months. We used to make our weekend trips into Seattle from Issaquah and go to Lola's, but Oddfellows sense of creativeness and overall aura has kept drawing us back. The staff is your typical Capital Hill staff, except much nicer than most other restaurants. We go for breakfast on Sundays - the wait can sometimes be a little longer, but this just goes to show it's good. Their porchetta sandwich is good - lacks a little flavor but the overall presentation is great and moist meat! The breakfast panini is about the same - a good sandwich and fulfilling but needs a hint of something to make it really good, maybe some pesto or something, not too sure. Our last visit - their daily special was a Croque Madame, and it was good. Like really really good. I'm sad they don't have it as their menu item. Always get a biscut with the jam - yum. During summer, they have the outdoor seating too which is nice to grab a drink and people watch. Their flatbreads are good and they have good fries as well for a little snack. Before you leave, always get an Oddfellow's cookie to go. You don't regret it! Two thumbs up for this place and all at a very reasonable price! read more

It's times like these I wish, yet again, that I could give ratings with half stars. A 3 seems so low, but a 4 seems a bit too high - 3.5 would be perfect. I'd been looking forward to trying Oddfellows and just hadn't gotten around to it yet. I finally made it over this weekend. I love the space and the atmosphere in general; it was absolutely packed so I know others are with me on that. The food was okay. Yes, just okay. Certainly not bad, but not amazing, either. After pouring over the slightly-disorganized-looking menu for awhile, I decided on the mac & cheese (only $6!) and the beet and pear salad. Graham got the fig and ricotta brioche and the pork nuggets, while Boris had a salad involving chicken and cheese and some other things. The mac & cheese was kind of plain - again, not BAD, just not very exciting - especially compared with what I'm used to from Smith. My beet salad was okay, but I think I may need to come to terms with the fact that I might just not be the biggest fan of beets. The brioche in Graham's dish could've been better, but the fig and cheese were good. I'm not a big pork-eater but I thought that the pork nuggets were rather good. It's a fun place with a great ambience, but I've had better food, including at the owners' other establishments. I'm interested to come back to Oddfellows for breakfast/coffee/etc, though, and see what that's like. And I would definitely come back again just to hang out and drink a few (tasty) beers. read more

Came to Oddfellow's Cafe for a business meeting and was glad we were able to sit in the outdoor area in the back. It is much more quiet here and we were able to have a productive conversation without any problems. I jokingly said to the person that I was meeting for lunch that we might not be 'cool' enough for Oddfellows based on the fact that the majority of the lunch crowd appeared to be hipster 20 somethings taking a break between yoga and world domination. However, we enjoyed great service and very good food, so while we were both in our 40's and wearing clothes your aunt Sally and Uncle Dave might wear on a Saturday afternoon, we felt comfortable enough. I had a turkey, cheese and avocado sandwich that was served with fresh greens and a tasty house brewed iced tea. My lunch companion had a French dip served on a lovely fresh baguette, also with a side of salad, and additionally ordered French onion soup (see a theme here?). He ate everything on his plate so two points for not wasting food and I would assume two thumbs up for the quality. We ended our meal Seattle style (i.e., with a cup of coffee). Neat place was a young vibe and also appears to have a full bar so it could be a great option for dinner too. read more

I really live the ambience in this place. The staff was very friendly and patient. The music was eclectic as well which is always a plus. I had a drink that was recommended by the bartendar and it was amazing I drank 3 of them! Unfortunately I don't remember the name. Check this place out if you're on Cap Hill. You won't be disappointed! read more

"Meh. I've experienced better." Thanks Yelp, you managed to describe my experiences here pretty well, but lets take another stab at it. How about something like this... "Meh, I've experienced better, cheaper, faster, & more" I mean don't get me wrong, this place is sweet digs, but gets old when you want a good solid meal. I wanna love a place like this, but I can't when the service is that slow and my eggs benedict can't fill me up more than two Twinkies soaked in water. I don't roll with "cute" food portions, I want piles for breakfast. Maybe I'll try it again after it's 6 month probation period. read more

Oddfellows - Boozy Hot Cocoa and French Toast - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I am conflicted by the fact this place has good food because the service is absolutely terrible. I have given them more than one opportunity to redeem themselves but time after time they consistently provide the worst service in the industry. Because its owned by Linda's? Maybe, these establishments are notorious for not having the friendliest service and somehow still manage to remain popular spots. I don't care, I have gotten up and walked out of Odd Fellows after being ignored at the bar for 20 minutes. Not because it was busy. Not because I ordered a Mojito or a Cosmo? Clearly I am not hipster enough for this place so I shall be ignored. And so shall you if you leave your skinny jeans and dark rimmed glasses at home. There are plenty of other mediocre options in the same 1 block radius which will have sub par standards of service that will still far exceed the service here. read more

It took us 10 minutes to realize that we wanted to go somewhere else... Coincidentally, it also took the server 10 minutes to acknowledge we were even there. She arrived just in time for us to say "no thanks, we're going somewhere else". Totally fucked that this would happen on a Tuesday at 3 pm with all of... 6(?) people on there. read more

Long overdue review... When we came here over the summer, my boyfriend and I had the BEST waiter. He wrote down a bunch of recommendations for us, and many of the places he recommended turned out to be amazing spots in Seattle that we would've missed otherwise. Our first meal during our Seattle vacation consisted of this place's excellent brunch selections, plus their cocktails, which were good, but not so good that we felt guilty drinking before 1pm. I got a porchetta sandwich and pretty much decided that Seattle was a fine place to go. I'm not sure why there are so many neutral-bad reviews, because our experience was above A-Ok. I will say that a lot of that had to do with the waiter. He had dreads at the time, don't know his name anymore, but he deserves a raise. As tourists, we'd heard that Cap Hill was the "hip" spot (someone described it to us New Yorkers as being kind of like Williamsburg but more 90s), and we could definitely see it. Over the course of the week, the vibe of this cool neighborhood became more apparent, and Oddfellows represents it fairly well, in my out-of-towner opinion. The layout of the place seemed pretty typical Seattle (given my limited experience with the city, and most of the places we ate being in the area), as there was a lot of kitschy/rustic stuff. The overall vibe was kombucha and mason jars. Normally, that description wouldn't make sense, but I feel like it's the best way to describe most of these cool little cafes in Seattle. I'm glad we stopped in, and if we go back, I'd return for sure. read more

I like that at Oddfellows I didn't feel weird sitting for hours, drinking coffee, bathing in the light of their giant picture windows. Instead, I just talked to the wait staff as they filled my cup, and enjoyed a beet and goat cheese salad when the craving struck. This space is old, warm, and inviting. I wonder who designed the aesthetic; from which abandoned church were their pews (serving as booths) taken, where can you find antique milk bottles, hammered aluminum, and wooden crates? To put it simply, this place has a wonderful feel, and the food certainly isn't bad either. read more

Love the baked eggs (I have it sans ham), coffee is super as is their selection of pastries. Can get busy on Sunday mornings - but the line moves fast and they get folks through the selection/order/consume process at a good clip - but you never feel hurried. Love the ambiance. The staff is super cool. read more

Oddfellows - Lady changing a diaper on a table. Recommend you don't sit that that table... - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I'm done with this place, and Derschang's establishments in general. Disappointing time after time. The service was ok, but cheesy. Each time I ordered I was told that my decision was great no matter who I ordered from. "That's my favorite!" "Oh good choice I LOVE that one."... They are obviously being told to make those exclamations and I don't need to be congratulated on ordering a salad. I ordered the panzanella that states it has mozzarella in it. Panzanella doesn't always have mozzarella but the menu clearly states that this one does. The food runner sets it down for me "great salad" he says. I would have to disagree. it is a disappointing bread dish, mostly croutons, more than a panzanella should have, and hidden under one of the croutons is my one lonesome, small chunk of mozzarella. I realized I paid 8 bucks for a small plate of dry croutons. Cheap. My cocktail was weak and mostly ice as well. Done with it. read more

Overall experience: 3 stars. Food: 3+ stars. Atmosphere: 4+ stars. Service: unpredictable stars. None of the food will win any awards, but it's decent, honest grub at a fair price. The vibe is relaxed. The staff is pleasant, but easily distracted by small shiny objects and by their hipper-than-you friends that show up right after you've ordered your drinks. But eventually, your drinks come and your comfort food emerges and you settle into casual conversation and mindless eating and drinking. The staff doesn't pressure you to order more than you want or make you feel guilty for taking up a table for a couple of hours. If I didn't live within stumbling distance, I'd probably come here no more than once in a blue moon, if that, but since we're in the 'hood, it's a perfectly suitable place for a late night light meal or impromptu gathering with friends. read more

My friends and I come here almost religiously for the happy hour. When it first opened, I will admit that I eschewed this establishment solely for assumptive reasons. I expected the crowd to be neck-deep in hipsters and the prices to be batshit crazy. The crowd is a mixture of all things Seattle, this is a good thing, and did I mention happy hour? The waitstaff here know their shit and are very nice. Be sure to tip them well because they are most definitely workin' it. If you're veg and you're trying to think of places to keep everyone in your group happy, come bring them to Oddfellows on Meatless Mondays. I came here for some breakfast nibbles before a long day of errands. I ordered a hot chocolate, $2.75 for 12oz, and a breakfast biscuit with jam in the middle, $4. The hot chocolate was perfectly chocolatey, and they dropped a homemade marshmallow slice on the top of it. The biscuit was more moist than you expected, which made it extra delicious. The strawberry (raspberry?) jam in the middle was homemade, and there was just a little bit of butter. I bet it would've been delicious if they warmed it up. I've never eaten here for dinner, but I would really like to. The plates I've seen all look delicious. The ambience is also nice, cool for studying outside of the library, but also would be fun to go to on a night out. I will be back! read more

You have to acknowledge that there is something cool about an establishment that can pull itself off as a) a coffee shop, b) a restaurant and c) a bar. Oddfellows does this about as gracefully as you could possibly imagine. At breakfast: -I had probably one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The bread was perfectly toasted, the egg was soft but not runny, and I really found myself just wanting more at the end of it. -You order at the counter, so it's a great casual destination for those potentially awkward payment situations (you know what I'm talking about, giant group or nebulous date) -The floor to ceiling windows let in a ton of that flat Seattle daylight and you feel like you could be in some kind of artsy design space At dinner: -The candlelit atmosphere warms the room while also being contained to your table, so you feel like the restaurant is all yours -The restaurant successfully pulls off some excellent entree type sandwiches (the pulled pork is my favorite) as well as some sophisticated and well-made entrees (duck breast and beet salad) -Service switches to wait-service so you actually feel like you're eating at a sit-down restaurant -Shareable pork tots and special-sauced fries make a great appetizer - but be warned they don't bust out the fryer for these until late afternoon And anytime you come here you can expect a mix of people working on laptops, hanging out, or having lengthy low pressure meals. I mean, what better place for an "I don't quite know what I'm going for" type outing than an "I don't know quite what kind of dining establishment" type place? read more

This is a beautiful space and the coffee and pastries are fine, but every time I've eaten here the food has been either mediocre (and so not worth the price) or downright gross. We ate here with a group today and had the rudest server. Our food took 40 mins and when it arrived it was all cold. I told the server that we didn't want more sauce we just wanted it warmed up and he just walked away and took our credit card. He didn't even offer to fix it. The coffee was also sour. Terrible experience. We won't be back. read more

Ok, I know this should be based solely on the food and service but part of the attraction here is the building itself. I loved the layout & the windows gave it an openness of a little ocean town. Minus, the loud a** noise from outside of course. But it's part of what makes Capitol Hill hip, right? At least that's what all the cool kids say. I had the Turkey & brie w fig jam sandwich- which was perfect, a porter. My friend the baked eggs w ham, cheese & spinach. He said it was good but maybe not enough for a meal. To top it all off we shared a peanut butter & jelly cupcake which was orgasmic...mmmm my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Gotta go! read more

If you're visiting Seattle for the weekend and staying on Cap Hill, Oddfellows is a great place to fuel up on Saturday morning. Oddfellows opens their doors to serve fresh-baked pastries and coffee at 8, though their full menu doesn't kick into gear until 9. If you slip in during that window, its the perfect spot to pre-fuel for a long walk with a jam biscuit and espresso beverage. This is as good as it gets! My fiancée and I had dinner here, on a Sunday night, which is half-off-bottle-of-wine night. We ordered the bottle of Pinto Gris, which had a nice dry, green apple flavor. We decided to start off with the meat and cheese plate, as an appetizer. It was a nice, small plate of dried salami and a hard cheese, but it was a little small for the prize. For our entrees I ordered the Halibut special, which was cooked perfectly. My fiancée ordered the braised short ribs, with lentils. The beef was super tender and the lentils were cooked perfectly. We ended our meal with some americanos, which was made from Stumptown espresso. For dessert, we split the banana walnut bread pudding, which was delivered steaming hot and the server poured hot buttered rum sauce on top. The pudding was not overly sweet and the bananas were caramelized with sugar. The decor is so neat, with all of the old Oddfellow's lodge decorations and the high ceilings and open kitchen. My first visit and I'd say, overall, this was a place to meet a group of people for an event. The appetizers used real cured salami and Italian ham -- almost orgasmic for those who like such things. I also had the Meat Balls for dinner -- cooked just right, just the right size and very responsive to the cheese sauce they were served in. I'd have given it 5 stars.. and while I recognize it was busy from the 7-9pm time frame we are there, I felt though friendly and responsive once we got her attention, she was falling back on the mandatory gratuity of our group size. So, more than one of us in the group, had to try hard to get our servers attention. Secondarily (not so much a negative but something to keep in mind) as it got later it did get louder. The price is really $$$ if you add any booze... Still, it is a great hang out and I look forward to returning. read more
