I'm not sure I'm cool enough to hang out in this part of the city. Well, I know I'm not, but you like to keep a sliver of hope alive to make life worth living. Hey, I'm ok people! Don't think I'm ready to off myself, I just do a lot of inward thinking, and I know my time has passed. I get called "sir," regularly, and I used to get mistaken for someone in my 20's, but that's crept up to 32 in the last year. Shits hard out here for us elders!
With that said, any time I get invited out to Capitol Hill for dinner, or drinks I gotta mentally prepare. Too many beautiful women, young, cool 20 somethings, and dudes who have no business wearing skinny jeans (some squats would help dat flat ass son). I just don't really fit in. The pep talk usually involves that i'm wiser, and richer. Which is totally true, but these kids don't care...I'm still a fossil to them!
There's an Indian saying...and, I'm half Navajo, so I'm allowed to say this kind of shit..."a wise man never wishes to be young again." I hope its a real Indian saying, cause i'd feel foolish if it was some made up meme, quote generated thing. Well, I get what that saying means, but I think we'd all take the fountain of youth over saggy balls. But I digress!
Wellllll, I made my initial venture here on a hot, muggy, Friday night. It was twice as hot inside. The restaurant is a Instagram stylists wet dream. Neutrals, open kitchen, small bar, and open seating. I snapped a pic that I may post, but I don't really give a shit about aesthetics. Well, I mean I do, I just hate the over stylized social media world we live in...is this getting off track? Better yet, has it even been?!
It was ridiculously hot for the first 20 or so minutes until you get acclimated. It reminded me of being in Phoenix where the heat just makes you uncomfortably mad. However, once I got my IPA I was fine. I'm easy like that people. They have a nice cocktail menu, and local beers on tap. I myself don't drink cocktails minus the rare old fashion, but that's cause I'm old school. I'm not one of you millennial kids killing the beer industry, because you'd rather have a spirit ladened, soft, cocktail. If you can't taste the booze, you ain't boozing right. You're welcome.
When its really hot out I don't like to order hot food. So, whats better to eat on a scorching day than deviled eggs with capers (I live dangerously folks)? EXACTLY. NOTHING. Nothing crazy as far as deviled eggs go, but eggs are still eggs aka the best food ever. EVER.
We also ordered the pancetta sandwich, and whole roasted chicken. Both were really good, and thoughtfully made. They accidentally gave me a salad with my sandwich which was a mistake cause I ordered fries. I didn't complain though, it was good as well. The nice server brought over fries about ten minutes later without me having to ask. Bonus! I like to believe my never complain policy finally paid off karmically. Namaste you SOBs.
I hear the brunch is good here, but I may never know. I think there's a rule that people over 40 can only go into Capitol Hill once a month less chance getting "stoned," to death with hacky sacks. And with the athletic field across the street, this is basically sniper alley! September it is!
The food is solid, and the service is even better. For all you "foodies," you're going to like the atmosphere. Take a good pic, and share it, cause you're the ONLY one with a social media food page in Seattle. Sorry, crankiness is a byproduct of life after 40. Salute people! read more
