Okay so first of all I want to stress how amazing the food is here. It takes awhile but it is worth it! We waited about 45 minutes for our meals but I had no RAGRETS once it was delivered. The Parmesan-butter fried egg toast was my favorite thing we ordered. I will literally be thinking of this toast for the rest of my life. The pesto on it was so so good. I never thought I would dream about toast but I know it'll happen. The brioche French toast was pretty good too! I think my expectations were super high because of the reviews. I can't believe I hadn't been here before! Maybe the cutest atmosphere of any place I've ever been in Cap Hill. My friend and I met for a weekday lunch, so I can't attest to any weekend chaos (which I'm sure there is), but our lattes were delicious and toasts were tasty (I am a true sucker for any grainy seedy bread and they did not disappoint). We were lured in by the good smell on the sidewalk. Buyer beware: I was very disappointed with my meal at Oddfellows Cafe. We had the Broccolini as and appetizer. My companion said 'it tastes like I went to the backyard and pulled a weed.' The trout was flavourless and the white beans literally tasted like Heinz straight from the can. My companion had the Gnocchi, and we have all had better Chef Boy RD. Both of our drinks were forgettable. As yes, just a day later I couldn't tell you what we had. A cute little brunch spot in Capitol Hill. I can't say any of the items were super memorable, but they had some solid typical brunch fare. Prices were also very reasonable for the area and I was lucky enough to get seated without waiting on a Saturday morning, so I'm more than happy with my experience here. What a cute brunch place in CapHill. Always wanted to go here but heard about the crazy wait times so skipped. Walked in on a Tuesday afternoon for brunch and we were immediately seated. They do check your ID and covid 19 vaccination cards upon entering so be sure to have a digital or physical copy of your vaccination records on hand. They have a limited menu (which is good) so we ordered the brioche french toast with mascaporne and fruit compote and the baked eggs along with a side of biscuits and jam. For beverages, we ordered the hot chocolate and irish coffee. The brioche french toast with fruit compote was divine! I devoured every bite of this french toast. The baked eggs was amazing too. Biscuits were perfect and all in all we loved our brunch here. Every thing we ordered tasted fresh. The hot chocolate was amazing and the irish coffee was good. It's difficult to get a weekend brunch reservation at Oddfellows because it is so popular, but I managed to get one and was really looking forward to it. Based on the popularity of this restaurant, I had high expectations for the food, but was a bit let down. All of the food was served cold (not just my order) and the eggs were VERY overcooked. The portion sizes were also small for the price. I'm giving this place two stars because despite being cold, the biscuits are pretty good. I love the Americana style flag as you walk in the door, it is actually what brought me to Oddfellows, I saw it on Instagram. I have to admit, it is fairly spendy, BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY. They have the best hummus I have ever had, it was drizzled with a flavorful olive oil. I dipped everything on my plate in it. I also had a mocktail that was yummy. The waitress was amazing and had wonderful recommendations. She really seemed to love the menu (not just know it) that matters to me if the staff eat there. I love to graze on plates that have a sampling of items if I am trying a restaurant for the first time or I ask the staff what are they known for. I also look at every restaurant's Instagram before I go in for visual ideas on where to take a photo based on lighting and possible food interests. I love how the natural light spills into Oddfellows and there wasn't any glare or shadows from their lighting. Makes a difference for people coming in for reviews and experiences. Went to Seattle for the weekend and was surprised how expensive the place is! As an Angeleno, I was definitely not used to the $15 average brunch prices or long waits!! We got to Oddfellows Sunday morning at 9:45 AM and put our name down for four. They call you when your table is ready so I would recommend checking out the bookstore next door (it's really cute and they have a great variety!). We waited for around 20 minutes and got seated inside, which is kind of small and unusually warm. Our waiter came immediately to take our drink order but she was kind of rude and had a bad attitude--the food came quickly though. I ordered the BALT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato) which came with a side of salad. The sandwich was really plain and normal but the salad had a great dressing. I ordered the "chop salad". What an utter disappointment. Whomever is responsible for designing the menu should rreally read up on what a chopped salad is. Here is a good explanation: "The ingredients are chopped and small enough for ultimate eating ease! More importantly, mincing melds flavors together--creating smaller individual ingredients via chopping means you end up with a little bit of everything in each bite. " The one I ordered: huge borlotti beans (horribly oversalted). AND garbanzos - two types of bean does not work - no balance. Stick to the garbanzos. Huge discs of raw carrots. Yuck. Slivers of red onion. Black olives, cubes of Swiss cheese and three whole pickled banana peppers. Overdressed romaine at the bottom. I ordered chicken on it, which tasted fine. A good chopped salad is easy to eat, has a good balance of flavor and is already mixed for you. This was a composed salad with the ingredients separated on the top of the salad. This one was a disaster. The breakfast look good here, but that is not what I ordered. This is not hard, people. This was amateur. I love Oddfellows. It is cozy and lively and I can't wait to eat in their private back patio some day. Their brunch food is amazing but so is their lunch and dinner menus too. On my most recent visit, we went as a large group of girls and I got the steak with a special request for a different side dish, no questions or hesitations were made to accommodate this request. Steak was delicious and I practically licked my plate clean. The fries we shared as a starter were delicious as well and the chocolate torte to finish the meal was rich and awesome. You seat yourself walking in and the food is simple yet good. I had their prosciutto brie on a potato roll. It came with a salad, the dressing tasted fruity and the sandwich was tasty but could've been larger. I think the best part of this place is their drink program. Shockingly (and I suspect intentionally) bad service this evening. I had some work to do on my laptop and was hungry. I was seated with about 10 minutes left of happy hour. It was a happy accident but naturally I wanted to utilize it. Waited a bit for the server to arrive, though I was right next to the host stand and heard the host tell her that she had 2 new tables and gesture to me right after I sat. The server also lingered, casually chatting with the host a mere 10 feet from me before coming over. No big deal, I didn't feel I waited too long. However I asked to order from the happy hour menu when she did come over and was told I was "2 minutes too late!" To which I hopefully replied that I had been seated before six. The server said nothing, just stared at me, then, without responding, just asked in a louder voice if I would like something to drink. Ok sure- maybe I'm too late and they have a strict policy (I worked for the Derschang group for years in multiple locations ...there's usually wiggle room) But I didn't expect special treatment, I would simply expect at least a response saying "sorry, strict policy" or something rather than just being flat out ignored. But I didn't linger on the point. I said I'd have a seltzer to drink to start, asked to have a salad first and then steak frites from the regular menu. Salad and entree came out at the same time. Again, not a big deal and not something I would normally even feel bothered by. But as time went on, it fit into a pattern of the server intentionally rushing service to get me to leave. Within mere moments of taking the last bites of my dinner she arrived again, whisked away my plates and dropped the check unceremoniously. No inquiry about how the meal was, no offer of anything more. I had intended to have a drink and dessert, and even at that point I thought I would still order something more . Then the server was suddenly ever present, swooping by very close to my table no less than 3 times in the span of 5 minutes while I was finishing my drink, clearly a tactic to get my attention to compel me to pay up and leave. Since she specifically marked my start time as 6:02, I took note that I had been there for about 45 minutes. Not extremely long, there was no one waiting for a table, no one mentioned that they had incoming reservations and needed this table. I finally looked up from what I was doing and she asked if I was ready.. when clearly I hadn't touched the receipt or put my payment down on the table. Just flabbergasted by the rudeness I said "no, I'm not" but at that point it was clear I wasn't welcome, so her dream came true and I was ready to leave. Next time she came by I paid via card on the hand-held device and had a WAD of cash out on the table to leave a tip. I selected "no tip" on the screen and she turned it around, read it and said "COOL." Then walked away saying nothing else. WILD! She really seemed to expect that I wasn't going to tip in the first place by the way she was running the table. I hate to even say this but it felt kinda racial or weirdly classist or presumptive about what I would spend, at best. I felt like I was written off immediately because I wanted to order from the happy hour menu (?) EVERYONE wants to do that! I wanted to give the grace to think she was inexperienced at first, but there were just too many details to think this wasn't intentional. And if you're wondering, I DID tip, even after all this, because service industry workers are the only people we can punish on a whim when we don't like their service. We don't think it's appropriate to take away wages from grocery workers, doctors or carpenters on a case by case basis when they're not on top of their game, so it wasn't within my personal ethic to be punitive. But today was the first time in 28 years of hospitality work I ever considered not tipping. What an awesome little cafe!! We came here yesterday for breakfast and had a really good time. Well rather...my friends got breakfast. I got an early lunch heh. We walked here but I believe you could park on the street. We got there at 10:45am. We waited for about 15 minutes to get a table. We were greeted and told the special for the day. While we tried to figure out what we wanted to eat, I was amazed with the decor. But the main draw here was definitely the food. I ordered a French Dip Sandwich and it was pretty friggin good. I asked for grilled onions to be added and our waiter said he would see what he can do. When I got the sandwich I searched high and low for the onions. They were nowhere in sight. But it was ok. The sandwich itself was still good on it's own. The meat was tender and the dip had a nice flavor. Overall, I had a really good experience. From watching one of the waiter's from the Jackson 5 dance around the place half the time, to the great quality of service and food, I really enjoyed the general feel of Oddfellas. Stopped here for brunch this morning before heading out to March for Our Lives. While it was pretty crowded and tables could have used a little more space between one another, it was such a cute and pleasant little spot! I was happy they were able to seat us right away around 10:30am, even with the protest going on right outside. The food did not disappoint, either. Apparently the Eggs Benedict are popular here, and after scarfing mine down, I can see why. The place also proved itself to be part coffee shop with its latte art. For the food, I got baked eggs and split an order of beignets. The beignets were boring - fried bread-like batter with powdered sugar and jam. The baked eggs were a winner! They were gooey, cheesy and delicious. The only odd part was the whole slice of deli meat (too salty and annoying to cut up) -- see if you can sub for bacon. Coffee was reliably refilled.
