Odd Duck has been one of the top places I've been wanting to go to for a while. The vibes were 10/10. This is such a cool place to take your time eating at. The servers here know the menu very well which was super helpful when deciding what we wanted to order. The food was good but out of the 4 dishes we ordered the Tempura Nori Roll GIMMARI was the only memorable item to me and our server said it would be rotated off of the menu. I can tell that there has been a lot of care and detail put into the experience here and I can really appreciate that.
I enjoyed the tapas / small plate style dining experience at Odd Duck and loved the drinks! I had a unique lemongrass and cilantro cocktail, which was the highlight of the evening for me. I highly recommend! I also had the pisco drink, which I'd order again. We had a delicious array of foods, but I felt as something was missing from each dish. I wanted to love it all, but the food fell a little flat. With that being said, the menu is seasonal, and I would definitely stop back for a drink!
Service is a 10/10!! For my birthday, I decided to have dinner at Odd Duck since I've heard nothing but great reviews from the restaurant. Our server was extremely kind and open to answering all of our questions about the menu. As for the restaurant, the vibes were amazing! This is a great place to have a sit-down dinner and chat with friends/family. The place was lively, and the energy was great! As for the food, it did not disappoint! The menu lived up to all of its expectations and tasted amazing! Once our meal was over, the server brought over an Odd Duck birthday card, which made the day even more special! It was an extremely thoughtful gesture!
What a surprisingly great restaurant and meal! The menu is so creative and the food quite tasty with truly exceptional combinations of ingredients so cleverly composed. We had deviled eggs, a super fresh crudo, amazing salads, and some incredible proteins. My wife has two rather complicated allergies--cilantro and high fructose corn syrup--and the staff and kitchen went out of their way to mark up a copy of the menu for her so she could safely explore what options she could eat. We are from Los Angeles and my son moved to Milwaukee recently. Odd Duck felt like a place we would have discovered back in Southern California. The sophistication of the dishes, the flavor profiles, and the quality ingredients really added up to a stunning meal.
Outstanding! We came in on a Saturday night with a reservation (seems critical - it was packed) and were seated right away. They have a rotating menu and are very accommodating to food allergies! The waitress took my menu and had the kitchen mark it up and discussed variations. The drink menu is fascinating and they have a big wine menu too. Our waitress recommended 2 plates per person and that seemed to be a good amount and so we got to try 8 things split 4 ways (though I think this is the max you could share one plate). The flavors were interesting and unique and overall delightful. The table's favorite was the duck ravioli with squash with the potatoes at a close second for me. There's a variety of vegetarian options. The business chooses to publicly display their values through signs signaling that they aim to be an open and inclusive space. They offer gender neutral bathrooms and accessible spaces.
**June 2025: Tuesday Dinner Visit** My friend and I saw so many positive reviews for the Odd Duck and the restaurant was a happening place despite being a weeknight. We arrived around 5pm without a reservation, but thankfully there a table near the window opened up for us. I think if you're interested in dining here making a reservation would definitely be recommended! https://oddduckrestaurant.com/reservations/ The style of food here is Asian fusion and the portion size is small plates. It's a hipster/trendy setting and the bar area seems like it'd be a cool place to hang out. Service is also friendly. We settled on the following dishes Charred Broccolini $17 Chili deviled eggs $6 Ricotta and duck confit tortellini $21 Haitian griot pork cheeks $19 Everything was beautifully presented and flavorful. Among the dishes we picked the Ricotta and duck confit tortellini though I would gladly enjoy them all again. Congrats to Chef Ross Bachhuber and Samuel Ek on being a James Beard Semi-finalist in the Best Chef in the Midwest category. Your dishes were amazing!
We had a wonderful experience at Odd Duck while in MKE for a wedding. Between the 4 of us we ordered everything from the vegetarian side of the menu except the potatoes and ordered a couple of carnivore items as well. I can't say there was a single dish that missed the mark. Our server, Andrew, did a wonderful job or pacing the meal, making suggestions, and just was an overall great presence for our dinner. He never rushed us. He never failed to meet expectations at all. We were so engrossed with our eating and discussions that 3 hours later we looked at our watches and were astonished we'd been there so long. Highlights for me were the fried rice, the eggs, and the duck tortelloni. Really fabulous meal. Excellent Georgian Orange style wine. And a nicely decorated restaurant with tons of duck figurines and a warm woody interior. I'd definitely come back again.
Solid! We went here for an impromptu date night as we have always wanted to try it and use some rest credit we had there. For starters I will say we enjoyed the service as we were promptly seated and walked through the menu. We do think the space was quite warm for a summer night. We thought the bar space was pretty cool. We loved the food though but were unsure where it fell on value with other places we have tried at that price point. We loved small bites but were unsure where this fell and think the value is probably 4/5 with taste being 5/5.
I've dined at Odd Duck 3 times. The first time was in 2019 at its previous location, and the three of us liked every dish we shared. The second time was a about 3 years ago at its current location, and the two of us liked the dishes a lot (particularly the vegetarian dishes). I visited the restaurant once more with my family in December 2025, expecting the same delicious food with balanced flavor profiles. The menu has completely changed from what we saw a couple of years ago, indicating that the restaurant keeps innovating and offers different dishes as the season changes. What was disappointing, however, is that the "new" dishes had either one overpowering flavor (e.g., sourness) or nothing to distinguish themselves from those at much cheaper restaurants. The following were the dishes that we shared. - Honeycrisp Apple Salad. The taste was overwhelmingly sour due to the dressing, and most people could have done better at home. - Smashed Potatoes. The ingredients looked very good, and the taste was pretty good as well, although none of us were really impressed with the flavors. - Fried Oyster Mushrooms. The dish was ok, but there was again nothing distinguishing. - Chinese Allium Pancakes. This was a complete failure as the pancakes were just cooked pieces of flattened dough with green onions inside, whereas Chinese green onion pancakes are supposed to be crispy with many thin layers (like puff pastry). - Duck Confit & Mushroom Doppio Ravioli. This is by far the most tasteful dish of all. - Wood-Fried Goan Sausage Ring. The dish was very good also. - Wood-Fried Bavette Steak. The steak was cooked properly, and the flavor was fine, although some of the pieces were a bit chewy. The dish again had nothing to distinguish itself from similar dishes at much cheaper restaurants. Overall, we had high expectations but were rather disappointed with the quality of the dishes we ordered. Innovation is for sure a good thing, but the restaurant seems to offer a bunch of new dishes without carefully testing and refining them, damaging its own image in the minds of customers.
TLDR: 100% recommend if you're ever in Milwaukee. The menu is quirky, the servers are quirky and the place is a little quirky. What's not to love?! We had such a great meal for a really reasonable price (compared to Chicago)! The Duck Confit Tortellini was nice and soupy with the chanterelle mushrooms. Really great umami flavors. The Fried Piri Piri Chicken was excellent. Just enough kick to it and perfectly juicy yet crispy on the outside. The Fried Wild Rice with white kimchi was nice and spicy but a little too salty for me. Our server was super knowledgeable and also a little quirky but in the most AWESOME way. We definitely appreciated his guidance on everything. We'd definitely love to come back when their menu changes next season!
Was so impressed with the quality of food to the price that I came back again in the same week! Food: -pork chop: cooked perfectly with the right level of sweetness -BAVETTE STEAK: cooked perfectly with meat retaining its flavorful juices, paired well with the garnishes and potatoes for clearing the palate -beet salad: this one I was rather disappoint with. Despite the nice arrangement the beets themselves lacked any flavor. I've had much in many other places. -charcuterie: had the Schroeder Kase and Sopressata, the plate also comes with the chef's choice of bread, grapes, dijon mustard, pecans, pickles, and candied apricots. Everything tasted fresh. Would recommend. Could substitute as a dish -bay leaf soft serve: never had soft serve in this flavor before. Got a hardy bowl and the crunch of the nuts complemented the flavor well Overall food: these are smaller plates or one charcuterie and one dish. So be ready to order two plates to get you belly full. I would consider this a $$$ spot but good for a casual night. Service was top notch. Both at the bar and at the table. Every server knew how to explain the menu and what to recommend. I was checked on at just the right frequency. Parking is to be expected in this area of Milwaukee, street as you can find it.
Well, Odd Duck does it again. This was my first visit to their new location (I know, I'm late), but I was delighted to check it out and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Our server, Andrew, was fantastic. Just an overall friendly guy, very attentive, lots of great recs. I needed a refresher on the menu and best way to order, since Odd Duck is primarily small/shareable plates, and he walked us through how many plates are recommended for two people, and some of his favorites. As soon as our wine arrived to the table (sauv blanc for me and flavorful cab for my husband), we decided to put in some items from the cheese and charcuterie menu. Wow, loveddd the gouda and the serrano ham. They came plated with a few other bites like grapes, bread, and marcona almonds (YUM). We went on to share the wood fired brussels sprouts, the duck dish that definitely had some spice (in a great way), and the chorizo chicken. They were all fantastic. And I hate to say it, but their menu is always rotating so you may or may not be able to get your hands on these ones in particular. The good news? Everything on their ever-changing menu sounds delicious and there is a reason their chefs been nominated for James Beard Award. Lovely atmosphere, kind and attentive staff, unbeatable food. Come here if you haven't already.
We had the pleasure of dining last night and the meal and the service were fantastic. We started with the marinated olives and the garlic naan. They used fiddleheads in one of the sauces which is something not commonly seen in the Midwest and was very delicious. The rabbit and ramp gyoza were the best thing we ate that evening. Perfectly balanced. Finished with the butternut squash pasta and the bison cheek. Beautiful restaurant and beautiful food serviced by lovely and caring staff. Thank you.

new fav spot in mke been wanting to try this for sooo long and so happy we did! the outside sort of gives diner vibes but the inside is cute and very much fits the whole duck aesthetic - there were duck decorations everywhere lol. they change up the menu every now and then which is nice. definitely on the pricier end as each dish is fairly small and ~$20 each so it could add up quickly. but the food AND service were fantastic. the smoked pork belly was recommended to us and while it didn't look as aesthetically pleasing it ended up being soo good. the pork belly was crispy on the edge but very tender and the apricot glaze complimented it well. the chips & dip were a great appetizer, love that the caviar was part of it! the lamb dumplings were really tiny and while good and bursted with flavor, not sure if it's totally worth the price. near the end of our meal, i accidentally dropped my cocktail glass and it shattered all over the table. the server came over so fast and offered to replace our food multiple times in case any glass shards got in. i felt bad and declined but really appreciated them offering to replace it - top tier service for sure. will def be back, we wanna do vday dinner here next year!! read more

Last night we went to Odd Duck for the first time and it did not disappoint! We made a reservation a few days ahead of time, just because we know it's often busy. We decided not to have any drinks, but the ones on the table next to us looked incredible! We went for four small plates for the two of us, and it was the perfect amount of food. We started with the Foie Gras Duck Confit Croquettes which melted in our mouth and we're so tasty! Next we had the Matar Paneer, which had just enough spice to it and they gave us two bowls to split. The Beef Shortrib came in next and was cooked to perfection. We rounded it out with the wood fired broccoli which had the best sauce! The staff was very on top of things and knowledgeable about the menu. I would 100% go back and it definitely did not break the bank! read more

One of the very best tapas in Milwaukee! I also had the charcuterie board, tuna crudo, etc (shared a few plates with several people) what stood out: chicken liver mousse was absolutely delightful, just perfect and the candied peaches. Pictured is the muhammarah with the wood fired bread, this sauce/dip is wizardry! Tuna crudo is very fresh with the aguachile which did not overpower the fish in spice. What I really loved during my visit was how they concocted my dirty martini, it was just on point, perfect brine from the olive juice. They have such fun cocktails on the menu and it's really impossible to have just 1 drink. The service was great! We came with about 18 people (I think) and they were very patient and accommodating with us! Ambiance is casual but also intimate and just lots of fun! Will be back!! read more
Odd Duck is one of those places I always driven by while in Bay View but never purposely visited... until recently that is! Once I walked in I was actually surprised on how open their dining space was, for some reason I assumed they had a smaller, more intimate space. Their space from the street is deceptive, haha. Also, they have a patio space in the back for outdoor dining. On this visit, I was solo, so I only wanted to take up one spot at the bar. I ordered the #31 with mezcal and a strawberry garnish, a very refreshing flavor! I also put in an order for the "Cry Baby Cauliflower" and that may be the best cauliflower dish I've ever had! While I wouldn't say I was full after eating it, the taste was great! I think if I wasn't in as big of a hurry, I would have ordered another cocktail and another item on the menu - but this first visit has me rethinking what I thought I knew of the space. I think it will make for a great future date spot too. read more

Went to Odd Duck for the second time last night and the food, service and overall experience were just as incredible as our last time there. The dishes they create are so well balanced and every flavor on the plate creates a literal symphony on your palette. Also the timing of when dishes get delivered and what seems to be a curated order to the table is truly unique to this restaurant. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to experience a wide variety of different dishes that are all well made. read more

Wonderful experience at odd duck. The walleye was so juicy we almost ordered another. We also inhaled the dessert which was chocolatey almond cookies over marshmallow & more toasted almonds. Where to begin? The food, the service, everything is fabulous! I love choosing the small plates, it's almost as fun as eating them! Servers give solid suggestions on what to order and how much. O.M.G. You're not going to find better food in Milwaukee. Fight me. EVERYTHING on their menu is either amazing or fan-f#%*ing-tastic. If I were a richer woman, I would walk in and get one of everything on the menu. The first time I tried it, I was so impressed, that the next night when I had reservations to another "foodie" Restaurant, I left after appetizers and came back to Odd Duck. This place makes me want to bring them little duckies. And I don't say that lightly. I want to hold them and love them and make them mine. The restaurant, that is. Not the ducks. Those I could leave or take. BUT I love the place so Much, that I accept and respect their love for the ducks and will take them just as they are. Am I proposing to a restaurant? Mayhaps. You will have to make reservations if you want to dine in, but the patio seating is a first come and first serve basis. My friend and I called beforehand to see how long the wait would be for the patio seating and they told us it would be a 30-40 min wait on a Saturday evening. We decided to check it out and walk around the neighborhood as we wait. Luckily, when we stopped by to put our names on the list, we were seated right away! We didn't have to wait after all. The only bad thing is that there were a lot of bugs where we were seated. Some flew into our drinks and food. We ordered the following items. Their menu is more like a tapas style. They suggested ordering 3-4 items for two people. Chef's Choice Charcuterie Board - if you are in a mood for a surprise or don't know what to choose for your cheese and charcuterie board, select this option Crispy Fried Cry Baby Cauliflower - Warning. This dish is SPICY, but I love it. They fry it really well where the texture is very crispy. This is my favorite dish. Nihari Gajar Gosht - the braised beef short rib is cooked to perfection where it melts in your mouth. The sauce is not overbearing and doesn't have a heavy taste which is perfect because they give you the green chili chutney which is amazing!! Their garlic naan bread that comes with this dish is toasted where it has a slight crisp to it Springtime Cassoulet au Canard - we got this dish bc the place is called "Odd Duck" so we thought it would be necessary to get a duck dish. It's a heavy and starchy dish and the taste is more on the bland side. It is served in a mini cast iron skillet so it keeps it warm for a long time. The smoked duck breast was cooked nicely, but it didn't have much taste to it. The duck sausage has an interesting texture and the fava beans are huge and it has a potato taste and texture. read more

Lives up to its reputation. Nice atmosphere, quality service, well prepared food, and appealing to foodies. You know who you are. Get a reservation, you'll need one, possibly well in advance, if aiming for weekend. We ordered: $12 Glass Chenin Blanc, $24 Full Medames, and $38 Steak, the last two items sized for two people. A great dinner spot. This uniquely decorated place gives off good vibes and tasty tapas. For the table we tried a 4 cheese spread of charcuterie ending up with an aged cheddar, two types of blue cheeses and some other white cheese. Hands down being a girl from Buffalo the creamy blue cheese was my favorite. We ordered a few tapas to share including the octopus, pork belly, queso fundido, heirloom tomato salad and shishito peppers. Hands down the octopus was cooked to perfection. I am a glutton for octopus though and this was flavored perfectly and crispy on the ends while tender in the meatier parts. Another really good mention was the pork belly- perfectly sticky and charred on the outside and tender in the middle. Shout out to the lamb chorizo queso fundido! Cheese, cheese, cheese. The lamb wasn't super present and honestly probably could have been taken out. The creme brulee was weirdly not cracking on top so I would skip this. read more
Enjoyed my dining experience at Odd Duck. Service and ambiance was great. The food was very good and I enjoyed the variety. The foie gras duck confit croquettes and the oyster mushrooms were amazing. The lamb and pork dishes were okay. We also got the crème brûlée which we found to be a little too sweet but a huge portion. Aside from that, it is definitely one of the best tapas places in Milwaukee. I am definitely going back to try more plates! read more

I go here for the small plates. Lots of selection and variety. The oyster mushrooms and octopus are my favorites. The drinks are also incredible. They have a favorites section which every drink is delicious. The chilli and cornbread is delicious. I like to bring my friends because everything can be shared. Save room for dessert! read more

A great spot serving an ever-changing menu of small plates. There were so many vegetarian dishes to pick from. We started with the cheese board and moved onto a summer farm heirloom tomato salad, which was refreshing and delicious. We then did the summer squash and corn salad which was warm and tasty and had the perfect crunch. The shishito pepper dish was comfort cooking at its finest. The idli sambal was tasty with the perfect amount of indian spices. The staff, ambiance and food really delivered. No dish went wasted. Will definitely be back soon :)! read more
New location and yummy vibes all around. Odd duck has been on my list of places for far too long to check out and I finally checked them off my list of places to dine at. From the drinks, small plates, to dessert, our server Adam made sure we were taken care of and in for a wonderful dining experience. We had a few snack items, a pimento cheese ball, roasted nuts (yum!) and the olives. If you love mushrooms, be sure to order the oyster mushrooms. We LOVED the Moroccan chicken as well! We closed up our meal with their cashew chocolate cheesecake dessert with a citrus sauce. Only complaint is that the AC was blasted so if you run on the colder side, bring a jacket for dining in! read more

We have always loved odd duck. I'm glad to see they're in an even bigger space but also kept the same vibe of the old location. The evolving menu always has something awesome for my vegan wife, and I always get my meat fix here as well. I don't think we have ever had a bad dish here and it's always great for dinner that's casual or even a special occasion. They always have rad cocktails happening too so be sure to get one. read more
I've only had carry out before, so this was our first in person Odd Duck experience and it did not disappoint. We loved our drinks and everything we tried was absolutely amazing. Our waiter was excellent and had great recommendations. Going with a group of 4 was perfect to try all of the dishes we wanted! We let our waiter basically choose for us and it was perfect. We had a variety from vegetarian to steak and from American to Asian cuisine. One of the most impressive things about this place is the variety of items they create with the highest quality and taste. I can't recommend them highly enough and I am already looking forward to our next visit! read more

Didn't make a reservation, but was able to walk right in and grab a seat at the bar (helped that I was solo). Ordered the bread plate with Beehive cheese + summer squash. Everything tasted good. Was a nice, yet also laid back atmosphere. Would be a cute date spot. Over all I had a pleasant time, but not sure I would frequent it as it's a bit higher end of a place than my norm read more
