Overall really enjoyed our experience at odd duck. The food and atmosphere were great. The menu has a lot of different options so you can really explore and try new things. My personal favorite was the stuffed pasta. The only drawback is the prices - they suggest 4-5 dishes for 2 people and they range from $16-$30 which can add up fast depending on the dishes that peak your interest and if you add drinks/desert on top of it. It did seem like they may run some deals in the bar section which I would be interested in looking more into. Overall - for a splurge date night great food!

The food and drinks were amazing! The only thing was the prices were steep, especially in a tapas like restaurant $20-30 each adds up quickly with $15 cocktails as well. But besides that our server was super helpful and nice and the food and vibes were great!

Odd Duck has been one of the top places I've been wanting to go to for a while. The vibes were 10/10. This is such a cool place to take your time eating at. The servers here know the menu very well which was super helpful when deciding what we wanted to order. The food was good but out of the 4 dishes we ordered the Tempura Nori Roll GIMMARI was the only memorable item to me and our server said it would be rotated off of the menu. I can tell that there has been a lot of care and detail put into the experience here and I can really appreciate that.

Service is a 10/10!! For my birthday, I decided to have dinner at Odd Duck since I've heard nothing but great reviews from the restaurant. Our server was extremely kind and open to answering all of our questions about the menu. As for the restaurant, the vibes were amazing! This is a great place to have a sit-down dinner and chat with friends/family. The place was lively, and the energy was great! As for the food, it did not disappoint! The menu lived up to all of its expectations and tasted amazing! Once our meal was over, the server brought over an Odd Duck birthday card, which made the day even more special! It was an extremely thoughtful gesture!

What a surprisingly great restaurant and meal! The menu is so creative and the food quite tasty with truly exceptional combinations of ingredients so cleverly composed. We had deviled eggs, a super fresh crudo, amazing salads, and some incredible proteins. My wife has two rather complicated allergies--cilantro and high fructose corn syrup--and the staff and kitchen went out of their way to mark up a copy of the menu for her so she could safely explore what options she could eat. We are from Los Angeles and my son moved to Milwaukee recently. Odd Duck felt like a place we would have discovered back in Southern California. The sophistication of the dishes, the flavor profiles, and the quality ingredients really added up to a stunning meal.

I enjoyed the tapas / small plate style dining experience at Odd Duck and loved the drinks! I had a unique lemongrass and cilantro cocktail, which was the highlight of the evening for me. I highly recommend! I also had the pisco drink, which I'd order again. We had a delicious array of foods, but I felt as something was missing from each dish. I wanted to love it all, but the food fell a little flat. With that being said, the menu is seasonal, and I would definitely stop back for a drink!

Outstanding! We came in on a Saturday night with a reservation (seems critical - it was packed) and were seated right away. They have a rotating menu and are very accommodating to food allergies! The waitress took my menu and had the kitchen mark it up and discussed variations. The drink menu is fascinating and they have a big wine menu too. Our waitress recommended 2 plates per person and that seemed to be a good amount and so we got to try 8 things split 4 ways (though I think this is the max you could share one plate). The flavors were interesting and unique and overall delightful. The table's favorite was the duck ravioli with squash with the potatoes at a close second for me. There's a variety of vegetarian options. The business chooses to publicly display their values through signs signaling that they aim to be an open and inclusive space. They offer gender neutral bathrooms and accessible spaces.

**June 2025: Tuesday Dinner Visit** My friend and I saw so many positive reviews for the Odd Duck and the restaurant was a happening place despite being a weeknight. We arrived around 5pm without a reservation, but thankfully there a table near the window opened up for us. I think if you're interested in dining here making a reservation would definitely be recommended! https://oddduckrestaurant.com/reservations/ The style of food here is Asian fusion and the portion size is small plates. It's a hipster/trendy setting and the bar area seems like it'd be a cool place to hang out. Service is also friendly. We settled on the following dishes Charred Broccolini $17 Chili deviled eggs $6 Ricotta and duck confit tortellini $21 Haitian griot pork cheeks $19 Everything was beautifully presented and flavorful. Among the dishes we picked the Ricotta and duck confit tortellini though I would gladly enjoy them all again. Congrats to Chef Ross Bachhuber and Samuel Ek on being a James Beard Semi-finalist in the Best Chef in the Midwest category. Your dishes were amazing!

We had a wonderful experience at Odd Duck while in MKE for a wedding. Between the 4 of us we ordered everything from the vegetarian side of the menu except the potatoes and ordered a couple of carnivore items as well. I can't say there was a single dish that missed the mark. Our server, Andrew, did a wonderful job or pacing the meal, making suggestions, and just was an overall great presence for our dinner. He never rushed us. He never failed to meet expectations at all. We were so engrossed with our eating and discussions that 3 hours later we looked at our watches and were astonished we'd been there so long. Highlights for me were the fried rice, the eggs, and the duck tortelloni. Really fabulous meal. Excellent Georgian Orange style wine. And a nicely decorated restaurant with tons of duck figurines and a warm woody interior. I'd definitely come back again.

Solid! We went here for an impromptu date night as we have always wanted to try it and use some rest credit we had there. For starters I will say we enjoyed the service as we were promptly seated and walked through the menu. We do think the space was quite warm for a summer night. We thought the bar space was pretty cool. We loved the food though but were unsure where it fell on value with other places we have tried at that price point. We loved small bites but were unsure where this fell and think the value is probably 4/5 with taste being 5/5.

I've dined at Odd Duck 3 times. The first time was in 2019 at its previous location, and the three of us liked every dish we shared. The second time was a about 3 years ago at its current location, and the two of us liked the dishes a lot (particularly the vegetarian dishes). I visited the restaurant once more with my family in December 2025, expecting the same delicious food with balanced flavor profiles. The menu has completely changed from what we saw a couple of years ago, indicating that the restaurant keeps innovating and offers different dishes as the season changes. What was disappointing, however, is that the "new" dishes had either one overpowering flavor (e.g., sourness) or nothing to distinguish themselves from those at much cheaper restaurants. The following were the dishes that we shared. - Honeycrisp Apple Salad. The taste was overwhelmingly sour due to the dressing, and most people could have done better at home. - Smashed Potatoes. The ingredients looked very good, and the taste was pretty good as well, although none of us were really impressed with the flavors. - Fried Oyster Mushrooms. The dish was ok, but there was again nothing distinguishing. - Chinese Allium Pancakes. This was a complete failure as the pancakes were just cooked pieces of flattened dough with green onions inside, whereas Chinese green onion pancakes are supposed to be crispy with many thin layers (like puff pastry). - Duck Confit & Mushroom Doppio Ravioli. This is by far the most tasteful dish of all. - Wood-Fried Goan Sausage Ring. The dish was very good also. - Wood-Fried Bavette Steak. The steak was cooked properly, and the flavor was fine, although some of the pieces were a bit chewy. The dish again had nothing to distinguish itself from similar dishes at much cheaper restaurants. Overall, we had high expectations but were rather disappointed with the quality of the dishes we ordered. Innovation is for sure a good thing, but the restaurant seems to offer a bunch of new dishes without carefully testing and refining them, damaging its own image in the minds of customers.

TLDR: 100% recommend if you're ever in Milwaukee. The menu is quirky, the servers are quirky and the place is a little quirky. What's not to love?! We had such a great meal for a really reasonable price (compared to Chicago)! The Duck Confit Tortellini was nice and soupy with the chanterelle mushrooms. Really great umami flavors. The Fried Piri Piri Chicken was excellent. Just enough kick to it and perfectly juicy yet crispy on the outside. The Fried Wild Rice with white kimchi was nice and spicy but a little too salty for me. Our server was super knowledgeable and also a little quirky but in the most AWESOME way. We definitely appreciated his guidance on everything. We'd definitely love to come back when their menu changes next season!

Was so impressed with the quality of food to the price that I came back again in the same week! Food: -pork chop: cooked perfectly with the right level of sweetness -BAVETTE STEAK: cooked perfectly with meat retaining its flavorful juices, paired well with the garnishes and potatoes for clearing the palate -beet salad: this one I was rather disappoint with. Despite the nice arrangement the beets themselves lacked any flavor. I've had much in many other places. -charcuterie: had the Schroeder Kase and Sopressata, the plate also comes with the chef's choice of bread, grapes, dijon mustard, pecans, pickles, and candied apricots. Everything tasted fresh. Would recommend. Could substitute as a dish -bay leaf soft serve: never had soft serve in this flavor before. Got a hardy bowl and the crunch of the nuts complemented the flavor well Overall food: these are smaller plates or one charcuterie and one dish. So be ready to order two plates to get you belly full. I would consider this a $$$ spot but good for a casual night. Service was top notch. Both at the bar and at the table. Every server knew how to explain the menu and what to recommend. I was checked on at just the right frequency. Parking is to be expected in this area of Milwaukee, street as you can find it.

Can you accommodate a dinner for approximately 60 people on a Tuesday evening?

No, the largest group we can accomodate for a regular dinner reservation is eight. The largest pre-planned set-menu dinner party size is 20.

How late is the kitchen open to take bar orders?

The kitchen doesn't close at a specific time, but you have to be here by 10pm to be seated for food, even in the bar. So if you sit down at the bar at 9:59pm, you can take your time and have a leisurely meal. But if you get here at 10:01pm, then we…

What seasonal vegetables does Odd Duck plan on offering this spring?

We print our menu daily, so we are always changing based on when things start coming in from farmers. We actually use local produce all winter long too, when possible - our farmers grow things like greens, peppers and microgreens hydroponically…

Is your dining room open again?

Our dining room has been open since Spring of 2021, but we have been closed for the last week due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in the Milwaukee area. We re-open tomorrow. Our open hours typically are Tuesday through Saturday, 5pm to 10pm. The bar…

Does the Odd Duck have an extensive wine program?

They have lots of wine options, unsure if it is necessarily "extensive".

Does odd duck use MSG in their dishes? am allergic to msg and had a very distinct reaction after eating there last night. According to the waiter and the kitchen, they DO use msg in their pork shoulder dish, I wonder about others?

We only use MSG in dishes when we feel like it is culturally necessary to the integrity of a recipe. If you have a concern or allergy and ask the server, they will be able to find out if we use it in any dishes at that time, and which ones they…

I love the exclusive feel, the unassuming location and not being able to see in from the outside adds to the allure. We arrived 10 minutes ahead of our reservation and they promptly sat us at a small bar and offered us a drink while we waited. I am not a sake drinker, but it feels like a crime to not have one here! The waitress was very informative and let me sample a few - you have to try the unfiltered ones! They are a lot fruitier and smoother than you'd think. Our reservation was for 6:45, but we were sat to begin just after 7 (I think that's intentional to ensure everyone is present when they are actually ready to flip and begin service again). It's a well-oiled machine with how smoothly they flip each 10-person group through the evening. Once the chefs get started (there's two, one per 5 guests), it's so neat to watch them work and create each piece or dish for you. I honestly can't even go into detail about each course of the 14-course experience, it's so intricate and an explosion of flavors and textures, you simply have to experience it for yourself :). What I will say is it's well worth the cost and top-notch food. We will look forward to going back again some day!

We saw our waiter, a waitress-in-training, the hostess, and food runners multiple times throughout our meal, without it feeling too much. We selected the wonton and the pork buns as appetizers. The wonton is similar to a crab rangoon. It was prettily presented. We had a hard time identifying any hint of bacon, and the tomato-pepper jam needed a warning for the unwary, spice-challenged, which two of our party were. The tang of the kimchi aioli was a unique and pleasant addition. The pork buns may have been the best and most surprising dish of the entire meal. It was bright and flavorful on the tongue, with a nice mellowing bacon/pork flavor that added a nice depth to the dish. We chose the braised beef, duck leg confit, and the summer veggie skewers as our mains. The confit was OK. The flavors were muddied by an overabundance of allspice or clove. It needed a hit of something acidic to brighten the dish. The braised beef was certainly better than the confit, but it too was spiced in a heavy-handed manner. While the apple and sweet potato puree certainly opened the dish a bit, the kale, plated under the braised beef made the dish difficult to eat since it was difficult to cut. The summer veggie skewer dish was probably my favorite dish of the mains. The black bean cakes were nicely spiced, and the mellowness of the beans was well-balanced by the cleanness of the summer veg, just barely charred. My only issue with the dish is the sprinkling of the ajwain sunflower crunch. Certainly, fresh thyme would have been less pungent and less distracting, especially in terms of mouthfeel. It made the dish feel disjointed and lacking cohesion. Overall, I appreciated the effort, but it missed the mark for me.

There's couches and you lounge for a bit. Then you get the menu and have to reread it. It's...unusual. Latin meets soul food. Latin. Meets. Soul food. Oh and also, all the drinks come in snifter glasses. ???? Okay, so I'm not usually a fan of super specific, hipstery themes like this. But I decided to give Snifters a chance. And I'll admit, I liked what they had to offer. The signature dish seems to be the empanadas. These empanadas, however, are filled with unusual ingredients. We ended up getting The Manchester (basically mac and cheese stuffed in an empanada. Decent, but confusing to the senses), The Appalachia (pulled pork sandwich empanada. Solidly good), and The Cream City Standard (beans and potatoes. Easily my favorite, most similar to a traditional empanada). Overall, the empanadas were tasty, despite their oddness! We then moved on to an entree option. I went with Los Camarones, which were giant breaded shrimp served on top of cornbread. The shrimp was excellent. Very flavorful and delicious. The dish as a whole, I thought, lacked a sauce on top. It was a bit dry overall. My friend got the chicken and waffles, which was delightfully served with the maple syrup in a snifter glass. She was a big fan, so it must have been delicious. Overall, I'm surprised how much I enjoyed Snifters. I had hesitations, but the food was unique and flavorful. My big issue: the service was painfully slow. As in, I had to get up and find our server myself, which automatically knocks one star off in my books.
