3rd try is the charm for sure! Had steak at 2 other tapas restaurants and was not impressed with the quality but had high hopes as this space received so many great reviews. We arrived shortly after opening and there were a few non reserved tables so we promptly snagged a table in the back. The space is small but charming. I would highly recommend making reservations because you do not want to miss this experience. We ordered several dishes and as each one was brought to the table it was evident from plating and scent alone that we were going to be satisfied. Satisfied is not generally what I strive for when dining out on vacation. I want to be transported to the culture and flavor profiles through food. Dinner here was incredible from the attentive but non pretentious service to the sheer quality and preparation of the food. A great date night spot while visiting Barcelona! Found out about this restaurant through a simple search for restaurants in the Placa Espanya area. We wanted a place that ideally had sangria, tapas, paella, and desserts (to celebrate two people's birthdays). This place checked off all the boxes but one (does not have paella). The sangria was delicious and not too sweet. We ordered a variety of tapas including the green salad, steaks (you can choose the amount you want via grams), gnocchi, potatoes, raw salmon, tomato/olive oil bread, and croquettes. I would highly recommend the meats as they were tender and seasoned so well. For dessert we ordered chocolate mousse (must have been dark chocolate as it was not very sweet) and tiramisu. It was very nice of them to put a tea candle on both as a birthday candle. I also loved the decor of the restaurant. It was small but very cute, with a black and white movie projected onto the wall above the bar, and interesting artwork. There's also outdoor seating as well. There are English menus for those who do not know Spanish (our server was a very nice lady who also spoke fluent English). They do have a restroom and free WiFi as well, although the WiFi works better for some platforms than others (works well for Facebook and Instagram but email, not so much). not in the busiest location but great food! the grilled octopus is off the menu (~$20) and it was a little pricey but definitely the best octopus i've had. the flavor was amazing and the sweet potato sauce in the middle pairs well with the octopus. the melted cheese dish was probably the best tapa. the only thing that would have made the meal better was if it came with some bread since the dishes are pretty salty. read more

I had a hard time finding the restaurant on my day 2 in Barcelona. But then it happened that I stumbled into the correct place because I was hungry and ready to cave into whatever was open. I was happily surprised to find myself in the correct location. I ended up dining at the bar with the lovely owners and their friend. Most places are pretty hip and trendy for me being Day 2 in Barcelona. But take a moment and stop in here to this swagging place! Every dish we had was very delicious (grilled vegetables, tomato bread, sausage, & jamon iberico). I really loved their caipirinha. The staff members were helpful and friendly. Easy to find small tapas restaurant owned and run by a friendly couple. Their love for their business shows throughout. Had great sangria, several well cooked and seasoned beef servings. You order the meats in 100 gram increments. Also had Argentine type empanadas for about 3€ each and a tuna, onion and tomato salad that was perfectly seasoned. Iberian ham of course. During the week stay in Barcelona we've tried some highly rated places for dinner. We've tried the tourist-y places on Plaça de Espanya as well as some "hole in the wall" type of local tapas places. THIS one was definitely our favorite BY FAR!! If you want some authentic tapas and GREAT service - I'd highly recommend for you to go here! We liked this place so much, we even went to dinner here twice in a row. We tried pretty much every single item on the menu and enjoyed them all! The server was super nice and explained what's what and recommended some excellent local wine! When we came back the 2nd day, she recognized us right away and welcome us with a smile as she was super excited to have us come back. Really fun spot. High quality meat done very well for ~casual prices; the grilled vegetable side was also really well made with good olive oil and seasoning. Chill atmosphere, looks like a local joint. I don't know why it's billed as a hamburger joint on yelp, it's more of an Argentinian grill. The secreto pork and Argentinian t-bone were great (you order by the 100/200 grams so you can try different meats). The nice gentleman grilling the meats is right by the bar.
