The atmosphere feels a bit overwhelming when you walk in but it's acceptable as a last option. The bartenders have bad attitudes, poor service, and seem quite fed up with their jobs. The flamboyant one and the dark haired girl are awful bartenders. I likely wouldn't ever revisit or recommend.

Man, what a cool Wednesday night. I enjoyed the atmosphere here and the no rush vibe. What i didnt know was that indeed there should've been more of an emphasis on time. YOU ARE CHARGED BY THE HOUR PER PERSON! Normally some places charge by the hour only or they charge by the number of games. The lady at the front desk didnt bother letting me know. The sign also has tricky verbiage. Didnt order food, only drinks. Drinks were great. Bartender came around when our cups ran dry. Other than the mild manipulation and lack of information, it was a nice way to spice up a regular weekday. Also, the other person working the register definitely attempted to insult my intelligence and blame the drinks when i asked for a break down of the bill.

Tables and food

Went here with a couple friends for my birthday and had a wonderful time!!! Well priced food and drinks for the area, food was very tasty freshly fried bar fare. Our server Elias was incredibly friendly, attentive, and personable. We chatted throughout the night and made us feel really welcome. Even got a free birthday shot and shoutout. You pay at the end of your time so we didn't have to worry about being hawked or rushed out and they gave us a cash discount. Super friendly and cool staff. Really good music selection throughout the night as well. Will be returning we love Oceans 8

Went to oceans 8 before heading to the movies as part of my birthday fun week, I'm not a poop player and i had a good time the drinks were cheap and strong and for some reason my pool game was ON tonight .. the music was decent they were playing sirus radio so the music was current work a hint of old school just like i like it... there are over 20 pool tables and they have a lil game area for air hockey and ping pong as well as some video games and a basketball shoot out .. overall i had a good time and id go back

Pros: - Plenty of pool tables throughout - Music varies from pop, to hip hop, to rnb, to dancehall, to reggaeton. Definitely a nice mix. - Casual place to play a few rounds, grab a drink and food. - Other games throughout if you want to try something else Cons: - Maintenance seems to be lack. Out of order restrooms and damaged pool cues. - Staff seems rude...to eachother. They treated me fine but it's a little off putting when ppl are being condescending towards one another. It gives a negative vibe but that's just my opinion - Price seems a bit steep. We played 2 rounds for about 2 hours and paid $48. Is that the going rate? I'm used to paying $1.25 per game in Jersey. This is my first time going to a place like this so maybe I'm not aware how things normally work. Street parking available.

I came here on a weeknight with a couple of friends to practice my pool skills. If you're coming to play pool, they charge by the hour. Upon going to your pool table, there's a waitress who takes your order. Pros: - A variety of pool tables - Different games (ping pong, video Gabe's, etc.) Cons: - The food here isn't the best. My nachos order tasted pretty bad. - Customer service. It took 20 minutes for the waitress to bring my drink order. Overall, if you're looking for a chill place to play pool, this is the place to be! If you get hungry, consider grabbing a bite to eat elsewhere.

Great place for games and beer. They have lots of pool and ping pong tables. The beer prices are regular considering the location. Servers are friendly and service is fast. The only thing I'd say I'm not impressed with is the cleanliness of the place. It looks dirty, maybe it's the lighting, in which case they should change it.

Quesadillas.... mmmm!!!
Estralda T.

Omg! The chicken quesadillas!!! I had them twice. First time thought maybe a fluke. Second time was the same delicious experience! The rest of the menu is great, but the quesadillas... mmm mmm mmm. The drinks menu is also a fun spin on traditional drinks as well. The hard cider was yum!

The venue is pretty spacious they have a back dining area, a big bar when you enter and a full bar upstairs. There's a ton of televisions if you are watching sports as well. They have a pretty deep beer menu which I loved. The food menu is Irish influenced bar bites. We had the wings which were nice and crispy. The center of attention was the waffle fries nachos. You can't go wrong with a potato vehicle to fresh toppings. All and all great fun spot for sports and gatherings. Also this is a melting pot. Various ages, groups, backgrounds, saw a few families. All are welcome. One flaw is St. Patty it appeared that our waiter who was superb was the only one working so it was a bit of chase to close out.

In general, I like the mellow / peaceful vibes of outer borough NYC Irish pubs at lunchtime. McMahon's did not disappoint. Solid buffalo chicken wings & good burger. I am also post fries (I will try one or two of yours, but I don't need an order of fries for myself.), so can't comment on the fries. They also make a mean Caesar salad. The Caesar & buffalo wings are pretty much my metric for all Irish pubs. McMahon's would def be in the upper 50th percentile. There are a bunch of negative reviews for this spot on here for when they are very busy, on Barclays Center game nights and / or weekends. I feel like, if you read between the lines, it's people coming in groups when it's busy acting entitled. The staff at lunch has been nothing but courteous, w/ excellent service. Also, very clean inside, & food was good quality / fresh ingredients. There are almost no Irish pubs in this area open for lunch anymore at all - thank goodness this is a good one!

I realize that's very specific, but that's what happened, and maybe you are also into the things this bar has even if that wasn't you: 1. A great bartender. A truly great backyard with plenty of seats and tables for when we drunkenly order pizza after saying we didn't need anything to eat hours before. 4. Darts. Who doesn't love throwing sharp objects around after they've been drinking? 5. Amazing signage. I like the one calling me a motherfucker if I climb around outside. And the bathroom sign saying they'll hate me if I break a glass because I leave it on the sink. It's the little things. 6. Trivia on Wednesdays. 7. Homemade fireball? One of the guys I was with noted that was on the menu, and I would've immediately bought us some shots but I had just met him that night. Next time. I'll report back. 8. Good vibes. 9.5/10 for the vibe, ambiance, and service -- and a full 10/10 for the food…read more I'm not a picky eater, but I've had some really disappointing oxtail lately, so I was hoping for the best here. I'm Dominican so I know oxtail pretty well and have made it myself. Thankfully, this place absolutely delivered. The oxtail was perfectly slow-braised, tender, and falling right off the bone -- exactly how it should be. Absolutely amazing. Of course I had the rice and peas, plus some veggies. A few of the veggies were slightly overcooked, but still flavorful and enjoyable. The drinks looked incredible, but I went with the rum punch and loved it. It was a little sweet, but super flavorful, strong, and definitely worth ordering again. For dessert, I had the Hennessy cheesecake, which was rich, decadent, and unbelievably delicious. There were three of us dining, and we all left completely satisfied -- with take-home containers because the portions are VERY generous. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that our server seemed to focus most of her attention on my friend. She is Jamaican, and because I look like a white American woman, I felt a little overlooked at times, even when I had several requests myself. We also had to look for her a couple of times while she was sitting with a group nearby. That said, everyone overall was very nice and welcoming. The bussers especially stood out -- they checked on us often, kept everything clean, and even greeted me in Spanish, which I appreciated. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back with more people next time.

For my hubby, Brooklyn is home - and we always love exploring the new places the city has to offer when we visit. We had reservations, and were seated within 10 minutes, which was reasonable. The place was packed - everyone was in high spirits, and I was ready to taste some of the best Caribbean cuisine in the region. My hubby's best friend - a Brooklyn resident, joined us. He had been to the restaurant a few times - and had good things to say. We were not disappointed. I had the Brown Stew Red Snapper - *chef's kiss*. Hubby had the iconic Jerk Oxtail over Macaroni & Cheese Pie! The English language cannot convey the beauty of that combination! Tender, tender oxtail, falling off the bone with the creamy, cheesy mac & cheese! He wanted to savor that dish another day, so he got a to-go bag and took it back to the hotel! (I couldn't help but clean my plate - I was obsessed with the fish!) Our friend enjoyed the Hennessy Fried Shrimp (not pictured) - one of his favorite dishes at the restaurant. It looked delicious as well. For drinks, I had the Bob Marley cocktail. A colorful drink - flavorful - and effective! There were people celebrating their birthdays throughout the night - and the wait staff goes IN! I was enjoying watching at least 10 people receive the Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday" song while we were there. Imagine my surprise when it was my turn! My birthday was the day before, and we had already celebrated in Manhattan. Having two special recognition events made the evening that much more special! Shout out to the Simpson crew who came with the song, the rhythm, the sparkling cake, and the good vibes! My 70th birthday was exceptional - without a doubt. The Simpson added the touch I needed. We'll definitely go back next time we're in Brooklyn!

The atmosphere really sets it apart--those soaring ceilings and massive windows create an airy, open feel that's perfect for daytime drinking, and the sports decor adds character without being over the top. We saw several other families, including one with a small baby, and the vibe was welcoming and chill. It wasn't crowded, so we could sit wherever we wanted. On this visit, we tried the deviled eggs, french fries, and Sonoran dog, all of which were tasty and came out impressively fast. The drinks are solid too: my Negroni was well-made, and they have well-priced beers and decent cocktails throughout. Daily specials make it even more budget-friendly. The staff is friendly and laid-back, which matches the overall vibe. Bonus points for being dog-friendly with a sidewalk patio, and the hours (weekdays 3-11pm, weekends 12-11pm) work well for both afternoon hangs and evening plans.
