The atmosphere was just perfect ! Great vibes and wonderful service too. We had delicious appetizers including the wings that were outstanding plus the beer coated fries, out of this world ! The angus beef burgers were of the most delicious on a brioche roll and we could barely pick it up as it was real packed and heavy!! The pool tables were completely renovated and we had a real amazing experience including playing ping pong on their tournament table. The atmosphere feels a bit overwhelming when you walk in but it's acceptable as a last option. The bartenders have bad attitudes, poor service, and seem quite fed up with their jobs. Could easily have been 5 stars but this place is an accident waiting to happen with the several unsanitary leak conditions and the fact they haven't cleaned the floor where the air hockey tables are, probably in years. Man, what a cool Wednesday night. I enjoyed the atmosphere here and the no rush vibe. What i didnt know was that indeed there should've been more of an emphasis on time. YOU ARE CHARGED BY THE HOUR PER PERSON! Normally some places charge by the hour only or they charge by the number of games. The lady at the front desk didnt bother letting me know. The sign also has tricky verbiage. Didnt order food, only drinks. Drinks were great. Bartender came around when our cups ran dry. Other than the mild manipulation and lack of information, it was a nice way to spice up a regular weekday. Went here with a couple friends for my birthday and had a wonderful time!!! Well priced food and drinks for the area, food was very tasty freshly fried bar fare. Our server Elias was incredibly friendly, attentive, and personable. We chatted throughout the night and made us feel really welcome. Even got a free birthday shot and shoutout. They almost got me with the auto gratuity. I always tip the bar but the bartender did nothing for me but pour three beers from tap. I didn't care to spark up conversation either way. Have been here a few times and recently here for my birthday. Ambiance is old school pool hall very open and wide with multiple tables. And then ping pong tables and air hockey in the back. The space is pretty big. The front of house was so pleasant and nice, helpful and checked on us a couple times. The food service was lacking as the waiter didn't show up for their shift but the remaining staff made it work. Food is typical bar food and pretty well priced, it's bar food so it gets the job done. The one con about this place was that there was NO AC AT ALL IN THERE. We were sweating bullets in there the whole time which sucked. Not having AC in the middle of summer is not the move. Awful experience! I'll try and set the stage for what occurred. After celebrating a birthday and eating dinner at Woodland; I had another friend who's birthday it was. She wanted to go for drinks and wanted some wings. After several suggestions from my other friend that didn't pan out, he suggested we go here for wings. We enter and security was friendly, that's about where the positive things ended. There's not many seats for us three to go, other than the dark area. We sit down and wait and the server comes over-- she literally dropped the two menus on the table for my two friends and goes back and gets a third menu for me. We all immediately noticed the horrible attitude but whatever, it's a billiards, not a restaurant. She comes back to take out order but we weren't ready and she displayed a clear attitude it. She comes again and two of us Order a drink and two appetizers. As my other didn't decide yet, she walks away while we are speaking to her about what we wanted. The food comes: mozzarella sticks for me, which were fine and standard. Wings which my friend said were horrible and probably the worst she's ever had and my friends nachos which looked stale along with the "cheese". Ultimately, when the bill comes, we ask to split amongst my card and my friend and she says she can't. Said the bill had to exceed $100, otherwise she wouldn't do it. I've never encountered such a rude server in my life, but the gratuity was automatically added to the bill and that probably explains it. Upon going to your pool table, there's a waitress who takes your order. Pros: - A variety of pool tables - Different games (ping pong, video Gabe's, etc.) Cons: - The food here isn't the best. Yessss, Brownstone Billiards got that old school old school with that new school vibe. I used to come here in my undergrad college days and I am so so grateful that this place is still standing. Back in the day they didn't really have all the food and drink options that they have now and the place was a bit more quaint but always a good time. They still have that familial and comfortable feeling without being to lax in terms of service, gaming options and the standard pool hall vibe, meaning that haven't changed and gotten all extra posh like some of the neighboring establishments but haven't become too run down either. I had a great time here and really enjoyed the crab cakes. That "pepsi/coke" brand was off though so please do stock, actual Pepsi or Coca Cola! Lol that is all. read more

Visited for the first time yesterday. A Meet up group had an outing here a week ago but I couldn't attend so I invited a friend whose b-day had just passed to let us hang. We got there around 7. It was hard to find the place because the signage is poorly done and it's tucked in. When we first arrived we scanned the pl. Not at all what I expected. The photos online painted a much cleaner picture. We ordered nachos, wings, mozzarella sticks, and fries. The fries never made its way to our table. We had a call something money. Wings were fairly decent. Kind of hard to screw that up. As were the mozarella sticks. The nachos were from a bag for sure. The guacamole, cheese and salsa were not fresh and appeared to have been store bought . I've had fresh chips and toppings. The guacamole had a real stale look. Kind of gross. The drinks are nothing fresh or frozen. The couches and chairs are beyond filthy ans the place ia just run down. It absolutely looks like management doesn't give a crap. At the end our bill for food was like $52 with a 7 tip already addedd. Considering we didn't have the beat experience I was like ok. Gave the waitress $60. She was supposed to return with my change since she had pointed out that the tip was already calculated but she never returned. Tacky. This pl is def for beer drinkers. I would not revisit. Don't be deceived by the tiny entrance, once you walk inside you're met by a huge space, ~30 billiards tables, ping pong tables, two bowling lanes, a couple basketball arcade games and an ice hockey table. It's a great casual place for a medium to large sized group to hang out. Our group ordered a beer tower of stella (~2+ pitchers) for less than 10/person and played pool for 3+ hours while envying everyone else's food. First of all, I was here regularly from about 1991-1996. This place has lost virtually ALL it's charm. It appears that they have the exact same pool tables, ping pong tables and air hockey machines as they have had in the early 90's when it first opened. Yes, this place always attracted thugs in the 90's, which I have no problem with, because that was Brooklyn back then. The current place is now half a bar and half pool hall. When I showed up the employee refused to say hello or thank you, he just muttered "I.D." All I can imagine is that they don't trust customers or the lowest common denominator come here, which is why they demand to hold your I.D. while you play. Pretty damn bizarre. Clearly it only still exists because of I am guessing overpriced drinks. Great that a pool hall like this still exists these days but this is a shell of it's former self. Everything is overpriced and they need new tables, not just putting new felt on. I am guessing it was 1998 or 2000 when this place went downhill. The hustlers and vibe and action and excitement all were priced out, or they moved on, or the place was "cleaned up." Depressing knowing how great a hangout this previously was. read more

Popped in here with my brothers for some pool. The space is great- huge area for pool, a few air hockey spots, ping pong, basketball arcade style and lots of TVs if you want to watch a game. You pay for the games you want when you enter and where ever you are playing the waiters come to you to bring you your drinks or food. We live a couple of stations away and this is our place to go when we feel like playing some ping pong. Its not fancy. Its not snooty. They don't give you unlimited ping pong balls and have people picking up the balls after you like some places in Manhattan. But it also costs only a quarter of what it does there. The food is decent. The drink is decent. They ping pong paddles are decent. The music is low and I can hear people and focus on my game. I wish the place was a bit better ventilated - though thats hard for a place which is underground. read more

Let's start by saying the ONLY positive about this place. The servers were nice. That's it. This whole place was just seedy from the get-go. There were signs everywhere saying what to do where to go and they held your ID and credit card which I didn't like that much. The person at the front desk looked half asleep, and the decor of the place looked REALLY old. It didn't look bad or anything it looked like it needed to be fixed. The "bowling" they had advertised at like $5 per player, is really just a machine that barely works. The employee said "use the right one not the left." When I used the right one, the right one barely worked and kept giving me a 0 score. No, its not because I kept getting gutter balls. I got lucky a few times lol. So after that we made our way to do some hoops and punch the punching bag or whatnot, those machines worked fine. After we played Billiards after, $18 for two people seemed a bit steep for me. Usually I'm used to paying $12-$14 per person and that's in the city I'm talking about. I had enough room to move around comfortably without poking anyone with my stick (That's what she said) and the place was decently lit. So to summarize my review, I would not recommend this place because there are nicer, cheaper places out there in the city. Even though it's right outside the 7th Avenue-Flatbush Avenue station, I'd rather walk a few blocks from a station and get an experience that's better and more affordable. read more
