When I entered the server was talking to a gentleman who asked how business was. She replied "very very slow". Well here is the truth about this place. The service was okay, kind of an unhappy server. The dining area is small, and not very clean. It's early spring and there were so many flies buzzing around the tables and food it could only be due to an unsanitary condition in the kitchen. I ordered #21 substitute the chow mien for lo mien. The lo mien was pale and sad not many vegetables, I didn't care for the cook on the noodles... The almond chicken had so much thick breading on it, it had a raw flour taste...the pork fried rice... cannot find the pork and the rice was mushy. Come on! I cannot even recommend the fried wontons...skip this place. Seems like this entire area lacks a good Chinese cuisine. The lady in the kitchen commented why I did not want to take left over food to go. The place is not sanitary and the food is not good. Sad read more

Ocean garden is a good little place that is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall that you might otherwise miss. The menu and food is very similar to Lok Yaun on West 11th but the parking situation is way better at Ocean Garden. Hidden inside an unassuming exterior is a busy little place that makes affordable, tasty food. I am predictable if nothing else. I always order the daily special : bbq pork, fried rice, mar far chicken, and the best almond chicken subgum chow mien. My wife usually get spring rolls (she likes crunchy things) or the salt and pepper chicken cooked extra crispy. Fortunately she cannot finish the generous portions and I get to swipe the part she can't eat. Ordering for 2 nets enough tasty chow to reasonably feed 4 people. Back in the days before 'rona the staff was always patient with my kids who loved the grilled cheese sandwiches and crinkle fries. Just know that sometimes it is a little bit of a wait for your order because they have a small staff and a fairly large volume of business. read more

I always order to go over the phone so I never dine in, so I can't say anything about atmosphere, but their food is always so good! General Tso's and chicken lo mein for the win! Those portions are huge! Don't worry if you over order - you'll eat those leftovers. It's location looks so sketchy, but when I have chinese takeout all over the west coast these always seem to be the best spots. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. the last 3 times we've given them a chance hoping they improve. Constantly get our orders wrong, the first time we had gotten home (we live in a small town 15 miles away) before we noticed the order wasn't ours, food is never hot and this time it looked like it had been sitting all day. We almost didn't come here because of the few bad reviews so that is why I'm writing this positive one so hopefully other people will see this and give it a try. I can't believe we almost passed this up. I have not been this impressed with Chinese food on the mainland in a long time. The food was truly delicious... I wish we would have tried it sooner! We got the potstickers, beef chow fun, egg flower soup, salt and pepper shrimp and mar far chicken. Without a doubt, the best Chinese food I've had in years! (Also, I'm half Chinese, if that helps convince you at all that I know what I'm talking about ) I cannot express enough how much we loved this food. Plus the service was quick and they were nice people as well. Clean establishment and I felt it was a good sign that the phone was ringing off the hook (popular place) and one of the customers was greeted by name when she walked in. Takeout gold! Not sure this place is such an awesome restaurant but it is definetly my new fav takeout in springfield. I got home, opened my general tso and the Styrofoam box was packed. Not with rice and meat, but just pure chicken! Legit portion sizes for 2. Choice of white rice or pork fried rice on the side in its own seperate container. Orange chicken meat was super tender when I got home. Sauce was on the side. The sauce wasn't anything that blew me away but not bad, I got a crap ton of sauce for it as well. Mar far chicken was some of the better stuff in the area. Could have used a little extra sweet and sour sauce for this. Sweet and sour pork was a little underwhelming. Pork fried rice was pretty decent, not anything crazy. They offer delivery for 3.50 Meal was quoted at about 10 minutes, ended up taking 20. Would love for a cup of egg flour soup to be included with meals but atleast the portions here are legit and my go to take out for springfield. read more

Tried online delivery today and it was easy using qMenu app. Delivery time said 120 minutes but only took an hour. The food here is amazing! So much flavor and everything we have tried looks and tastes fresh. I highly recommend this place! read more

I used to really like this place, decent Chinese food at a decent price. However, they recently added online ordering and they were in no way prepared. Slammed with orders, our 25 minute time-frame turned into an hour and 10 minute wait for my food. No explanation, no apologies and nothing done to make it right. I'm not asking for a lot, but they couldn't even comp me a $0.50 thing of extra sweet & sour sauce to make it right. Poor customer service. The food has gone downhill as well. I ordered the Tofu General Tsao's and all I got was super huge chunks of super soft tofu, only lightly fried, and a HUGE thing of Tsao's sauce for dipping. No veggies, and the bites were so huge that it made a mess trying to take small bites from the large chunk due to the super soft tofu running. They should use a super firm tofu and add some veggies, this was a horrible dish and I didn't enjoy my meal at all. This was sad as they were one of the few decent food options in the Thurston area. read more

The Thurston area does not have a lot of option apart from fast food. This is the only Chinese in the area. It's Americanized Chinese done fairly well. The price is reasonable and the portions large. Four stars because this is the only option in the Thurston area otherwise I would have given it a three. read more

Food tastes so fresh and so good. Not heavy or loaded with salt/msg where you feel like you have to drink a gallon of water after eating. I always place to go orders, and I get so much food, it feeds a family of 3 for at least 4 days easy. I wouldn't go to anywhere else for Chinese food. This was our first time trying this place even though we live just blocks from it and have passed it many times. We will not make that mistake again. Let me say that the entire time we were there the phone rang off the hook with take out orders. That should have been our first clue. So we ordered pot stickers. I love good pot stickers. These were better than good. They were awesome. I watched the lady make them. So yes, they are handmade! They were so filled. These were not normal pot stickers. You get 8. Those alone were a meal. We ended up taking half home because we wanted to save room for our dinner. The pork fried rice was good. The sweet and sour pork and mar far chicken were fine. We will be back to try more items. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. There were a lot of regulars that they knew by name. That says a lot! read more

Oh my gosh! This small unassuming little strip mall location is nearby our house so we made a stop to try their meals. It was a rather slow weekday stop but the cook was busy with call-in and take out orders. The service team (perhaps mother/son) were super polite and very efficient. We waited after ordering about 12 minutes in a less than attractive dining area, (needs updating terribly). Here is the thing though, if you are going to judge a book by it's cover, you will sadly miss out on some tasty food, very big portions, and low sticker prices. I really enjoyed the food here. Only had one dish I did not really like. The pot stickers were made in house and we're super delicious. Everything is cooked perfectly. We got a ton of food too. Pot stickers, fried rice, beef with green bean, some weird pick dish, salt and pepper chicken. Love that this place it right down the road. So yummy read more

This place was so yummy! This is probably some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten! The walnut shrimp was absolutely delicious. The shrimp was crispy and the walnuts were perfect. The hot and sour soup was really good. It all seemed like it was made fresh. The shrimp egg rolls were yummy. My wife had the asparagus chicken which was packed full of veggies and the chicken was generous. We aren't from this area so we went here based on reviews and we weren't disappointed. read more

Let me start by clarifying the "as good as it gets" means "as good as it gets in the Eugene/Springfield area." That being said, the food was really very good. We ordered take out, which we did not call in beforehand. The wait was shorter than we expected, 20 minutes at the most.. We ordered asparagus beef, shrimp with pea pods. and chicken lo-mien; steamed rice was included. .There was more than enough for two people, with generous left-overs. Shrimp with pea-pods was delicious, shrimp was tender as were the pea-pods. If you are a fan of Chinese peas, you will like this dish - they don't skimp on the shrimp, or the pea-pods. This dish also include sliced water chestnuts and slices of bamboo, onions and carrots, and the pea pods were crisp and sweet. The chicken Lo-Mein had large pieces of chicken, not overly large but definitely of a good size. The soba noodles were delicious, and the chicken was moist, and tender. The asparagus beef was my favorite. The beef was thinly sliced and extremely tender and flavorful. The asparagus pieces were not just tiny bits of the tips, but included some of the spear as well as the tip. The sauce was delicious. read more

Amazing food! Employees wonderful!! The value for this food is awesome. Be aware I. The restroom they have a sign posted please don't flush toilet paper or any products down the toilet bad plumbing pipes. So it's distrusting to see and have a garbage can for you toilet paper you wipe with filled high right there. I'm not use to that so it's totally gross. read more

We went here the other day on our way through Thurston, this place used to be Chu's but it now has new owners. We stopped in, in hopes it would satisfy our Chinese craving. The service was beyond excellent. They had plenty of customers, so why the two star? Well I am picky. We ordered off of the Mandarin for 2 or more which served plenty of food. The soup was too thick for my liking, I didn't like the flavor of the mandarin chicken, and I was too afraid at that point to try a bite of my guys general tso's chicken. We usually like the white rice with these dishes, but were not given the option and they gave us the pork fried rice which I must say is about the only thing I did end up eating besides a few pieces of the fried shrimp that came with the Mandarin meal. I was hoping to find a diamond in the rough, or maybe it was an off night with so many customers, who knows. read more

The food is ok for a generic Chinese restaurant, but the prices are too high for the quantity of food you get. AND I recently purchased 2 small fried rice portions and when I realized I did not have any cash on me I went to pay with my card and was told they were going to charge me an additional 50 cents for using my card since the purchase was only $6. OUTRAGEOUS! For 20 cents worth of rice I was willing to pay them $6 and they wanted to charge me this ridiculous fee. I refused and went to the bank across the street to get cash to pay for her rice. I have used this restaurant for years and now will not be going back due to this small rip-off fee. read more

I was impressed with the food it was really good, except the appetizer I ordered the Crab puffs 12 for 7.49 asked if the could give 6 and they said no. Thats ok,wanted to try anyway. They were flat and hard and tasted only cream cheese in the center. there was absolutely no puff to it. Never encountered this before anywhere else. It made me very sad.:( However the other food was great!!! So yes I recommend them , just steer clear of the crab (flats)puffs. read more
