I tried the classic ceviche it was great but I wasn't even my favorite thing, the sushi was amazing too, the tuna tartare was excellent and there's so more to try!They have sushi, tuna tartare, crab tostones, lomo salteado, and more! Easy, free lot parking. Nice interior, great for a variety of occasions. Service was very friendly and efficient. They were able to split checks by seat too without fuss, so definitely friendly to larger groups that have splitting requirements. I got a crab tostones, which were very flavorful to start and a red pepper ceviche for the main. They were able to spice it up a bit as an option which was really nice! I felt the main quite refreshing. The presentation was nice, with almost each dish having some sort of orchid or other special touch to it! For the flavors, plating and place I felt the prices pretty reasonable for Miami standard. I was pleasantly surprised with the tasty mango/passion fruit smoothie I got. It felt very fresh. Amazing service and food from start to finish. A group of us went to celebrate our birthdays for the season and we couldn't have picked a better spot. The table fit all 10 of us comfortably. The decor is so cute. Like coastal beach house vibes. We started with some lychee martinis that are soooooo good! I mean they are a must try. What an awesome discovery on a Friday night. Ocean and flame is located in pinecrest/ south miami area. This place was nicely decorated with comfortable pink chairs. The waiter was very helpful, funny and attentive. He provided us with some great guidance on what to order. I started with the crab tostones. They were highly recommended and I see why. If there's one thing Miami doesn't need, it's another Peruvian restaurant. The scene is overcrowded and losing steam as prices grow and plates shrink. Expecting this, I ate beforehand, not just a snack, but a substantial Taiwanese hot pot featuring a Noah's Ark of land and sea creatures. That was a mistake. Ocean & Flame wasn't serving the overdecorated plates from CVI.CHE 105, whose playbook nearly every Peruvian spot in Miami has copied. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was hefty. Take the Quinoa Risotto with Grilled Red Snapper. The protein was a respectable 10-to 12-ounce filet, resting on a neon bed of aji amarillo-laced quinoa risotto. A few slivers of Parmesan cheese sat on the side, ready to be mixed in or left as garnish. I appreciated the option, since seafood and dairy don't mix in my book. Lomo Saltado, a steak dish basted in oyster sauce and served with vegetables, came in a separate casuela, apart from the rice and fries. THIS IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. Otherwise, your fries go soggy and your rice turns into a salt sponge. Tostones de Cangrejo is an appetizer for people who don't like seafood. So heavily seasoned and creamy, it could've been mistaken for any fowl or shellfish. I would've preferred the unadorned crab; someone had clearly sourced and shucked it with care, allowing its quality to shine through. How did I make such a thorough exploration of the menu when I was so full? My dinner dates kept serving me kid plates or samples of their dishes to entice my appetite. I didn't try the "Suchi," but the rolls were so large they could've been mistaken for Korean gimbap. Everyone who ordered juice offered some to their neighbors, eager to share the joy of their purchase. And just when I finally felt ready to eat (during dessert), they were out of the Limon Marquesa. Next time. Happy Hour in Miami is when guys gather to drink affordably while waiting for women to get glammed up and join us. Ocean & Flame is where I want to meet up! Happy Hour is from 4 - 7 PM, and women drink free ALL DAY on Fridays! And not rail wine or select drinks you'd expect, but the entire cocktail and mocktail menu. It was so nice they let us all do separate checks! I had a smoked pisco and credit their creativity for giving me the cocktail with a lit garnish. I came here with a friend to celebrate her birthday over lunch. I've driven by this place a million times and never tried it but my friend heard good things about Dr Limon and wanted to try it out. Upon arriving, I was surprised that this place is quite large inside. It's white and bright with a huge bar. The place was pretty empty for lunch, but once I saw their bar menu and that they have happy hours, I figure they're probably pretty packed from happy hour through evening. We wanted to share items so that we'd try multiple things, and the waiter made some suggestions. We ordered the Tallarín Verde con Churrasco, and one of the classic fish ceviches. Our waiter told us the plates were small and it would not be enough food for us and we needed to order one more item, and so he suggested the causa con pulpo. Don't be fooled.. the dishes here are actually quite large! There's no way we could have eaten all of that food. The ceviche was delicious and we finished that off happily. The churrasco was good, though the tallarin verde was lacking in flavor; it was a large portion and we were unable to finish it. The octopus causa was also a large dish, and comes with a purple olive sauce.. this dish was not at all a hit for us though.. we each took one bite to try it and then we didn't eat it, so that was a waste. Lesson learned here.. If they suggest more than one dish per person, just wait and you can always order more. This is one of my favorite places to order from but their service SUCKS! Do not bother ordering online from their website or even DoorDash. First, I ordered through THEIR WEBSITE and when we went to pick up my food they had given it away to someone else. WHAT?! When this was brought to the managers attention they said to figure it out with Uber/doordash despite using their own website to order. Now, I order through DoorDash for pickup and they give us a hard time saying I need to confirm my order in the app.... When we showed the confirmation in the app I apparently needed to confirm via the app with a button that doesn't exist. We love their original location in West Kendall, but didn't get to try out their Pinecrest outpost till now, as COVID hit soon after they opened two years ago. While parking is always a pain at this plaza, we were pleasantly surprised that the restaurant itself was not full on a weekend night. The place also has better acoustics than the original location - somehow the noise inside that place makes my head ache. For those who still care - the waitstaff all wear masks. As usual, we started with their delicious shot of complimentary leche de tigre and munched on the fried corns as we peruse the menu. The seafood rice cooked in beer is so good. You even got a whole half crab in there! Some people may find crabs too much hassle to eat, but if you are a seafood lover this dish is delish and very reasonably priced. We also ordered the Tabby roll, which while slightly too sweet, is delicious. The jalea, on the other hand, was a disappointment. We almost always order this dish at Peruvian restaurants, and this version is rather dry and overfried. We had this dish before in their other location, so maybe it's just an one off. Dr. Limon Ceviche Bar is new to the Pinecrest area and I am SO HAPPY it's finally here. This was my first time trying out Dr. Limon per the incessant recommendations from my cousin and friends, so on opening night, we went and I couldn't have been happier. We ordered drinks at the bar since there was a lengthy wait for a table. Unfortunately I can't remember the names of the drinks but I remember them being really strong and flavorful. They made the wait much more bearable, to say the least lol Once seated, we wasted no time and ordered the Tostones de Cangrejo, the Tropical Roll and El Loco Calato. All of these were amazing but the Tropical Roll took the cake. Best sushi roll I think I have ever had, ever. As our main course we shared the Tallarín Verde con Churassco and the Lomo Saltado. There were three of us and we shared everything and still left with food. The portions are great and the quality and taste of the food is as fresh as possible. The service was outstanding given it was opening night. Honestly can't wait to return to try other items on the menu. Odd hours are best during the weekend. Food is phenomenal... the Octopus appetizer is big and made extremely well. It has a nice aji Amarillo sauce and it comes with fries.... fries aren't the best but it goes well with the dish. Levanta muerto ceviche was also nice... fresh and spicy but not too much. It is actually a very large ceviche portion... definitely shareable. Last but not least was the pescado a lo macho but instead of fried we had it grilled.
