Totoritas has been around for many many years. They have several locations and one in Peru. That should give you a sign how long they have been around.... typical peruvian dishes served. Many people eating, good sign. They also have lunch specials, but they run out pretty quick, so get there early. From the outside, totally unassuming place, it doesn't look like a restaurant, but once you go in, lots of people eating. Ordered Chicharron de pescado and Chupe de Camarones. The chicharrones were really good, came with a couple of pieces of yuca. The Chupe, I have tried better. It tasted very heavy on the oregano/italian spices, portion is big to share for 2 people. My husband and I were at the West Airport Centre, hungrily deciding to lunch at either Totoritas Restaurant or El Rincon Latino Doral. After briefly checking out the latter, I was reeled into Totoritas from one of their window posters of a delectable looking plate. I had to go inside and ask them what that dish was and decided that I had to order it. This strip mall eatery features Peruvian staples from land and sea in a snug, informal surrounding. Don't expect much from the venue - it' a small, no frills joint. Maximum occupancy can't be more than 60- 80, so beware that this place can easily pack up. If you haven't tried food from Peru yet, this is a great spot to introduce yourself to the cuisine. The menu is extensive with sections for Appetizers, Cebiches, Soups, Chicken, Meat, Fish & Seafood, Peruvian Rice & Beans, and Beverages. To my husband's disappointment, they don't offer many vegetarian items, but they do have a bar for alcoholic beverages. Prices are reasonable. That dish I had to order was the FILETO DE CORVINA AL AJILLO and it did not disappoint. The fish was fried perfectly and the garlic based sauce was savory. I enjoyed my dish with some white rice and a side of plantains shared by my husband. It was a perfect lunch and unforgettably delicious, in my opinion. Service was quick, friendly and accommodating. Most proving restaurants will serve chicken, ceviche, etc. on top of the causa. We had fish tough with a seafood and shrimp sauce, which was good and my friend had a Lomo Saltado which he said was great. When we asked for the traditional Peruvian dessert called Suspiro Limeño the waitress said they did not have it in several months. Always a good place to have Peruvian food. The shopping center is located on 36th street east of the palmetto expressway and is always packed. Parking in not the best but it is not impossible. Food is very fresh and the crowd usually, for lunch, is people who work around the area. Portions are big and shareable. I recommend the chaufa the mariscos (seafood fried rice ). Also good is the ceviche and for those who like trying different things... try the heart anticuchos. (Veal Heart kabobs). They are very flavorful. At Totoritas there is a beer and wine bar with some nice selections at an affordable price. Service here is good and friendly. read more

Who knew there was such a heavy Asian influence in Peruvian cuisine? After visiting Totoritas, I was totally impressed and hope to someday visit Peru. For starters we had the yuca fries served with the Peruvian pepper paste that was reminiscent of guacamole, only it's made with Peruvian yellow peppers. Creamy and delicious! We also tried the ceviche which had the perfect balance of salty, sour, and sweet. I never knew how good ceviche was! The ingredients were fresh and portion was healthy enough to share. For entree we shared the seafood chaufa. It had such a smoky, crisp fried rice flavor that was simply divine. They really put Chinese fried rice to shame. After the meal I cannot wait to go back home to Atlanta and find some good Peruvian cuisine close to home. When I'm back in Miami, I will definitely hit this place up again. read more

Very cute and clean little spot. They offer a fish soup as a complimentary appetizer instead of bread for example like many restaurants. I ordered the leche de tigre as a starter, it honestly was amazing. However, I was a little disappointed in my lomo salteado. The steak tasted a bit weird. It was ok. Also, the sodas are the MINI bottled sodas. Totally not worth the price. I was a little turned off by that and the steak. Prices overall were good though. As far as service, our server must have been new. She didn't even get our drink order, and even when I specifically asked to please bring me a diet coke, she didn't bother to ask what my father wanted. Did she not notice there were two of us sitting there? She was very nice, but clearly no knowledge on serving. I need to grab something good to eat near the airport. The restaurant was renovated and looked clean and nice. My friend ordered the shrimp saltado and I ordered lomo saltado. Both dishes were well seasoned and very tasty. My husband ordered the fish cevice and it was also yummy. However compared to my last visit from a few years ago, all the dishes got smaller and over all prices went up. They gave us a small bowl of fish soup instead of corn. My husband wanted those corn and they charged those corn which is usually given free at Peruvian restaurant. The food is still good here but it used to be more reasonable and they gave us more. I will still stop by when I need to grab something near the airport but there are plenty new restaurants to discover. read more

What a surprise! We were heading out of town and we stayed near the airport in Miami. This is a Peruvian restaurant in a strip mall. The outside windows are black so you can't see inside. We walked in and we were immediately greeted and seated. WeHad an appetizer of Yucca a La Huancaina $8.00. This was delicious I had the Arroz con Camarones and my wife had Chautauqua de Camarones. Both dishes were loaded with fresh seafood and both were very delicious . A superb experience!!! I have never been to Perú, but I live fascinated by the variety, the Asian influence and the savory notes of what is undoubtedly the most unique cuisine in the American continent. Totoritas does not disappoint, it rather sets a new bar for my love of Peruvian food. From the starter, hands down the best Ceviche I ever had in my life, to the Picarones for dessert (a great complement to a cup of eye-opening espresso). For the main course we shared a Chaufa that evoked the subtleties of Cantonese food with high quality seafood and, of course, Lomo Saltado a delicacy that I devoured right down to the last piece of tomato. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, the ambiance is just right, we could carry our conversation even though it was busy. Finally, there was the educational aspect. The mysterious name needed further research and I went on to learn about the Totora, an ancestral reed watercraft that is a mixture of surfboard, paddle board and kayak, used by fishermen in Peru for thousands of years. My only complain is the location, 3 hours and 44 minutes from my house. If only Uber Eats would deliver this far. Now I have another excuse to return to Miami, and I already have a plan... Our entrees were the lomo salteado and the pollo a la huancaina...both were a bit of a letdown. The dishes were bland and had us reaching for the salt and pepper to add flavor. The to go boxes they give are better suited to fit something small, like a hot dog, not a regular sized entree. The service was nice. Attentive, not overbearing. Decor is modern, simplistic. The service was fast when we walked in at 9:00 pm, we were 8, they gave us a table right away, but after we put our order for drinks, took them about 20 min for 8 beers... i mean... beers. And we thought it was gonna be fast because as soon as we came in, they told us we only has one hour because they close at 10pm, when in yelp says they close at 11. Anyway, we just rushed our orders and we ended up having the food at 10:10pm... we order Picante se mariscos, it was good, not as spicy as i would expect but good. No need to explain this, as it is very common in Miami. I ventured here with co-workers for lunch. We were seated in the very back of the restaurant, and 3 of my co-workers translated on our behalf. Although I am not versed in Spanish, I am VERY familiar with Peruvian food. I am fond of lomo saltado and chicha morada, but I decided to try de mariscos ceviche with a side of rice. The serving size was typical of most Latin restaurants, Translation: "Holy hell, how do I finish this alone?!", which is perfect for me. Ceviches, Lomo Saltado as well as a variety of noodle and rice dishes are on offer. As mentioned, from 4-8pm everything on the menu (except Ceviches) is 40% off, yes 40%, I consider this a deal hard to beat. I had been craving Peruvian so I searched to see if any Peruvian places were on Primecard and close to where we were going later hat night. I came across Las Totoritas. They are located in a shopping plaza near doral. We walked in on a Saturday night and were seated and attended promptly. I chose the lomo saltado tacu tacu as my meal. We did not order an appetizer and I quickly regretted it as I saw amazing looking ceviche's passing by to neighboring tables. The lomo saltado tacu tacu was huge, especially the tacu tacu, I was not expecting that for the low price it was. The fries weren't the best ever, felt like they came from a bag, but I'll give them the benefit of doubt. The tacu tacu was delicious! The lomo wasn't the highest quality of meat, but for the price I figured it wouldn't be. My husband ordered the seafood chaufa and it was also huge, I tried some and it was delicious as well. The food took quite a while to reach our table and because we had not ordered an appetizer it felt even longer. I wanted to Love this place, and I do. But the Service has lots of room for improvement. Nothing annoys me more than when they bring the Appetizer and the Entree at the same time. It's even more annoying when your mates get their Entrees before you even get your Appetizer. This place needs to work on Food Preparation Order and Timing. Also, my glass of water did not get refilled until the very end of our meal due to "Rush Hour" from Workplace Lunch people. They never brought the Sauces for the foods either. It was almost a Disaster, but the Food was a complete 180. The Food here was amazing. Everything from the Basic Soup they start you off with to the Amazing Flavored Dessert that you forgot the name of. The Food is enormous for the price. Very good Bang for Buck. I recommend anything and everything on the menu. Make sure you leave room over for Dessert if you start with an Appetizer! You do not want to miss out. First time coming to this restaurant and honestly the worst. The waitress act like if they are too good to be there.....Any Peruvian restaurant that doesn't give "canchita" is suspicious. When we asked for some they didn't bother to tell us it was a charge until we asked for more canchita. We came in at 1pm our food didn't come out till 2pm. When we asked around 1:30 what was up with our dish they said 5 minutes and then came out with free canchita and to wait a little more. The restaurant wasn't even packed. Anyways, our food comes, I ask for soy sauce for the Arroz Chaufa de Mariscos and it looked really good except the whole shrimp that was hidden in my dish with legs and head; anyways I ask for soy sauce for my rice dish and I start pouring it on my rice and....it comes out to be balsamic vinegar! And I had already put it all over my rice. I was shocked that the waitress didn't even know what sauce was in each bottle. I don't think I will ever come here again. Had lunch today with 5 coworkers. I have to say two things I would rate at 5STARS are: the server - Victor and the music. Victor: as pleasent as can be, authentic, polite, and attentive to my group. Music: one of the few (possible the only) Peruvian restaurants that really plays great, soft, and unique Peruvian music. It is shocking when I eat at other peruvian restaurants like Ceviche 105, Pisco y Nazca and all they play is regetton...amazingly dissapointing. Totoritas played great background music that included music from all regions of Peru. This restaurant has been in the Doral area for as long as I can remember...and u know that if a restaurant has been opened for more than 10yrs is because they are doing something right. Yelp, I love you. What's a gal to do when she finds herself staying at an out of the way corner of Miami by the airport and her tummy gets to rumbling? Turn to trusty Yelp for an inexpensive, delicious dinner option. It was just this circumstance that lead me to Las Totoritas recently. My first impression wasn't terribly favorable - the restaurant is in a strip mall and the interior is nothing to write home about. Yelp seemed to strongly suggest the ceviche, so we ordered the Mixto. Holy heck - Yelp wasn't kidding, this was literally the best ceviche I've had in my life. A beautiful, huge plate of mixed seafood was set before us. It had shrimp, fish, mussels, and squid mixed with hominy, dried corn (really yummy!), onions and lime juice. The quality was incredible and everything tasted extremely fresh. Unfortunately my main dish didn't live up to the incredibly high expectations set by the ceviche. I ordered the pollo a la pobre apanado (a pounded breaded chicken breast that reminded me a lot of schnitzel). The chicken itself was fine, but nothing exceptional. It came with a side of rice covered in egg that was surprisingly good, beans, and some really wonderful plantains. The plantains were definitely the high point of the dish, but I'm thinking I probably should have ordered one of the seafood dishes. My dinner buddy had a beef dish and he agreed it was nowhere as good as the ceviche - I think seafood is the way to go here. Overall this was a great dinner in an unexpected corner of Miami. Sadly, now I have a huge craving for their ceviche and I fear it will be a very, very long time before I have it again. Dinner for 2 for under $20 and you walk out stuffed - that is what dinner is like here at Las Totoritas. Peruvian food at it's best - tasty and plentiful. Come during the week before 8.30 and their happy hour meals are no more than $6. Recently my friend and I had dinner - fried fish for her and lomo saltado for me, 2 cokes and the bill was $13. You can't beat it and in my opinion their lomo saltado is the best! They might be hard to find if you are not familiar with the area but I tell people to keep an eye out for the Wendy's right by the Palmetto and they are int he strip mall right behind the Wendy's. Even if you do not speak Spanish do not worry, the staff are great about figuring out what you want to order. Service is fast and reliable, I have never had a bad meal here and that is with almost a monthly visit for the last three years.
