A great spot for Cuban sweet treats, savory snacks like empanadas or potato balls, or meals like Cuban sandwiches. I tried the tres leches latte and it was really good. If you have a sensitivity to sweet food it may be too sweet. However I enjoyed it. I tried a beef potato ball that had good potato and beef portions, and beef empanada which was delicious. We dropped in today to give this place a shot. And omg, everything we got was SO GOOD! Not gonna lie, the fried potatoes here are better than Portos. Sorry, not sorry. They also have one of the best chocolate chip cookies in town!!! Crunchy on the outside with just the right of moisture in the inside. Way better than Crumbl. Tres Leches Latte: very little coffee flavor, so faint for a second I thought I just ordered a glass of milk. Didn't really enjoy this drink. Sounded yummy but fell flat. Vegan empanada: yummy. Love that this place offers a vegan option, definitely flavorful. Chicken Curry empanada: this one was my fav. Super tasty and would order again. Potato Beef Ball/ Potato Chicken Ball: both are super delicious!!! I liked the potato beef ball more than the chicken. Would def recommend the potato beef ball. Absolutely love this bakery! Delicious empanadas with variations of ingredients packed with flavor. The Cuban is my favorite as well as the ropa vieja, must try! All their coffees are fabulous and customer service is always great! Small quiant clean cafe with limited outdoor seating. Had such a good breakie here at Obra Bakery. They mostly do to-go but they have a couple tables outside if you want to sit and eat. All the baked goods looked amazing and honestly it was hard to choose lol. I tried the empanadas and loved every single one, especially the curry chicken. I feel like this place is a premium version of Porto's at a really affordable price. Love both places, but what I like about this establishment is the grab and go vibe. It always feels like I'm on vacation elsewhere when stepping into the place. I love the Chicken Square Pie. It's honestly the best thing on the menu to me. The service is also fairly decent given how busy it is. Definitely recommend coming here. But fair warning, be prepared to spend. It's hard to pick one or two, you'll want everything. read more

Service was ok, the potato ball was delicious, so many pastries I wanted to try because they looked delicious but the cost here was a bit much. Although they give you free 2 empanadas for every dozen you buy... that dozen will cost you at $60. This place wants to replicate Portos selection a la Long Beach style. But you have to remember that what kept Portos to keep expanding was not the quality although it's great but the affordable cost. They started out small and commanded expansion because the cost kept low made them grow. Something to consider to keep afloat nowadays. Although you can get a good flavor of their potato balls, it will also cost you double the price. The empanadas were also ok, the dough is a bit non flaky. They had more options to choose from but almost at $5 a piece. I would have really tried more but I just can't help thinking the cost was going to double everything if I can get half the price for all from Portos. It's a small space but there are seating available outside but you have to fight for them if you eat here. Would I come back to try the desserts, perhaps not as pricing can be an arm and leg if you buy a lot here. read more

Standout for this bakery is the quality of the savory items. I reccomend ever for all the Porto's fanatics we were blown away by the beef ball, check out that photo! Obra! How I had so much confidence in this place being good. Let's get into the tea of it all. I came as a first timer with my mother because she had requested to come here. I didn't realize I had this place saved in my yelp as well! So it looks like we both have been meaning to try this place out. What was ordered: Ropa Vieja empanada Beef and potato empanada Cuban empanada Breakfast sandwich Chicken potato ball Beef potato ball Iced tres leches latte I ended up personally trying the breakfast sandwich and tres leches latte on site. The breakfast sandwich was not something I would order again. I believe the ketchup they added overpowered any other flavor in the sandwich. It felt more sweet than anything-- I was expecting more savory. The beef and potato empanada was nothing special to me, the dough felt a little dry and old almost. There wasn't much flavor for me to really enjoy it either. It felt like I had more of a potato empanada than anything. The Cuban empanada was amazing! This one I would come back to order again. I absolutely loved it. I added the chipotle mayo to it which complemented it so well. The ropa vieja empanada !??? THIS ONE! This is the one I'd easily buy a dozen of. This was the most flavor packed delicious empanada I've ever had. The meat was tender, had the right amount of salt and seasoning to it. The chimichurri sauce was the best friend to this empanada. Chicken potato ball..? Not a fan. No salt or seasoning, I felt like I was eating fried mashed potatoes. But that beef potato ball?? Oh yeah. That's the one. I would eat 6 easy. No problem. Absolutely beautifully made, don't change the recipe please cause that beef potato ball is gorgeous. The tres leches latte I adjusted to have 2 pumps of sugar free vanilla instead of 3 pumps full sugar vanilla. This I would come back for. It was an absolutely scrumptious coffee! And they put light ice without request so you really get a bang for your buck. Customer service was amazing! The cashier was absolutely the sweetest and patient when deciding on what to order. My toddler took one bite, made an alarming face, gagged and said OW, as he spit up. He immediately stopped eating the cookie we had just purchased. I was excited to try this place because of the positive reviews of their baked goods. It was my first and is my last time going, I will not be returning or recommending to friends and family. Inside the cookie was a sharp piece of black plastic, about the size of a dime. This place is soooo good. I usually stop by after my round of Gold. Be ready to wait, mornings usually always has a huge line. The line is not the issue, its the waiting for the order to be out together and called up. Place is small with few tables outside. Great coffee great sandwiches. The beef and chicken deep fried balls were legendary with a perfect outer crunch and a warm melt in your mouth center. I tried one of each empanada and they were soft, flavorful, and well seasoned. The baked beef and baked jalapeño empanadas were so good. Do not forget the cilantro dipping sauce. It is the cherry on top. This place was overall really good! I ordered 3 empanadas. Beef, chicken curry, and chicken teriyaki (not in photo) They were all pretty good, a bit dry but still tasty. I thought they were a bit pricey but overall I don't regret getting them. My favorite was the chicken curry and least favorite was the chicken teriyaki since it was a bit drier. The service was good overall, and it was a nice ambiance with good music playing in the background! Came here for a quick bite and was it didn't disappoint! We went in the evening around 4:30 on Saturday and had ordered online for pickup but when we showed up there wasn't any wait. We got 5 empanadas- chicken, beef, curry chicken, ropa vieja, and bbq pork. They were fresh and crispy. Our favorites were the ropa vieja and the curry chicken which had the most flavor. The beef and chicken were good but definitely needed sauce, which they also provided! The cilantro sauce and green salsa were excellent. We also got one chicken and one beef potato ball to share. They were HUGE. Much larger than expected and just as tasty as they looked! This was plenty of food/more than enough for two people. Stopped in for my first time today because I know someone that says it is a better version of Porto's and honestly I thought it was pretty great. They have a large selection of drinks, empanadas, sandwiches, pastries, and a whole bunch of other things. It's a to go spot and everything that we ordered was ready pretty fast. It's pretty small on the inside, so only a few people can be inside at a time, but the line seems to move pretty fast from our experience. It's also attached to a shopping mall so there is a large amount of free parking right in front. I would definitely recommend and plan to be back in the future to try more items. read more

I am honestly surprised I haven't heard of this place sooner--people will compare it to Porto's but keep in mind it's quite different, with a few familiar items (in a good way!). Came here on a weekday around lunchtime and there wasn't much of a wait for food (in fact they already ran out of guava-cheese pastries by then). So many options for everything on the menu! One of the standouts for me were their beef balls - which can be compared to Porto's famous potato balls. However, I actually think the beef balls at OBRA are better. They have some cheese in them as well and overall have a much more complex umami flavor in my opinion compared to almost chili-like beef in the Porto's potato ball. Not sure if it was just this batch but there seems to be a lot more potato than the beef filling though in comparison. Would get again though still! Also got a tres leches latte which is one of their best sellers. It almost reminded me of a vietnamese coffee with the clear tres leches flavor, pretty unique drink. In interior is super cute and it has an "open outdoor" feel to it since the counter and entrance are essentially and open wall to the outside walkway. They have a set of chairs and tables you can sit down and eat in outside as well which would make it a nice date spot/place to meet up with a friend. Definitely have to come back and try their selection of cheesecakes! It's nice that you can get their cake/cheesecakes by the slice. Super big menu of sandwiches too that I'll have to try. read more

We bought the beef and chicken empanada and beef balls (need more filling than potato) and it is very good the paella empanada has an after taste seafood so im not trying that again the empanada dough doesnt fall apart and its crispy and tasty it was our first time they gave us free sauce we were expecting another free pastry. This was my first time at OBRA. I was very impressed with the atmosphere and presentation of the food. I purchased the savory box and got the breakfast empanada the chicken empanada, and the Cuban empanada. The Cuban empanada was delicious, as was the beef potato ball 10/10. Unfortunately I received the chicken curry empanada instead of just chicken. Sadly, the breakfast empanada was awful. I couldn't even tell what was inside of the empanada. Both my daughter and I spit it out. The ingredients appeared to be a brown paste with no evidence of scrambled eggs or bacon. I'm disappointed but would want to try it again as much of the food was delicious and would have liked to give a higher rating. I would like to try it again, but feel it could be a gamble with what's inside. May be best to eat food there in the future read more

The gorgeous display case of cookies, empanadas, balls, and mini pies looked so tempting.  The workers packed everyone's food to-go, but we grabbed counter seating to eat everything while they were still hot and fresh! *Beef Potato Ball: These are way bigger than Porto's! Love the hot, melty cheese. I would've preferred more meat filling, but it's still pretty yummy. My favorite item here so far. *Guava Cheese Roll: Stale crust. Little filling. *Empanada with Ropa Vieja: Dense, stale crust. Tasty, but dry meat filling. *Cuban Sandwich: Not your traditional Cubano. Juicy, thick cuts of pork, mozzarella, ham, pickles, mustard, and green sauce wedged between ciabatta bread. We were way too full to try the Tres Leches Latte, so I'll have to wait until next time. The pastries all looked amazing but our goal was to try the food. Beef & potato empanada was good, didn't have a ton of flavor. Chicken empanada was not favored by anyone in our family. Vegan- this was surprisingly the best of the bunch IMO. The potatoes balls I couldn't eat but hubs said another well known establishment was way better. It's very small inside with some bar stool seating and a few tables available right outside the bakery. The staff here is so nice! Since it was my first time she gave me suggestions on the best sellers. I decided to try the Tres Leches Iced Latte, it was really good but just a little too sweet for me personally. I also tried the potato balls which were very tasty! Crispy on the outside and lots of flavorful potato inside. I got one beef and one chicken and they were equally very delicious.
