There are other food vendors here like Colossus bakery that are staples. I want to come back next week for the tortilla Espanola vendor. Being the end of summer, there were some amazing hybrid fruits that were in the market. I can't even tell you what the fruits were because the farmers cross pollinated a bunch of stuff to make delicious stuff.

It happens each Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM. This market is filled with all your essentials. Tons of fruits, veggies, cheeses, meats, baked goods, flowers, house plants, dips, and more. There was even a bagel spot with a line about 50 people deep. I am my best self at a farmers market, but often leave with an empty wallet. I snagged hummus, kombucha, green juice, and a floral arrangement in one visit. A few things that make this spot incredibly special: 1. there's a plethora of parking and it's free for the first 2-hours. 2. They literally have a dog valet where you can drop off your pet before shopping the local vendors. Quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. 3. It's literally hosted at the marina with a gorgeous view of the boats and water. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon picnic with your farmers market goodies. Highly highly recommend adding this to your weekend itinerary.

The owner of this new take-out empanada eatery, which just opened a couple weeks ago without any fanfare and sits right next to McDonalds at 620 Pacific Coast Highway in Seal Beach, is not only an accomplished chef who graduated from the Culinary Academy in San Francisco, but he also prepared healthy menus for entire school districts in both northern and southern California prior to the pandemic. His name is Jim Dumars and he's a Long Beach native who grew up just a stone's throw away in Bixby Hill. He makes his deliciously flaky sourdough crust from scratch every morning and the inner ingredients range from freshly baked egg, potato and cheese to fancier recipes like peanut chicken curry, BBQ pork and jalapeno black bean. Twelve wonderfully distinct flavors in all and they are open from 7am--3pm Monday through Friday. The lunch menu usually becomes available around 10:30 am, but you better get there before a line forms. Word is going to get out on this place. They will eventually open on Saturday but right now, closed on the weekends. But wait! Just as impressive as the taste of these delicious mini meals is the unpretentious price: only $5 per empanada and only $3 for a tall cup of freshly brewed coffee or hand crafted soda. You won't find empanada pricing like that anywhere on Pacific Coast Highway throughout the entire state of California, and it shows confidence in Dumars' assertion that if you come once, you'll be back. So happy I dropped by this new restaurant! I love empanadas and thought I'd give them a try. The crust on the empanada was the best I've ever eaten. The selection of empanada fillings were mouth watering. I tried the feta and spinach and bbq pork. All I can say is they are fabulous! Can't wait to try the others. I'll definitely be back soon. I don't usually write reviews for places whatsoever, but I was thoroughly wowed by the empanadas that they sell here! I had the meatball empanada and they packed a lot of flavor and quantity into it. I've been to other places that sell empanadas for double the price and half the size. But after these, I've found a newfound joy for empanadas! read more
