It's the new kid in town, at least at The Hanger. I was hoping for a decent empanada, but they were way cheesier than I expected for the traditional recipe. Nevertheless, they were still pretty good.

Newly opened spot inside the hanger. Fairly simple, menu on the wall and above. Display full of a variety of empanadas. Small kitchen, staff was cool not much variations. They offer empanadas for all preferences, including vegetarian. There's common seating area for dining options. I had the chicken, Chipotle chicken, Rajas, and beef empanadas. They had great flavors, however, the shells were a bit too hard, hollow and not full . One collapsed entirely first bite. So yes, need more filling pls. Not bad at all, just better quality for the cost.

I'm so glad there's a new spot for me to eat from @LBX. I forgot to take a pic of menu, there's something for everyone. I'm picky and I really enjoyed the spinach and cheese empanada, I appreciated that it isn't spicy. My friend had the rajas and said it was ok, "it didn't taste like rajas, could taste better, the chimichurri made it taste better" And the beef one was ok. To drink I had their lemonade mate, excellent and you need to ask for ice bcs it's not as cold from dispenser. I will be back to taste another.

Malbec beef is too sweet but pretty good otherwise

Friendly service. Even though this is just counter service, the gals there really make you feel welcome. The food? Not so good. First thing you might notice is that the empanadas are not hand wrapped. It's obvious they use a press to seal the dough together. That, in itself, isn't a big deal, I guess. I just have never had empanadas that were not hand wrapped so it just felt wrong. Then I took a bite and realized it's low quality dough. Yes when trying empanadas, I always take a bite of the pastry right in the corner first. It actually tastes and feels a lot like a saltine cracker. Also these are baked, not fried. Again, it's a bit odd for my reference point but it's probably a legit way to cook empanadas in some cultures. The fillings was a varied mess. The Margherita filing was just awful. Don't know what was actually in it but it just looked and tasted like they mixed mayonnaise with pasta sauce and call it a filling. Totally gross. The spicy beef was decent. Although I think the chile helped it quite a bit. I mean, if it wasn't spicy it wouldn't be worth eating The malbec beef was interesting. The gal at the counter recommended it, saying it was the most popular amongst customers. I thought it was way too sweet but otherwise it was pretty delicious. So I'm giving it 3 stars because some of the fillings are good. But the pastry is just not worth getting fat.

The Arrocito Norteno ( a seafood rice dish was excellent) and the Lomito Saltado (sauteed beet tenderloin with onions, tomatoes, cilantro steamed rice and hand cut fries) the beef was exceptionally tender and should not be missed. The staff was friendly but while the traffic was slow last night so they were focused on housework rather than our needs. But they were very friendly and helpful. Overall it's a gem of a restaurant. It was very accomodating since everywhere else was packed! We wanted to find some shade as well since it was 90 degrees outside. In parallel to this event, there was a city event going on at the same time called Beach Streets. That event was awesome as well! We were hungry so we posted up here from our bike ride. My wife and I got ID'd just to come in. Why ID if it is a restaurant, did not make sense? We did not have a host to sit us. Sit as you see was the service provided. Once we sat the waiter took our order. We wanted Sangria but come to find out they had nothing in stock. A restaurant that is Spanish desent and has FIFA world cup soccer being televised with out Sangria wine. Big surprise there!. We ordered a pitcher of Margarita. 10 mins to drop off and took another 17 minutes for our waiter to take our order. Ordered ceviche, empenadas and Lomo Saltado. All received within a 15 min time frame. Not going to complain about the taste, all is good. Presentation and billing is my problem from my dissapointment statements listed below. To get to the point, my complaints of dissapointment in details. This place is expensive!! The presentation of the food delivered was nothing special. The quanity being served for $26 a plate did not do justice. $16 appetizers of Ceviche and Empenadas. The margarita pitcher was $55 and it was filled mostly with ice. Lacked liquor, a bit stingy on their serving. Received our bill, they automatically but a 20% service charge tacked on my bill! Keep in mind It is only two people not a party of 6. I want the option to decide myself if the waiter is worthy of a good tip with provided service. The guy was hustling trying to take everyones orders. What type of management understaffs on a FIFA World Cup Championship game? Just one guy taking care of the entire restaurant is not acceptable. He was nearly non existence on our stay. Also, what type of managent doesnt stock alcohol up for the big game? The place looks and feels runned down. Tables looked old, restaurant was hot. Plastic Forks and spoons provided with one napkin. Lol. Just full of dissapointments. My final bill came out to $140. The nail in the coffin for me to rate this place only 1 star was the automatic service charge attached. I disagree with this restaurants billing policy. They stronghold you to pay for service, even if the service is bad. Overall, the taste is good, but if your going to charge me $26 for a plate, at least give me some silverware and clean my tables. I have been here a few times since the early 2000s. This place needs a makeover. Tables are dirty outside and inside. Charging for high quality prices for a place that doesnt deliver the ambiance. Total dissapointment on my visit. "My experience only." Ask them to remove the service charge. Complete BS

I was honestly pretty disappointed when I was told I wouldn't be able to wait for an outside table. Then Michael came through. He noticed I was by myself and saw an opportunity to fit me into a spot outside next to the band that apparently nobody else wanted. Since I was solo, he made it happen -- and that small gesture completely made my experience. That's what great hospitality is about. When there's an opportunity to make a customer happy without negatively affecting anyone else, you make it happen. Michael could have easily just left things as they were, but instead he paid attention, found a solution, and turned what started as a disappointing situation into an amazing Friday night. Sitting outside next to the band with the summer weather and the view ended up being exactly the experience I was hoping for. Michael, thank you so much. I genuinely appreciate what you did for me. Maya Fuego, this is most definitely the type of employee you want to keep around. Someone who sees an opportunity to make a guest's night better and actually takes it. Thank you again, Michael.

We sat on their outside patio and it was a beautiful view of the ocean and Queen Mary. That was 10/10! We were given their menu and to our surprise, it was VERY LIMITED! So that was a bummer. I think at that point, I was ready to go. My fiancé was such a great sport about it though and we decided to stay and make the best of the situation. I will say, service was incredible. Everyone was super nice and that made staying worth it. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer, a caesar salad with chicken and one with salmon, and the steak with potatoes plate. My toddler wanted pancakes and our waitress was so accommodating and went to ask the cafe if they could make him some before closing. Thankfully they were able to and my toddler got his pancakes. The food was good, but nothing amazing. We were left underwhelmed and for such a perfect location, I wish they had more options. They did gift my fiancé a dessert for his bday. Churros and ice cream...soooo good! The place itself is stunning. It's such a fun vibe and I'd come back with my fiancé to have drinks and enjoy the view only.

It was a late lunch so I called to see if a reservation is needed for 2 ppl. Not at all so we jumped into the car. Such a wonderful restaurant in an unassuming plaza. Lots of parking. There's an outdoor seating area and a good size restaurant inside. We were greeted as we walked in. Btw, the HUGE glass door entrance, I love. There Were a few open tables and we were welcome to sit where we wanted to. Two classes of water were brought to the table and a waiter came with the menu. My mom is vegetarian and I am not. I asked the waiter for his vegetarian dishes and he provided me a pasta dish. That was exactly what my Mom was wanting. Linguine with a light pink sauce with mushrooms and you can add zucchini, bell pepper and broccoli. I ordered a sangria. That was just amazing itself. And a linguine dish with shrimp. Warm, sliced French bread and a small dish of butter was brought out first that was so good. Usually the bread and butter that is brought at small restaurants like these could be just mediocre or not good at all. This was warm and just tasty. We also ordered a Caprese. The plate came out with big chunks of mozzarella tomatoes, and both were sitting on a marinated pesto covered set of basil leaves. That was so good. The combination of the vinaigrette, mozzarella basil tomato pesto was exactly what we were looking for so refreshing. Our entrées were huge for $20 a plate. We had to take 3/4 of it home. That was so not expected. Pasta and the pasta sauce were amazing. Very freshly made. Dishes were made to order only and not sitting around. I asked if they were doing something special for birthdays and I pointed to my mom next to you know, the waiter came out with fresh homemade Tim. They also sing to my mom wish she was so sweet. We started at the bar with Ernesto, who was wonderful. He recommended the Moscow Mule because they make their ginger syrup in-house, and it was delicious. The red sangria was also a hit. For happy hour food, we tried the spicy beef empanadas, 5 oz skirt steak (entraña) with peppercorn sauce, and cebiche mixto. Everything was great. Our only mistake was not ordering fries to dip into that peppercorn sauce! After happy hour, we moved to our table and met our server Eder. He was sweet, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine. He made an excellent wine recommendation to pair with our dinner and started us off with complimentary warm baguette and classic chimichurri. For dinner, we ordered the Tabla Mixta with ribeye and short ribs. The meats arrived sizzling on cast iron and were cooked perfectly medium-rare. It came with three chimichurri sauces, with the garlic chimichurri being my favorite. Honestly, the meats were seasoned so well they didn't even need sauce. We also tried the Arroz con Mariscos and added Argentinean chorizo. The octopus, mussels, clams, shrimp, and scallops were all cooked perfectly. The rice was a little too wet for my preference since I enjoy the crispy, scorched bottom of a Spanish-style paella, but the seafood itself was excellent. The ambiance is lively and can get pretty loud, so we had to speak a little louder than normal. My only real complaint was the temperature in the main dining room. It was extremely warm throughout our visit, even with the AC supposedly running at full power. Interestingly, the area near the restrooms was noticeably cooler. This was really the only thing keeping our experience from being 5 stars. Parking around Green Street can be challenging, but street parking is free. We got lucky and found a spot down the block. There's also a paid public lot near Green and Mentor. Overall, Malbec delivered excellent food and even better service. Ernesto and Eder were both fantastic and really elevated our experience. We'll definitely be back for happy hour and dinner with friends and family.
