I feel like there's not enough substance. The bowl was barely half full and lacking toppings. Food was average.

Located along El Camino somewhere in Koreatown, parking is limited but I'd say enough for the size of the restaurant. There are a few reserved spaces specifically for the restaurant. Service was alright mainly due to the fact that the servers spoke little to no English making it a little difficult to communicate. 8. Korean style sausage soup with napa - U Guh Ji Soon Dae Guk Bab (5/5): served in piping hot, the soup was so flavorful. For me the spice level was perfect. The sausage was so tender and the cabbage was good too. Tap to pay is not accepted. Overall, Obok Restaurant is a great place for some delicious Korean food.

Ask for Soon Dae Gook Jeong Sik. You get the soup, the side dish and variety of Soondae meats.

Ask for Soon Dae Gook Jeong Sik. You get the soup, the side dish and variety of Soondae meats. It's how my dad used to like back in 2000s. Wow!

I found this little mom and pop shop in a shopping center. It's a small place with a dozen tables. Everything was in Korean and I heard only Korean from a lot of the people there. I didn't know what to order, so the lady recommended the beef soup that came with the usual kimchi and other sides with rice. Everything was very good and tasty! I really liked the kimchi and sprouts that had some spice and heat but not too much. Soup came out scalding hot with some noodles. Very nice staff. I felt like my aunt or grandma was feeding me.

small local Korean soup in a small center. Soup was tasty except the tiny tiny tiny pieces of beef. I think than ran out and beef, I expected more hearty pieces. sides weee also good (i had two kimchi and radish). I would go back if in the area again.

unassuming mom n pop place esque place. i LOVE their gopchang bokkem and japchae. i normally wouldn't order japchae but honestly theirs was one of the best japchae ive ever had! i wish the price wasn't sooooo expensive on doordash tho then id def get food from here more.

I came by to try some Korean blood sausage. It was ok - I don't think I'm a huge fan of blood sausage as I don't eat it very often (this was my second time) and it may be an acquired taste. The restaurant itself is very small so come during off hours to get a good seat. Lots of traditional items on the menu!

Small mom and pop shop with stellar service. The beef soondubu was outstanding and came with rice and side dishes. Barley infused drinking water, crisp Cass beer. Overall above and beyond in terms of quality experience and I would definitely come back with friends and fam for home style Korean cooking.

Definitely a hole in the wall spot, but I think they have some of the best soondae in the bay area. The spicy cabbage soondae soup is so good! Tried the intestine tofu soup, which was also flavorful and delicious. For those who enjoy chicken feet, they're chicken feet is delectable - it's coated in a spicy sauce and they give you gloves to eat with it. If you're a fan of intestines, the soondae/intestine combo would be perfect. Their menu also has your more common Korean options like galbi, jap chae and combo tofu soup. Would recommend and they usually don't have a wait :')

Very good banchan, just has a very old school flavor.

I really enjoyed coming to this restaurant to get my soup fix on, as I have been under the weather a LOT lately and Korean soups just hit the spot. Unfortunately, my appetite did not allow me to order the soondae platter with my soup so I have yet to sample their trademark dishes such as soondae guk, spicy soondae guk, or soondae. However, the beef and cabbage soup really did hit the spot. They put those ridiculously tiny little shrimp into the stock and while I usually don't care for seafood stocks with land animals in my soup the flavors were definitely balanced and the soup was hearty without being heavy, flavorful without being salty, and had plenty of fun goodies floating around like bulgogi chunks, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and radish. I want to come back to try the soondae sets of course but the goat stew and spicy soondae guk seem to be very popular as well. Very friendly husband and wife couple running the show and working their tootsies off. I was able to just relax and take my time nursing my "I'm so sick" mentality. I wasn't too sick to hit up Sulbing on the corner of the same plaza for a smoothie after; I had to cool down on a summer day after that hot bubbling soup, naturally.

this spot is such a gem. we enjoyed everything that we ordered. definitely would recommend the soybean noodles and the soondae gukbap. if you're a fan of intestines I recommend getting the combo intestine platter. the staff are super nice and they helped with seasoning our dishes. it's a small restaurant but service is pretty fast.

The meat is always fresh and high quality, and the atmosphere, vibe, and ambiance make every visit enjoyable. Every time I come here, Judy is there to welcome us with a smile. She always makes us feel at home, especially after a long day at work. Judy is the best! She goes above and beyond to make sure every visit is enjoyable and always checks on our table to make sure everything is perfect. The entire staff is friendly, the service is excellent, and the food never disappoints. Out of all the Korean BBQ spots in the area, this is the one I recommend the most. They even have an awesome happy hour with $1 pints, and the staff cooks the meat for you, so all you have to do is relax, eat, and enjoy. Service was good. food was delicious! the bulgogi was generous portions given the $$. The kal bi was delicious. We got the lettuce wrap (aka leaves) glad we got it because it made it feel healthier. banchan: came with: square little rice paper wraps (not as healthy as lettuce but something), kim chee, sprouts, marinated onions with peppers (spicy! but I'm a wimp, any spice is too much for me), jap chae I didn't like the self-order on tablet. (at least it wasn't order off phone, I really hate that) at other restaurants if you order enough, they "service you" free steamed egg. Here I had to buy it myself. negative, there was a dripping pipe on the floor, and we had to point it out for them to wipe it, but then it dripped more. was that water? or grease? who knows. we had to suggest they put a towel so I didn't have to stare at it creeping towards me all night. fun korean pop music in background. cheaper feeling ambiance. definitely coming again for the food and minimal line. didn't like that tip defaulted to 20% minimum (then 23%, 28%) but at least they calculate that pre-tax.

It was actually the perfect group to test it. One of us had marinated crab in Boston and loved it, another tried it in Busan and wasn't a fan, and I was a complete first timer. We ordered the Soy Sauce Marinated Raw Crab, Beef Short Rib Soup, and the summer special Hwe Naengmyeon (Spicy Cold Raw Fish Mixed Noodle). The restaurant is spacious, and seeing that most of the customers were Korean definitely gave us high expectations. Service was friendly and our food came out in about 10-15 minutes. The raw crab came with a bowl of rice, quail egg, fish roe, roasted seaweed, seaweed salad, and pickled daikon. My friend mixed everything together for us like a pro. Soy marinade was well balanced, the crab had a soft, jelly-like texture and tasted really fresh, not gimmicky at all. My friend who didn't enjoy this dish in Korea actually ended up liking this version, and my other friend even said it was better than the one she had in Boston. As for me, I really enjoyed trying it for the first time. That said, it's definitely an acquired taste and probably not for everyone. If you're not ready to eat raw crab, I'd actually recommend trying the soy marinade with soft tofu or boiled eggs first because the sauce itself is delicious. The Beef Short Rib Soup came with tender meat, but the broth was just okay. Not bad, just not something I'd order again. The Hwe Naengmyeon, on the other hand, was really refreshing. It definitely had a spicy kick, the noodles were soft yet chewy, and the raw fish had such a unique texture that I honestly don't know how to describe it. Served cold with fresh veggies and half a boiled egg, it was perfect for a hot day. Also, banchan were delicious and free refill, our favorite was the Konjac noodle mayo salad and Gyeran Mari (Korean Egg Roll). Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try soy marinated raw crab, and I can definitely see myself ordering it again. Such a fun first experience, and I'll be back to explore more of the menu.

It's quite large with many tables and chairs inside, and it's nice and brightly lit. Service was quick and efficient, and they moved us to a larger table after hearing how much we were ordering We definitely overordered and got a seafood pancake to start, the smaller size of bossam, a kimchi tofu soup, and a beef bibimbap. The bossam took a while to come out, and by then we were already pretty full off of the pancake, soup and bibimbap. Service sizes are generous, and this definitely would've been enough for 4+ people to share. There was a great assortment of different banchan - my favorite is the jelly! The pancake was nice and crispy, with a good amount of seafood, the bibimbap had a great amount of crispy rice at the bottom and the tofu soup was comforting and exactly what we were looking for. The bossam had a lot of meat - I kind of wished there was more radish and napa to go with the meat, but it was tender, not too fatty, and satisfying. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Jang su jang is still a classic staple, and has a delicious offering for almost any korean craving you could want. It's a little pricey, but comparable to other options in the area with consistent quality that makes it worth it in my opinion.

By the time we were done with our second item, we asked them to just not bring out the third item in our combo because it was clear they hadn't even begun to prepare it because they forgot again. Despite only receiving two of the three items in our combo over the span of our two hours, they still charged us the full $73 for the combo. Additionally, they kept bringing out the wrong items and also brought out things twice when we had already received it. Food overall was undeniably bad for how it was priced. The quality of the pork in the katsu was extremely tough and stringy, not to mention how it was absolutely drowned in sauce. Kimchi fried rice was wet, as it was drowned in sauce and oil, barely fried. Chicken wings were also drenched in oil and sauce, and it was soggy, rubbery, and overall terrible.
