Fantastic restaurant/bourbon bar in south Lexington. Food was very good (had a delicious steak) and the bourbon selection was far better. Prices were a bit varied but the options made finding something quite easy, with some of their barrel picks being great bang for the buck choices. Appreciated the tablet menu which appeared to be 90%+ accurate in terms of what was available. Service was very friendly and prompt. Kicker was probably the fact that they sold their barrel picks to go at reasonable retail prices. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a bourbon bar with great food. Will definitely be back in the future. read more

If you're looking for elevated American dining then OBC Kitchen is where you should go! Our server, Nick, was very welcoming and funny - he gave really great recommendations as well like the super smash bros cocktail and the fried green tomatoes appetizer! I'm not sure how long this theme of cocktails will be going because he said it changes every few months but I recommend you go soon to try any of their video game themed cocktails! Also, our food in general was delicious and super filling - we of course had to try the bacon in a cup and it did not disappoint! This is a super cool spot and I look forward to bringing my family here when the come to visit! read more

My daughter and I stopped in. She had a salad and I had a burger. We both agree that each one was one of the best we'd ever had

Great little steakhouse in a strip next to another great little steakhouse. Nice selection of bourbon. Quality cocktails. Steaks cooked perfectly. Honestly, it's a cocktail bar that serves pretty good steaks as a side gig. Attentive service. Bartenders are geniuses. Classy vibe. Except for the tablets as menus. Not my jam. Kind of a turn off. I don't go to a nice restaurant to stare at a screen. read more

I rarely go out of my way to leave reviews but this one was a must. The food is absolutely phenomenal, almost everything is made in house and you can tell. The craftsmanship and love put into the cocktails and bites does not go unnoticed. Service was also 10/10 - they were able to give detailed info on all the drinks and dishes. We tried the bacon in a glass (the peanut butter is so good), house salad (shockingly amazing lol), and the steak and cake. The steak was juicy and cooked to perfection, crab cake had loads of crab meat in it and was fresh. Cocktails are amazing as well - tons of selection and a seasonal menu. Don't skip out on this place! read more

I can only vouch for the brunch but it was great! They had a special for $5 mimosas and for anyone not wanting to drink they had the best orange juice I've ever had! Ordered the chicken and waffles (chicken a little too crispy/almost burnt) which were fresh and hot! A friend had the burrito and said it was a great pick and supper filling. They have fresh, made in house biscuits for the table before your meal and was probably the best part. I'll be back again to give it another try and see if I can bump the review up to 5 stars read more

In town for the weekend and made reservations based off awesome reviews... SO HAPPY I did. I would drive 5 hours just to eat here again! We had Friday dinner reservations, loved it so much, booked reservations for Sunday brunch! Service was incredible- shout out to Chris & Martha, made the experience even better. Food: they bring ya fresh bread & butter at dinner, biscuits butter & jam at brunch! We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer both visits, it sings flavors in your mouth (cheese, bacon jam, so freakin good). You have to get the fried green tomatoes if you come!!! For mains at dinner we had cola braised short ribs that came with cheesy grits and the tomato burrata cheese salad. Cocktails were top notch and the vibe of the overall bar is great. Brunch: BLOODY MARYS! Came out with a show! They are smokey and a meal in itself. Crab cake Benedict & mom got the classic American breakfast but it was delish. I can't rave enough about this place and if I ever am in Lexington again, I know where to go. Book your reservations ASAP!!! read more

Food was okay. Bacon in a glass was cold. Meatballs lacked flavor. Fried Chicken was the best thing. Drinks: Spicy Margarita was undrinkable. All Cayenne and Tabasco. Being in KY, figured a Manhattan was safe. Way too sweet. Been here before and it was better. Maybe a new bartender this time. Not sure. Carsons is a safer bet. read more

I was able to get a same day reservation for 5 people. Don't pass this place up! Go now! The service was great for a busy night with several large parties. Our waiter even had two different people come to our table to talk about the bourbon options and help create different flights for those in my group. I got the whiskey sour and it was easily the best whiskey sour I've ever had. The star of the show to me was the fried green tomatoes though. The bacon jam, the cheese, the thick fried green tomato, all perfection. I will be thinking about these fried green tomatoes for a long time. I also got the Chicken in County Biscuits, it was good, it didn't need the top biscuit and could use a little more hot pepper honey, imo. My group had the short ribs, catfish, shrimp & grits and everyone walked away soo happy! Next time I'm in the Lexington area, I will be back! read more

This was the best experience I have had in dining in a very long time! Food was so delicious, servers & bartenders exceptional! Shelby was our exceptional server, ask for her, she will treat you right! And Sean makes the best cocktails & mocktails! We had a Clover Club drink, which is a raspberry gin fizz type drink-and a cold dessert drink that was pink !!! Our food was exceptional! The brand new Garden Pasta dish is #1!! We had one vegetarian style, and two orders with shrimp. And we also ordered the shrimp gnocchi. We all loved our dishes!! The vibe is a very laid back, lots of chatter amongst the patrons & lots of fun with the staff!! You can't go wrong coming here! Oh! And I haven't even mentioned the crazy amount of bourbons they have on their bar wall! You gotta come see it! read more

A colleague and I stopped here as we were both wanting something light for dinner and saw a few of the seafood options on the menu. On arrival we noticed the place had a great vibe, but unfortunately we were told that there was not a table available but that we could sit at the bar and have a meal there. This misfortune ended up being one of the highlights of our evening. As for as the food, I ordered the halibut and my coworker had the horseradish crusted salmon. We split a side of mushroom risotto and everything was absolutely fantastic. Great presentation, wonderful flavor, and impeccable service. Regarding service, Clint our bartender made our evening incredibly enjoyable. I travel quite a bit for work and appreciate someone who is a pure professional in the food service industry. When it comes to bartenders, Clint is second to none I've come across. As a bourbon aficionado, I had many questions about the incredible selection offered at OBC and Clint was very knowledgeable of everything behind the bar. Based on his recommendations, we ended up sampling numerous bourbons and his recommendations did not disappoint. He was so good at what he does that even if the food were awful (which it absolutely was not) I would still come back to OBC just to try more of his recommendations. Tonight they won over 2 customers and we will absolutely visit OBC every time we are in the area. read more

Food was great service was good but one server had sniffles . Would have been great if server wasn't sniffing during service

We stopped by while traveling over Easter weekend. I came in with pretty high expectations based on previous reviews I'd read (here and over on OpenTable). But the brunch we had was just.... fine? They brought biscuits with jam and butter to the table along with the menu, and they seemed like the store-bought mass-produced biscuits you can get from Sam's Club. My boyfriend and I both got the ham and cheddar omelet. He enjoyed it -- the eggs were fluffy and there was lots of ham. We both agreed, though, that topping it with cheese sauce when it was already stuffed with handfulls of cheese was a bit over the top. I really enjoyed the breakfast potatoes -- they were crunchy and well-seasoned -- and the coffee. It was the largest mug I've ever been served at a restaurant, for sure, and it was piping hot, but it had great flavor. read more

Best advice: Make an Open Table reservation well in advance for the time you wish to dine, as time slots fill up fast! Bread & butter come to your table for free. Bacon in a glass with peanut butter dipping sauce was worth every calorie & fat gram. Enjoyed the Autumn salad and didn't even need to add a protein. Daughter got the Short ribs, which was enough for two. The ladies restroom was on pointe, as was the table service and ambiance. Will be back and will plan ahead better to dine earlier in the evening. Had to say that dining at 9PM was jovial with all of the happy people in the dining room. read more

My husband has eaten here a couple of times on his way to/from visiting family. Located in Lexington,Kentucky. Bourbon and food is the focus here. We had a reservation for 7:30. We were greeted by Connor and water was poured. He explained the tablet menu situation. We then waited and finally flagged another waiter to place drinks and appetizer. To this server's credit he did not reply, "this is not my table or let me get your server." Appetizer of pimento cheese and bacon with crostinis arrived well in advance of our drinks. This was delicious. When the appetizer was brought to the table, no plates were offered. We had to stop another person to get those. Our drinks showed up after a few more minutes. They were good but the garnish in the small glass was clunky. Way too big. Our used dishes from the first course sat even after a runner set the table near us and our server walked by. We placed our entrees of fried chicken( they ran out of mashed potatoes so Brussel sprouts were offered) and beef short ribs with cheesy grits. We both enjoyed our entrees. The short ribs could have been hotter. Fried chicken was devoured. Overall a few missteps, perhaps an opportunity for some coaching. read more

I decided to make a reservation for this restaurant to be the first place we would eat in Kentucky. It sure set the bar high! As soon as we were out of the airport, we headed straight to OBC. The bourbon flight is a MUST here. One of the servers we had was so knowledgeable and so amazingly welcoming. He told us a lot about different bourbons and even where to buy it. We ended up buying a bottle from the restaurant before we left. Most of the cocktails in the menu weren't available but I was able to get the lemon boba cocktail that was super good and interesting. For dinner we ordered the chicken in a biscuit, the salmon and a kids burger and fries. Be warned, the food is massive. I could only eat one chicken sandwich but it was probably the best fried chicken I've ever had. The salmon salad was a hit as well. I originally wanted to get dessert but dinner was quite filling. I was disappointed but next time I'll order dessert as my entree. read more

Popped in here for just cocktails at the bar after dinner elsewhere one night and it was just the type of spot we needed. Bar was pretty full but we were finally able to grab 1 seat... my date stood for a bit until we could grab another seat. Loved the iPads at the bar to help with scouring the menu and seeing all that is in each crafted cocktail. Soooo many wonderful choices! A few that we settled on were The Suite Life, Dragon Not Lizard, and the Milk & Sugar. These were great but I especially loved the Milk & Sugar, being that I'm an espresso martini and White Russian fan... since it was basically a mix of the two. The bartenders were friendly and eager to answer any questions we had... even share a few stories about some of the process of their cocktails. Great spot! I look forward to having it for dinner sometime. read more

The pork belly tacos here were some of the best tacos I've ever had. The Mac and cheese was pretty boring, but fine. The Brussels sprouts were decent, but a bit too chewy. The prices are on the high side, though they do seem to get a lot of stuff from local farms which is always good. The service was good. The location is in a highly car-dependent area which isn't very nice, but not the worst location ever. read more

I love this place. And I will continue to go there over and over. Is it possible to just review a single dish? I was not a big fan of the shrimp gnocchi and spinach. Take out the spinach and you've got a great dish. Pair with something else and you've got something even better. But I always love the food and the service here. This was a takeout delivery during COVID 19. I ordered smoked salmon potato skins as an appetizer and the Chicken in Country Biscuits. The dishes, which are probably best classified as elevated southern comfort food, are a bit heavy, and come in large portions. The salmon served with the salmon potato skins was cold smoked salmon. I do wish the potato skins were a little crispy. The flavors were still good, but not great. There is a Tabasco aioli topping, as well as cream cheese, but I didn't taste any type of spice. Glad I tried them, but wouldn't ask for a repeat performance. The Chicken in Country Biscuits is chicken cutlets served on biscuits with various accompaniments. The accompaniments are Tasso cream, crispy leaks (which don't add much), roasted corn salsa, and hot pepper honey. All of the flavors melded well, and the biscuits were flaky. Chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Large portions. I only ate half of my order and the rest has been put away for leftovers. Other dishes: baked crab dip, turf n surf, bacon in a glass (with peanut butter--I read it's all the rage). Also, salads, cola-braised short ribs, pork tenderloin, steak dishes, fish dishes. I would definitely try this place in house, though be aware, dishes are heavy and decadent, and the portions are large! read more

Having never been to Lexington before we Googled a spot for dinner. This restaurant was checking all of the boxes, great food, nice atmosphere and phenomenal service. I have to say we are picky with regard to food and everything was great from the apps, to the entrees. Everything came out quickly and to the "T". Our server, Spencer, who we found out was a trainee was fantastic, personable, engaging and knowledgeable of the bar and food menu. Highly Recommended! read more

We came in from Cincinnati not realizing we would need a reservation. The staff worked hard to get us a table. We waited a very short time and they seated us outdoors which we were glad to have. Everything about the meal from beginning to end was fantastic. The cocktails were out of this world. Trevor and Jaden's hospitality is hard to find anywhere. Their service and personalities were second to none. We were also able to walk away with a fantastic birthday bourbon thanks to Jaden's recommendation. read more
