First time having brunch here today. As a walk in, it was a 30 minute wait or we could sit at the bar which had open seating. We chose seats at the bar. My wife ordered a Mimosa and I had the Bloody Mary. The smoked glass presentation of my Bloody Mary was a nice touch. For brunch, my wife ordered the Smoked Salmon Tostada and I had the Chicken & Biscuits. They were both delicious. Our service was excellent.

This was my first visit, and it won't be my last. I visited on 2-21-26 with a party of three. We did not have a reservation, but sat at the bar. I put our name on the list and we were lucky to get a table. I HIGHLY recommend a reservation. I ordered the couscous salad with shrimp, the bacon in a glass, and had a drink the outer rim. Everything was amazing. The bacon was borderline too crisp, but the peanut sauce it paired with was delightful. The couscous salad will be my go to every time, it's that good. My husband had the pork belly tacos and the fingerling potatoes. The flavoring pairing was unique and somewhat sweet. The pork belly itself wasn't as good as expected. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was busy and it's a small venue so can feel a bit tight.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is where a reservation is a must.

Every single time I've been here, the food and the service have been excellent. Also the mixed drinks here are always fun and there's such a variety. The service is always top notch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is always nice with comfy chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Amazing food, extensive drink menu & fabulous service! They even have a kids menu so we brought our girls; one ate her entire cheeseburger and the other got Mac & cheese, which was very good but she couldn't finish. Rolls are also sooo yummy.

Fantastic mixed drinks and expansive bourbon selection. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is rather loud, and tables are rather close to one another.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was fantastic, the server was extremely knowledgeable and they provide each table with an iPad that depicts the menu with a photo of each menu item. This was very helpful and removes the need to use your phone to find yelp photos. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. The hot pimento cheese appetizer is sooo good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A great place for family gatherings and special occasions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant is ADA accessible, but given the closeness of the tables, it may be best to inform the restaurant in advance so that adequate space is provided.

Outstanding experience with OBC kitchen. Pure Luck that we discovered this fine establishment. I had struck up a nice conversation with a couple at Angels Envy in Louisville earlier in the day and they told us great things about this restaurant. My wife and I looked at the menu and took the ride. I am so glad we did. OBC must have the largest bourbon selection I have ever seen. So many that they have them listed in categories on an iPad. I just wish they offered half oz pours so I could enjoy more of them. The shrimp and grits were the best we have had. Bacon, Andouille sausage, scrumptious shrimp.....sign me up. The mushroom risotto was excellent. The ribeye with fingerling potatoes was perfect. Our compliments to the chef! Phenomenal service by Shelby made for an excellent experience. If you are in the Lexington, do yourself a favor and dine with OBC.

We drove three hours from Nashville just to have brunch here and let me tell you... IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! They have over 650 different types of bourbon because after all OBC = Old Bourbon County!! I started off with The Upper East Side a Classic Old Fashion and it was probably the best I've ever had. Then we ordered the Bacon in a Glass. When I say this is a MUST order I mean sit down and order it right away. It's honey bourbon sugar glaze bacon with a peanut butter dipping sauce accompaniment and OMG shut your mouth it's that good. My mouth is watering right now just thinking of it. Then I ordered the BIRRIA BURRITO which is: (right off the OBC menu) birria braised short rib, elote corn crema, crisp potatoes, scrambled eggs, flour tortilla, hatch chili queso I was AMAZING - we also ordered the OBC Monkey Bread, hash brown casserole, and the stone ground grits - all so very delicious I cannot recommend this place enough. There is something for everyone- the staff is so welcoming and friendly. It's a great place!!

I will forever praise OBC Kitchen. It's so good. Their appetizers are truly something to rave about. Our favorites are the fried green tomatoes and bacon in a glass. Their meatballs and salads are great too. They make a wonderful cocktail. Their service is unmatched they are so great at making everyone feel welcome and taken care of. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor and outdoor seating is great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor has a beautiful bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great date night spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend to anyone living in or visiting Lexington!

This place is fantastic. Honestly this is a must go to if you're in the area l. The amount of bourbon they have is ridiculous, if you're into that. Their food is phenomenal. They give you HUGE portions, so it's easy to over order. I got the braised short rib with truffle Mac and i had like 3 meals out of that one dish. It was insane. Their elote dip is ridiculous. Their rolls are good too, but beware you will have a lot of food! Don't fill up on bread.

Fried chicken on the patio. With sausage gravy, an interesting addition.

My wife and I both enjoy OBC for a variety of reasons. They do a good brunch and dinner. They change up their specialty cocktail menu regularly with creative themes and cocktails, plus all their standard offerings. They do a $5 Friday special bourbon pour Happy Hour. They serve thick cut bacon in a glass with peanut butter (this alone is 5 stars). Their bourbon/whiskey selection is huge! Oh, and the food is really good. A variety of options. I recently tried the fried chicken for the first time. Not in my Top 5 in Lexington but might crack Top 12. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like sitting at the bar. My wife doesn't. So I sit at tables with her and the bar with others[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Service is top notch either way. OBC is a consistently solid restaurant and bar experience. Did you like the barrel pick pour? You can buy a bottle to go!

We love this place and we have been coming to Brunch here on the weekends for years. It's about time that I updated this review. I miss their Croque Monsieur sandwich but I love the Everything Bagel with Turkey and Avocado. I have never had a bad meal here and I love their brunch menu. The cocktails are amazing and they make a good Smoked Bloody Mary .

    Fat Man Reviews K.

On a Saturday afternoon after a trip to Sam's Club, the Fat Man and his wife headed down Tates Creek Road to OBC Kitchen (Old Bourbon County Kitchen) for an early dinner. OBC is a stylish restaurant offering updated Southern fare, craft beer & an extensive bourbon list. We started with the Bacon in a Glass appetizer. The Bacon was thick-cut and cooked to a salty, crunchy, chewy, fatty texture, and the brown sugar amplified the flavor. The peanut butter sauce adds a creaminess to cut through the saltiness, while not adding extra sweetness. We also sampled the Fried Green Tomatoes. The tomatoes were thick-cut, and the breading was cooked perfectly with a great crunch. The bacon jam offered both a sweet and a heat to the dish, which cut through the herb cheese. The heat lingers and builds the flavor while the cheese gives the dish a creamy, cooling, and flavorful component. The addition of the candied Bacon adds even more flavor. We split the Cola-Braised Short Ribs and added the roasted glazed Brussels sprouts. The grits had a grainy texture, were not as cheesy as I expected, and lacked seasoning. The greens were crunchy and had a nice apple cider vinegar taste, but they were more like a salad than I expected. I thought they would be southern-style greens. The short rib was dry and lacked seasoning, although the slaw gave it texture and a crunch. The Brussels sprouts were bitter and overcooked while flirting with a burnt flavor. Although not pictured, they served salt rolls to start the meal, and they were excellent. OBC serves a menu with starters, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts that they source from many local farms. They have a full menu, seasonally rotating drink menus, and an extensive bourbon selection. The Fat Man says that OBC Kitchen is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It was crowded on Saturday night, but thankfully, we had a resy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table was by the bar (and cross traffic) so the volume from music and other patrons made it hard to hear.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On the plus side, the food was great! Favorites were the salmon and the mashed potatoes (worth the calories!)

The menu is a unique mixture of American, soul and ethnic options. I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Garlic wrap and pasta salad. Hubs ordered a Club sandwich with potato salad. Everything was SO DELICIOUS! Highlights were the sumac seasoning on my wrap, the HOMEMADE bread on the Club and the whipped texture mixed with the potatoes in the potato salad. The gentleman who runs the restaurant was kind and attentive and I swear I could taste the love in the food he prepared. We were staying a couple of miles away at a hotel for a road trip pit stop and needed dinner. Dinner exceeded my expectations and I KNEW I had to leave a review to encourage others to visit. But wait, there's more!!! 6 months ago I was at a hotel in New Orleans for 5 nights trying to order their "famous" bread pudding for a late night treat. It was Out of stock my whole stay and I left a bit bummed. So when I saw bread pudding as an optional dessert I ordered some to-go. BEST. BREAD PUDDING. EVER. It came with real, homemade whipped cream. I put the whipped cream in the mini fridge at the hotel and pudding on the counter for an hour or two to allow time to digest dinner. When I finally dug into the dessert I was in HEAVEN! The bread pudding still had some warmth. I tried a bite on its own and was delighted by the combination of big bread chunks with lovely syrup, touches of cinnamon spice and CRUNCHY SUGAR pieces. Then I tried a bite of the VERY full container of whipped cream. It was light and fluffy, very creamy and partially frozen and has a fluffy frozen custard vibe. The combination of the two was a flavor climax that I can't even properly describe. Don't miss out on the bread pudding!! The restaurant wasn't busy at 7/8 pm on a Thursday night. It's tucked away in a neighborhood shopping strip. Don't let the inconspicuous look fool you into believing that my review is in error. Also, it seems small but has a roomy dining room with a bar in the adjoining space. If you try the food I can guarantee you will taste the love and quality that is a rare find these days.

We also had coffees (regular drip for me and an iced latte for him). And I also tried the key lime gimlet. It's made with Castle & Key gin which is a favorite of mine. Ambience was very nice and the food was delicious. I asked for a side of bacon. I am very particular about my bacon and it came out cooked perfectly, crispy but not burnt. Service was fantastic and pleasant. The only criticism I had is that the red onion in my omelet was bitter. But no one's fault, sometimes onions are very astringent. Everything else was delicious and well made. Oh and we got the house made cinnamon roll for the table. This was delicious. So buttery and gooey with cinnamon. We will be back, maybe for dinner to try their dinner menu!

It's enormous (easily shareable between 6+ people) and absolutely delicious. The Sourdough Breakfast Sandwich was a close second at 9/10, a great classic executed really well. The Banana Bread Latte was an 8/10 -- very good but ask for it less sweet. The Iced Cinnamon Bun Latte and Eggs in Heaven both landed at 6/10. The latte sounds incredible on paper but the cinnamon bun flavor didn't quite come through, and while the Eggs in Heaven dish itself is a good concept, my eggs were unfortunately not cooked to my liking. We really enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying our breakfast! Service was good, a little slow but they were very friendly! Overall a great spot with a lot of potential -- the pastry alone is worth the trip. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

After waiting for 20-25 minutes we stood by the kitchen window to wait for our food to come up, we overheard people coming to pick up food and being told they were out of items they ordered and to choose something else... from the already VERY LIMITED menu. I was struck that they were allowing orders to go through for items they didn't have.. Anyways, the couscous salad was great. The lox and kohlrabi salad was mid with soggy bread. The pretzel was decent. Seating in the garden was viby - I'm assuming this is why everyone hypes this place up. Overall very pretentious. Walking around the greenhouse and seeing the plant prices is LAUGHABLE. As a gardener, these prices are insane and you can certainly find great plants at a much better price elsewhere.
