I came here from a suggestion on yelp. It was a good suggestion. This is a fun little place. Very trendy. We came on a Saturday and they happen to be doing weekend brunch. So I got a pancake and some ham eggs and breakfast potatoes. Which were all really good. my husband got a woodfired pepperoni pizza with hot honey on top. That was really really good! I think I will come back and get a pizza next time. We also got some bad news which were ok. My husband liked them a lot more than I did. They tasted like a crueler with lots of powdered sugar on them. That's not what I think of when I think of a beignet. But it was all right. It didn't start getting really crowded by the time we left so I'm glad we came early. Our waitress was a little slow and scatterbrained. She kept trying to take our orders to the other tables, and took a long time to refill our drinks and come back to us for several things. I don't know if she was just new or as it got busier she got more stressed. So we cut her some slack. All in all it was a great meal. read more

I've been to Oak many times and it's always been a great experience. The Nashville Chicken Sandwich is outstanding. The chicken is crispy and spicy and all the toppings are perfect. The Oak Burger is so good. It's covered in melty cheese, house made pickles, spicy ketchup and pickled onions. The Pappardelle is delicious! The pasta and short ribs are so yum!! I've had this place bookmarked for a while and finally had a chance to get there Friday night. The wait was just over 1 hour which is normal around here on weekends. The host was polite, and personable. I was in a group of 2. The server quickly came out to get our order. I choose the oak burger as I read it was revamped last year, and it's a popular menu item. My partner had the steak salad. The wait for food was over 30 minutes. When my burger arrived it looked good but I took a bite. It wasn't just over cooked, it was burned. The patty was completely black, and hard as a hockey puck. The patty is obviously from frozen as it was really thin, and the burger was mostly bun. I did not eat it. The fries were crispy but had no flavor, I didn't eat that either. My partner's steak salad was also over cooked, not worth the price. I did tell my server about the burned burger. She was gracious about it. I understand the situation in lack of help, but do not send out burned food. The cook knew it, but still sent it out. That means you have a place that does not care about what they do. This restaurant is a waste of time for really bad food. It's a hidden gem off of 123000 South and 715 E Behind Gourmandies. We got there early on a Monday night because they are always busy. The inside probably holds 20 tables with a small patio. It's decor is modern with 1970 Color accents. Now for the food. We started with the Bread. It's like Naan blown up. It's round with warm olive oil, butter and a hint of garlic, I could just eat this for the rest of my life. Then we had the Pepperoni Pizza. This was far from an ordinary pizza. It had a spicy bite buried deep in it and was glazed with honey. Now who would have thought of that. Well they did and it's delicious. The service was great. The salty goat cheese mixed with the fresh tomato sauce is unforgettable with the buttery parmesan dough! The cheese curds were wonderful as well! I kept seeing ads for Oak Wood Fire Kitchen pop up on my Insta and decided to just try it out. I ordered the Nashville Sandwich while my husband chose the Papa Juan Pizza and my son the kids spaghetti. I had cut my sandwich in half and when I went to pick up one half, to eat it, it fell apart on me. I ended up eating it slightly deconstructed with a knife and fork and really enjoyed it. The other half didn't fall apart on me, but when I took a bite it was super spicy to me. Not sure why the difference, either way it was tasty. The Don Juan Pizza was drizzled with some sort of cream sauce (I don't recall what it is) and it was also quite tasty. This was such a fun surprise. It was trendy, and beautiful. The staff was really kind and helpful. The menu had something for everyone too! We tried their seared salmon- yumm! Listen, the food here is excellent. Really amazing. Everything I've had here has been stellar: the famous brunch bun, the salmon hash, the pappardelle bolognese. Top notch food. If you can get it. The problem is getting served in the first place. Each time we've been, the service has been extremely slow and unorganized. And this isn't even necessarily a staffing shortage problem. On our most recent visit, we (two people) showed up at 4:15 p.m. before the place got busy--multiple empty tables. There were three servers standing around chatting, folding napkins ten feet away. It took 15 minutes before someone even realized and came to take a drink order, right before I had resigned myself to having to try to flag someone down. We had been in the building almost an hour by the time I got my food and then it took another 15-20 minutes for my husband to get his dish--watching the kitchen, we suspect it was given to someone else and they had to remake it. There also seemed to be a menu issue? I tried to order a cocktail, but the server said they didn't have it and quizzed me about which menu I was looking at, as if she hadn't heard of it. I told her I was just using the one from the QR code on the table. She did offer to go ask someone but honestly the hanger was already setting in and it wasn't going to be worth it given how long it seemed it took to get anything. The previous visit for brunch a month or so ago was somewhat better, but I think that was because it was the owner himself waiting the tables and making sure things happened. To his credit, on that visit, he comped one of our items without us even asking. I want to come back because the meal was really so good, but 90 minutes for dinner due to absent-minded waitstaff is an extremely frustrating experience. It would be one thing if the place was slammed and there was one harried waitress trying to cover everything, but that was definitely not the problem here. My friend ordered the chicken pot pie, which came out in 15 minutes. I had ordered a pizza, but it wasn't brought out until over 30 minutes later. By the time my pizza was delivered to the table, my friend had finished her dish, and we were both waiting around. To make things worse, the staff didn't come back to check on our drinks after the pizza was finally delivered, and had only done so twice before in the 50 minutes we'd been seated. The pizza itself was fair--not great, but not bad either. I'll give them credit for having a great tasting crust. And while I'd like to give some of the other menu items a shot because it sounds like there are some good options, I don't want to be waiting around again, so I'm staying away from this place for a while. read more

Got seated within 10 minutes. Lobby area was nice and furnished well. Very clean and trendy environment. Music was a little loud making it hard to talk. Our first waiter took our drink order within about 3 minutes. He dropped off the drinks and then disappeared. He served people that came in after us. After about 15 minutes the manager noticed we were just sitting there so he sent over a different waiter. There were only 2 waiters working. It was off putting but the new waiter wasted no time gettin four order in. No menus on the table. Most tables had a QR code you could scan, but not my table of course. Hopefully they have paper menus if you asked, but I just looked at Yelp photos and made a decision. Ordered Cheese Curds, fried cauliflower, salmon dish, Nashville burger, and a wedge salad with a chicken on the side. Fried cauliflower was amazing. Came with a side of mayonnaise. It complemented it well. Very tasty. Cheese curds were good, but hard to beat the cauliflower. Delicious for cheese curds, but just more simple of a side dish. The Nashville was amazing. The chicken was so soft, and the mustard sauce was paired perfectly with the dish. They used a super soft bun. It was a good size and was messy, but I ate every last drop. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Very flavorful. The wedge salad was great. Huge portion and was more than enough. They brought the side of chicken out cold. That may have been a miscommunication on our part. Great meal, no disappointment for food. We may have had a one off experience with our first waiter, but the second waiter was spot on. He kept our drinks full and gave us plenty of time before asking us how it was. Some places they ask just as you take your first bite, so you can barely answer. As this was in October, we lucked out that we were still able to eat outside. I had a Peach Bellini to start with. Let's start the morning off right! I wanted to have a cappuccino as well, but their coffee menu is a tad limited. They do have a French Press option, but I'm not a fan of French Press coffee. I've eaten at Oak Wood twice in roughly the past year. Both times I've had good experiences. The first time involved a pizza the second time was the steak frites. Before I get to the dishes I'll tell you about the ambiance. I think the restaurant is gorgeous. Good vibe, pretty tables, good service and one time they had live music. With the live music it was hard to have a solid conversation because it was loud, but overall I enjoyed it. Just don't try and have a business meeting on live music night. The food is good. Like pretty solid. I haven't left thinking "this is the best thing ever" but solid. You won't be disappointed if you come here. Pizzas are yummy. My steak was cooked to a solid medium.
