Basta had my entire heart at "homemade pasta." When we walked in the place was clean and inviting. We were greeted warmly and the waitress answered all of questions (I had a lot!) We tried each of the appetizers (the meatballs were our favorite!) and several different pasta options. I opted for the Cacio y Pepe and asked to change noodles - they were very kind and said that wasn't a problem. We also tried 2 desserts and both were delish! I will definitely be back! read more

High prices for what you get, very loud and echoey in very hard to have a conversation. Food was OK, my boyfriend liked his meatballs. But what knocked it down to me was the fact that Service was painfully slow. You order at the counter and pay and tip there. But if I knew it was gonna be that slow, I would've never dropped a tip. It was nearly 45 minutes to get our food. My dish was $18 for a small portion and I had to pay extra for shrimp. The quality of the food and service do not justify the high prices. On top of that was the loud echo. Concrete floors and middle chairs give it a cold feeling and a screaming toddler the entire time I was there was amplified. I have nothing against children at all. Likely will never come back read more

Maybe we visited Basta on an off day, but we left thinking that we likely would not return. It's kind of a weird set up, you order at the counter but they bring out water for the table as well as your food. The interior is definitely a "fast casual" vibe, but the price point is not. Staff were nice enough, but the whole thing just felt a little awkward. The pasta itself wasn't bad, it was fine, but it wasn't memorable. Again, for the price point and the ambiance, I'm not sure that it matches up. That said if you're hungry, it will do the job! The portion sizes were large. read more

Hoping for a cozy Italian night out. It wasn't quite that. The ambiance is the biggest issue. The space is painted dark, poorly lit, and honestly feels cold, both in temperature and atmosphere. The wall art is too small for the space, leaving it feeling bare and unfinished. None of it evokes the warmth you'd expect from a pasta-forward Italian concept. For a place marketing itself on authenticity and craft, the setting works against it. The food was decent but didn't justify the price point. The Gnocchi alla Vodka with added burrata was the highlight, tasty, though not remarkable. The Don Basta Focaccia was good, but the balsamic drizzle was almost symbolic, a few drops where a generous pour was called for. Same note on the portion sizes overall: for what you pay, you expect more. Not in a rush to go back, but if they addressed the atmosphere and leaned into the generosity their concept promises, it could be a different story. read more

Food is excellent and staff is attentive. This casual dining spot for those who want a quick bite & don't want to stay long. The metal chairs over there makes you want to leave after you eat because they're uncomfortable. If you can't decide what type of sauce you want get a couple of kids portions and share. The cost of a kids plate of pasta is $10 & the regular order is around $20 but the portion size I thought is the same. I was disappointed with the caprese salad. Tomatoes check, fresh mozzarella balls check, basil non existent. When we ask about it they took it back and put one tiny leaf on it. What a joke. For $12, they couldn't spare some basil leaves which is one of the main ingredients in the dish? I'm not ordering that again. Pizza had a good portion size and plenty of ingredients throughout. Pasta was fresh & tasty. The pasta is made with Italian flour so I can eat it. They have gluten free pasta as well. read more

You have to be kidding me ..... $18 for a half full to go container , of WAY over cooked pasta in a solidified gelatinous mess ! Noodles could not be separated, just a congealed clump , that even after microwaving for a few seconds still didn't improve anything. Honestly tasted like Chef Boyarde from a can , I'm not being facetious, but serious . Can't believe people actually like this crap , but hey it's the Utah palate . read more

This place is amazing! I love coming here for the Vodka Rigatoni! I literally could eat the sauce all by itself it's that good! Service is good too! They gave a few recommendations before ordering :) I like this location but it feels a little bit too big. I like the murray location better but the food is equally as good at both locations:) read more

I'd like to start my review off by talking about the thing I liked most...that was the service! We were greeted upon entering the restaurant and the staff were very friendly. They were eager to answer our questions and very welcoming. They checked on our table a few times throughout the evening. To clarify, this restaurant is more of a casual setting, but they have great service that checks in often. The ambiance was decent! Modern, but lacking a little in quality. It's hard to want to pay on average $20 for a plate of pasta and then be in that setting. I feel like the seating could be better spaced and better quality. The food was decent! I think it's overpriced, but it was pretty good. I got the gluten free pasta with vodka sauce. The vodka sauce was good but nothing special! My husband got the pesto pappardelle which he really enjoyed. I tasted his sauce and it was delicious. He also added shrimp and they just brought the shrimp on the side. Overall I think the food is decent but way too overpriced especially when it doesn't come with protein. It costs $10 extra to add chicken to your dish...yikes! The portion size is okay but I was surprised to pay what I did and not have leftovers. I think Basta is decent but probably won't be returning because I don't want to pay that premium pricing! read more

We got to sit outside because luckily the weather was delightful and such a vibe. This was my birthday dinner! The sauces are so yummy and fresh and the pasta noodles taste very homemade/not factory. Your entrée comes with bread to dip in oil and it was delicious, couldn't get the photo before we devoured it! The lady that took our order was very helpful with all suggestions. Would come here again! read more

Food was cold, mine, my wife's, our pizza. Not left out cold, but refrigerator cold. Didn't warm too well in the microwave I guess. read more

Maybe my tastebuds are way off, along with my dining partner's, but we both thought our meals were incredibly bland and lacked creativity. I see so many other great reviews that I wonder if we just missed the right menu items. The lady behind the counter was welcoming and friendly, making recommendations to us as first-timers. When our food came out, my date's came in a to-go container with no utensils and mine followed (on a regular plate) an uncomfortable amount of time later. Then someone noticed that we needed forks. That was awkward. The whole experience was kind of lackluster. I'd love to give it a try again, but at the price point for food that was not very exciting, it might not be anytime soon that I return. read more

The environment is very much lacking for the price. Metal chairs on a concrete floor. When we walked in it was very warm, nearly 80°, It felt. We mentioned it and they turned on the AC which was kind. It instantly got to 65° it seemed anyway. Too cold for a warm dinner. (I did ask them to cool it down so that's on me) We ordered two meals, two beers, and one milkshake for our daughter. The cost was nearing $90 for a walk up order plus tip. Feels outrageous to me! The food was very subpar. They bring out a "bread basket" that has exactly 3 to 4 slices of a slim cut baguette. This is our third time there and we will not be back. We had to ask for salt and pepper multiple times before we could get any. The atmosphere is very much like a cafeteria for a finer dining experience price. We spend less going to the cliff and get all the comforts. read more

I am so sad to leave this review because the people here are so nice! the prices are just so absolutely outrageous. My pasta with no protein was $20. If i wanted to add chicken it was an additional $10! And I got the most basic, rigatoni with pesto! The amount of pasta you get is very small for the price too. I was still very hungry after eating it. I am italian! The food tastes great! But it also means I know how cheap it is to make pasta. The prices do not need to be as high as they are. If you're going to price it high, at least give a decent amount! The prices will keep me from returning. I don't mind paying a lot of money for good food, but $20 with no protein for a couple bites of pasta is pretty rough. read more

The only complaint I have about this place is you cant tip the service unless you have cash on you. Christopher and his team are doing an exceptional job. Basta is the "fast food" of italian cuisine with all the taste of fine dinning and sevice. Great concept read more

This is one of those times when I wish I could give half-stars, as Basta was definitely better than a 3, but not quite a 4, on our visit. With the exception of the pasta itself, the food was tasty. We ordered a caprese salad and rigatoni bolognese to share. The salad was good, as was the bolognese sauce. They also had the bottled Italian iced tea brand that we saw everywhere in Italy, which was a nice --and authentic -- touch. However, as others mentioned, the pasta itself was tough, which detracted from the yummy sauce. I know Italians like their pasta al dente, but this was just plain chewy. When we ordered our food, the person at the counter was helpful in explaining Basta's model and making suggestions for our order. We also had very attentive servers the entire meal. However, the atmosphere -- ugh. I'm not saying you have to go full-on cliched Italian restaurant, with checkered tablecloths and Dean Martin playing, but the loud, open space with metal chairs clanging around doesn't make you want to sit and savor your meal. Ordering at a counter for food at this price point is also a little off-putting. We will definitely give Basta another try, as there aren't many places like it close to Draper, and the food was generally good. However, we may wait until the weather is warmer so we can try to sit outside and avoid the interior. read more

Basta has stolen my heart. While I enjoy pizza I don't get it often...that is until I found Basta. Their pizza is so tasty and also well priced, it's an easy choice to get a full pizza for myself without breaking the bank. I've gotten their Margarita pizza more times than I can count, and their olive oil cake is glorious. If you have leftovers, I recommend reheating in the oven for best next day pizza enjoyment. I only dined in once of the many times I've ordered here, and the vibe was a little moody and relaxing, and the workers serving us were so kind. Excited for my next Basta visit! read more

Delicious!!! Come in and try it NOW!!!" If you're craving authentic, mouthwatering pasta, you have to stop by this place! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest hospitality and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that made me feel like I was eating in Italy. This is a neighborhood spot for us, we desperately want it to be good. We love an Italian place in the hood. However, it was very bad. The place only does pasta and pizza. Easy to make 2 things well, right? Not so much. I ordered the rigatoni and the noodles were so badly overcooked. They were gummy and sticky. Immediately unappetizing and really quite inedible. For almost $20 it was a real disaster. Across the street at the generic Noodles & Co, I would have been served a far better meal. My husband (whose favorite food is pizza) chose a pizza. It was doughy in the center! Not cooked through. A pizza?! How can you screw up a pizza for a person who loves all pizza? It was not good and we will not be giving it another try. Basta is a Busta. The 2nd star is for an inventive menu. But they really deserve 1 star since neither of us were able to eat our meals. read more

Went with the family this last weekend, and it was easily the best Italian I've had in Utah. Ordered the genovese, bolognese, meatballs & reggiina pizza; everything was top tier. Wine was great too. Think we had waited around 30min for the main course (which was the failing of the previous owner at this building) and the staff came over and comped us desert: cannolo & tiramisu, also great. Portions were huge & the price was a relief from local restaurants, as you got what you paid for. Almost forgot, bought our kid their Italian cream soda... so good. Overall, I'd give the restaurant a 9.5/10. Actually, was talking about the restaurant again last night & was thinking back over the decades of all the Italian places we've eaten at and this was top 2. I'm coming back, maybe even this weekend... the app is asking about the ambience so I'll say this: sleek, modern, and clean. I wouldn't have made a few choices, but who cares. I'm here for the food. read more

Came in during grand opening for takeout. Received some unheated lasagne, we haven't gone back.

The pasta was fresh and tasted good, but for the price I don't think I'll be back. For 2 of us we got 3 tiny pieces of bread and a speck of olive oil/vinegar for dipping and then the server never brought us our water. Looking at others food I might go back and try the pizza. It looked good and is much less expensive. But for $25+ per person I'll go to a regular sit down with bigger portions and more bread read more

This is a good little Italian place. The food is good, we have just tried a few of the pasta dishes. The service was great. Food was excellent. Quick turnaround from order to getting food. Was first time there and definitely will be back!

OK, here's the weird thing. This pasta was exceptional. Like handmade delicious sauce exceptional. However, the ambiance in the restaurant doesn't match the food quality or the service. We had to order at the counter and then go sit down, but then this wonderful waiter came by. It was confusing. The decor is confusing too. Very deli like. Such quality pasta! Will definitely go back. read more

I've been to the fashion place location multiple times, and wanted to try this location. I ordered sorentina with rigatoni instead of gnocchi. The poor cashier was confused and kept apologizing because he is new. After my help and a few of his coworkers, he got it. I've worked in the food industry, and I know they are still trying to work out the kinks. The complaints saying the olive garden is better are crazy. Local and fresh overrides a subpar chain. The manager and chef checked in with us and most other tables it looked like. Staff is attentive and friendly. I hope they are successful! I also split the Caesar salad and got an Italian lemon ice tea. All was good. read more
