A good time on paper target.

The guys on the range are extremely helpful. I'd like to say thank you to Page and Mike. You guys make a day at the range a fun and safe place to spend a couple of hours plinking.

First timer. Shotgun sport clay shooting. Went with a group. It was very beautiful. Went on a Friday morning from open to close and no one was there but us, which was nice. The scenery is amazing. It was fun overall but unfortunately some of the stations were not working or it had broken clays. It's also like a mile walk to cross over all stations. Make sure to bring yourself plenty of water to stay hydrated and wear appropriate clothing and shoes for it.

The Building Industry Association held their annual trap shoot event at Oaktree today. Betsy runs a flawless trap shoot competition and has her guys cook up an exquisite lunch. Thanks, Oaktree!

    Station 7 with moving targets

My friends and I came here this morning to shoot some shotgun. One of my friend own it and brought his own ammo so we didn't have to rent or buy ammo. The only thing we had to pay for was the clay targets which wasn't too much. The biggest delay here is when you're paying to go shoot because there only 1 person working and for some reason they just take a while. Once you pay, then you'll get your card to put in the machine to deploy the clay target. A truck will take your party up to the shooting range up in the mountains and it's a pretty bumpy ride with no seatbelt so hold on. We had a great time at station 1, 4, 6 and then went to station 7 where it's like shooting at a moving object. Remember if you have any remaining balance on your card to take a picture because we had an issue where the person working the counter said we used up all our balance but we didn't.

I want to start by saying this place has the potential to be a hidden gem, but it doesn't seem to be very well known, at least from the riverside area. I discovered this location through a Reddit recommendation and ended up having a good time. As someone who travels often for work, I try to bring my bow along to find interesting places to shoot. This visit was to my 233rd 3D course or range. While it wasn't the worst experience, there were definitely areas for improvement. Many of the signs for the targets were either on the ground, missing, or mislabeled. Right off the bat, my first target experienced a complete pass-through, which set a concerning tone for the rest of the afternoon. Fortunately, I didn't lose any arrows, but keeping score quickly became impossible due to the unreadable targets. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, that was not the case with Alex. Her rudeness and unprofessional attitude were shocking, especially for someone who should embody the standards of a pro shop employee and Level 2 instructor. She had an argument with me over the pricing listed on their website, and her arrogance escalated quickly. The tension in the room was palpable, and the other employees appeared flustered but seemingly accustomed to her behavior. Incredibly, she misrepresented the rates, claiming they would be cheaper than the children's price, which was simply incorrect according to their website. When I inquired about the future shots, Tyler, a younger and genuinely nice employee, answered my questions. However, Alex jumped in, listing all the targets in a rather aggressive manner. When I asked how many there were, I received conflicting answers about the number available, which left me feeling frustrated. I was just trying to maintain a cool demeanor and exit her presence as quickly as possible. When I signed out, I noticed the last person to do so had been over two weeks prior, which gave me a sinking feeling about the state of the course. Tyler explained that there was a mandatory $25 archery safety training course I needed to complete to access the range. This included reviewing rules and assessing my shooting skills. While I understand the necessity for policies, I was caught off guard since this wasn't mentioned on their website. After paying almost $40, Tyler walked me through the range rules, but I didn't actually shoot a single arrow--he only walked me up to the start of the 3D course while we chatted about hunting. I could tell he visibly relaxed when we stepped away from Alex's presence. After wrapping up the course, I spoke with Tyler and another employee, who seemed to be the bow tech. I noticed Alex packing up to leave, and she made sure to say goodbye to the other employees while giving me a pointed glare as she exited. (Good riddance!) Without her around, I ended up talking shop with the other guys for nearly an hour. They were genuinely passionate about the sport and seemed like great people! On a positive note, even though I lost an insert on the last target, they kindly hooked me up with a replacement. Overall, while I enjoyed my experience, it was overshadowed by the unprofessional behavior of one staff member. If they can address this issue, they could truly elevate the experience for all their visitors!

    They even have axe throwing!

I remember the first time I was here about eight years ago and shot some machine guns. I'm a lot more tame now so didn't go there. It's a beautiful gun range with a very nice restaurant with excellent chicken tenders. Beautiful views and beautiful stations for your shooting pleasure. Nice little gift shop as well with all the ammo you need. Really good prices on everything. And very helpful staff!

We from LAVC TAE did the archery 101 lessons with Alex who is a pro as a group of 10 people today. She was amazing and we all had a great time with the lessons and archery range shooting. She is very well knowledge in her field and very friendly. She did an excellent job and people from our group will be coming back.

Roughly half the class time was spent listening to stories about how great he believes he is, rather than learning the laws surrounding concealed carry. We didn't even get a proper lunch break because so much time was wasted waiting for him to take cigarette breaks. The remaining time was spent being told there is only one correct way to hold a firearm--his way. If you didn't comply exactly, you risked being disqualified. He openly bragged about how many students he disqualifies each session. In my opinion, if a student is disqualified, it reflects a failure in instruction--especially when the issue isn't safety, but not conforming to the instructor's personal preference. He also went off on tangents about not feeling comfortable shopping or spending time in his own neighborhood in Sylmar, saying he prefers to shop in Santa Clarita because he believes his area isn't safe. On top of that, he aggressively pushed Glock firearms, claiming they are the only worthwhile option--conveniently mentioning that he also sells a Glock cleaning course. Overall, this class was a waste of time and money. If you want to actually learn CCW laws and receive professional instruction, save your money and find a real instructor--not someone more interested in talking about himself than teaching. A few weeks later, I received an email notice that the rifle had arrived at Guns LA, and I drove over to go through the transfer drill. They buzzed me right in, I was greeted by a couple of the guys, and they handled everything right away. Typical easy California transfer: pages of paperwork, produce CDL, provide DNA sample, raise your right hand and swear you are not a communist or a Klingon, take a polygraph...the usual drill. Because they have a highly Yelp rated gunsmith, I handed them the Leopold scope and mounting rings I had purchased and asked them to mount it (yeah...as if I could have mounted it). No problemo. Ten long days later, I returned (and yes, the DROS paperwork stamps the exact minute from the ten days you started the process and you are damn RIGHT I was there at the exact minute to accept my rifle). They gave me a break on the price of mounting the scope since I did the transfer paperwork there, which was generous and unexpected. Everything was perfect. Recently, I noticed some parts were coming loose and was concerned about safety. I reached out to a few shops, and while the first place was willing to help, I felt like they were more focused on trying to sell me something rather than genuinely helping with my issue. Thankfully, I found Guns LA right around the corner. After seeing their great reviews on Yelp and Google, I decided to stop by and I'm so glad I did. Deon helped me from the start and was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He never made me feel uncomfortable and took the time to explain everything clearly. Not only did he inspect and fix my firearm, but he also spent time teaching me how to properly use my Holosun sight and gave me helpful tips to improve my shooting. He even shared a flyer for private training lessons, which I really appreciated. Best of all, there was zero pressure to buy anything. He genuinely cared about helping me, not making a sale. When I returned to pick up my handgun, Deon and Mike explained that the previous dealer had actually left out some important parts, something they couldn't believe. Luckily, Guns LA has a certified gunsmith on staff (apparently one of the only ones within a 20-mile radius), and they took great care of everything. I'm extremely grateful to have found this place. They've earned my trust and my business. I'll definitely be coming back for future purchases, and they're now the only shop I'll trust with my handguns and AR-15. Highly recommend Guns LA if you're looking for honest, professional, and knowledgeable service! Big thank you to Deon
