Again, these guys don't know the DOJ rules. They insisted I show a secondary proof or residence to buy or transfer a rifle. No no no. A secondary proof of residence is ONLY when buying a hand gun in California. Not a rifle. But the owner had a hissy fit when I tried to prove it using his own rules and regs from his copy of the DOJ rules. He refused to read the next paragraph where it clear states my point. He got mad and arrogant. I took my business to feild Of Glory 3 blocks away(cheaper too) and they know the laws and don't make you go through bs that isn't necessary (just because he's too lazy to or proud to be proven wrong. You can look it up yourself in the DOJ web site. Been buying guns for 40 years and these young ignorant soon to be out of business guys unfortunately think they are smarter than anyone and can't be bothered or educated. I'm really happy I found this place. I recently needed a DROS done on a firearm being shipped in from an online retailer. Had it sent to VC Armory. A lot of dealers these days arent keen on doing that these days. I called them, and they said no problem. They notified me less than an hour after I got the UPS notice that the package arrived at their location. I showed up just a short while later to start the process. Its a nice small shop in a quiet part of town. I really appreciated how chill the atmosphere was. I think it took all of 10 minutes to get the paperwork done, and off I went. 10 days wrapped, and I went for my pickup today. Again, the shop was super chill. Took less than 10 minutes to wrap everything up. Start to finish, the process was painless. Most gun shops are typically not places I'm super comfortable at. They tend to have semi aggressive staff, customers, or both. And they also tend to be very vocal about their political affiliations. VC Armory had none of those things. That alone is going to make them my go to LGS from here on out. read more

I see a lot of good reviews. And I understand why. My issue was a technicality in their wrong interpretation of the law. Here is the real problem I have with them. They do not understand all gun laws and there for make their customer jump through more legal hoops than need be. I don't expect every customer to know the laws so they are unaware VC is slightly incompetent. I even pointed out their error but they just raised their voices and yelled at me. In California , when buying a rifle, it is NOT necessary to show two forms of ID. If you have a California True ID (Golden Bear in corner with no restrictions) that is all you need. They insisted I needed more. Here's the law: Only if you have restrictions or are purchasing a hand gun or it's a PO box address etc... is a secondary ID proving address required). But they are so arrogant and elitist blow-hards they wouldn't even turn the page on the form that they used as their proof showing me. I said on the first page it states NO secondary ID required for rifles. But he refused to even look at the 1st page and read where it clearly states the secondary ID rule is ONLY for hand gun sales. So lazy. So every single rifle purchaser that had a California DL True ID with no restrictions and their address correct on the iD was and is made to show a secondary ID. Completely unnecessary so I asked them to send my "receiver(rifle) to their competitor down the street who is up on the law. And they're cheaper too (and very friendly with no attitude. VC waste their customer's time making them jump through hoops needlessly and are very argumentative when you show them the law. Shame. By the way...I had lost my registration for my car and was in the process of renewing my registration so I didn't have it as secondary proof handy and I wasn't going to stand in line at the DMV just to get a copy when they would send me my new one a couple weeks later. Nope. I rather deal with the competent FFL guys down the street. My history: Gun collector of 50 years with over 350 purchases over a lifetime. I was an FFL myself and I am very familiar with the laws. Most gun buyers will assume their FFL knows the laws. Fact: Not all ffl's understand things they read and need it explained to them. We're all human. But when they get arrogant, loud and insistent by refusing to acknowledge they misread their own DOJ documents in front of them....that's just a ignorance and incompetence. These are guys I would think should not be doing their own Taxes let alone filling out gun transfers. read more

I absolutely love this place! So many people told me to check this place out and then it happened. My dad ruined me. He gave me a gift certificate that included 3 simulators and 1 outdoor session. Now I'm hooked. I learned more in 1 hour with Justin than I learned in 9.5 hours with a guy who shall remain nameless out behind Sherwood (initials GS) for my CCW. Let's just say you get what you pay for. When it comes to something as serious as carrying a gun you should get the proper training. Now I will continue to come to VC Armory to train as much as possible. I finally feel comfortable to carry on my body because of the real life situations that Justin put me in. Squib loads! Bought a bag of 50 reloads (it was a few rounds short) and took it to the range the same week purchased. TWO squib rounds about 30 shots in. The rangemaster kindly helped remove them. In conversation, he asked where I got these from and when I said "Ventura," he immediately asked if it was VC Armory and I was shocked to find out others have had the same experience. I recently got my CCW and I went to VC Armory to put in my 16 hours of training. Justin, the owner is a great instructor. The first time at the shooting range, outside was a lot more intense than I expected, but worth it. The second time was so much better, because I knew what to expect.I was surprised at how many rounds of ammo I went through. True experts in everything guns and ammo. Nothing but the best. I've run THOUSANDS of VC Armory rounds through my rifle and pistol. I've had ONE round cause a "weapon out of battery". A simple fist to the back of the slide, and I sent it down range without a hitch. Justin employs local veterans and is one himself. I was looking for a place to install a A2 front sight on my Barrel and I came across this place. I have to tell you I have never felt at home at a gun shop until I found this place. Justin makes you feel welcomed and is willing to work with you on ideas and your thoughts. The place is very, very, reasonably priced. They have a big guard dog by the name of Rocky at the door but don't let him scare you he's a big sweetheart. All in all this shop is a find no high pressure techniques in sales pitches and no judgment at all. Excellent customer service. Recently I received my CCW training from the exceptional staff at VC Armory. Gun training, handling, and shooting occurred at an outdoor range in the Los Padres mountains. The training was a full morning event with actual size torso/head rubber mannequins used as targets ... no paper targets! The VC Armory staff were many and extremely competent. Each were very personable, friendly, and provided individualized attention during instruction and hands-on training. I have had CCW training in past years, but VC Armory is by far the BEST! Since the CCW license in CA is only good for two years I will definitely be returning to VC Armory for the required training and range qualification. Justin and the entire VC Armory crew are awesome!
