I needed some new sights for my Kimber Ultra Carry. I bought them online and needed a gunsmith to install them. A shopped around in Ventura County for price and turn around time. Brian was very reasonable in pricing at $35 for sights install. You'll have to drop it off at a local gun store in Camarillo. Brian will pick it from there. Local police requirement. I used Knights Tactical in Camarillo and paid $20 for the service of reciving my gun for Brian. Turnaround time for me was 24 hours. Wow. Perfect. So total price was $55. Dropped in a new trigger and muzzle brake on my LWRC. Trigger was installed properly unfortunately the muzzle brake was upside down and crooked. To me an impossible task don't understand how that happened. The biggest issue is I had to drive to the gun store twice. Literally 35 minutes there 40 minute wait in line as soon as I got home and inspected the rifle again 35 minutes each way and this time it was over 40 minutes in line. I was looking into finding a local gunsmith and I came upon Brian of Worthans Gun Works. He's definitely skilled at what he does and his service is top notch. As others have mentioned, he is professional and friendly. I brought in a rifle (model 700 SA in an aftermarket chassis) to have work done to the barreled action. Mind you, I'm not very knowledgeable about gunsmithing work/services when it comes to accuracy and precision, but I wanted the action to be accurized, rebarreled, have a muzzle brake installed and apply a finish at the end. Brian was able to confirm exactly what work I wanted to have done on my rifle and quoted me a very reasonable price. When I came to pick up my rifle, the work done on it looked great. He even showed me similar work of another customer's rifle that he had been working on. I would highly recommend Brian for your gunsmithing needs. I was very satisfied with the work Brian did. He did a great job with the finish on a S&W .38 Special Revolver. When I gave the revolver to Brian it had lots of pitting in the metal finish. I called to get a quote on installing night sights for my 1911. Brian told me over the phone $35. The turn around time I was told would most likely be same day. We arranged for a drop off the following morning I had to go to two different places. He told me to leave it at the gun shop in camarillo. I went to pick it up first thing the next day and was told the price was $50 so I was a little confused.. They worked with me when I said I was told $35 by Brian and knocked off $5 bucks. I gave 2 stars for the lack of communication and awkwardness at the gun shop when paying. And because he also left two marks on my slide from his vise. Thing is I would have been fine paying the $50 if that's the price I got quoted in the first place. read more

Had my first encounter with a gunsmith. What a pleasant experience. I was blown away - figuratively speaking. I came in to lighten the trigger pull by a little on a Kimber 1911 45. While I admired some of Brian's handy work he took my Kimber popped out the leaf spring in 30 seconds, tweaked the spring assembled it in a minute, tested the trigger pull but didn't like it. Did everything again after giving me some other guns to admire and after assembling the Kimber the second time said try this. Perfect trigger pull. I spent another hour with him and he showed me some great custom jobs. Rifles, pistols, etc. It was a real treat. Brian seems to have the knowledge and tools to do just about anything.
