I dropped off a firearm for customization in March 2023. I followed up consistently for nearly two years and was repeatedly told the work could not be completed .. monthly just for them to owner S. To mention to me the reason why he hadn't gotten to my firearm was because it takes to long to change a drill bit on his machine this was mid 2025 sometime When I finally came in to retrieve my firearm, I was informed that it had been sold. I was told that attempts were made to contact me, including certified mail, but I never received any such notice. When I asked the gentleman in the front clearly fustrated ( not his fault ) tells me "your gun is gone " Tells me write my number down and to wait for a call back As of now, this matter has not been resolved. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication and handling of customer property. I would strongly advise anyone considering this business to get clear written timelines and policies before leaving firearms here. read more

Left a Winchester Trapper with them in 12-1-23 and it took them a year to install a requested loop lever. Left my Smith & Wesson Model 629 with them on 12-10-24 for a trigger job and still haven't heard from them. Left 3 email requests for a status without anyone responding. Four months later, after spending a few hundred dollars, they told me there was no solution to my problem (other than replacing the shotgun.) I dropped off my P365 to get a Comp pin and welded to my barrel. I was told it would take 2 weeks. I called a month later and I was told they haven't gotten to it yet. TWO months later I went to the shop to check the status of my gun and nothing had been done to it. I asked for my parts back!! Horrible customer service! I came in last Saturday to see if the gunsmith can remove a castlenut and switch buffer tubes. I drove pretty far so I requested if they can expedite this since its just wrenching the nut off. Told him that I'm in a middle of a ppt and I wanted to see if he can do it asap so I don't have to make another round trip. I waited another month total of 4 months I called and I asked if my guns is ready he said I don't have time to get to it yet I am very busy and I will call you back when it's done I said when you think? he said I am not sure I said this is ridiculous it's been over 4 months my guns at your store this is unacceptable so he goes okay no problem come and pick your gun up he did not apologize he didn't say anything like I'm sorry let me work on it give me another week or so. After a bad experience from a gunsmith in my area, I found Match Grade on Yelp and gave them a try. I had them swap sights on my XD9 and stainless steel 1911. They promised one day turn around and they delivered!! Especially on the notorious Springfield XD, they have installed the sights like it came from the factory not a scratch or evidence it was done after. After picking up my slides, took it home reassembled my pistols and straight to the range. Went through 300 rds on each pistols, the sight alignment was on target and it stayed in place. This was my first time using their services and it will not be my last and I would rather drive 16 miles than go back to my local incompetent gunsmith. Wow, just wow. I'm so grateful to have found this solid group of guys to come to my rescue. I had a terribly frustrating issue with my bolt sticking back after every round on an AK/Micro Galil build that I had no possible clue of how to fix. After a quick post on reddit (of all places) asking what the general consensus was, I got about 30 "experts" throwing all sorts of repairs at me, none of which would have helped me at all. From getting a stronger recoil spring to force the bolt through the restriction, to sanding down the hammer and rails to provide a smoother tract to slide on.. I'm so glad I didn't listen to any of them besides one fella who recommended I go to these guys in Cerritos, claiming the "best AK gunsmith in the area" was operating there. Enter Sal. The chill, long-haired AK guru who took one look at my Frankenstein build and knew exactly what needed to be done. Instant relief came over me as I knew I would be taken care of. Expecting to fill out a work order to surely need to come back another day, Sal took her straight back to his work station and within a short couple minutes was back with a fully functioning, cycling firearm. The guy who built it most likely riveted the frame too tight, twisting the receiver just enough to cause my problem. He even shot a couple rounds through her just to make sure it didn't need more attention, and Sal didn't ask, nor expect a single dollar out of me. I terribly regret that I didn't bring any extra cash with me for again, I surely expected to drop her off to be picked up at a later date, and all I had was a pathetic 9$ in singles that I had in the car to express my gratitude with.. He didn't pay any mind to it and that's just a testament of what kind of guys they are. After some show and tell, letting me handle his personal, beautiful, original Galil pistol (not the bastardized AK/Micro Galil mutation I brought in), we parted ways and he was right back to work, helping the next guy get another step closer to their finished product. Sal was very kind and knowledgeable, and it was obvious that I had made the right decision coming to Match Grade Gunsmiths. Hell, he even took a liking to my Micro Galil build mentioning he had yet to see a build like mine, before politely asking if he could snap a photo for himself. Sal left me feeling great that my firearm was fully operable and even more proud of this mutant of a project I happened to get my hands on. I called to get a quote for a sight installation for my Springfield XD. They were honest and direct about how Springfield factory sights could be tough to remove and could bump up the installation from $60 to $90. They didn't tell me that in a reluctant manner hoping to pass the job, but to be get straight to the point. Long story short, I drove down there, dropped off my gun and TruGlo sights, and got a call back in about 3 hours letting me know my gun was ready. I picked up my gun and was told the sights came off easier than expected, so I only paid $60. Took a RIA match 1911 for a trigger tune up it was a stiff 5lbs and I wanted 4 pounds and a .020 to .030 reset .no big deal gave them the ok to install higher quality parts in needed. oh about 10 weeks later I get a call to pick it up , get the gun trigger is a stiff 6 pounds, I even took in 2 1911's to show what I wanted. also noticed grip saftey was acting schetchy. ended up taking to a smith in Fullerton , sear was replaced as "reworked" one was unsalvagable , new spring and grip saftey work. trigger sets between 3 1/2 and 4 pounds and a .030 reset. It will be a cold day before I use them again. its taken me a long time to cool off to write this, made me feel like I was dealing with turners outdoors. they lost a good custermer read more

There are not many true gunsmiths left in CA. I went here with a simple piece of work and was surprised at the prompt service. I was having issues installing sights on a 1911 pattern gun and Sam was able to fix this in 25 minutes. I was expecting to have to drop the gun off for a few days but it was resolved the same day. This review is for Sal, I wanted to express my gratitude and appreciation for his hard work in fixing the errors of another gunsmith *cough* Rifle Supply (I love them but they unfortunately were outmatched by my stubborn FN 509). Sal had to spend quite an amount of time fixing the damage done to my gun by Rifle supply warping a pin in the frame of my FN 509 when they tried to separate the locking block from the gun to change out my stock trigger to my Apex trigger. Sal explained to me all the work he did, made sure I understood all the things he corrected/fixed, and changed my trigger out. Let me start by saying, wherever you're thinking about going, don't go there, just got to MatchGrade. This is my second experience with this business, once during the pandemic and just recently, both occasions the work was done exceptionally well, the customer service was top notch. I went in this time to have some AR work done, I dropped my rifle off with the parts I needed added. The process was simple, sweet and thorough, as straightforward as it would seem, I've had less than favorable experiences. Maybe 2 hours later I checked my phone and saw I had a missed call and voicemail from Sal, one of the parts I dropped off was missing some necessary milling to accommodate my rifle, Sal explained what the issue was, what the solution would be, pricing and was awaiting my approval before completing the work. Again as simple and sensible as this sounds I feel like this is a missing skill in the workforce right now. I called back to approve the work, the whole process took about 2-3 days. The pricing I was quoted over the phone was the price I paid in the shop, simple and plain. They don't try and jerk you around or up charge you out of house and home.
