Great customer service! After messaging back and forth with the owner, Jesse, I decided to swing by his business and meet him. He showed me some of his gunsmithing equipment and told me more about himself. I was intrigued with the ultrasonic cleaning machine. I gave Jesse two of my pistols, and he said he would clean them and bring them back to my house that same evening. (I was assuming I would have to go back to his business on another day to retrieve them.) The pistols looked wonderful after the cleaning. I was impressed. When I went to the range the following day, I noticed a glitch with one of the pistols. I notified Jesse and he said he would come that day to my house to fix the problem. He came and worked on the gun, but was not satisfied that the problem was fixed. He took it back to his business and corrected the issue. He then brought it back to my house. The pistol works great. Summary: Excellent service. Fair prices. A pick up and return option. And a gunsmith who reall cares about his work and the customer. I definitely will be back to Lunar Arms Gunsmithing. read more

Jesse is the BIGGEST reason why I support small businesses. From day 1 he gave a great quote on slide work. Throughout the whole process he quickly answered any questions I had, no matter how trivial it was. When I wanted to upgrade certain type of slide work, he would give me the pros and cons of each. Not once did he try to "upsell" me on anything. Once my slide work was done, he even offered to come up and pickup my frame to zero it, out and test it, and cleanup my gun all together. I'm definitely coming back to him for future work on guns I get. Very professional guy but was also down to earth and easy to talk too! After I concluded my business, he did not ask me to leave a review. To me that says a lot, as I feel reviews for businesses should not be "requested" by them. It should be earned and posted by the customer without having to ask. read more

So the new thing with firearms is custom finishing. Of course you have steel, stainless, aluminum, all sorts of plastic composites, etc., etc., which means that you're pretty hard pressed to find some way to color all of the firearm components equally and consistently. Enter the amazing Cerakote process. This is an ultra thin but also ultra durable ceramic based finish that is baked on, similar to powder coating. I've had a number of items refinished with this process, and I have to say that it is quite amazing. I certainly won't go for some of the crazy colors that they have available (i.e. pink, purple, Tiffany Blue, etc.), but rest assured that pretty much any color under the sun can be had for your little pets. The Cerakote process isn't limited to firearms either. It's just as well suited for any hardware that sees extreme weather or usage, and finishes well on metals and many plastics and composites. Applications are limited only by your imagination! Bring your parts already disassembled, or have Richard do it for you for a small fee, it's up to you. Jesse at Lunar Arms is tremendous. I originally went to him for a single Cerakote job nearly a year ago, and ever since, he's been my go-to for all FFL and gunsmithing needs. He's a true expert--everything I've brought his way has been handled with precision, skill, and pricing that's more than fair. My DIY attempts have landed me in some interesting "situations"--some that felt beyond repair--but Jesse always manages to get me out of the hole I've dug myself into. Beyond the wide range of services he offers and executes masterfully, I was thrilled to find an FFL experience that doesn't involve taking a number, awkwardly waiting around for hours, and feeling rushed because a dozen other impatient customers are crammed into the store. Jesse schedules all visits on a one-on-one basis, making the entire process smooth, personal, and efficient. His hours are flexible and convenient, and there's simply no better way to handle anything FFL-related. I came to Jesse as a customer, then relied on him as a gunsmith and FFL, and now I consider him a friend. He's top-notch. You'll be very glad you chose Lunar Arms. --Jeff read more

Of course you have OC Armory next door too, so you have the best of both worlds here! Purchase some eclectic hardware and have it customized, all in one stop! Oh yeah, 2A is also an 07 FFL so they can do any transfers or registrations that you may need as well, including out of state or custom stuff. Hours are by appointment only, enter from the entrance in the back!

I met Richard at a booth at the last couple of Costa Mesa Gunshows. Talked to him and seem like a…read moregood guy. The examples he brought to the show were beautiful. So this last time I brought a Rock Island .45 Tactical I had.....the previous owner had coated it (duracoat?) and it just looked ...........not right. Like it was on too thick or something......so I had Richard do it like a Sig Sauer Scorpion. Desert tan and black accents. It turned out GREAT. Looks beautiful.....and the work appears to be perfect. Turn was quick....it was only a little over a week....faster than he quoted. I'll look forward to bringing some more stuff in for him. Thanks Richard!

We ended up coming here to do a PPT since it was in the middle for both of us. Finished everything and on the way home got a call there was a small error on the paperwork , luckily they were able to fix it on their end. Fast forward to this last experience, Took my 2.0 in for a port/window and Cerakote job. Was given 2-3 week time frame. Messaged them 2 weeks in to get an update and see if it was possibly ready. Responses I got made me feel unsure what was going on but just let it be and decided to wait for them to follow up for my pick up. 7 weeks passed by and I had not received any update or heard from them so I decided to send a text. Turns out my gun had been ready. Went to pick it up, and they gave it back to me completely disassembled (springs, cover plate, etc.) with the parts in a bag. I Asked if they don't put it back together since I brought it all put together and they had taken it apart. Employee said a gun smith just came in so he can ask them. Other employee at front asked which gun it was then said he would do it because gunsmith doesn't work on that. Began to work on it then said he realized it was my order and mentioned how there was something with the Cerakote being super thick and that a part wasn't sitting right and ended up having to take it to the back. Brings it back out together which is when I saw how the screw wasn't sitting flush and looked like maybe it was stripped. He took it to the back again and fixed it. (I noticed the sights were also scuffed up a bit but didn't even want to bother with it at that point) Only reason I'm doing 2 stars is because I liked the cerakote and port/window job. (Yelp won't let me organize the order of the images so I numbered the order on the picture)
