Walked in tonight, stood at the bar and totally unsure of where to sit. Stood there for about 3 minutes, no acknowledgement at all. Decided to seat ourselves at a table in the corner, still no greet or anything. Watched 3 other parties walk in the door and they were not only greeted with a smile, but given drinks and food orders before we even got a simple hello. We sat at our table for about ten minutes before we decided to leave. Your FOH staff should at least say hello and let someone know they'll be right with them. While the wings were amazing. The burger was okay. The service was awful! Took forever to get our drinks, then forever for our food. The waitress never checked back with us, then we saw her leave. Okay, how did it take me three years to discover that the best wings in Cincinnati are definitely here at Oak Tavern?! Seriously. THE. BEST. Let's just get this all out in the open. I'm a wing fanatic. I may be obsessed. I may have problems that require therapy. BUT that means I have years of experience. That you get to benefit from! The wings are so tender and meaty; they're injected with love and magic. In fact, you don't even need to smother the wing in sauce, because these wings can stand their own ground with the rub they come with. But if we're talking sauces, there are several to choose from and you can mix and match at the table. And the spicy is deliciously spicy. Life is good with all the freedom you get at Oak Tavern. Don't let my review fool you -- these are the best wings in the city. They come smoked, taste super fresh, and have a variety of sauces that come in a caddy, so you can try multiple. Personally the smoked taste of the wings and some ranch is usually all I need to have a great lunch. Their beer list is fantastic most days, and it's right in the heart of Oakley, surrounded by a couple of really cool bars and hot spots. However, they lose a star for service and attitude. Every time I've been, which is probably upwards of ten times in the last year, I get the weird feeling that everyone on staff wishes I'd just go home. I generally keep to myself if I'm there alone, or if I bring friends we're pretty respectable and keep to ourselves. But it's almost as if actually giving good service is the last thing these people want to do. There are definitely exceptions, and some of the wait staff have been very kind and awesome, but the overall vibe is something I can't seem to shake. Oak tavern is right in downtown Oakley, within walking distance from other bars. I went on a Thursday night, a little later, around 11. It didn't seem like there were that many people there until we went out on the patio. The patio was almost full, which wasn't surprising considering it was a beautiful night! The other patrons were super friendly, which was really nice! My drinks were good, but I can't speak much for the prices because I was lucky enough to have my drinks paid for. People were playing the juke box all night, and I know they have live music. I would love to go back when they have the live music. I've often heard this bar while going to and from my car at the Fresh Market across the street, and I always assumed it was a sports bar with little more than fireball shots and miller lite. However I attended a bar crawl in Oakley this weekend and was almost pleasantly surprised by the Oak. While there are certainly Fireball shots and the noise level and clientele that goes along with them, they also have a huge selection of craft beer in bottles, which they list on the wall to the side of the bar. So basically, the Oak was exactly what I expected, but with the added bonus of a good selection of good beer. Thus, three stars instead of two. read more

The Oak Tavern is by far the best bar food I've had in Cincinnati. I seriously think it's the best burger and wings you can get in the Cincinnati area! To start, the wings are smoked, which makes them absolutely delicious. Whatever seasoning they add on there to help enrich the flavor just makes it stand out on it's own! If you're feeling the mood to then smother the goodness with one of their many sauces, just ask. They have a whole bucket of sauce variety! If you're not in the wing mood, then be sure to try out the burgers. They's also smoked, so you won't miss out on the outstanding flavor. The bun is warm and soft, the cheese gooey, and the patty delicious. It's perfect and not overwhelming at all! In terms of the ambiance, it very much gives off the local bar feel. You've got to figure they would make a lot more money by hiring one extra waitress as I watched numerous tables get tired waiting 45 minutes to see their server and choose to close their tabs instead. We held our running group's regular happy hour here last month. In hindsight, this place is far too small to hold all 30 of us. I was assuming that it would be pretty empty at 6:30pm on a Thursday, but boy I was wrong! I think it is always packed, no matter the time of day. On the other, the service was good and the food was excellent! Most of us ordered our drinks from the bar and the bartenders were very speedy. We did have a waitress take food and some drink orders. She didn't seem as thrilled to be dealing with us, but she was efficient when it came to getting the food out. I had a chicken quesadilla, which was huge and stuffed with yummy ingredients. The rest of the menu is traditional bar fare that will neither amaze nor upset. Beyond the food, this place always has great energy on the weekends. Absolutely terrible service. Came here for their wings, and it was a good change of pace to have some grilled wings, but it can't make up for servers who genuinely didn't even care we were there. I sat outside. After waiting, with no acknowledgment I got my own drink at the bar and asked for my own menu. After waiting and getting menus for the rest of my party myself, still nothing. All while two "servers" constantly walk by us. After literally flagging someone down thrice, and then being asked to wait while they did something else, we finally got our order in. Food was dropped of in a hurried manner, and then we were quickly forgotten about again. No checking in, no drink refills, no bill, nothing. I took care of the check myself at the bar, and left. The Oak is your standard local bar. I've been there several times to watch sports games. The Oak offers a full bar, but not food. While, it does not offer any food, they do let you bring food or even order pizza to the bar. The Oak has 3 large flat screen HD TVs and a good juke box. The bathrooms are tiny but clean. First time here, got the dive bar feeling immediately stepping in. Beer prices were alright, some were a little too high. I get that Bars like to have bands on Friday/Saturday nights, but the place is so small inside having a guitar and drummer going makes it impossible to talk. Not sure how the actual bar and other food here is based off of some reviews, but I got a to go order of the jumbo wings and WOW!! Some of the best I've ever had. They are grilled and def jumbo. Thy have this like charred look and taste to them and OMG the Carolina Gold BBQ sauce is the best sauce I think I've ever had, especially on a wing. I'm not a big BBQ wing guy, I like my Buffalo, but this is amazing and a must try! I'll try some other things here, but I believe I will have to get wings along with it! read more

The beer prices are reasonable and the selection is what you would expect for the area. Depending on your age, you might notice that the customers get younger as the night wears on.
